- As for your userboxes, I don't know. Your first bet is to place the template {{helpme}} at the top of this talk page, and hopefully somebody with userbox knowledge will respond. - Wikipedia:Red link is your guideline. Basically, leave red links as long as they're likely to ever have an article, or even create that article yourself if you're able. As for where to post questions, there's no rule. I prefer to keep similar comments under the same heading (as I'm doing with all your adoption questions) but making new sections each time is fine as well. - Sorry I just saw your previous message. Revert = Undo. Rollback is an admin-only tool that has automated features but is still done by humans. As for how to do an AfD, it simply requires a lot of reading. Your placement of advert warning tags
If you could explain what language you find to be WP:SOAP in the articles HA'Aki and Jeu that you tagged as advertising, I'd be happy to try to address it. Your placement of expand tags on stub articles
You also should not be adding expand tags to articles that are already categorized as stubs, per Template:Expand, as you did here, here and perhaps elsewhere. It's just unnecessary. A stub is by very definition in need of expansion. Use the expand tag only on articles that are not stubs, but still in need of expansion. --Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:03, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Seems to be a larger than usual amount of vandalism today. School's out? Since I started using Huggle I've noticed not only how rife vandalism is on Wikipedia, but also how horrid some of the articles are that I stumble onto. Kane Waselenchuk article
As you've noticed, someone keeps deleting a paragraph - citing a 2 year suspension from competitive racquetball - from the Kane Waselenchuk article that I originally wrote. My user page was even changed by deleting a reference to that article as one of those that I originated. Can anything be done to stop this deletion occurring? band hero list
I've undone the splitout of the soundtrack for Band Hero. While I know the other games have it, in getting all the GH articles up to par for the Guitar Hero featured topic, there is concern that splitting soundtracks out just for purposes of doing so when the article is short enough is not a good thing. Thus, Smash Hits has its soundtrack in the article on the game (as there's no development info) while GH5 clearly needs a separate list due to the new gameplay additions and the like. Band Hero, as far as I've seen in sources, is not discussed much in development, and the gameplay is mostly the same as GH5 , so there's no larger body of text that will be added outside of the reception section, so the lists are fine in the article. If, when I get this to GA/FA and they complain about the size, then it makes sense to move it. --MASEM (t) 05:18, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, you have removed links I entered on Darwin Northern Territory, these links are very relevant to the site and relate to the MacRobertson Air Race of October 1934 that used Darwin as a control point. Hi Fetchcomms! while patrolling newpages, I stumbled upon Help with algebra. This article clearly doesn't meet the criteria for inclusion, it is in start violation of WP:HOWTO. You probably noticed that too during newpagepatrol, and tagged it for speedy deletion. The thing is though, you tagged it as blatant vandlism and a hoax, and that it is certainly not. I would like to invite you to be more careful with tagging articles for deletion, also thinking on how it welcomes our newcomers. Together with the other items on your talk page, it seems you may be a bit too over-enthausiatic when it comes to tagging articles for deletion. As a rule of thumb, use speedy deletion tags if and only if the article you are reading should be deleted RIGHT NOW. To enforce this, the criteria for speedy deletion are really quite narrow. That is intentional, so that articles that don't need such urgent deletion, can't be deleted under CSD. It's a good thing to always stop and think if it really meets the CSD, and pick the right criterium. In all other cases, it's better to use either PROD or AfD. May I suggest that in the future if you encounter an article like Civilians operating against an occupying power that does not have any encyclopedia content, you nominate it for speedy deletion rather than proposed deletion. You can do this by adding the template {{db-nocontent}} to it.

- Here's my advice: speedying is only advisable if something is blatantly deletable. Here was an article on a self-publishing website owned by publisher Harper Collins, being created by an admin, with lots of references out there. A bit of checking on your part would have been advisable. Again, you seemed to have applied the speedy tag one second after the article was created, so you couldn't have checked. This isn't a race to be the first to delete. Just take your time, do some WP:BEFORE work. I see your work has been largely focused on deleting articles and fighting vandalism, which is great, but you might want to try creating articles, as well. Exactly what is the problem with the inline references to the Dictionary of National Biography, found at the end of every paragraph of the article? What additional citations are you looking for? - {{refimprove}} is an inappropriate tag for the purpose you used it for. The citation used verifies the text in the article; additional citations are not required. You probably wanted {{One source}}. However I'd read carefully the purpose of that template - it uses language such as "accuracy or neutrality may be suspect". In my view, it would only be appropriate to use it if you thought something about the article was dodgy. If it is merely that you want another source because you think that's a generally good thing, I'm afraid the banner you leave on the article will be little more than clutter, with about zero chance of getting anyone to improve the article. Put another way, there are very much better ways of improving wikipedia than drive-by tagging. --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- You'll understand there are two camps with respect to tagging. I'm in the other one. There is a but more on him in the Oxford DNB, which is about 114 years more modern than the DNB, and if I was less lazy, I'd update the article from that It wouldn't add much except his interaction with Elizabeth Sewell, but as you see, she hasn't yet achieved a wikipedia placing. Clearly you are right to think that a second source would improve it; I merely question whether a tag is the best way to get work done - and I think the ordinary user would prefer to get right into the article without having to check out the banner. Hi - I was a little surprised to see that you had speedied this article. This one seems fairly clear notability to me; perhaps in the future you might check with the article author if you are unclear? We should probably consider thinking of this as an opportunity for education. If an article hangs around a little when it is in doubt, that is okay. I would rather have that than to have a productive editor driven away by a speedy that is too speedy. One of my grave concerns is that we may have an environmental that's anti-wiki; that is, where policies and rules are being treasured over valid and appropriate contributions. - There's no deadline. There's very rarely a harm to having a questionable or even bad article up for a day or two while things get sorted. You're right, it's frustrating, but when you keep your eye on the ball it's not that big a deal. Keep the big picture in mind... the long term damage of losing a potentially good contributor is MUCH greater than having an iffy article up for 24 hours while we sort things. :) I appreciate the work you're doing. Because, in the previous one, when somebody reads the first sentence, it is understand that Said Nursi is only the author for Kurdish origin. If we say Isaac Newton is a scientist of English origin, it doesn't make sense to us. It was the same at Said Nursi page. Unlike SARS or West Nile which struck me as mainly hype, H1N1 strikes me as potentially very serious indeed , and I have worked on this issue for the last six months. I have been frequently stymied by the overly formal style of wiki . . . I don't think we're giving parents our best work at all, and parents would be our most demanding readers. "Students writing papers" are likely to be among our least demanding readers, anything written in formal style's going to be acceptable whether it has glaring omissions or not.
I would ask you to consider this commitment: if I can demonstrate to a reasonable degree, civil standard, more likely than not, 51%, that quoting excerpts from WHO, in fact quoting rather long excerpts from WHO is allowable under fair use, can I count on you to welcome experiments in less formal style and less standing between the reader and the information?
I also want to look at news articles, for example:
- Report Finds Swine Flu Has Killed 36 Children, New York Times, DENISE GRADY, September 3, 2009:
- “ . . . In children without chronic health problems, it is a warning sign if they seem to recover from the flu but then relapse with a high fever, Dr. Frieden said. The relapse may be bacterial pneumonia, which must be treated with antibiotics. . . . ”
That's written in lively style. The only thing I would be doing is sanding it down. I would not be doing parents, or anyone else, a favor.
The hard part of it is that this is only 30% of it. The other 70% of severe cases is direct viral pneumonia. And that pattern is not as obvious, but we still need to talk about it, with the best information we can find. The topic is hard enough as it is.
Would you in fact be willing to take a good long look at fair use with me?
And copyright for the above NYTimes article? Well, we're doing it for education purposes. It's 41 words out of 609. And "nature of copyrighted work," another part of the four-part balancing test, it's from the New York Times, which does sell subscriptions, but it's way back from the beginning of September. We have not scooped them. If anything, if anything it seems to me that we have promoted their writer Denise Grady.
But there would be longer excerpts, shorter time horizons. And health articles probably do have a longer shelf life than pop culture articles.

- And I'm going to improve it by rewriting it? For starters, I am not a doctor. Besides, this was the public statement of a big Oct. 14-16 conference WHO held at the headquarters of the American Health Organization in Washington, DC. "Findings and experiences were presented by around 100 clinicians, scientists, and public health professionals from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania." Pretty big proceedings, and I'm going to rewrite it. I suspect it's a careful, measured statement. I'm likely to just louse it up.
- So we can't cut and paste. We have to rewrite . . . so that we can practice our school skills of buffing and polishing? What if we just skip all this. Hey, you want to give me a good grade, you can give me a good grade and I'll graciously accept it.
- There's a time to really take your time, maybe a traditional encyclopedic article on Voltaire, and really get it right and really pay attention to the writing (and the good news is that all writing develops transferrable skills, even if one is stuck in the most corporate of environments). And then there's a time to go fast.

No, thank you. I simply like this design and find it fin for my personal use. I think the "classic" design does not represent Wikipedia as what it is: an up-to-date online encyclopedia, not a bland, plain interface. We must move ahead, not stay in the past. If other popular sites looked like this, people would never go there. It's just plain boring.
