Thank you for corrections

Thank you for your corrections to the List of people from Guernsey and the List of people from Jersey. Many attempted additions are of non-notable people from the Channel Islands, and some are of completely irrelevant people, with or without articles.

You have probably seen my additions of people and inline citations, and creation of matching biographies. If you ever see the an attempted addition of a notable person from Guernsey or Jersey, please let me know on my talk page.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 17:56, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of File:MusicalnotesPoland.png

Request for new company article

Hi, I made an edit on [1], that you reversed - the page says requests should be made there for new business page requests. You said not - where else should it go? It said add to the page if a for profit company - which I did, so am really unsure where else it should go? The sub pages it references are non-profit, related articles and people in business. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.203.54 (talk) 09:37, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

You put your request for ISG PLC on the Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Companies page, which is a header page. You need to put it on the Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Companies/A-E#A subpage (see the "Requests for new Company articles" box near the top of the header page). —Bruce1ee 12:12, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks - that didn’t show on my phone, but have since gone on desktop and can see the correct place. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.106.203.54 (talk) 14:02, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

New page request: Zifo RnD Solutions

Hi Bruce, I was trying to get someone to write an article on the company I work for and posted the request here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Business_and_economics/Companies/T-Z ; I received a response from you saying this is not the right page to post in. Can you please let me know where I can take this request? I am looking to publish this article as soon as possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayyappan Ramachandran (talkcontribs) 07:01, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

I can see your request for Zifo RnD Solutions at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Business and economics/Companies/T-Z, and it is on the correct page. All you can do now is wait until an editor picks it up and creates the article for you. Remember that Wikipedia is a volunteer service, which means that there are no people dedicated to creating articles, only those who volunteer to do so at any time they wish. So it is impossible to tell when your request will be fulfilled. I hope that helps. —Bruce1ee 07:20, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick response, Bruce. I have been waiting for over a year for someone to take up this request and write an article on, but there have been no takers. Does this mean I can take it up myself and start writing it factually? Please advise on the implications. As said before, I work for this company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayyappan Ramachandran (talkcontribs) 05:36, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
Creating the article yourself would create a conflict of interest, which is discouraged on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for details, which also spells out what options are available to you. —Bruce1ee 07:46, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your time and effort in responding and guiding, Bruce. I made my request to editors to write about the company only after I read this. This does not seem to have any other option if no editor has picked my request. What do you suggest I can do, Bruce? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayyappan Ramachandran (talkcontribs) 06:30, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
There isn't anything more you can do except wait. As I said above, Wikipedia is a volunteer service. I'm sorry, I can't help you any further. —Bruce1ee 08:47, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

On 10 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mickey au Camp de Gurs, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Horst Rosenthal's 1942 comic Mickey au Camp de Gurs is "perhaps the earliest sequential art narrative dealing with the Holocaust"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mickey au Camp de Gurs. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mickey au Camp de Gurs), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Updating and editing my article

Hi Bruce 1ee, My name is Bob Drake, and the article in question is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Drake_(musician)

It's very out of date, mostly dwelling on stuff from decades ago, and I feel it gives a wrong impression of my music, especially the terrible description "Deliverence in the hands of Hitchcock". (sadly, when people not familiar with the banjo hear the instrument, they think of the film Deliverence...it's a real shame...)

There are some broken links, and no mention of my solo tours which I've been doing for years now. Also, the photos are nearly 13 years old! I have asked some of the people who have taken recent photos of me to replace them, but they always revert to those very bad, and very old ones.

What would I have to do to beg someone to make some changes? I don't like sending anyone to the article because it's so out of date...

Please let me know, thanks! Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.249.137.116 (talk) 15:26, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bob, good to hear from you! I'd be happy to help. What specifically is it you would like to see changed? I see user Ennuiadams made some changes to your article earlier this month. Is that what you wanted? I see Ennuiadams also tried to add this picture – is that the picture you wanted? Of course you can always edit the article yourself, but you do need to keep in mind Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest. I hope this helps. Kind regards —Bruce1ee 17:33, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi Bruce, I can't figure out how to reply to your reply, hence the new 'space'.Thank you for responding to my request about editing my article! I will look through it and tell you what I think ought to be removed. If I would like new info added, should I send it to you? How do we proceed?
Thanks,
Bob Drake — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.249.137.116 (talk) 05:09, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi Bob, to reply to a message just click on the message header's "edit" button on the right and type at the bottom. You can indent your reply with colons (":"). Regarding sending me info, using email would probably be easier – then you'd be able to include attachments. If I send you an email, you'll pick up my email address. Can I use the contact email address you give at http://www.bdrak.com/? —Bruce1ee 07:22, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bruce, yes you can use the email at my webpage you mentioned above. Thanks SO much for changing the photos, if that was you! I'd also like to remove this dead link, which goes to an old page at some strange archive site, which they have archived without my permission, and never reply to my requests to remove it: https://archive.is/20080115070923/http://cabinetofcuriosities.bdrak.com/ It was also a pretty insignificant episode in my carreer, a single tour with a handful of gigs, a one-time band, playing for empty rooms mostly, and the page was certainly never meant to be archived forever.

The other parts need serious updating, but it's all a bit overwhelming and I don't know where to begin. Things like: "Drake recorded six solo albums between 1994 and 2005." and: "Drake released his first solo album, What Day is It? in 1994. It was a limited edition (1,000 copies) self released record that Drake pressed himself.[2] He later made five more solo albums," It makes it sound as if I stopped after the first six albums, but I've carried on just as regularly since then, perhaps even moreso.

And one of the worst things anyone has ever said about my music is this: "Deliverance in the hands of Hitchcock".[5]" That's so horrible! Unfortunately I know why the writer said it, because they don't know any banjo music except that bit from the film Deliverance, but the writer's own musical ignorance shouldn't cast that pall over an artists' work, if you see what I mean :) I feel that description, comparing my music to a brutal, violent, unpleasant film, and a director famous for grisly murder scenes etc, gives people a completely wrong impression of my music and lyrics which are much more friendly. I did those two short horror-comic albums, The Skull Mailbox and Other Horrors (2001) and The Shunned Country (2005), but there's not a murder to be found anywhere, no Deliverance-style brutal rapes, and any strange event is always due to a supernatural cause, never the sort of things suggested by the "Deliverance/Hitchcock" comparison.

Then there is no mention of one of the most important parts of my recent career, the solo tours, which I started doing in 2015 and do a couple of times every year since.

Anyhow...I know it's a lot of stuff! Those are just a few things that bother me and make the article seem so musty and more like an epitaph, haha. Maybe best if you email and I'll try to get some more modern info together for you. Thanks! Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.250.90.159 (talk) 06:13, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bob, I've sent you an email so you'll be able to send me info that you would like added to the article. Ideally the info should be published, for example in newspapers, magazines, books, websites, etc, to satisfy Wikipedia's verifiability requirement.
Regarding the photos, I didn't change them, it was done by another user here. I must, however, point out that the lead picture has been flagged as "missing evidence of permission", and unless that is fixed, it will probably be deleted by an admin.
I've removed that archive.is link, which doesn't appear to be working. About the "Deliverance" quote, that was made by Dominique Leone at Pitchfork, and is his take on one of your albums. You can read his article here. Was the quote taken out-of-context? —Bruce1ee 12:07, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

main page talk page reversion

Hi there,

When you reverted this edit, the summary says "Not related to the Main Page; read the note at the top of this page (TW)" - that implies that it was a Twinkle powered revert. Where's the option in Twinkle to do this? I may be missing something obvious, but I haven't seen it anywhere? Chaheel Riens (talk) 11:38, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I clicked the Twinkle "[rollback]" link at the top, between "[rollback (AGF)]" and "[rollback (VANDAL)]". The edit summary "Not related to the Main Page ..." is a message I typed in the "optional comment" box that pops up, not a Twinkle-generated message. I hope that helps. —Bruce1ee 11:49, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

bob drake page

Hi, Bruce,

Is it possible to make some changes at the Bob Drake's page on Wiki? He told me once that he'd like to change the photos. He sent me the new ones and I put them on the page, but a few days later the change was reverted by the page administrator I guess. Could you please help to do this?

Hi, what changes would you like to make? I can help you with them, but you can also make them yourself. I can help you with changing the photos on the article, but new photos need to be upload first, and permission to use them on Wikipedia needs to be granted by the photographer. —Bruce1ee 08:10, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:United States electronic musical group stubs

A tag has been placed on Category:United States electronic musical group stubs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. EBSCO

Whilst I do have institutional access, I am not very comfortable with their interface. For a part. book, WorldCat says that Ebsco has it but clicking that link gives a null result. Any ideas? WBGconverse 09:34, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

When I click on the EBSCO link on the WorldCat page, I get an EBSCO sign in screen, but none of my login credentials work. Using my institutional access I searched for "Sakhiyani : lesbian desire in ancient and modern India", but all I found were a couple of reviews of the book. What are you looking for, the book, or reviews of the book? —Bruce1ee 12:19, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
I was looking for a part. chapter (which I eventually got from a library) but was more curious about the intricacies of these EBSCO stuff. FWIW, I did manage to log in via TWl credentials wher upon it shew no results. Same through my institutional access.
The same stuff happened over a book that's supposedly in Proquest, as to accessing a chapter for Vivekananda Kendra. Clicking that link (from my institution) does not capture any institutional login despite being already subscribed to Ebook Central. Manually searching over the latter does not give any hit .....
