Your script-assisted edits again

As I and others have suggested before, please do not make edits that have no effect on how the article is rendered, as you have done here, here, and here. Edits that do nothing more than unicodify characters, add or remove whitespace, or moving text immediately following a wikilink into a piped display are really not helpful and are more of a waste of resources than anything else. You're more than welcome to do that as you edit an article, but as standalone edits they're really unnecessary. – TMF 16:50, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

I now realize that these kinds of edits are what the AutoEd script is supposed to do; however, when these kinds of edits constitute the majority of an editor's contributions, that's when it gets to become an issue. If you made more non-trivial edits to articles, such as expanding stubs as part of USRD's current initiative to eliminate stubs, then it'd be easy for me and likely others to look the other way on these edits. – TMF 17:57, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

TwinsMetsFan,
I don't know how to make very complicated edits in Wikipedia. Since I'm in the Navy, I don't ever seem to have enough time to learn how to do all the fancy, cool edits that "everyone else" are making. I want to learn all I can about this great site. If there is anything you can do to help me learn at a very slow rate, that would be great.

For USRD-related items, there's the standards page and the New user orientation page. For more general things, like wiki markup and formatting and whatnot, there's Wikipedia:How to edit a page and the other tutorial and help pages linked from it. Hope that helps. – TMF 18:09, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
