Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of highways numbered 370 may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • * Wyoming Highway 370 {unsigned)

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 03:53, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

CR 22

Is there a reason you're moving the cats (and failing to move Liberty and Wakulla)? It's pretty obvious that an entry for SR 22 in a county road category means that there's a CR 22. --NE2 15:03, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Did you look at the category? I remove the state road and added two county roads to it. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 15:58, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Uh, you removed the SR 22 article from THREE categories. --NE2 17:13, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Uh, it is a state road, not a county road, so it shouldn't be in the county road categories. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 21:32, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
It's a state road that continues as a same-numbered county road that used to be part of the state road. --NE2 09:18, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Recent Unused Highways edits

Some of your edits to List of unused highways in the United States, specifically Alabama and Nebraska, do not conform to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (U.S. state highways). I don't know if there are others, but for the sake of conforming to the manual of style and article consistency, would you mind changing them back? Thanks for some of your other edits to maintain the style of the article, like eliminating the state specific route names in the main article. I've always thought those should be in the state sub articles only.--Bodo920 (talk) 06:00, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

@Bodo920: that page hasn't been a part of the Manual of Style in almost three years. It's just a naming convention now. Also, Morriswa hasn't edited that list article in quite a while, so you may want to give a brief explanation of the specific changes you think are problematic. As it is, I took a peek and can't see what you're objecting over. Imzadi 1979  06:31, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
I agree with Imzadi: I haven't edited that page in a long time. My laptop seems to be nearing the end of its life. That, combined with more work tasks, has forced me to edit less. :-( Since I haven't even looked at the article in a while, can you specify what edits you were objecting to? Thanks. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 19:52, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
A month isn't that much time to me; sorry I wasn't more specific. My bad, happy to provide more detail. Prior to your last round of edits throughout the article, every (or very nearly every) U.S. Route was "U.S. Route X/U.S. X" and you changed them--in the state areas mentioned--to "US-X." I realize that's not a huge deal, but I think having a consistent article is very important, especially this one as it's large in length and wide in scope. Also, I didn't get the memo that the Manual of Style is no longer used, and I think it's presumptive to think everyone knows that, especially if it's still an active page and does not say as much. But if it's still used as a naming convention, then it should be considered. @Imzadi1979: doesn't necessarily agree with me on individual example consistency, but sticks to it when it comes to examples as described in the introduction.
Plus you forgot a number on one of the Alabama U.S. Routes you changed. But hey, no worries. This is a community article and I'd write it differently if it were mine. I was just thinking of the average reader. Again, small change perhaps, but I'd welcome your thoughts Allen.--Bodo920 (talk) 17:58, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Long term, I want to get all US Highways on a consistent abbreviation convention, however when I proposed that recently, the idea was shot down. Until then, the convention is to use the hyphen (US-41) for references in states that use the hyphen, and to use the space (US 41) in states that use the space. The "U.S." is being switched in the one state that uses it (Arkansas), and in fact jct no longer uses the periods. In the discussion, it wasn't felt to be an issue to have the inconsistency between US 41 and US-41 in the same article, so for now, consensus is to be consistently inconsistent. Imzadi 1979  18:40, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Additionally, there is another issue. In a standard highway article, or even a standard list, there will be a limited number of highway abbreviation types in use, usually just 3 or 4 (Interstate, US, state, county). Those normally can be handled on first mentions in the article lead and the beginning of the RD section. On a list that deals with multiple states, and in cases where the "List of unused highways in Michigan" link redirects to "List of unused highways in the United States#Michigan", the situation become less clear. Do we need to repeat the abbreviation conventions by state? Also, "US Highway" is also proper terminology in addition to "US Route" (with or without periods; MOS prefers without now) and we're completely inconsistent there. The article is called "U.S. Route 41 in Michigan", which is in the "U.S. Highways in Michigan" category and listed on "List of U.S. Highways in Michigan", but it is also in the "U.S. Route 41" category. Within the text of that article, it uses "US Highway 41" as the full name and doesn't use "U.S. Route" in the prose. In another state, "U.S. Route" is the only form used. Again, consistently inconsistent. Imzadi 1979  18:50, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
