ITN for Sri Lankan Civil War

On 11 May, 2009, In the news was updated with a news item that involved the article Sri Lankan Civil War, which you recently nominated. If you know of another interesting news item involving a recently created or updated article, then please suggest it on the In the news candidates page.

Please respond to this at WP:ERRORS. --BorgQueen (talk) 21:55, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Great job there. You're really cutting through the propaganda. I agree that the LTTE is the only representative of the Tamils and though their shining light Prabhakaran continues to lead the forces through every atrocity they've committed while the Sri Lankan government has constantly shifted their approach and has shed the leadership of the 80s, it's the LTTE that should be given the benefit of the doubt. Of course they are the lesser of the two evil. They've never budged a inch. :) [[User:HumanFrailty]] (talk) 02:13, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Sorry for my comments. I can have a civil discussion as seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Icemansatriani

I seem to mark my edits as minor because it's set like that and I don't look at it. I'll change that. HumanFrailty (talk) 20:58, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Apology accepted. I'm glad you are having a discussion with Icemansatriani. --Obi2canibe (talk) 21:28, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Eela Tamilakam

Hi i have created the article Eelam Tamilakam or NagaTheevu. But some Sinhalase nominated the article for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eela Tamilakamdeletion. If they nominate this article for deletion why not they doesnot care about the article Ruhuna which is more stub than this. Kindly can you help me in it. Please try to avoid deletion of this article and also help me in adding more reliable information. please --BlueLankan (talk) 11:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

hi i found this article Ruhuna which has no meaning or no citation and saying it as old province of srilanka. kindly have a look on it. also the people who created ruhuna put the Nagatheepam into article for deletion. please help to restore the Nagatheepam also kindly check the ruhuna and put it into article for deletion. --BlueLankan (talk) 17:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

My knowledge of Eela Tamilakam / Nagatheepam is non-existent, so I can't help. But I notice you have already started discussions with Chamal & Taprobanus, both experienced knowledgeable editors, they should be able to help yo out. As to Ruhuna, ask Blackknight to provide citations for his contributions to the article and go forward from there.--obi2canibetalk contr 16:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Northern Province, Sri Lanka

Hi I have done some editings and added some category in Northern Province, Sri Lanka, kindly have a look on it on your spare time and help me in if i need to do any more editings or any alterations. Thank you. Hoping for your reply. --BlueLankan 00:41, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

You've done very good job - well done. The only point I would make is that the article is now getting too long. Wikipedia guidelines (WP:SIZE) suggest that articles should ideally be no bigger than 30-50KB. This article is now over 80KB. Please consider moving some of the content to existing articles, or creating new articles (e.g. Geography of Northern Province, Sri Lanka; Transport in Northern Province, Sri Lanka; Education in Northern Province, Sri Lanka), and leaving just a brief summary in the Northern Province article.--obi2canibetalk contr 15:52, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Merge

List of Sri Lankan Civil War battles and Military operations of the Sri Lankan Civil War: these articles are too short. You don't mind if I merge them together? Qajar (talk) 22:56, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I have no objections as long as all the contents of List of Sri Lankan Civil War battles are transferred unaltered to the merged article. But before you do anything please propose the merger on both articles so that other editors can comment.--obi2canibetalk contr 14:31, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

To our newest Rollbacker

I have just granted you rollback rights because I believe you to be trustworthy, and because you have a history of reverting vandalism and have given in the past or are trusted in the future to give appropriate warnings. Please have a read over WP:ROLLBACK and remember that rollback is only for use against obvious vandalism. Please use it that way (it can be taken away by any admin at a moment's notice). You may want to consider adding {{Rollback}} and {{User rollback}} to your userpage. Any questions, please drop me a line. Best of luck and thanks for volunteering!   upstateNYer 15:55, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

State Colonization scheme

Good job improving the article. :) It does look better now..still I think it can be incoporated into the Origins of the Sri Lankan Civil War page. HumanFrailty (talk) 22:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Your initial user page

I hope to generally expand Tamil related articles as well as, where possible, correcting the vast amounts of misinformation, propoganda and downright lies scattered across Wikipedia by the forces of evil. The over reliance on mindless web crawlers means that these lies are then disseminated across the whole world wide web.

Uh, good to see you didn't start editing Wikipedia with an obvious bias. I'm a 'force of evil'. Cool. HumanFrailty (talk) 03:03, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

You seem to have taken a dislike to me - can't think why! P.S. What's with the removal of the negative comments on your talk page? You wouldn't be trying to hide the truth, would you?--obi2canibetalk contr 18:16, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
  • At least I'm not trying to hide an obvious racist attitude like you.. I removed stuff I don't care about i.e. a message about a image I uploaded being deleted, an invitation that I didn't want to partake and my attempt to delete an article I created. HumanFrailty (talk) 20:51, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
  • I think you're a great writer. My only issue with you is your covert support of the LTTE despite their many indiscretions. I haven't created any articles glorifying the Sri Lankan Army - rather I don't much care for it. You seem to have contributed significantly to an article on LTTE leaders though. HumanFrailty (talk) 20:59, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
  • On the support of the LTTE issue, you also created an article for Jan Jananayagam, who has admitted to meeting with LTTE leaders. HumanFrailty (talk) 21:00, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

idp camp

Why not post it in dyk ?

Please stop removing cited information like the doctors later saying that the LTTE forced them to increase the figures. If you write a controversial article then you have to accept alternate cited information. Wikipedia is not your own soapbox to whitewash the ltte terrorists.Kerr avon (talk) 00:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Secondly as a doctor i am one of the few people who write on wikipedia to have actually visited and treated IDP patients at camps, just a few days ago i was in jaffna, and went to nagadeepa as well. The IDP situation is far different from what you guys are stating. It pains me that patriotic sri lankans like us are out of humanity going to treat displaced people spending time (the bus ride took 16 hours from colombo) and money (had i done private practice during those 3 days I could have earned a lot) to find certain people like you pushing your POV and trying to defame and demean what we are doing. The honest truth is that Tamil eelam was a dream which turned into a nightmare and the IDP's were the people who suffer the most. Sorry about the rant, but I had to get it of my chest. Kerr avon (talk) 00:51, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
I shall put aside your attacks on me, my motives and your inability to distinguish between concern for the IDP's welfare from support of the LTTE. The reason why I removed your additions about the doctors is because it gives the wrong impression that it was only the doctors who were claiming that many civilians were killed or injured. This is not correct. The UN estimates estimates that 6,500 civilians were killed and 14,000 injured between mid-January and mid-April. The UN's estimate was based on credible witness evidence from aid agencies as well civilians evacuated from the Safe Zone by sea. The State Department citation, which you removed, suggests that the actual casualty figures were probably much higher than the UN's estimates and that significant numbers of casualties weren't recorded. I removed the the doctors' recants because it lacked credibility: it contradicted verified facts, it was done under duress and both the UN and Red Cross stood by their casualty figures (see Sri Lankan Civil War article). As for your assertion that the article is giving a wrong impression about the IDP situation, I have used WP:RS (UN, AI, HRW, US Government, UK Government) as the main sources of information for the article. Are all of these sources are wrong?--obi2canibetalk contr 20:08, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
