Vandalism part 34 edit

Serge's 34th iteration of his own personal WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. Feel free to report anything you feel may need admin intervention. Sergecross73 msg me 00:34, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi, based on the editing patterns, I'm wondering if @125.160.112.170 might actually be blocked editor @JustYourImaginaryGuy. Not sure how to report this; I noticed you dealt with the latter editor before. RegalZ8790 (talk) 05:12, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I agree. I've blocked. Feel free to report incidents like this to me, and if I agree, I'll issue blocks or page protection as needed. Thank you! Sergecross73 msg me 13:44, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I figured this was okay, just wanted confirmation. Anyway, he's at it again, now with @125.160.115.29... RegalZ8790 (talk) 01:19, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Sergecross73 Back for another round as @125.160.113.185. What can be done with an individual who has no intentions of respecting Wikipedia and its community? RegalZ8790 (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Looks like someone else hit him with a WP:RANGEBLOCK. Hopefully that helps. Sergecross73 msg me 17:54, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, This user keeps reverting my changes saying they are vandalism. This IP traces back to the subject of the edits who has been using wikipedia to promote his own name, articles, and videos. He doesn't cite his work, he simply pastes it into other articles.

He has done this on the USNVGT page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_vs_Snakeand several others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/35.135.179.48

Surely this is against the terms. Thank you for looking into this. datagod (talk) 🍁 22:21, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adding/restoring info without a source is definitely against policy. I don't know enough about these subjects to know who is correct in some of the disputes, nor am I following the accusations of self-promotion, but I'll warn them about the sourcing issues. I am Setsuna and Lost Sphear edit

Hi. I remember you being interested in these articles back in the day. I've recently completed some extensive edits, but I've also been struck down with the new COVID variant. For these and other reasons, another eye cast over them would be great. Tokyo RPG Factory and Oninaki are already GA, and I was vaguely thinking it might become a GT, since it's pretty much definitive that there won't be any more games from that studio. Hope all's going well with you. ProtoDrake (talk) 19:03, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi ProtoDrake. So sorry to hear that. I got it last year for the first time and it sucked. Nothing life threatening but it was an exhausting two weeks. I hope you feel better soon. I'm happy to read over both those article, they look to be yet another great example of you taking an article creation of mine and making it great. I'm a little short on time - life's busy at the moment and I've struggling to get much dedicated time here - but I also know it won't take much effort for me to look over them because we've done this before, and usually they don't hardly need any input from me at all in the end. Should be easy to look over. Sergecross73 msg me 16:59, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Setsuna looked good. I made a couple minor tweaks but feel free to ignore/undue if you don't like them. Haven't had the chance to review Sphear yet. Sergecross73 msg me 17:03, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

5ive9teen and Shōgun edit

Hi Sergecross73, hope everything is well at your side of the world. If you have the time, could take a look at 5ive9teen and their edits to Shōgun (novel)? I've been trying to show them their edits are not helping, to no avail (see User talk:5ive9teen). There is very little communication from them, I suspect language might be an issue. I don't know how to continue here. Thanks. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:52, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Protection needed edit

Hey, Serge. Can you protect the Leon S. Kennedy article (perhaps semi-indefinitely)? I'm not sure how blocking a single IP alone helps, but there's another IP. (The article has been protected multiple times, but after the time ran out, the IP disruptive edits resumed; all of their edits aren't constructive, though I'm not surprised because of its page views.) Thank you. 🥒Greenish Pickle!🥒 (🔔) 01:45, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done! Sergecross73 msg me 01:59, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! I'll be back to you when I need protections on other articles also. 🥒Greenish Pickle!🥒 (🔔) 02:05, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

This question edit

Hey, so a user was asking about using Discogs as a source to cite the album price. I know we don't give that info ("this book is 10$" and stuff like that), but do you know where exactly in the wiki rules it says that? Just so I can cite it. Panini! 🥪 03:50, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @Panini!: I believe you're looking for WP:NOTPRICE. Left guide (talk) 10:28, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yup, I was going to say WP:NOPRICE, but that links to the same thing. Price can be mentioned if it had some sort of impact on the games sales/receptio /impact, but not if it's just routine, inconsequential price info. Sergecross73 msg me 12:13, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
There it is, thanks @Left guide! Panini! 🥪 02:08, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Re-block? edit

This problem is continuing. SergeWoodzing (talk) 09:43, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@SergeWoodzing: thanks for calling attention to this. I was the one who filed the initial report that led to the first block. This user has failed to even acknowledge or address any of the talk page posts or the block; instead just blanking, ignoring, and continuing to plow ahead with the same problematic unsourced editing behavior after the original block expired. With all of these factors combined, I agree with you that an indefinite block is warranted here to prevent further disruption, since I see no realistic chance of improvement. Sergecross73, what do you think? Left guide (talk) 10:05, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, I'll deal with it shortly. Sergecross73 msg me 12:14, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Short descriptions of console generations edit

Just thought I'd let you know about the recent edits I did last night. I changed/simplified the short descs for nearly every console generation's article (excluding the sixth generation, though I made a base off of that). I wish to hear your thoughts because some of the previous short descs were inappropriately long and highlighted a certain console, which I did not believe fits a neutral tone.

As for your reversion on my edit for the eighth generation, could you elaborate on your reasoning? The 3DS was indeed released earlier than any of the home consoles then, though I forgot some devices that were released no earlier than 2011. Carlinal (talk) 16:48, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

My concern was less about the year, and more that I didn't think subbing in "gaming devices" was necessarily a better option. The articles focus on more than just the devices, but on the industry as a whole. I don't feel that strongly about it, but since you did it across a bunch of other articles too, you might want to start up a discussion at WP:VG - specifically WT:VG and get others input. Who knows, someone might have a third idea that's better too. Sergecross73 msg me 16:51, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alright, thanks for your input. Carlinal (talk) 17:46, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
