Thanks Dave, I'll look at updating the Stormy Six article. BTW I saw you (and Chris) on the new Romantic Warriors: Rock in Opposition DVD. I'm looking at creating an article on that too. Kind regards. —Bruce1ee 15:02, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Adminship

Aloha! I see that you were offered nominations for adminship in 2007 and 2009 and declined, but I would like to offer you nomination again. I think they would probably love your help around DYK, and I've noticed you've done a fair amount of work around WP:UAA and WP:AIV, as well as some stuff at Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports. All in all I think you would stand a very good chance at RfA and be a large net positive as an admin. Is this something you might be willing to consider? Ks0stm (TCGE) 12:59, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, but I'm going to stick with my previous decisions to decline. As I've said before, my work here is sporadic and I don't want to commit myself to the responsibilities of an admin as I won't always have the time. I'm quite happy "gnoming" about at my own pace with no pressure or expectations. —Bruce1ee 13:57, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Re: Music for a Time of War

Thank you so much for your assistance and for taking time to review this article. Please let me know if there are any other concerns that need to be addressed. Following GA promotion (I am assuming we'll get there even if more work remains!), I will incorporate the final sources into the article and take it to FAC. Thanks again! Working on this article has reminded my why I love Wikipedia... not that I ever forgot... :) --Another Believer (Talk) 16:55, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

No problem, I've enjoyed it! Everything looks fine and I've promoted the article to GA. Good luck with the FAC. —Bruce1ee 06:40, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

License tagging for File:RomanticWarriorsII DVDcover.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:RomanticWarriorsII DVDcover.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. TemplateData is here

Hey Bruce1ee

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:50, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

That sounds interesting, I'll have a look at it next week. —Bruce1ee 07:24, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Over-zealous editing?

Hi Bruce1ee, Could you please let me know why you deleted the review I added to the article on WOOF RECORDS? It states clearly who the author of the review is, and when I uploaded the image I made it very clear that I had permission from the author to use it. Joekafka — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joekafka (talkcontribs) 14:07, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Joe, I didn't delete the image, Diannaa deleted it here. All I did was to delete the red-link in Woof (label) to the now-deleted image here. Diannaa's reason for deleting the image was "No evidence of permission for more than 7 days". If you want to use the NME review as a source for Woof Records, all you need to do is cite it as an offline source. If you're not sure how to do it, give me the reviewer's name, and the NME issue and page number, and I'll add it for you. I have several Woof albums, so I have an interest in this label. —Bruce1ee 15:27, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:FredFrith VHScover StepAcrossTheBorder.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:FredFrith VHScover StepAcrossTheBorder.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 06:47, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Pete Townshend

I do not believe that my edit to the article Pete Townshend was vandalism. He subscribed to a child pornography website, strongly indicating that he is a paedophile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.109.104.155 (talk) 13:20, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Townshend admits to having registered with a child porn website, but says he did not download any images. A police forensic examination of his computers vindicated him. Your edits calling him a "paedophile" who "consum[es] child sexual abuse images" without citing any reliable sources violates Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons. —Bruce1ee 13:54, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Nadine Gordimer

She does appear to have been awarded a Rome Prize, which surprised me (I thought you had to be an American to be awarded one.) I can find no online references to it dating to 1984, but I find plenty of mentions in later years, as a "notable past recipient". --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:11, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I see she did when the Rome Prize. Thanks for the update. I've added a Los Angeles Times reference as the UNHCR reference only says that she was "writer in residence at the American Academy in Rome", not that she won the prize. —Bruce1ee 07:24, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. To be fair, I think that "writer in residence" at the Academy implies that she did win the prize, as I'm not sure that there's another way to become writer-in-residence. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:03, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:K-Space BareBones.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:K-Space BareBones.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:13, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Proper use of en dash versus em dash. Errors caused by use of em dash script.

According to the Wikipedia article, and supporting references, the en dash (but not the em dash) is also used to indicate spans or differentiation, where it may be considered to replace "and" or "to" (but not "to" in the phrase "from … to …").[1] Example of the use of an en dash given in the article in regard to usage in a date and usage in a differentiation:

The French and Indian War (1754–1763) was fought in western Pennsylvania and along the present US–Canadian border (Edwards, pp. 81–101).

Please do not use the script that you used for making the change in "The Country of the Blind" article indiscriminately. It may cause unneeded revisions. Thank you. Yaquifox (talk) 04:15, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

The script changed the number range separator from a dash to an en dash, that is "June 16-22" to "June 16–22". It didn't use an em dash, which would have given (incorrectly) "June 16—22". I've changed the number range separator back to an en dash per MOS:ENDASH. —Bruce1ee 07:33, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
