Hello, Davey2010

I took a look at Wikipedia's guidelines about external links, but it didn't seem really clear to me why all my links were removed. Can you point out, specifically, the reason why my links were removed?

Thanks, best regards.

Jankrah17 (talk) 17:46, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Hello Jankrah17, You seem to be posting one website across alot of projects which is considered more or less spammy behaviour, BBC, Daily Telegraph etc are fine but that website isn't so it shouldn't be added, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 17:50, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Reverted edits in Botanic Gardens MRT Station

Heya Davey!

I'm kinda curious why you reverted my edits on Botanic Gardens MRT Station since by doing that you are essentially removing the "Station layout", "Exits", "Transport connections" and "External links" section too, which are present in every MRT station page. I'm also not quite sure what you were trying to achieve by adding {{S-rail-start}} and {{s-end}} to the page since they are not present in other MRT station pages. RectorRocks (talk) 12:04, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

Because we're not a travel guide and I fail to see what's encyclopedic about a bus station layout, the exits and transport connections. The services template was moved from the infobox to the external link section which is where these templates belong (hence the s-start and s-end templates), Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 12:32, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

How about if I replace the infobox with a picture of a banana? Do you think that will be acceptable and get consensus? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:54, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Ritchie333 - That actually sounds like a great idea and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if that did get consensus!  , I would support!. –Davey2010Talk 16:59, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Edit Reverts

Hi Davey2010, I noticed you have been making edit reverts on Mercedes-Benz O 405 and Mercedes-Benz O 305. I have fixed the images into a gallery so that it will not sandwich texts. It is also important to show the rear views, because if the readers don't understand the frontal styling, they are able to understand the rear.

Is inserting a gallery ok, I will not put unnecessary images :)

NIm --EurovisionNim (talk to me)(see my edits) 12:07, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi EurovisionNim,
The first revert on Mercedes-Benz O405 was because we didn't need a gallery - A few images are fine but when we have Commons it's generally preferred to have less images as possible, The second revert was again removing the rears of the vehicles as I don't see what use this is ?, Perhaps you could replace an image with a rear or something?,
The revert on Mercedes-Benz O305 was simply because it was all cluttered - The layout is more or less okay IMHO,
I don't really see much point in adding a gallery as we already have Commons :),
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:21, 22 August 2017 (UTC)

editing pictures

Hi there Davey 2010 In July I added some pictures from Wiki Commons to the notable people section of Newcastle-under-Lyme. You reverted that edit on 19th July saying that not all of those images are needed. I can see from a previous section above about Mercedes Buses that you aren't keen on too many pictures.

I've put a talk item on the page for Newcastle under Lyme and invited others to comment of whether they find the pictures useful. My point is that the sequence of pictures, following time, illustrates nicely how the appearance of the notable people has changed. Taken together they provide a visual history of the town. With this in mind I have posted eleven photos again, positioned below each other and to the right hand side.

If you are unhappy with this new edit, might I suggest (1) you reflect on the power of the visual impact of pictures and when and how that impact can be appropriately used and (2) contribute to a debate on the issue if you again feel inclined to delete the pictures from the Newcastle under Lyme page.

Best wishes ArbieP (talk) 12:14, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

editing MRT stations

Hi Davey 2010, I realised you reverted some of my edits on some MRT stations in Singapore. I'm writing this to tell you that it is almost impossible to source for bus stops info. Although it is unsourced, I assure you that what i edited is of 100% accuracy of at least a 95%. For now, I'm gonna revert your edits. However, if you have anything to say, please feel free to use my talk page so we can discuss on how the info can be placed in.

Best wishes SMB315C (talk) 20:48, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi SMB315C, Unfortunately if it's impossible to source then it doesn't belong on here - All content on here needs to be reliably sourced which unfortunately the stuff I've removed isn't, If you reinstate this you could be blocked for wp:disruptive editing, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:51, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

Your recent deletion of content in several MRT Stations article

Hi Davey. I just saw some major deletions in some Singapore's MRT Stations' articles such as Expo MRT Station and Tanah Merah MRT Station. I saw that you have deleted the station layout sections in these articles. Is it because they are unsourced? I am bringing this up as these edits are significant to those who frequently visited such pages.--LAi zhen kang (talk) 00:37, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi LAi zhen kang - In short these aren't needed and I quite honestly have no idea why they're even in the article, Unfortunately we have shopping centres like Bluewater shopping centre and even worse Lakeside shopping centre where it takes forever to get out and you eventually find yourself walking in one huge circle around one shop trying to find the bloody exit so on that front I understand the issues however back on topic regardless of ones confusement we shouldn't really be listing these - They below on the bus station or transport operators website, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:46, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response! However, I would still keep the station layout sections at interchanges (which means not all MRT Stations), as they are quite complicated in layout. I will reinstate in the future.--LAi zhen kang (talk) 00:51, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Sorry not happening - Unless they're truly notable for being like a maze to get out of then I'm afraid there's no reason to include this - Please remember we're not a brochure - If people are unable to get out of a bus station then serious questions need answering but regardless we shouldn't be providing that info, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 01:19, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
That is quite right. I think these sections should be limited to interchanges with 3 or more lines intersecting, such as Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. But not for Outram Park MRT Station yet since the Thomosn East Coast Line has not been built yet. The types of platforms for each line can be included in the infoboxes.

Hopefully there can be real improvements soon to such MRT stations! Actually I added the gallery section to improve the articles as it is quite boring for articles with very limited pictures (except stations under construction ot under planning). Putting thumbnail pictures may make the pictures all over the place (like some at the bottom ehich is weird). It can be meaningless, however, if these pictures are plucked from wikicommons.--LAi zhen kang (talk) 02:49, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

I have deleted the same such sections in some MRT Stations, but I thought these stations should still remain:

Can you also add more citations to the MRT Stations along the North South Line?LAi zhen kang (talk) 12:25, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

I've removed those too sorry, There are no cites for this because it's simply non notable, Happy editing. –Davey2010Talk 12:33, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Might as well deleted the rest except Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station as these sections are not notable. I have gone through wiki on overseas train stations and found there were no such sections.

I am not sure what others will think for such massive deletions.--LAi zhen kang (talk) 07:03, 6 September 2017 (UTC) LAi zhen kang (talk) 07:03, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Return of the MRT stations "station layout" problem

For a bit of background info, check here and mainly here

Over the past few weeks or so I have discovered that many MRT articles (like this one) have had their "station layout" section removed. I had consulted User:LAi zhen kang for more info as he had reverted this edit, who in turn recommended me to consult you.

(So, here we go again...)

May I ask why is the "station layout" section removed? Based on your earlier answer to User:LAi zhen kang on your talk page, you said:

regardless of ones confusement we shouldn't really be listing these - They below on the bus station or transport operators website

Looking at the train operator's websites (for example its websites for City Hall MRT Station); [SMRT's website] and [SMRT's other website], it is clear that SMRT does not publish such info, hence the need for such a section. JaventheAldericky (talk) 16:32, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Exactly - if they don't publish it then we don't need to either, Station exits and layouts don't need to be included as they're not notable, Thanks. –Davey2010Talk 16:52, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Hello, it's round 3 of this discussion. Having a station layout section does improve the quality of the article.
Firstly, it's a useful addition for reference. There are locations in the MRT that do get confusing, and are useful for creating the Template:MRT_route/East_West rail route diagram that you see in all of the MRT line guides.
Secondly, Wikipedia is not just a mirror of the official website. There is an official website people can go to. Not being officially published by the primary source does not mean we should not include such information. Imagine only being able to include information about Kim Jong Un being a great leader as such is published by the North Korean government.
Finally, it is not a necessity to nuke exit information either. It is useful to commuters too. Considering that Wikipedia can be accessed anywhere, unlike the station specific diagrams located at the stations, it makes such an article a functional tool for many users of the MRT.
There are many people other than myself who know that these diagrams are a fine addition to the page, and practical for travels to stations new to us.

Hi Rivertorch, Ah the image shows now and also shows in all of the revisions, Well FWIW the laptop's been struggling as of late so I have no idea if it was related to the laptop, Chrome or whether it was MediaWiki related, Should've tried on Firefox, Anyway I'm not so sure if the image is an improvement over the current one ?, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:36, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

List of pharmacies

Davey2010 Hi Davey, I added 3 names in online pharmacies but you removed all the three. Medlife is Indias Banglore based pharmacy scaling its e-pharmacy operations in millions through its website and application. There are many links but you can check this link. Another Pharmeasy is pharmacy application and Pharmacy aggregator which also scales up to Rs 111 Crore. Heres the link. Third, ChemistOnline which was second medicine portal of India who had FDA Enquieires but now again resumed. here's link . Kindly please allow these names. There are very famous in India and working at PAN India level. I request you to search their names on Google news to know the facts of companies dealing in billions. Hope to receive a positive reply and undo the edit. Thanks a lot. Shweta Shwetamits (talk) 07:56, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shwetamits, These aren't notable hence being reverted, These need to be actual articles not external links, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:29, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Davey2010 , Thanks for your reply. Can you please tell what means "actual articles". I am new user since few months and naive for few things. Thanks a lot. Shweta Shwetamits (talk) 06:21, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, The articles need to be WP:Wikilinked not WP:External links, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 13:49, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Issue with IP editor

I'm looking for your help. After I cleaned up and reverted edits to Talkradio and Virgin Radio UK the IP editor has reverted me and put the page back to his revision without providing a reason. I'm coming to you for this as you thanked me for my original edit. I don't want to keep reverting as of course that should be avoided and I fear that if I did he would just ignore it like he did to my edit summaries so I'm coming to a more experienced editor who isn't part of this and asking you to speak to him so that he doesn't do it again.

Thanks, The boss 1998 (talk) 16:47, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi The boss 1998, If the IP reverts again I'll take them to AN3 or AIV, Thanks for your note :), Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 16:55, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I guess we just wait and see if he does it again or responds to your message on his talk page. Then we can take it further if we need to. The boss 1998 (talk) 17:04, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
No worries thanks for letting me know, I have a feeling it's gonna be the former but who knows :), Cheers. –Davey2010Talk 18:32, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

On this day, 7 years ago...

Hey, Davey2010. I'd like to wish you a wonderful First Edit Day on behalf of the Wikipedia Birthday Committee!
Have a great day!

You old git! Here's to another seven years. CassiantoTalk 23:23, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Lepricavark & Cassianto :) .... I should probably admit tho I've only been here since 2012 so only 4-5 years, Tell you what I don't feel like I can do 1 year let alone another 5!, Anyway thanks both :), –Davey2010Talk 00:14, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Ha! Only 4-5 years of gitness then huh?! :p ;) — fortunavelut luna 00:27, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

template:reflist

My intention for my revert at Ella Anderson was mostly to let you know that the defaults have changed on that template in case you were not aware. I don't care much either way and I definitely was not going to edit war over something that minor. I'm sorry that I ended up annoying you, it was not my intention. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:37, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Geraldo Perez, First off I apologise for getting worked up over it and I apologise for assuming bad faith with you, Tbh I had no idea about there being over 10 refs I just assumed it was fine for any number, Not sure about anyone else but "30em" always looks neater to me but I can see from an outside perspective it might seem a pointless edit,
I'm not having a go but it might be a good idea to come to my talkpage first as that way I can read it all before reverting you that's all,
Anyway thanks for kindly popping by and again my apologies for earlier - Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 16:55, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Davey2010, I would advise against using 30em for refs if there are less than 10 refs, and especially if there are less than 6 – I've seen editors use the equiv. of "2-column" format when there is just one or two refs, and it tends look ridiculous, if it doesn't just outright render the sourcing unreadable... --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:41, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
If there's anything over 4 then I do it but if there's anything below then I don't, Anyway noted, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:47, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

Thanks for your work with WP:ENGVAR maintenance, I was about to amend one and saw you got there first!

DrStrauss talk 19:29, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi DrStrauss, No worries, I just do it now and again when I'm bothered really, Anyway thanks for the kitteh! :), –Davey2010Talk 19:44, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

A Modest Barnstar for you

  The Modest Barnstar
I want to thank you for being passionate about Wikipedia's verifiability. Specifically, when dealing with the swarm of IP editors (many, I believe are from a single IP-hopper) making subtle, unsourced edits to automotive articles. As someone who's been using Wikipedia for over a decade to get relatively fluff-free and reliably-sourced information on cars, especially when I'm in the market for one, I appreciate the shift out of someone who takes their time to keep the articles that way. - GS 23:08, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

Happy Birthday!

Thanks so much Lepricavark :) –Davey2010Talk 12:19, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Ariana Grande

Hi. Do you think that anything in this People magazine article belongs in the Ariana Grande-related articles? For example:

I'm on the fence about it. If you think so, please feel free to go ahead and add whatever you think is appropriate. Happy editing! -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:35, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Ssilvers, If I'm being absolutely honest I wouldn't use it - It seems like a gossip magazine if that makes sense ... The thing that goes around my head is "Surely there's better sources" .... Anyway If it were me I would probably go to the talkpage and see what others thought but then again we're all different so if you wanna use it then that's up to you :),
As for what it could be used for - I would probably say thing I guess, Cheers, –Davey2010Talk 13:08, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, will do. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:29, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

A message

Good timings Davey2010, somebody told you things are very clear like source of news could be wrong, it depends what you think the information is make any sense of not. Do not even try to put where the new sources(news) come from that not confirmed right away. Think about this, like sedan cars dimension how big they are to input the class correctly. Also if a term of the word's color is red, presents the page is not confirmed, and it will have to be fixed to let the word change it back to blue. Another example is: I found Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205 it has 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic, there has something wrong over the page. To be honest, you must not revert or undid the page without our permission until someone's found something wrong or make some new updates on it. So you have to read and think what is our opinion. Dude It's very important to let everyone in the world looks at the pages are correctly. Don't be like a bot, change yourself please thank you! We hope you understood what are we saying! If you don't like our ideas edit, go make your own new wiki website to put the information that you like @Davey2010 and @GrapefruitScuplpin! Cause we do not trust you, that you given to old and wrong wiki pages! you do know all bmw, Mercedes, and audi are all luxury class cars! — Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterJohnson12345678 (talkcontribs) 19:56, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi PeterJohnson12345678, Please read WP:OWN - You, I or anyone else OWNs an article - They're part of the encyclopedia and as such anyone can obviously edit, Also this is a collaborative project which means you need to discuss changes especially when you're reverted,
Now as per WP:BRD you need to go to the talkpage (and as Floq says on your talkpage you need to stick to one account!),
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:43, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

It's almost Halloween...

Fabolous discography

Hey, just letting you know as I saw your edit summary ("improper listing of some (apparent?) Bubbling Under positions. (See WP:USCHARTS" makes next to no sense ??? ... as such removed the cleanup template) on Fabolous discography—that notice was added by the user Iknow23, who sporadically comes back to edit music articles including discographies, and has tagged several with said notice if they contain Bubbling Under peaks added onto 100, which is incorrect to do per WP:USCHARTS (and is against WP:SYNTH, as it is combining two charts with different methodologies). I don't know about its relevance or helpfulness to other editors, so I haven't restored it, but I don't remove it when I do see it myself as I understand why it is there (and the discography does still contain peaks of "103" and "105" in the US column). Iknow23 has also communicated in the past that they were in doubt about some of the positions on discographies actually being correct or real, hence the "(apparent?)". Ss112 04:31, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Ss112, I'm so sorry for the long delay! - I'd completely forgot to reply so apologies for that, Ah okay well if you want to revert I have no issues with that but if you did could I ask that you reword it all so it makes sense to others ? ... Not entirely sure how you understood it to be honest, Anyway thanks for kindly explaining that :), Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 02:06, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
I fixed the 100+Bubbling Under peak combinations last week or something already anyway, so there's no need to restore the template. Ss112 02:08, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
Ok thanks, –Davey2010Talk 02:09, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Your edit on 2017

There is a discussion on the talk page with three votes to exclude. Per WP:BRD, I'd recommend you undo your revert. agtx 17:06, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Agtx - I was unaware there was a discussion but regardless the entry should be removed after the discussion has closed - The discussion can easily change direction so it's best left where it is. –Davey2010Talk 17:10, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Can I ask why that is? The normal practice on Wikipedia is bold, revert, discuss. You're skipping the revert step. agtx 18:23, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
BRD is for editors who add controversial content and are reverted - As of yet I've not been reverted and as I said the entry should be removed after the discussion not before .... so BRD is irrelevant here, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:28, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
Um, this doesn't make any sense. That is literally exactly the opposite of BRD. Someone added a name to deaths. It was reverted. Now we're having a discussion. Then you stepped in and reverted the reversion. That last part is wrong. The controversial edit gets readded if there's consensus to do so. I was hoping you'd understand this and revert yourself, but since you don't, I'll go ahead and do it for you. agtx 19:48, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Hiponduion No worries oh completely forgot to say but apologies for reverting you on the AFD - Many editors just add a template without actually creating the AFD page but anyway sorry about that!, Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 19:50, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Atlantic306, Okie dokie, Well FWIW despite how it may look I wasn't in any way nominating just because they came here - All 3 articles were on my watchlist and were going to be nominated in the next few weeks anyway but anyway back on topic thanks for the message & heads up. –Davey2010Talk 21:08, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
I deleted the Anne-Marie Helder AfD per your comments there with no prejudice to you starting your own discussion. It will likely be a better outcome if the discussion isn't muddied by the socking.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:18, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

YAA. Davey2010 please appreciate that as a charity having the right information is vital to our service. Please contact us at the YAA at o.johnson@yaa.org.uk I am the marketing manager of the charity and would like to discuss a few ammendments 158.255.224.22 (talk) 09:41, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

158.255.224.22 - Being a charity doesn't give a you free pass to edit articles that are or are related to your company,
In regards to your edits - You need to WP:SOURCE them ... (IE add a news article or a book or something that confirms your change),
The amazing part to all of this is that your website itself makes no mention of any month in 2000,
Anyway in short - Stop editing the article (Read WP:COI) - Go to the talkpage and add your sources.
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:39, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

The Dumping Ground List of Characters

Hi. Why have you decided to change the list of Dumping Ground Characters. It has been like this:

Character Actor(s) Role Duration Years
Mike Milligan Connor Byrne Head Care Worker 1x01- 2013-
Tyler Lewis Miles Butler Hughton Resident
Jody Jackson Kia Pegg
Floss Guppy Sarah Rayson 1x06-
May-Li Wang Stacy Liu Care Worker 2x00-
Ryan Reeves Lewis G. Hamilton Resident 3x01- 2015-

since the show started. It is a much better way of showing the characters, it's simple and shows which cast of the current characters, and which have left the show. I don't understand why you think it should be changed all of a sudden, it's much better this way.

Hi Anonymous person, I've not changed anything - I've just slapped you with a 3rr warning, You're gonna have to talk to the editor who disagrees with your additions, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:32, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello,

I am the creator of the Smoke Radio logo, so could you please not keep changing the logo to an incorrect version as the version I uploaded is my own work so can be displayed on the article. We use the wordmark logo inside a polygon, not cropped.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by M4th5 (talkcontribs) 18:34, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

The image you're uploading is the exact same (bar the weird shape of the box) - The logo I uploaded is fine and as i said is no different to yours. –Davey2010Talk 18:36, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Revdel

As an FYI, if you need revdel for private material in the future, you can use this tool to find an admin who has been online recently and then email about the material. You can also always email the oversight team directly at Special:EmailUser/Oversight. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:41, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi TonyBallioni, As I said I wasn't sure if anyone over there was alseep and as I was about to head off myself I didn't see the point in emailing them if they were potentially asleep (I've emailed them before in the morning and 2 hours later they still did nothing and I had to go to ANI for that revdel to be done), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 10:09, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I've been in that situation before too. I'm only mentioning it because every oversighter I've ever talked to would prefer there be some wait to it being posted at ANI because of the Streisand effect. The best solution is typically to email an admin who has been on recently directly (or go on IRC and type "!admin" or "!oversight".) Thanks for keeping an eye out for stuff like this :) TonyBallioni (talk) 12:47, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi TonyBallioni, If I'm honest I never like to post revdel over there it's always my last option and if i'm honest when I do post it at ANI I do always expect some sort of stick for it (and quite rightly so),... Ah yeah I've used RFC twice I think ... Okie dokie well if I ever see revdel stuff again in the morning I'll try emailing first and If no reply then yeah will go to IRC,
Anyway thanks for your message & tips :), Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 12:54, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your edits!

Hi Davey2010, thank you for your edits to NE1fm's article.

I apologise for the original rollbacks of the edits, but I can now understand why the full schedule no longer needs to be on the article. I can also see that the article has been flagged as potentially containing too much intricate detail - thank you for helping us clean it up a bit!

Hazzy6000 (talk) 22:15, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Hazzy6000, No worries, As you work for the station I do understand it's hard seeing things removed however you have to take a step back and think about the readers, Unfortunately a lot of the content is waaaaay over-detailed, I appreciate that as a station these milestones etc are important but in short they all belong on the stations website,
If you want to readd the info to your website I'd be more than happy to paste it in to your subpage if you wanted?,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:20, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Davey2010, we already have most of the information on the website's "About Us" page - We'll just redirect people there from now on.
Thanks again for helping to clean up the excessive details! Hazzy6000 (talk) 22:24, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Okie dokie no worries, and thank you for being so kind about it all - As I said it's not the greatest thing in the world to see but as I said from my point of view you have to think about the worldwide reader, Anyway thanks for helping as well as for replying - If you need any help or not sure about anything then just ask as i'd be more than happy to help :), Have a great day, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 22:28, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

You are always tagging articles for deletion

You never go researching before deleting articles. I don't think I would ever like to contribute on Wikipedia again. You deleted two articles about Kenyan musicians which am sure you know nothing about. Why don't you always allow the public contribute to articles before hurrying to delete them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.160.142.36 (talk) 04:10, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

105.160.142.36 I follow BEFORE on every article I nominate, If editors have found sources then I'm always happy to withdraw ([2][3][4]), Well if you wanna leave then that's up to you, I haven't deleted anything ... I've nominated them for deletion ... there's a difference, The public has had ample time to source these articles however they haven't sourced them because there is no sources. –Davey2010Talk 04:27, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

A Thanksgiving tale...

Two pilgrims go out hunting. One has two blunderbusses (guns).
The second pilgrim queries, “Why two blunderbusses?”
The first pilgrim responds, “I usually miss on the first shot; with two I can shoot again”.
The second pilgrim pauses, then asks, “Why not just take the second one, and only shoot once?”

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Davey2010.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:58, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

I notice that you have the "administrator someday" userbox. Reviewing new pages is one of the best ways to develop experience needed to successfully wield the mop. (As a side note... I thought you were already an admin ;) — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:58, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Insertcleverphrasehere, Thanks for the invite but in all honestly I don't patrol the NewPages anymore, Haven't done it for about 2-3 years now, Anyway thanks for thinking of me :D –Davey2010Talk 12:15, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

ANI Experiences survey

Beginning on November 28, 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) will be conducting a survey to en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be mailed to you via Special:Emailuser.

Thank you on behalf of the Support & Safety and Anti-Harassment Tools Teams, Patrick Earley (WMF) talk 21:12, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

Emily Thornberry

I realise we've got WP:BLP, but if you type "Emily Thornberry bollocks" into a Google News search you get plenty of hits - and it happened on multiple occasions, too. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:04, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Ritchie333, I had misclicked rollback on the watchlist and reverted AusLondonder so you'll need to discuss it with them, FWIW having just read it all I don't see any issue but I didn't know the content at the time of reverting and then undoing it, Anyway thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:37, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I've started a discussion on the talk page to cover all bases. It's not a major facet of her career, so I'm not going to try and win the debate of it staying in; rather, it was how several friends of mine recognised who she was in the first place, "ah, it's the woman who said Michael Fallon was talking bollocks, got it....:" Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:43, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
Ah right I mean tbh I don't really pay that much attention to MPs and all that so I kinda had no idea it was even said, Anyway I agree with it staying so I'll comment in a few mins, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:47, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

Your reversion on my edit a citation of Punk Rock

At the end of October I made the edit documented here that you later reverted, I realized that the edit was not necessarily a reputable source, but I was wondering why it was resorted to a non-source that does not seem to exist as I could not find it after scrolling the searches for "punk Subaru Impreza" as well as "like+punk+rock" "like punk rock". I would like to choose a source that can be found, I was considering using this one because it is easily accessible, but if you prefer another source I am also considering these:

If you have any advice or input on how I should move forward that would be greatly appreciate! The Editor's Apprentice (talk) 05:46, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

English actress and model Georgia May Foote interviewed at Ullswater Community College's annual Prize Day, 2015

I still think there is plenty of room on the page for an alternate image. I'm rather fond of images in articles, in fact. So, to show there are no hard feelings: a present. I see Georgia May Foote is the first article on your user page? --GRuban (talk) 14:45, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi GRuban, Not gonna lie I'm tempted to back down lol, For me I just don't see the point of including one I really don't but I've said all that on there so I shan't bore you on here :), Naa there's no hard feelings at all - We just disagree on different things and that's it really :),

Thanks for converting that to an RFC! I think that's a better solution, however it shakes out. Have a nice day. Dumuzid (talk) 23:18, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Dumuzid, Well having read the discussion in some respects I was going against the consensus (because no one !voted for "no ib image") so on that basis I figured instead of wading in with my size 13s and creating one huge arguement I figured an RFC was the best direction to go :), Anyway no worries, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 23:21, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Hello

Hi, I'm sorry for templating you. I accept my mistake. I did that because you blindly reverted me atleast twice on Ronan's page. I agree that I should have sent you a message instead of a template. Will keep that in mind henceforth. Thank you. --Krimuk2.0 (talk) 18:18, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Krimuk2.0, No worries and I apologise for the language, I also apologise for reverting you - Having looked at each and every edit I was indeed unknowingly reverting your edits instead of theirs so I sincerely apologise for that,
Torah was edit warring and got blocked but one of the revisions didn't seem to revert theirs so I kinda assumed the edits I were reverting were theres (I didn't realise you changed the paragraph I thought you just changed the image), Anyway I apologise for the mess and will be a lot more careful in future, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:38, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, Davey. And I apologise yet again for causing all this brouhaha that could have easily been avoided with one simple message. That was really stupid of me, in hindsight. I hope to have much-more fruitful interactions with you in the future. Cheers, Krimuk2.0 (talk) 18:40, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
No worries and I apologise for obviously causing all of this mess, Obviously you wasn't to know inre to the templates but anyway all under the bridge :), Thanks for your message and as I said below I hope we can work together again the future but under a lot nicer conditions :), Thanks again, –Davey2010Talk 18:52, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
I hope Davey doesn't mind me popping in, but I'd just like to clarify what I've been unable to do on the board. Re. your point here, the second sentence is not necessarilly always or even often the case. Editors telling other editors to fuck off is a symptom- a reaction- not a cause. And most editors here being relatively sensible (*points at Davey2020 as object lesson*), which leads one inexorably to realise that there must, then, be a bigger problem, a causatory one. Naturally then, that should be addressed first. This is not by the way intended to inflame the discussion, or point at Krimuk2.0 (was there a 1.0, btw?!), or even to excuse a perceived incivility, but just to show there's always a broader perspective with these things. Take care! >SerialNumber54129...speculates 18:34, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the thoughtful message, SerialNumber. In my defence, my templating his page was also a knee-jerk reaction to his blind reverts at Ronan's page. However, that was wrong of me, and I agree that I should not have done that and instead should have initiated a conversation first. --Krimuk2.0 (talk) 18:40, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Ofcourse I don't mind :), I will also add (as a whole) the "fuck off" is me angrily reverting - I take no enjoyment from telling anyone to f off but for me it's just a quick angry reaction (I've never been the one to shy away from the fact I do have a temper issue (always have) but being calmer is easier said than done atleast for me - I get angry irl and i get angry here more or less in the same way), Anyway all in the past hopefully we'll see and work with each other in the future, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:48, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
”goodnight Davebob...goodnight Davebob...Davebob???”

Hi, sorry to bother you again, but Torah's disruptions on Ronan's page are getting a bit too much for me to handle. As you have faced similar issues before from that user, would you be kind enough to help me out here? Thanks. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

Edit conflict ... posting here

Davey2010, I ran across an edit conflict when responding to your comment regarding File:Logo-text.png. Since you removed your comment, I'll post mine here in case why I did what I did didn't make sense:

On Commons, it's customary for ambiguous file names to target File:Name.jpg. Better that than content at that title being recreated.

Hope that explains why I did what I did, in case it did not make sense. Steel1943 (talk) 01:58, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Steel1943, Ah I've just posted at your tp :), Yeah I had a dense moment and never twigged on what you were doing until I looked at the bloody image for the 4th time!, It's at times like this I'm glad I'm not an admin!  , Thanks for popping by :), –Davey2010Talk 02:01, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you for commenting at RFCN and reporting the user. The name was indeed appalling. But since I've been labelled as a "hard line anti-Nazi" and "Nazi hunter" in certain circles, I decided to go with the less confrontational method, vs WP:UFAA. Thanks again! K.e.coffman (talk) 02:05, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi K.e.coffman, No worries!, If you've been labelled those things then you need to go to ANI and have the pathetic scum blocked, Please don't avoid these things all because of a few sad editors!, At the end of the day my friend no one knows you face to face they only see a username and that's it ...... Anyway back on topic no worries!, Happy editing, –Davey2010Talk 03:53, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings".  :) BOZ (talk) 16:09, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Happy Holidays

  Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:18, 23 December 2017 (UTC)

Merry Christmas! message

Your Merry Christmas! message at User talk:PaleoNeonate was generating five lint errors: Misnested tag with different rendering in HTML5 and HTML4, Self-closed tags, Missing end tag (2), and Stripped tags. These are largely or entirely attributable to using {{Font}} to wrap around new lines, which causes lint errors because {{Font}} is based on <span, which also isn't supposed to wrap new lines. I fixed it at this location, attempting to preserve the message's appearance as closely as possible. Cheers and Merry Christmas! —Anomalocaris (talk) 08:56, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Anomalocaris, There's a bit of a problem .... I've had the same format since 2014 so from then to now I've whacked the template out to a good 300-500 editors .... so I'd imagine there's over 400 lint errors atleast (and that's without people copying & pasting the template elsewhere),
Anyway having done a comparison, your fixes cause gaps inbetween the sentences - Is there anyway the old gap can be kept?,
Thanks and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year :), Thanks, –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 11:11, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
{{font}} was driving me crazy, so I removed it and entered the basic markup. That restored your line spacing and kept out the lint errors. Cheers!—Anomalocaris (talk) 19:47, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Anomalocaris, It turns out I copied the code from another editor last year ... needless to say once this year's done I'll go back to the old layout, Anyway thanks for help :) –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 20:03, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Formatting

Thank you for your merry greetings, but am I the only one for whom the text spilled into the next section? I suggest you use template clear before and after.   Merry Christmas! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:20, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Gerda Arendt, The template and text all look fine here, Could you send a screenshot as I'm lost on this, Could I ask does this template look unnormal as well ?, I appeared to have nicked this years coding from another editors Xmas box ..... but on this laptop it looks like this (left image), Thanks, –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 14:30, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi again, I did use this before rolling it out and it looked fine on any medium device, That being said Bzuk doesn't add {{clear}} below their greeting which causes my text and images to all drop down, Other than that I'm not aware of any issues, Thanks, –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 14:39, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
I believe you. When I widen the screen, all looks fine, but with a smaller screen, it's too much text sandwiched between the images, and appears below the frame. Perhaps I am the only one ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:54, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi Gerda Arendt, When clicking on the mobile view for here as well as using mobile devices on Screenfly I do see what you mean, The smaller the screen size the worse it is  , I'll change it all next year :), Anyway have a great crimbo & new year :), –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 15:02, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

About ORCP

Hey Dave! I was wondering if you could re-open the ORCP thread. I think usernamekiran can use a couple more comments for his own good (which will be helpful to know what else he needs to work on; early closure may compel the editor to actually test the waters prematurely, as one of the recent experience suggests). If not, it's okay too. Merry Christmas! Alex Shih (talk) 18:01, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

  • lol* The clear template only works for what comes afterward; i.e., the next section post or post outside your code - the div depth is what needs to be deeper (more pixels). If you don't use much text (or long sentences that wrap) you might clear the depth, but longer lines of text is when it bleeds beyond the borders. That's why I made it a 300px depth (or whatever is required depending on the # of lines.) Atsme📞📧 19:38, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

I did check screen resolutions for medium devices however I assumed editors wouldn't be using smaller devices .... I was wrong!,
So to those with smaller devices my Xmas template looks absolutely horrendous so my apologies for this - Next year I'll revert the code and stick to one image :), Thanks –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 20:07, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Oh my goodness gracious Davey. I thought I had left this message on your talk page a couple days ago. Musta been the eggnog and the fact that I was standing to close to grandma on the way home. Enjoy this last week of 2017!! MarnetteD|Talk 19:54, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Archiving

Please avoid archiving talk page threads that are less than thirty days old. Most talk pages can live with threads of this age, unless the page is very busy.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:02, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Not trying to argue but it doesn't take one 30 days to reply, If one hasn't replied on or after 30 days that would indicate the discussion's gone stale and all participants no longer wish to discuss the issue, But thanks for your comments anyway, Happy New Year. –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 15:28, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
