Your draft article, Draft:R.D. Saini
Hello, Curbon7. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "R.D. Saini".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:11, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Curbon7,
- This actually isn't your draft article, you moved a page from this title, creating a redirect and then another editor changed your redirect to an article. But when a page is deleted, Twinkle sends a notification to the page creator, not the article creator, which, technically, was you. Sorry for any confusion these notifications might bring. Liz Read! Curiosity
How many dogs do you have? In reference to this[1]. --ARoseWolf 13:41, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- ARoseWolf, I'd like to say 3, but 2 of them are watching from doggy heaven. Curbon7 (talk) 22:43, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Awww, I'm so sorry you lost two of them. We've lost two over the last three years as well. They were older and had already retired from sledding, basically just hanging around the homestead but it was still hard to lose them. Thank you for responding. --ARoseWolf 15:33, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Your actions are so wrong
You are so wrong in moving my Zara Rutherford article to userspace. Just a few weeks after you did, I defied you and now the article is on the main Wikipedia page. When you take aggressive action, you can kill the spirit of Wikipedia editors. Only because I defied you and risked being blocked by defying you did I help Wikipedia with an important article. Zara Rutherford is the article. She just made world history by being the youngest woman to fly solo around the world.
Please be nice in the future. Don't discourage the next Einstein or Alex Trebek. Thank you. Charliestalnaker (talk) 23:55, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Charliestalnaker, I don't remember exactly why I draftified it, as that version has been deleted, but I probably had good reason, as I only draftify articles that are not presently suitable for mainspace. I'm glad you were able to get it on ITN. Curbon7 (talk) 03:42, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi Curbon7 and thanks for accepting the draft of the Artificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability article. In order to improve it, I'd like to address the first comment that says: "This article may rely excessively on sources too closely associated with the subject, potentially preventing the article from being verifiable and neutral." Could you please advise which sources does this comment refer to? I've double-checked all and they all come from third-party trusted pages. Many thanks in advance, Aoescala (talk) 09:23, 26 January 2022 (UTC)aoescala
- Aoescala, I wasn't the one who added that tag, so I'm not sure which source/s it is referring to. The Reference Desk is probably better suited to give you assistance in this case. Curbon7 (talk) 23:17, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Curbon7,
I hope you're well.
Actually I'm wondering why you keep rejecting my article Draft:Abbas Yusuf?? I submitted this article for a million times with adding more references every time and you keep rejecting it!!! This Islamic singer is well known in Bahrain and you don't accept any references from Bahrain!! I kept calm every time you reject my article but now I feel very annoyed to be honest!!!

Charlie Crist
Hello. I'm wondering what I can do to allow the recent entry I made on former Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist. I'd never heard of the man until this weekend, when a Netflix documentary about a man named Lou Pearlman had a section dedicated to him (entitled Crist Almighty) and his actions. Wikipedia had nothing about this so I inserted said info. What is the problem, exactly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.37.221.220 (talk) 21:54, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News
Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
How is that an invalid reason to vote speedy keep? My thought was that The nomination is completely erroneous. No accurate deletion rationale has been provided.
as you claimed "There has not yet been a 'Battle of Kiev'" citing WP:NOTCRYSTAL, which is an inaccurate deletion rationale since the article stated fighting has occurred inside Kiev Oblast. Additionally, how is my vote invalid while Elijahandskip's "Speedy Keep per reasons above" is? 93 (talk) 04:49, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- The article is fairly uncertain in how it characterizes Kiev Oblast and Kiev the city, so I still had the argument. Also, I was on mobile at the time, so I only saw the one reply, sorry about that! Curbon7 (talk) 04:54, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. I will probably revert to regular keeps from now on seeing how ambiguous it is. 93 (talk) 04:59, 25 February 2022 (UTC)

Battle of Vasylkiv
Hello, rather than arguing on the Battle of Vasylkiv page I want to discuss this here. Your arguing, that the US is a unbiased third party that confirms the 2 Russian Il-76 were shot down. There are no vidoes, photos or other evidence suggesting that this is a confirmed fact. Only Ukrainian sources and US officials that anonymous as far as we understand. So I suggest putting something like "Per Ukraine confirmed by US sources/officials" instead of presenting the 'casualties' as the legitimate truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexVilnius (talk • contribs) 06:30, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- What the reliable sources that we now have available to us tell us is that 2 planes went down. We don't necessarily need primary sources like a photograph. If the situation changes, then the reliable sources will be updated and we will follow. Curbon7 (talk) 06:35, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Ok I brought the wording in line more by adding "According to". Curbon7 (talk) 06:56, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

Attack/Battle of Berdiansk
Hello, When you renamed the "Attack on Berdiansk" to "Battle of Berdiansk," you put a warning that (Do NOT make a controversial page move without first starting a WP:RM. This is a warning to everyone, myself included. WP:ARBEE is applicable to all.) Was that a warning for future changes or because the page was previously changed (by me) to "Attack on ..."? I don't want to fight about it, just to know if i was wrong to make that alteration, so i can avoid doing it again in the future. RGoes (talk) 01:02, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- At this moment with Ukraine stuff, renaming articles without getting consensus via a WP:RM first is not a good idea, as this situation is very fluid and constantly changing, and we don't want to have the risk of a WP:Move war occurring between editors. Great job so far though Curbon7 (talk) 01:10, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}}
on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
Elinruby (talk) 07:40, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
I actually don’t doubt you have heard about discretionary sanctions, but was under the impression when I left this one earlier that I had to give one to everyone involved, like you have to notify everyone at NPOV. I have also realized that you have an extensive talk history and I didn’t (and don’t want to) comb it to see if you already have have one for Eastern Europe. If you do then please feel free to remove it. In fact, feel free to remove it even if you haven’t. All you have done that I think is wrong is to vote somewhat over hastily on a dishonest RFC, relying on the requestor’s representation of it, and this is not the hill I want to die on. We can discuss the RfD further if you like — I think if anything you should have voted merge and will be happy to explain why if you like — but my main point here is that you got the above notice because I was at the time under the impression that everyone had to get one, so sorry about that Elinruby (talk) 10:02, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Is there some obvious reason why you're not an admin? I'm looking around at your user page, your talk and archives. You seem to demonstrate the right temperament. When I see your reports at boards, they are inevitably correct and needed. You seem to edit in a tricky set of content areas but I don't see any regular opponents. We need smart people to sysop. Zero pressure to even respond to this message. I don't want to lose a ANI clerk. BusterD (talk) 23:32, 28 March 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, Thanks for your kind words ; it would be an honor to be placed into consideration for admin team. In sum, I am indeed interested. Curbon7 (talk) 01:51, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- I've asked a friend to give your case a look. If their impression is like mine, I'd suggest you put yourself up at WP:OCRP for sharper eyes than ours. If you decide you're not quite ready yet, that's not a negative; that's wisdom, which is a high qualification, IMHO. If I can be helpful in ANY way, feel free to call. Nice to meet you. BusterD (talk) 02:37, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- Per the link Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, locate the "three questions" and start pondering your answers. If you need help ask. Make sure you've read the entire Advice page. Twice. Then go over by yourself to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Optional RfA candidate poll and click the bar at the page's bottom which invites you to "Start a poll on your chances of passing RfA". If you need guidance, it's wise to go to the recent archives and look at how candidates have introduced themselves and how each discussion has developed. I want to emphasize: this is a job interview, sort of screening to see if you GET to the broader interview, the RfA. Things you say, jokes you make, history you disclose, WILL BE read and read again by strangers. We had a sockpuppet of a banned editor come within hours of getting the mop this last year, so many will come to the broader RfA process with major skepticism. In the online poll, you will get the best advice one could expect from the small (but austere) group of page watchers on the poll. Supposing the poll likes you as much as we do, we'd need to find you some first class nominators. Pending results of the online poll I'd be happy to nominate but the process will go easier if more legendary editors choose to nominate. You might get offers to nominate at the poll. So do your reading, make your decision and expect Leek, myself, and A.C. to say encouraging things as appropriate. BusterD (talk) 17:56, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- I should add: I will stay with you during this process until I'm no longer needed or until you kick me out. You are not alone, really, you are not alone. The community is eager, nay anxious, for great candidates to put themselves forward. Many in the community will be hoping to see you succeed. Some are skeptical by nature. Thank the powers that be for skepticism. But me, I'm sticking around, so don't EVER feel alone. You are Robin Hood, and I'm Friar Tuck. We'll accumulate our merry band as we go. It will be fun. BusterD (talk) 18:04, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, thanks for all of your help, I'd be so grateful to have your assistance through the process; you'll be the Sam to my Frodo, and we'll create a legendary Fellowship . I will probably start the poll over the weekend, as I'd like to make sure I'm well-read on both policy and advice/tips. Curbon7 (talk) 07:54, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- Just so we're clear, the online poll isn't really an interview. You will introduce yourself and put yourself forward for examination. They won't ask you that many questions. Strangers will look at your user and talk pages, histories and archives. Folks will pull up your contributions, then filter and examine what such edits say about the person making them. This can be a time consuming process. I spent an hour before I sent my first message to you. Leek and A.C. wouldn't have commented with looking well at your data. People at the poll may spend more time and be better at reading such things. Then those watching will give blunt assessment. Because of the well-informed and vastly-experienced sort of participants, they pretty much hit the center of the dart board reliably. So this is more an objective assessment. If you're who you represent yourself to be, then they'll find plenty of things about you to like and perhaps a few places where improvement, confession or a waiting period might be useful. Reading is always useful. Here's an unexpectedly useful reading list: Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index/Principles. It's a lot, but I think of it as a calendar thing. I read one every day. I just started over again. It helps to know what expected behavior is. BusterD (talk) 09:08, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, it took me around a day and a half from start to finish to write it out, but I started my poll. I'm very nervous, but also curious as to see how I'm received. Thanks for all of your help so far. Curbon7 (talk) 09:59, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- In retrospect, I would have said less than more. Right now, get hooked up with two factor authentication. And consider strengthening your email and general security passwords in the next few weeks. But get two factor on right away so you can report it at the poll. I have mentioned this is an un usual process. Generally people at ORCP are trying to help you get ready. If you were going to be rejected, that would be obvious already. BusterD (talk) 16:10, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

Question
“Also, we do allow the use of non-English sources (WP:NOTENG).” I am struggling to find an interpretation of this that is other than “we do not allow the use of non-English sources”. Please help me with this? If you are already aware that sources can be in French or German or Ukrainian, that is good. I am just not entirely sure what I misread there. Thanks Elinruby (talk) 22:12, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- Elinruby, We're on the same page lol. Per WP:NOTENG, non-English sources are allowed to be used. Curbon7 (talk) 22:18, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Aha. I was fooled by the way you said they weren’t. If this was just a shortcut for saying that a tweet probably doesn’t count as an RS anyway, and thus isn’t eligible for for that policy to apply, well and good, i was just...confused. Getting gaslighted a lot right now and it is making me literal, lol. As in gee, I actually use non-English sources quite a bit?Anyway, thanks for clarifying. Elinruby (talk) 22:32, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- (lurker speaks): I hope I am not an en.wikipedian, but a wikipedian. Western English-speakers (especially "my fellow Americans") tend to be somewhat closed-minded to non-English sources, but in many cases the best sources are in a language closer to the subject matter. IMHO, don't shy away from using reliable non-English sources when available, so long as the page text and appropriate citation is written according to MOS. BusterD (talk) 22:38, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Right. But (to use an example that frequently occurs in my life) if the topic is let’s say a 7th century battle in Provence, or a 15th century castle in Normandy, the only source is often the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. I would not be required to limit myself to what it might not say in the Encyclopedia Britannica. I am sorry, I know I am being pedantic, but I have been told otherwise so many times that I feel the need to try to improve awareness on this. Curbon7 was right not to add breaking news to a sensitive page based on a tweeted video in Ukrainian; I just felt a need to take issue with the parenthesis. Over and out and thank you Elinruby (talk) 22:52, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- Elinruby, ah so that's where the confusion came from! WP:NOTENG is just one of the shortcuts for Wikipedia:Verifiability#Non-English sources, which is the policy that we're discussing and are all in agreement on. I'll be sure in the future to use the more clear WP:NONENG so there isn't any confusion. Curbon7 (talk) 00:34, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
K thanks ;) I am familiar with it and thought you weren’t. I’ve just noticed that the phrase that I pasted here says “do allow”, not “do not allow”. How embarrassing. My bad and my apologies. Taking this as a sign that I need a break from trying to explain what is a reliable source to people who think it can’t be in Ukrainian, Going to ease off stage left now, mumbling to myself, and go work on something nice and soothing like cell tower spoofing and shell corporations. Thanks for the lulz, sorry to be the one providing them. Elinruby (talk) 01:18, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

I'm Ed6767, the original creator of RedWarn, now one of the most popular tools on the English Wikipedia that's been used by over 1,000 Wikimedians to make over 300,000 edits since mid-2020 that's been praised for its user friendliness and ease of use, but criticised for its limited functionality. I'm leaving this message as I think it may be of interest here - I left the RedWarn project in November to develop Teyora, my successor to RedWarn (alongside Chlod's UltraViolet). It's a new in development web app that uses some of the latest web technologies to create a highly extendable all in one editing tool with a focus on administration, counter vandalism and general patrolling - not to mention, it'll work on every Wikimedia project without any prior configuration and can be used by any user with at least auto-confirmed rights*. Now, I'm ready to give the Wikimedia community a first look at what I've been doing over the past six months and what to expect going forward.
You can check out the 20 minute first look at the in development version on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzlpnzXdLP4.
There's lots more to expect too! Why not read the full details page at meta:Teyora and leave any feedback, comments or wishes at meta:Talk:Teyora (please leave any correspondence there to keep discussion centralised). If you're interested, you can leave your signature
*with basic features, advanced features require configuration. To prevent abuse, auto-confirmed users will be in a restricted mode until approved by an admin or via rollback rights.

- Some diffs that show battleground behavior in various areas, very recently as well. Apparently the deleting comments they disagree with isn't restrained to DYK, as per the first diff they did it there too. That said, I think I would prefer not to personally headline the case, as there appears to be a considerable amount going on with it, but I may jump in from the sideline if there's something that is missed. Prod of Battles of Kruty (2022)
Thanks for the PROD suggestion at Battles of Kruty (2022). After I reviewed it, I think that there might be a case for the article now even though it was basically a "snow delete" at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kruty skirmishes. It may well be that a discussion will yield that same result, or maybe not. If you still believe the article should be deleted, please start a new AFD. My reason for making this call is because even though a relatively short period of time has passed, a lot has happened. You might be right--I just would be more comfortable having a few others discuss it.--Paul McDonald (talk) 02:13, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
- Paulmcdonald, fair points and thanks for your respectful handling of this . After thinking for a few days, I decided to re-nom it for AfD. Nothing changed since the last AfD, no new sources exist and the old sources are still completely unverifiable. At worst it's a complete hoax, at best it's just not notable. Curbon7 (talk) 19:10, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
- That's a reasonable outcome/next step.--Paul McDonald (talk) 19:26, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Help in revising my page
Hi Curbon7, I've tried to revise the article that deals with my contributions to the discussion on "global nomadism", "transculturality" and "global mobility" as best as I could. Yes, I know there is a conflict of interest but I hope I have been sufficiently objective and transparent in that regard. I'd appreciate if you could go through the article and let me know if you deem it adhered to Wikipedia standards or whether you would have any further suggestions on how to improve it. Thanks you for your consideration and your help! Arianna — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aridag (talk • contribs) 17:18, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022
Hello Curbon7,
At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.
Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.
In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 809 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 850 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.
This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.
If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Battle of Bakhmut (2022)
I picked this off a list of articles needing a copyedit, and would like to get it to where I feel comfortable taking off the tagging. I see you did a re-write on it and really haven't found much wrong with it (in comparison to what the talk page originally said). Just the sort of minor typos that are common on a heavily edited page. But I did have one question I would like to ask you because I am told you are pretty good at policies, and are apparently familiar with the article.
The dab link at the top (Battle of Bakhmut (1918-1919)) is a redlink. I don't recall seeing this before. I can see why it might be useful; I am just wondering whether you know whether MoS has anything to say about this. Could you please ping me in any reply, or answer on my talk page if you prefer? I am not watching your talk page. Thanks for any brainpower you apply to this question. Elinruby (talk) 13:53, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Thought you might want to know that The Point (studio show) was created again. It doesn’t seem to be ready for the main space but I am not able to move it to draft. It’s much better than the original version though.Esolo5002 (talk) 17:16, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
- It was re-added with sources, so it doesn't need to be moved back to draftspace. Curbon7 (talk) 08:15, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Flag icons in military conflict infoboxes
Hi Curbon7, at Battle of Ivankiv you reverted my edit where I have removed unnecessary flag icons with the comment: Battles are an exception to MOS:INFOBOXFLAG, see for example Battle of Gettysburg.
Battles are not an exception to the "rule" (ie the broad community consensus) and WP:MILMOS#FLAGS is consistent with that at MOS:INFOBOXFLAG. In general, ... icons convey useful information to the reader, or are they merely decorative? Icons that differentiate among several parties (for example, icons used to indicate commander allegiance in Battle of the Atlantic (1939–1945)) are likely to be useful, while icons that convey irrelevant or redundant information are usually not.
When there are only two belligerents sides (as at Ivankiv), flag icons serve no useful purpose and their removal is consistent with the guidance. On the other hand, if there is at least one co-belligerent on one side and entries in other fields where the co-belligerents are need to be distinguished then flag icons can usefully convey this information (see Battle of Buna–Gona as an example). That WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, such as Battle of Gettysburg, only carries weight if it represents "best practice". While Battle of Gettysburg is a GA, the infobox when it was promoted and reviewed are substantially different from that at present and is no longer compliant with guidance on this particular issue and some other matters (particularly such an extensive list of leaders which would be inconsistent with the advice at WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE and the template documentation). The infobox at Gettysberg no longer represents best practice.
Part of the edit at Ivankiv you reinstated entries to the unit parameter which simply stated the "armed forces" of each country. This is redundant information and therefor not consistent with WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE. Furthermore, an hierarchical list starting with a countries armed forces, then a particular branch and so on is also redundant information when actually reporting a particular formation or unit. It is not consistent with WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE
You appear to have made similar reverts to at least these articles: Battle of Brovary, Capture of Chernobyl and Battle of Slavutych where the same considerations were applied. I trust that this is suffient clarification of the validity of these edits. Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 05:02, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Cinderella157, Ok. I'm not a frequent editor of military history, so I'll take your word on it. The only one I don't see is I do think there should be a flagicon for the belligerent parameter, but for the other parameters I can totally see how that's just clutter (I'm assuming an exception is when there are different national entities on the same side, right?). RE: the part about the units, again, not a frequent editor here so I'll take your word for it; in this case, I think it would be preferred to use the brigade involved (with the individual regiments written into the prose instead). Cheers. Curbon7 (talk) 08:25, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- You are correct, flag icons can be useful if there are different nations on the same side. I acknowledge that you think they should be used in the belligerent field but not elsewhere; however, it is usually a quantum choice - and I doubt that most inexperienced editors would understand the distinction you would make. You only have to look at the MOS:FLAGCRUFT in some of these articles, where every possible flag is used. I would generally agree with you about units though it can be a little subtle. We certainly don't need every step in the heirachy from the "armed forces" down. If a formation (say a brigade or division) was the force engaged, then we wouldn't list the individual units making up the formation. If though, a brigade had one of its three combat battalions detached, we might list the remaining two under the brigade in the infobox. The key point (per WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE) is to not bloat the infobox with unnecessary intricate detail. Having said that, I would generally agree with your view on this. Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 09:46, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Saadoun Brahim
The article Saadoun Brahim that you have relocated to my draft space contains 10 references, and these are references normally recognized in Wikipedia. I mean, they are not social media postings. All claims in the article are based exclusively on these references. As a result, I see you page move action as vandalism that I have reverted. Please refrain from doing unweighted actions like this. Audriusa (talk) 09:19, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
- Audriusa, I moved it to draftspace so it can be worked on in a safe environment where it won't be at risk of deletion, as the article at the moment is formatted very poorly, not neutral, and the claim to notability is very thin with regards to WP:BLP1E. The fact that you can't see that I was literally trying to help you is baffling. And accusing me of vandalism? Fuck off with that shit. How dare you accuse me of "page move vandalism". Hello, Curbon7
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Bruxton, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Joe Giglio, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Bruxton}}
. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

I did not speed tag the Joe Giglio article. I checked the references and they are less than WP:BARE. Unfortunately I may have to send it to deletion. Bruxton (talk) 23:47, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- He's obviously notable per WP:NPOL. I see you just got the NPR perm today, so it's ok, and I understand where the confusion comes from, as our notability guidelines are vast and often contradictory; however, it is imperative to at least have a grasp on some of the more frequent WP:SNGs, like WP:NPOL and WP:NPROF. Curbon7 (talk) 23:51, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello Curbon7,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 11622 articles, as of 02:00, 6 November 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Nadarius Clark moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Nadarius Clark, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Dr. Blazer (talk) 02:28, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Dr. Blazer! A few things to note: (1) Clark is notable per WP:NPOL; as such, as long as a sources is cited which confirms this, it is good to go. (2) Articles older than around 90 days should generally not be draftified, per WP:DRAFTIFY; other routes, such as AfD (if it's non-notable) should be taken instead. (3) Articles that have gone through the New page patrol process should not be draftified, as this indicates that a reviewer believes it to be sufficiently notable; thus, as in the last one, other routes should be explored if you feel it is unsuitable. (4) Consider adding the following gadget: User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/Draftify. It is very convenient for draftifying articles so you don't have to do as much manual work! Curbon7 (talk) 02:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

- CollectiveSolidarity yes. I didn't create the draft, I just draftified it, but that user appears to have moved it back manually. Will request a WP:HISTMERGE. Curbon7 (talk) 11:24, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Hello!
What's wrong with the book "Estrada in Russia. XX century. Encyclopedia"? This book was prepared by the team of the State Institute of Art Studies (Государственный институт искусствознания) employees, edited by Elizaveta Uvarova (Doctor of Sciences in the field of art history (1985), Professor (1993)), and published in 2004. It's the main scientific work dedicated to Russian and Soviet XX century estrada. There is no reason to doubt the reliability of this source. The article dedicated to estrada duet Rudakov & Nechayev is on the pages 584-585. Also this estrada duet is mentioned on the page 322, in the article dedicated to the coupletist genre. Moreover, Pavel Rudakov is mentioned on other pages as a mentor of different performers. I think it's enough to match the General notability guideline. K8M8S8 (talk) 06:43, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- K8M8S8, I agree that he's probably notable, but over half of the article is currently unsourced. Please cite one or two additional sources that provide WP:SIGCOV and it should be good to go. Curbon7 (talk) 11:32, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

- Iseult, Fair enough. Generally, I figure nobles who held enough land to form a county are more-or-less notable, but that's a fair interpretation for this particular case. Cheers. Curbon7 (talk) 13:55, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for reverting the change for lack of valid citation. DYK for Kasymaly Jantöshev
On 8 July 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kasymaly Jantöshev, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 1955 satirical comedy play by Kasymaly Jantöshev was one of the first signs of the relaxation of Soviet literary restrictions after the death of Joseph Stalin? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kasymaly Jantöshev. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kasymaly Jantöshev), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Categories during AfC cleanup
Hi, pretty sure this was a copy-paste mistake of some sort, but just wanted to drop you a line to note that I've removed the living people related categories you added in this diff to the article Claude Frédéric t'Serclaes, Count of Tilly. Happy editing! Ljleppan (talk) 08:46, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- Ljleppan, the AfC tool freaks out when a reviewer doesn't put in a death date into the parameter box and will categorize them into Category:Living people, so we usually have to manually remove the cat. Sorry, forgot to do this last part. Curbon7 (talk) 11:25, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- No worries, these things happen. Good to know about the death date too, for future reference :) Ljleppan (talk) 13:29, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

Very nice of you to kitten me a while back
Low gumption. Not for any specific reason. Needed to step back for a minute. I know from experience when I exceed my willingness my pagework is not very impressive. No energy to edit so I stopped editing. Worked on my health and meditation. I still read a lot of pedia, even boards. Following your work. Saw some places where we might find disagreement. But as I ripen I value differing points of view more than I once did. BOLD and AGF are my guiding stars. As wikipedians, disagreement is where we live.
I hope you and yours are well. I'm enormously grateful that you thought of me. BusterD (talk) 16:01, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, we all need breaks every now and again, WP can be stressful at times and burnout is real. I took some time off from editing in May while I was visiting family, and it felt really refreshing. I've gotten back into article creation, mainly saving doomed drafts that are notable. If you ever find yourself with some time and don't know what to do, I have them sorted in subpages at my sandbox. The list is infinitely expanding for as long as SDZeroBot publishes the daily declination/weekly draftification reports. Right now though I'm working on an article from scratch: Draft:Betty Hall (politician), who was an absolutely fascinating person ([7][8]). It's obviously not in publishing state at the moment (I'm still in the word-vomit phase), but I'm on the cusp of finishing the hardest part and I can't wait to see the end product. I'm aiming for GA, so I'm trying to get it as good and as whole of a picture as possible. Curbon7 (talk) 17:30, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- As you can also see here, I still haven't fixed my issue of typing way too much lol. It's gotten better though. Curbon7 (talk) 17:41, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- Too much rough draft is a great place to start. I once complimented a fellow train rider on her seeming ability to just throw stuff down on the page without thinking. She appreciated the notice because she said facility and willingness was a challenge for her until she started doing daily pages (a part of The Artist's Way). I'm a firm believer in throwing spitballs at the wall to see what sticks. I get sentimental about some subjects myself, get drawn into caring so much it's harder for me to edit. I can't explain it and I've been re-learning new page patrol to help shake the habit. But Betty's a sweet subject, I agree. BusterD (talk) 18:11, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- As you can also see here, I still haven't fixed my issue of typing way too much lol. It's gotten better though. Curbon7 (talk) 17:41, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
Bad draftifying; see NPOL. TrangaBellam (talk) 18:18, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
- TrangaBellam, to be completely honest, I have no idea why I draftified that. Thanks for catching my mistake! Curbon7 (talk) 18:20, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing my error on Matt Gaetz. I know it was done in Marjorie Taylor Greene’s page, so is it only before the word politician we can’t do it? Bbraxtonlee (talk) 04:00, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Generally yeah, we don't want to use ideological descriptors in the first sentence like that before politician (heck, we don't even do that with Hitler). MTG is a different case because the far-right descriptor is attached to conspiracy theorist. Curbon7 (talk) 15:05, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

hello you have declined my article yesterday, after seeing why it is declined I have corrected the article please give a check and review my article if there is something more to improve let me know Thanks Koundinyajayanth (talk) 06:21, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick review. Can you please offer assistance regarding any unreliable/non-independent sources in the draft? Which portions of the draft require additional sourcing, given that much of Sparrow's early career pre-dates online references? Thanks again, Danceswithedits (talk) 16:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Danceswithedits, As this is a WP:BLP, all statements need to be properly cited with reliable and independent sources. Almost all of the Broadcasting Career, Museum & Library Career, and Other Activities sections lack this, as well as part of the Early Career & Education section. We do accept the use of offline sources. Curbon7 (talk) 16:35, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks again for the quick reply. Can you please identify any unreliable or un-independent sources? I've added several IMDB, White House Historical Association, Roosevelt Institute and others that all appear to be reliable and/or independent. Thanks again. The external link, also known as roblox.com is not possible to be posted at all, at either way it's not locally blacklisted, not globally blacklisted nor it's even not on monitor list, I need help with whitelisting it. Enternian (talk) 10:45, 23 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey! So you probably don’t remember me but you fixed my edit with Matt Gaetz far-right thing. Well, I tried fixing it like you with Paul Gosar and Wendy Rogers, but they said it was allowed. I believe you, but don’t know how to word it so they won’t revert my change. Can you maybe help? Bbraxtonlee (talk) 05:40, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
I’m sorry they accused me of whitewashing lmao because I used Hitler as an example … Bbraxtonlee (talk) 06:17, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- Bbraxtonlee, Do you remember when I said there are exceptions? Gosar and Rogers are very much the exceptions lol, as they are actually literally far-right. It's kinda nuanced so don't worry about it. Curbon7 (talk) 11:39, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- It's also dependent on local consensus. Curbon7 (talk) 12:14, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
Hey, you recently reviewed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Diagalon and you gave a reason for its denial as "Sources do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject " in total there are currently 19 sources two are "passing mentions" the rest are seemingly reliable sources from seperate independent organisations such as the Canadian Anti-Hate Network. Can you please elaborate on why it was declined? i have resubmitted the draft and is currently awaiting re-review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thingsomyipisntvisable (talk • contribs) 15:12, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thingsomyipisntvisable, WP:FRINGE applies. Just because there is some limited coverage of this crackpot group doesn't mean it meets our notability guidelines for organizations or our general notabiltiy guidelines. It could be very selectively merged to Canada convoy protest (like basically only a sentence), but there isn't enough to warrant a standalone article. To quote from WP:FRINGE, "Because Wikipedia aims to summarize significant opinions with representation in proportion to their prominence, a Wikipedia article should not make a fringe theory appear more notable or more widely accepted than it is". Curbon7 (talk) 15:19, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- if in theory i indluded how many "members" are speculated as according to sources this includes all forms of Diagalon banned media ( https://ragingdissident.com/ ) "Because Wikipedia aims to summarize significant opinions with representation in proportion to their prominence, a Wikipedia article should not make a fringe theory appear more notable or more widely accepted than it is". then **in theory** that would be okay right?
- "there isn't enough to warrant a standalone article" does this just mean i need more sources? Thingsomyipisntvisable (talk) 15:25, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- dont get me wrong i dont plan on using Diagalon banned media as a source it is purley an example of "widespread" support Thingsomyipisntvisable (talk) 15:27, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thingsomyipisntvisable, at this point, I think you may find better help at the AfC Help Desk or the Fringe theories/Noticeboard. Curbon7 (talk) 15:54, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello, how can I improve sourcing here? I am citing 3 websites and 4 books. Is there anything wrong with the cited sources? Jchw1994 (talk) 16:06, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- Jchw1994, Sources must be reliable and independent. Notability is determined by how significant the coverage is, not just how many sources are cited. Curbon7 (talk) 16:36, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
Hi, can you suggest how I could make my sources better for the page above? All cited sources are independent, so I'm wondering if there's a length(in pages?) that makes an article or book chapter significant enough to be of value? Thank you in advance! Artistsbooksforever (talk) 14:15, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Artistsbooksforever, In order to demonstrate notability, sources do need to be reliable and independent, but also need to to provide significant coverage of the subject. It may be beneficial to view our notability criteria for corporations and organizations. If there are offline sources that provide SIGCOV, are reliable, and are independent, these can certainly be used! Curbon7 (talk) 14:37, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

- Per WP:OFFLINE, we would typically just assume good-faith that the claims made are in the offline source. If those offline sources are on Google Books, it would definitely help, but it's not a biggie. Curbon7 (talk) 16:11, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

- The format for literally every other cat in the Category:Alumni by university or college tree (and the Category:Faculty by university or college tree for that matter) is University of such-and-such alumni, so it's clear that that is the format of choice. I figured it was uncontroversial enough to bypass the bureaucracy of taking a 14 year old misnamed category to CfD since it is the format for literally every other cat, but I can rvt and CfD if you want. (I probably should've left a better edit summary tho). Curbon7 (talk) 21:29, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022
Hello Curbon7,
- Backlog status
After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.
Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.
- Coordination
- MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
- Open letter to the WMF
- The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
- TIP - Reviewing by subject
- Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
- New reviewers
- The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Autopatrolled granted
Hi Curbon7, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed' and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned prolific creators of articles where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! — TheresNoTime (talk • she/her) 22:07, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Ryszard Frąckiewicz AfD / Trove
Hi - if you're not already aware, for your information and perhaps for future BEFORE work, just wanted to draw your attention to the Australian newspaper digital archive called Trove, maintained by the National Library of Australia. I was able to find material on Frąckiewicz very simply. Trove material (AFAIK) is not indexed in Google or newspapers.com. For any Australian-related subjects, I personally find use of Trove a must. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:27, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- Goldsztajn, thanks for the heads up! I use Newspapers.com and it only really has substantial archives of the US and parts of England, so Trove will definitely be useful. Curbon7 (talk) 02:21, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
G13s
Hello, Curbon7,
I've noticed that recently, you have postponed deletion on some drafts that were due to expire soon. There's nothing wrong with that and there are several other editors who used to do this regularly. I just wanted to let you know about the very helpful lists put together by SDZeroBot. In particular, you might be interested in reviewing User:SDZeroBot/G13 soon sorting which sorts upcoming G13 drafts according to subject area in case your interest is focused on a particular subject matter on the project. The most up-to-date list that we use to review G13s is User:SDZeroBot/G13 soon which alerts us to drafts that are expiring in a week. I hope this helps with you "rescuing" promising drafts! Liz Read! Talk! 03:40, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Liz, thanks! I do use User:SDZeroBot/G13 soon, in addition to User:SDZeroBot/Recent AfC declines and User:SDZeroBot/Draftify Watch, and then sort the ones that I think are workable into subpages. It's a constantly losing battle, as more pages are added to the list than I can make them (as I would rather produce 1 good quality article than 10 sub-stubs), but it's a great place to get ideas for articles! Curbon7 (talk) 02:35, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
- It IS kind of a losing battle. DGG used to "save" so many promising articles from G13 deletion but it was more drafts than he could work on himself. Few editors, there are a few but not many, go to help out improve drafts as most of the focus among experienced editors is on main space articles. I think the saddest thing I see reviewing G13 drafts all day is that there are new editors who come to Wikipedia and create a very promising draft, picking up some good editing skills along the way, and then they just never come back to finish their work! They come for an intense week of editing and learning about policy and they might not even still be here when the draft gets reviewed by AFC or maybe they don't even get around to submitting the draft and they are gone!
- A few times a week, an inactive editor will show up at WP:REFUND and request their draft to be restored and that is great to see. REFUND is an antidote to all of the deletion work I do! Unfortunately, many of the REFUND requests are for main space articles that are legitimately deleted via CSD or AFD so it's refreshing to restore a G13 draft when an editor expects to return to working on it. Sometimes, it's just wishful thinking but other times, they actually return to finish their drafts. Liz Read! Talk! 00:35, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Afghan Wahhabists
A tag has been placed on Category:Afghan Wahhabists indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hello! I saw that you commented on my draft a couple months ago on Agust 17th, 2022! I saw that you wrote "Could be notable", could I get clarification or elaboration on what this means? Do you believe that this article has the potential of becoming published and official? LoremIpsum442123 (talk) 00:42, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- LoremIpsum442123: eyeballing it, he is more likely than not to be notable. However, this must be definitively proven by the usage of reliable sources that provide significant coverage of the subject. Many entire paragraphs are completely unsourced at the moment. Hmmmmmm
Hello, Curbon7,
I can usually see the value in the draft articles that you "save" from CSD G13 deletion but do you really think Draft:Samson Mwita Marwa is promising enough to be a main space article? If you can salvage some of this content and make it encyclopedia and well-cited, well, you are a better editor than I am! Liz Read! Talk! 02:12, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- Liz, Oh yeah that one is really awful, but there is still value in having the raw original content for the valuable little gold nuggets in the pile of dung. It is helpful to keep some details in memory; obviously most details in the draft, such as him being "the only uncircumcised boy in his class", are completely useless trivia for our purposes, but I find it immensely valuable that the original author wrote specific offices and specific dates he held those offices. Thus, instead of starting from scratch, this gives a baseline of content to start with; as the author had to have gotten this information from somewhere, it makes it easier to search for the specific sources needed, such as election results or honing in on new biographical data. Sure enough, by selecting specific keywords based on the OG draft, I was able to come across this biographical entry; if I can determine if this book is reliable, then I think I can stretch this to be start-class; if not for discovering that source, it would likely be a 2 sentence stub.
- Additionally, though I create the articles in mainspace under my own name because I write them from scratch, I do like to redirect these original draft versions to my version of the article to show where the inspiration came from. Curbon7 (talk) 04:53, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- Well, you are certainly fighting the good fight here. Thanks for being able to see the gold nuggets hidden in the dung! We could use more editors like you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:59, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- Liz, I was able to get the article (Samson Mwita Marwa) to start-class. 302 words isn't too bad considering what little I had to work with. Curbon7 (talk) 06:12, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

Muckraking
I'm glad to see you're making bold assertions and I'd like to discuss this MfD, if you don't mind. I'm all about bringing history into a modern context and agree that sometimes changes are needed. But IMHO the userbox thing demonstrates more about the nominators than about the nominated. Deleting entire user pages is outrageous practice for reasons having nothing to do with content. I'd be happy to engage with you if you were willing. We may disagree but I think I have something to learn here. Please help me. BusterD (talk) 12:01, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, Always glad to see you! My logic here was in relation to SmokeyJoe's rationale on the other MfDs for the userboxen, in which Joe argued that since those userboxen had no pageviews and no uses, MfDing was only drawing unneeded attention to them, and that it would have been preferred to just silently blank them. That is a completely valid argument, but I disagreed there, as I think inflammatory and hateful userboxen should be explicitly deleted, to make it clear that hate is not welcome here. However, with regards to the userpage, seeing as it was a user who had only made 7 edits during their tenure, and their last edit was 6 years ago, and the userbox in question is manually written in, I think it would have just been preferable to just remove it from the userpage and be done with it, instead of blowing it up more.
- I concur with your statement that "Deleting entire userpages because we merely disagree with username choice, implied by userbox choice, is disturbingly close to censorship". I think that there is a distinction between deleting a userbox, which is relatively minor but can be used by other users, and deleting an entire singular userpage when there is an easier alternative. The latter can become quickly problematic and, as you said, censorious. This is very nuanced, but I hope that I explained my logic well enough Curbon7 (talk) 18:05, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- I have asked SmokeyJoe's thoughts as well. My concern is largely perceptual, but I take issues when wikipedians attempt to right great wrongs in user space. I've been keenly aware from my first edits that page history would eventually tell my tale so I don't put offensive stuff on my own page if I can avoid doing so. Deciding where the line is to be drawn deserves a broader discussion than one inbox at a time. BusterD (talk) 22:59, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- BusterD, I've only just realized, when I said muckraking, I actually meant ragpicking. Got my compound words a little mixed up there lol. Although I suppose muckraking can also apply technically. Curbon7 (talk) 02:45, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Betty Hall for issues which need to be addressed. The article Betty Hall you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Betty Hall for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. NPOL Comment at AfD of Bouchaib Benlabsir
Hi - I noticed your comment about the applicability of NPOL: "served in a national or provincial legislature (latter only if it is a federal country)." I wrote this which might interest you: WP:NSUBPOL. There's more than a few cases of non-federal polities with subnational legislatures that satisfy NPOL. Florida 2024
What makes the Florida Senate Race too soon to have its own article but not all the other 2024 Senate races? The incumbent has declared and a serious challenger has legitimately expressed interest! Every other race with a declared incumbent has an article, even races without a declared incumbent have articles. But for some reason you have an issue with Florida having one! If there was an error in how I created the page then fix the error. I copied how the Texas page was done but fixed everything to read Florida, I'm sure there was mistakes in there! I put the same question in the talk page on the Florida 2024 Senate race page but never got a response Dickeyaustin786 (talk) 02:52, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Generally with election articles this far out from the election, there has to be more coverage than just "incumbent declared" and "someone said maybepossibly 2 years ago". There has to be something to make it relevant; a major challenger declared, a big scandal, etc, because otherwise the article just says nothing. Curbon7 (talk) 07:23, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello Curbon7,
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.
Suggestions:
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
Backlog:
Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

Notability tag on Jeremy Kauffman's article.
Hey @Curbon7, I noticed that you have placed the notability tag on Jeremy Kauffman's article again. To my knowledge, all claims are adequately cited, and all information is supported by secondary sources that are independent of the subject. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have to improve this article. Riverbend21 (talk) 06:52, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Riverbend21, In my view, his notability is marginal at best. While his company is notable, that does not necessarily equate to him being notable; in turn, many of the news articles about LBRY are about LBRY not about Kauffman. As far as political antics, that seems to be mostly in relation to a series of tweets relating to the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire, and as such is covered at that article. Profiles, such as Ballotpedia and this, are fine as supplementary sources, but on their own do not demonstrate notability. Curbon7 (talk) 07:17, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Early end of the backlog drive
A few days ago, new page patrollers got the backlog to zero. Due to the unprecedented success of the backlog drive, it will be ending early—at the end of 24 October, or in approximately two hours.
Barnstars will be awarded as soon as the coords can tally the results. Streak awards will be allocated based on the first three weeks of the drive, with the last three days being counted as part of week three.
Great work everyone! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Betty Hall
On 25 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Betty Hall, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Betty Hall introduced a New Hampshire bill that would have petitioned the United States Congress to impeach George W. Bush? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Betty Hall. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Betty Hall), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Politics userboxes
Hey @Curbon7. Did you accidentally remove your Politics userbox section from your userpage[9][10]? X-Editor (talk) 01:23, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- X-Editor, Not an accident. I came to find the political userboxen to be largely irrelevant and a bit preachy as they became excessive; also, contrary to what some may say, being the subject of a Twitter post was not a positive experience. I am still very aware and careful with my biases, and if someone asks, I'll gladly say where I sit, but I largely don't see the need to put it on a billboard. Curbon7 (talk) 02:54, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Curbon7: Good to know. Thanks! I'd also like to add that your articles on political figures look very impressive. What is your process for creating these articles? X-Editor (talk) 03:45, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- X-Editor, To find ideas, I patrol SDZeroBot reports (namely, Draftify Watch, G13 soon, and Recent AfC declines), compile them into a subpages in my sandbox based on topic (such as User:Curbon7/sandbox/Politicians).
- When writing, I like to compile all the sources first, then I throw all of the information onto the draft haphazardly (which is very helpful for when sources conflict), then pull all the prose together, and then add sources at the very end. You can see this process with the one I've been working on right now: Draft:Sedrak Saroyan. Sometimes this process can take only a few hours (Samson Mwita Marwa) and sometimes it is a month-long endeavor (Betty Hall).
- I like to create articles as complete and holistic as possible, so I try to use every possible source I have available to me, as I dislike creating stubs. Sometimes, the sources I have available to me (Google, GBooks, newspapers.com) don't have a lot to say about a person and so there is no choice but a stub (example), even though I'm sure offline sources about this person exist. Curbon7 (talk) 19:01, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Curbon7: Thanks for explaining your process. Keep up the good work! X-Editor (talk) 19:10, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello @Curbon7, can i know the reason why Draft:Mike_Afolarin was rejected, so i can make correction on it, thanks Yemsquare (talk) 12:45, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yemsquare, The entire thing seems like nothing more than an attempt at promotion for the subject. From the external social media links to the photographs, this reeks of promotional editing. Curbon7 (talk) 12:57, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- So can i rectify it and publish it again Yemsquare (talk) 12:59, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yemsquare, When an article is rejected instead of declined, it cannot be resubmitted for review. The article has to be fundamentally rewritten in order to even come close to being encyclopedic. If you can manage this competently, and I'm telling you outright that I'm extremely doubtful at the prospects and it may be more worth your time to do something else, I will unreject and leave it up for another reviewer to review; but if I smell even an ounce of bs promotion, it's staying rejected. If you can manage this competently, and I'm telling you outright that I'm extremely doubtful at the prospects and it may be more worth your time to do something else, I will unreject and leave it up for another reviewer to review; but if I smell even an ounce of bs promotion, it's staying rejected. Curbon7 (talk) 13:08, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

False
In a stub or an article of this size there is "no lede".Extraordinary2 (talk) 20:48, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Extraordinary2: the lede is just the introductory portion of the article, not a typical journalistic lede. I fixed it up, as I concur there were some issues with it. Curbon7 (talk) 20:50, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- You should not remove the statement from the 2022 page. Extraordinary2 (talk) 20:53, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

- Don't know where to start. You're wrong. I'll have to source it. Why aren't you sourcing it? Put the statement back on the 2022 page. You have errors all over. Extraordinary2 (talk) 21:15, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Are you listening?Extraordinary2 (talk) 21:23, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- Extraordinary2, I don't see what the issue is. The statement on the DS article was re-added with a source, and the change to the 2022 article was mostly grammatical. Curbon7 (talk) 21:35, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- The issue is you are wrong more than once. See the talk pg on 2022. Extraordinary2 (talk) 21:39, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Elizium23. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, List of Saint Thomas Christians, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Elizium23 (talk) 22:52, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Elizium23, I was still working on the source, plus I think I know how to reference. Instead of insta-reverting and sending a tinned RedWarn message, you could've just waited a sec or written a personalized message. Curbon7 (talk) 23:00, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, but 99% of editors don't follow up unreferenced edits with a good source. You've proved the exception here, and thanks for that. Elizium23 (talk) 23:02, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- I knew that 👍. I've developed the reply now as a standard reply when pinged or otherwise asked to visit AfD on an acceptance of mine. I have a view that a reviewer should never be embarrassed when an acceptance is sent for deletion. A long time ago I decided neutrality was best, lest in defending my work I over-defend an article that ay genuinely require deletion 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 19:36, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Ron Klimko - Rfd
I started a RFD discussion consistent with next steps outlined in the prod process. In my opinion, to improve the article to an acceptable standard would involve finding sources (tried) or deleting unsupported statements (blanking - not acceptable). I cannot find any sources of merit let alone quality sources. I perceive the article has been written as a memorial; for a subject that is not notable. New pages
If you create new articles on Wikipedia you understand people will edit them. You can't expect them to stay the same.Extraordinary2 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 00:11, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Extraordinary2, Do you want to be indefinitely blocked so badly? Do you really think you did nothing wrong? I have no issue with other editors editing content I create, as I do not own anything I write; on the contrary, you were blocked because you harassed me by following me to several articles I created and intentionally inserted errors in order to vex me because of a "dispute" we were engaged in on another article. DeSantis
Hey Nick, My post for DeSantis was on the discussion page and therefore did NOT violate any rules. I await your apology... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talk • contribs) 04:10, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oknevermind, It is a WP:BLP violation of the utmost level to assert that someone committed torture and war crimes without very reliable sources. I found this 2018 Miami Herald article which states that as a JAG officer, DeSantis aided in the legal defense of the detained. Now, I assume you are asserting basing on this podcast segment, where a supposed former detainee alleges that DeSantis was involved in torture at GITMO. Wikipedia operates based on reliable sources; that has to be one of the most unreliable sources I've ever seen, besides the fact that it is a primary source. If there was even a modicum of a scoop here, a mainstream outlet would've picked it up a long time ago. Curbon7 (talk) 04:25, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
It was covered by Rebel HQ, Secular Talk, AND The Empire Files. Still awaiting your apology... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talk • contribs) 04:31, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oknevermind, I already explained that it must be covered by reliable sources. The Young Turks, Secular Talk, and The Empire Files are not or do not appear to be reliable sources. Reliable sources are fact-checked, and have editorial oversight, which none of those 3 appear to have. Curbon7 (talk) 04:37, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
Good lord, I hope you don't think Fox News is a reliable source. The guy accusing DeSantis was LITERALLY a firsthand witness. You can't get a more reliable source than that. Still awaiting your apology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talk • contribs) 06:16, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oknevermind, just for the record, I don't like DeSantis and I voted for Crist. Back to the topic, The guy being a "firsthand witness" shows that this is a primary source. A NYT investigation, a CNN report, etc, are secondary sources; we need those. Primary sources are impossible to verify and are subject to no editorial oversight or fact checking. Basically, we are just taking this guy at his word. Our Biographies of living persons policy is very strict about what is and is not allowed on Wikipedia with regards to living people (due to defamation laws, libel, etc), and it essentially boils down to the strength of the sourcing; if the sourcing is very weak at the moment, such as in this case, than the appropriate course of action would be to exclude the content for now. I really hope this helps you understand how crucial our BLP policy is. Curbon7 (talk) 06:27, 26 November 2022 (UTC)
So I appreciate you clarifying Wikipedia's policies, but I DID comment on the discussion page and not the article itself. It was wrong of you to threaten to suspend my editing privileges. And no, I did NOT think you were a partisan DeSantis supporter acting in bad faith. With that olive branch, I wish you a good night, my friend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oknevermind (talk • contribs) 07:27, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

I saw your message that you were unable to tag this. Earlier today, one of my Twinkle taggings got an error halfway through that I was blocked from editing (which luckily wasn't true). Hello wiki team,
Thank you for guiding me in creating a decent informative page.
Swapno Sarothi is a tiny charity that assists the needy in the village. Mostly works in education. However, they do not run for commercial purposes. As a result, they do not have well-known news sources such as BBC/CNN or local top.
But they are undeniably doing well. There are good reputations on social media. but not on websites Though you dont allow social links, i can not provide them. However, they have Registered by govt.
if you allow this organization to publish in wiki, it will helpful for visitors.

My Submission Draft:Mark G. Contreras
Hi Curbon
Please can you give me some guidance as I am unsure what I need to cite? Everything that needs a website or a link has one and footnotes have been applied. Can you give me an example because your reason for decline (while it must be valid) was very loose with little information so I don't know how to correct the errors. Can you mark on the document or show me where I need to make changes please? Many thanks EmmaSRC (talk) 17:16, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
- EmmaSRC, As Contreras is a living person, he is subject to our BLP policy. Due to legal reasons, everything in a BLP (biography of a living person) must be cited with reliable and independent sources; these should be cited at the end of a sentence or paragraph, as you have partially done. Curbon7 (talk) 18:07, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
- I don't understand - so do you mean that I've cited all the publications etc but everything else must also be cited? For example, his personal life and who he's married to? ALso his education etc? Even this type of information please?
- He has led several institutions through digital disruption and transformation. Contreras’ background includes digital media, television broadcasting, higher education, administration and publishing.
- Contreras’ digital, media, publishing and broadcasting experience spans several decades. He has led public, private and non-profit organizations since beginning his career in the 1980s.
- He is also an experienced company board director of private and ESOP companies, as well as several non-profit organizations.
- I have been employed to write about Mark Contreras so all the information comes directly from him and is confirmed by him.
- Please can you advise?
- Many thanks
- Best wishes 2A00:23C5:CF00:C601:3992:EAF:C709:EED2 (talk) 08:43, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- Perhaps you could help me by telling me exactly what I need to do and where because at the moment, I don't know where I need to cite more information? Thanks 2A00:23C5:CF00:C601:F422:AA59:98D9:2F57 (talk) 12:33, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- I won't walk you through the entire article as you are being paid, but I'll give you a general response. As a gauge-check, a little blue number is needed at the end of every claim. These must be sourced to reliable, independent, and secondary sources (i.e. from the guy himself generally isn't good enough). Everything must be cited in a BLP or else that portion may be removed until a source is provided. Our BLP policy is non-negotiable. If you need more help, then I would urge you to go to the AfC Help Desk or the Teahouse or the general help desk. Curbon7 (talk) 15:28, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

Request on 22:05:04, 13 December 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by MAD2022
I would like to know specifically how my article on Stony Sugarskull still falls afoul of the Wikipedia guidelines regarding notability. I added 3 articles from the rock magazine Louder Than War - a notable publication which has its own Wikipedia page - as well as three separate articles mentioning the band over a 3-year period, including two articles written by LTW's editorial board in which Stony's albums were selected as being among the best albums of their respective years of release. How far short does this fall in regards to notability, in your opinion, and why?

Rejection of my Article Draft
Courtesy link: Draft:Anti-Italian American Discrimination at CUNY
I included primary source documents. 95 percent of the draft was primary source. What more reliable sources do I need? These are direct quotes of the primary documents. 69.127.44.36 (talk) 02:50, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- I meant to include my name this is Dr. Christopher Binetti. Christopher Binetti (talk) 02:51, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- Christopher Binetti, Wikipedia articles must be written primarily with secondary sources; primary sources are ok in little sprinkles, but an article should not be based entirely on a primary source. Additionally, the inline citation style is extremely unclear; I'd recommend reading Help:Referencing for beginners, as we use an encyclopedic referencing style rather than the legal referencing style you may be used to. As my friend Red-tailed hawk stated in a comment on the draft, there is a good chance this may be notable enough to at least warrant a section in the CUNY article; your goals at the moment should thus be to find secondary sources (these could be legal reviews/critiques of the case, news articles, etc.) and keep reliance on the case as a primary source to a minimum and clean-up the inline citation style to fit with our style. Additionally, the draft needs to be turned into an encyclopedic article instead of a raw case law review; remove or condense extraneous information, section into more succinct paragraphs, and keep focus tight as it can be easy to stray off-track with a broad topic like this.
