Current requests for increase in protection levelRequest protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Dominican Restoration WarExtended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Socks now circumventing semi-protection. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:35, 30 May 2024 (UTC) 2024 New Brunswick general electionReason: Repeated IP edits treating website placeholder text as meaningful announcements. Another editor's warning on IP's Talk page was ignored repeatedly. G. Leijurv (talk) 06:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC) Coimbatore Suburban RailwayTemporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent NPOV and MOS violations by editor who thinks that reverting him means you're part of a conspiracy to destroy the subject transit system. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:16, 30 May 2024 (UTC) BeowulfIndefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A series of IPs have since March this year persistently made joke/vandalism edits changing the heading "Form and metre" to "Form and meter" despite the British English setting and a comment beside the heading; Drmies has blocked an IP for this but at least 2 others are continuing the assault. A temporary protection will not be enough given the persistence and multiple IPs, so this mature article (it's a GA) needs permanent protection at this point. Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Leonard CheshireIndefinite semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP-hopper having an issue with the word "softly". The Banner talk 09:29, 30 May 2024 (UTC) DSB Class MFReason: Persistent disruptive editing by multiple IPs Tammbecktalk 11:06, 30 May 2024 (UTC) Frederik XTemporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Under attack from rotating IP for the last few days. Gabriel MartinelliTemporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Idiosincrático (talk) 13:16, 30 May 2024 (UTC) Johann van BeethovenIndefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent & ongoing sockpuppetry/vandalism from IPs & named accounts regarding Johann van Beethoven birthdate. Cited sources only state a circa year, not the unsourced November date that various accounts keep on adding to this article - see this and this etc. Shearonink (talk) 13:29, 30 May 2024 (UTC) Hero Wars (video game)Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – A dynamic IP has been reverting against an AfD consensus without making improvements. I'm nominally involved, so filling this as a request. It may be possible to rangeblock the IP, but it seems like there's some unrelated activity on the range (still, p-blocking it from this page in particular may be the cleanest solution). signed, Rosguill talk 14:34, 30 May 2024 (UTC) Battle of KurskIndefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent and non-stop IP vandalism. Random IPs keep on deleting source information, saying Boris Sokolov is not a historian despite giving no source nor using proper grammar, and ignoring the multiple other sources which cite his numbers and find them to be reliable, including Frieser and Toeppel.Reaper1945 (talk) 14:59, 30 May 2024 (UTC) MTV 90s (British and Irish TV channel)Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Targeted by Bulgarian IPs. Internet forumReason: The protection here seems to date way back to 2012 due to spam, something which would presumably be much lessened now as forums are a less widespread format Iostn (talk) 16:22, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Electric currentChange "An electric current is a flow of charged particles,[1][2][3] such as electrons or ions, moving through an electrical conductor or space." to "An electric current is the flow of a charge around an electrical conductor or through space." Reason: The DRIFT section lower down has it right. Up here, it's very wrong. Wiki should not promote wrongness or contradict itself. Please see here: "Drift speed The mobile charged particles within a conductor move constantly in random directions, like the particles of a gas. (More accurately, a Fermi gas.) To create a net flow of charge, the particles must also move together with an average drift rate. Electrons are the charge carriers in most metals and they follow an erratic path, bouncing from atom to atom, but generally drifting in the opposite direction of the electric field. The speed they drift at can be calculated from the equation: v = I n A Q {\displaystyle v={\frac {I}{nAQ}}} where v {\displaystyle v} is the drift velocity I {\displaystyle I} is the electric current n {\displaystyle n} is number of charged particles per unit volume (or charge carrier density) A {\displaystyle A} is the cross-sectional area of the conductor Q {\displaystyle Q} is the charge on each particle. Typically, electric charges in solids flow slowly. For example, in a copper wire of cross-section 0.5 mm2, carrying a current of 5 A, the drift velocity of the electrons is on the order of a millimetre per second. To take a different example, in the near-vacuum inside a cathode-ray tube, the electrons travel in near-straight lines at about a tenth of the speed of light. Any accelerating electric charge, and therefore any changing electric current, gives rise to an electromagnetic wave that propagates at very high speed outside the surface of the conductor. This speed is usually a significant fraction of the speed of light, as can be deduced from Maxwell's equations, and is therefore many times faster than the drift velocity of the electrons. For example, in AC power lines, the waves of electromagnetic energy propagate through the space between the wires, moving from a source to a distant load, even though the electrons in the wires only move back and forth over a tiny distance. The ratio of the speed of the electromagnetic wave to the speed of light in free space is called the velocity factor, and depends on the electromagnetic properties of the conductor and the insulating materials surrounding it, and on their shape and size." 2003:E3:EF1C:62AA:25FC:EBCA:B8B7:B6EE (talk) 08:33, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
Israel-Hamas WarI would like to request that... (the map be updated to show that Israel now controls the entire Gaza-Egypt border) . Dated deletion categoriesBacklogs larger than 10 days will not appear below due to limitations in the template. Please clear older backlogs before newer ones and check the "master category" once in a while if a category suddenly changes from "huge backlog" to "no backlog" overnight. Although not technically part of the speedy deletion criteria, articles which have been proposed for deletion for more than seven days are also listed here as a matter of convenience.
