Proposed deletion of Washington Road

The article Washington Road has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Road's name is of questionable notability and the article does nothing to establish that is notable. Information as presented could just as easily go into state highway articles.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –Fredddie 23:20, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

@Fredddie:, what do I need to do to show that it is notable. Washington Road, especially in Martinez and Augusta, Georgia is a major corridor for the area. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 23:53, 19 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Washington Road a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. If you're going to move it, use the page move function to rename it so that it is titled as a sandbox in your user space. It would be preferable to move it without a redirect, something an admin or a page mover like myself can do for you. Imzadi 1979  22:27, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

@Imzadi1979:, from User talk:Fredddie#Washington Road, he said for me to redirect Washington Road to User:Morriswa/sandbox4#Washington Road. However, I couldn't move it. Could someone do it for me? Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 22:44, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
The page is now at User:Morriswa/Sandbox/Washington Road as a proper user space draft. Imzadi 1979  22:54, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
Why was the original page deleted? It should still remain as a redirect, at least. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 23:07, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
The original page was not deleted. It is now in your user space as a draft. Creation of a redirect was suppressed to avoid a cross-namespace redirect. See WP:CNR for more details, specifically "Some CNRs result from moving fledgling articles to the Draft namespace for incubation. The resulting redirect then points readers to a draft article that is not ready for inclusion in the encyclopedia, which is not ideal. Once the draft is brought up to a standard for article status, an administrator must then delete the redirect in order to allow the draft to be moved back to the article namespace, requiring additional effort in listing the technical move request and waiting for intervention by busy administrators." Also, why did you revert my copy-paste move to my sandbox4 page? If I couldn't have a full article, I was just going to have a section on what is eventually to be a "Transportation in Augusta, Georgia" page (sandbox4's future designation). The original page is deleted; it's a red link now. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 00:18, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
For the last time, the page was not deleted. It still exists at User:Morriswa/Sandbox/Washington Road. Fix up the damn thing, and it could be an article again. You have to be very careful in copying content around here for legal reasons, and just copying and pasting it like that doesn't meet the requirements. Imzadi 1979  00:45, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
No. The "Washington Road" article was deleted. Yes, the information is in that userpage you started, but the original page was deleted. I still don't understand what was wrong with the page. As I said earlier, I'm working on a "Transportation in Augusta, Georgia" page, with sections on pertinent streets in the city. Since the page wasn't worthy to be a separate article, I was just going to make a section on that page. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 00:57, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
No, it was not deleted. The article was moved, per your request above. I am not an administrator, and therefore I cannot delete things. Imzadi 1979  04:26, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
"Washington Road" evidently was deleted, as it's now a red link (look at the top of this section. So, somehow it was deleted. Also, my "move request" was to move it to User:Morriswa/sandbox4#Washington Road, not to a new page. Morriswa (Charlotte Allison) (talk) 19:10, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
