RevisionDelete request

Hello ƒETCHCOMMS!

I noticed this talk page section, which may need to be RevisionDeleted.

Thank you.

All is One (talk) 20:18, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

I removed it, but I'm not sure revdel is warranted. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 01:44, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

AfD

I appreciate your comments at my RfA, and I certainly respect your opinion. I'd just like to assure you I won't be jumping in AfD. If you'll check my contributions, I'm not very active at AfD and I'm certainly not going to make it a priority if I were to become an admin. I'm mostly interested in helping out at AIV, RFPP, and the other noticeboards that need the most attention. AfD isn't a board that really affects the day-to-day running of the Wiki, so it's not something I'd specialize in.

In any case, I do appreciate you voicing your concerns at my AfD. Thanks, and take care! Dayewalker (talk) 02:37, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, it's not just AfD to which I was referring, but deletion processes in general (which also include CSD, PROD, etc.) /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 04:47, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I understand, but those aren't my speed. I think adminship should be like editing, you start slow. I'm not going to jump in and delete the main page the first time I hit the button. I'd start with the simplest of processes, just to help other editors. I understand your concern in any case, it's a valid point. Dayewalker (talk) 05:09, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Occupy Ashland article

Since you voted on the first AfD for Occupy Ashland, just a note that it's up for a second deletion nomination here. Northamerica1000(talk) 14:22, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Feedback Dashboard task force

Hi Fetchcomms,

Since you were a part of the WikiGuides project, I thought I'd give you a heads-up about a new way you can help/mentor newbies on en.wiki: we've recently released a feature called the Feedback Dashboard, a queue that updates in real time with feedback and editing questions from new registered contributors who have attempted to make at least one edit. Steven Walling and I are putting together a task force for experienced Wikipedians who might be interested in monitoring the queue and responding to the feedback: details are here at Wikipedia:Feedback Dashboard. Please sign up if you're interested in helping out! Thanks, Maryana (WMF) (talk) 21:42, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

As a participant at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#G4 and subsequent XfDs, would you take a look at Wikipedia talk:Criteria for speedy deletion#G4: Moving forward? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 00:07, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Revisit RfC for Notability (astronomical objects)?

Hi Fetchcomms, would you consider revisiting this RfC discussion to see if any of the additional responses/arguments are acceptable to you? We have worked hard on the guideline, and are willing to modify/change language in it to make it easier for users to understand. If you have suggestions for that, they would be appreciated. I would like to try and convince you to change your vote of oppose to support. Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 14:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

I took a look but I don't think I'm going to change my opinion. I'll think about it, though; I'm really busy this week. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 19:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks in advance for any consideration you give. AstroCog (talk) 22:14, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your great comment at Wikipedia_talk:Portal#Alternate_proposal. Wise words. — Cirt (talk) 04:05, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Future of the US Education Program and the Ambassador Project

There is a discussion about the future and the growth of the US education program along with the future of the Wikipedia Ambassador Project here. Voceditenore (talk) 06:46, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi!

Dear Fetchcomms, How is your day so far? Promise me that you won't work on any of your userspace drafts over the winter because I'm going to finish all one hundred items on your to-do list for you, as well as take care of all the DYK and GA stuff. You are the best administrator on the planet! One million dollars for you! Sincerely yours, Pilif12p 01:48, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Echo

Sorry; but why does your userpage say User:Echo, when you're surely not Echo? Misleading, at least. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 03:43, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Not particularly misleading, obviously. But how am I surely not Echo? And, to answer your question, it says "User:Echo" because I told it to. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 18:45, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
I realize that you realize this, but I believe Tofutwitch11 was questioning why you told it so say User:Echo. P.S. In your signature, I cannot see the letter before "ETCH". All I see is a box. What am I supposed to see? Good day to you, can't see character? (see my contributions) 23:47, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
You realize correctly! (I told it to say "User:Echo" because I no longer wanted to see its previous state.) The letter in my signature is the lowercase form of "Ƒ", or "Latin Small Letter F With Hook". It's also the florin sign, and should resemble this. Best, /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:25, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

RFA Question

Hey, Fetchcomms. How's your day going? I have no desire to encourage you to modify your vote or your question in any way to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/CharlieEchoTango; however, I just wanted to point out that I do think that it is an exceedingly difficult question to answer. I know that I would have trouble answering it adequately if I was running for adminship. With that in mind, I was curious as to whether you could tell me what your answer would be to the same question. What is it about you that doesn't make you a good administrator? You are under no obligation to answer this of course, but I was just curious as to whether anyone can come up with a good answer to that question. By the way, I thought you might enjoy a good web comic. Do you ever view Cyanide and Happiness? There are a lot of funny ones, and this might not be their best, but I found it funny. Sincerely, Ryan Vesey Review me! 20:45, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

It's indeed a tough question, but administrators should be especially prepared to defend themselves against people who might target their shortcomings. Right now, I'd say I'm not active enough to really need the tools (although hopefully that will change in a month, I'll see ...). I can overreact when frustrated, but I can also be overcautious and unwilling to take actions because I'm afraid that it might just cause bigger backlash. I have a tendency to misread things, or write things that are misread by others because the intended tone (e.g., sarcasm) was not well-conveyed. This has caused a few miscommunications before (but I'm glad you understood the humor in my talk page rules, unlike at least one person). I can be overly harsh—at least in others' eyes—on difficult users, often children, and I'm usually hold very strong opinions, but almost to the point where someone might think that I'm arguing just for the sake of trying to be right. I do have a tendency to be sporadic about things, so I'm not very reliable for constant help at venues like CCI or AIV. And that webcomic was greatly appreciated ;) /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 05:55, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the response. It was a very good one too-well thought out. Have a nice day, Ryan Vesey Review me! 02:59, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Something Nice...

Hello Fetchcomms; how has your day been? I just wanted to inform you that I enjoy your presence greatly on Wikipedia; when I go digging through random old discussions about various things, you always seem to pop up with some sort of comment. These comments almost always manage to make me laugh, and they always seem to be very well thought out. Perhaps most importantly, they make more sense than much of the rest of said discussions, and serve to get them back on track when they have spiralled downwards to the point where nothing is being accomplished. Please, keep up the great work; your views on things are always refreshing. Best regards, ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 22:53, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! ;) /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 02:30, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
I felt it necessary to finally say something, as I've thought this for a while. :) You seem to pop up in random places quite a bit. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 02:47, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Osarius : T : C : Been CSD'd? 00:39, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

# 9 and #10

I answered them. They were questions posed in good faith and deserving of answers. They simply needed more thought as I really try to avoid kneek-jerk responses. :) Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:48, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Right you are. Q10 was actually stolen from me (I think) and I appreciate the insight it provides. Good detail in your response. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:52, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Did not know it was borrowed from you. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 02:23, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Hm, I haven't received anything. Can you re-send it? /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 04:19, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
In a nutshell, it was basically me asking you to rethink this removal of my entries that you did. I have a reason for using that page instead of using WP:RFPP: I want people, even IPs, to be able to contribute to my page if they wish, while still having vandalism possibly auto-reverted. Basically, ala Jimbo Wales (talk · contribs)'s userpage. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 20:03, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, its possible the mail server on boru.x10hosting.com, which is the server that my website (which I will link to if you want me to) is hosted on, is down. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 20:08, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Oh, is that the email we were discussing on IRC when you said "Fuck you" to me? Yeah, even if you were polite, your pages don't really need to be semiprotected or watched by any vandalbot. It's not necessary and there are more important things for you to worry about. Now, if you'll pardon me, I have a more important thing to worry about, too. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 22:03, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't care if it is not needed. The function isn't needed at all, but it is still used. Your point seems to be that it shouldn't even have that function at all. Can you please re-add them? I'd rather have something watching my user pages. Nobody on IRC wants to help me with this simply because I am supposed to talk to you about it. This is basically like you can revert any edit of mine you want simply because I added it BEFORE my ban from userpages came into place, which is NOT true. And I see no way how I would be misusing the page. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 02:07, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
There's enough whine above to fill a cellar. Are you sure you're mature enough to be editing Wikipedia? Because my point, clearly, is that you are focusing on a trivial and irrelevant detail when instead you should be focusing on contributing constructively to the encyclopedia. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 03:26, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
(Sorry for barging in here, Fetchcomms...) LikeLakers, drop the stick and back away from the horse, which has been reduced to an ugly pile of glue at this point. Your ban from userspace pages like Cluebot's opt-in was supposed to prevent this obsessive behavior you're exhibiting about it, not redirect your energy into harassing people who edit userspace pages in a way you don't like. Please, please start demonstrating some ability to disengage from the issues of Cluebot and userspace, or we're going to have to revisit whether your current topic ban is any more useful than just a regular block. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 15:25, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
FWIW, the entries were readded in this edit, which was in violation of his ban (a block was placed shortly after), so removing the entries LL2 was not allowed to add is in the spirit of CSD G5 and the banning policy. →Στc. 05:04, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
