For comments about actual editing that I've done in en, leave it here, otherwise please talk to me on my Chinese Wiki Talk Page for a more prompt response. Either English or Chinese are fine, I'm fluent in both. Be sure to leave a link to where you actually want me to respond to if you don't have a Chinese wiki login. Oh yeah, and sign your comments. This is my talk page. I will remove and delete if your comment is unsigned.

If you are here to talk about my interwiki bot on the English wiki, User:Vina-iwbot, just leave a message in English on my Chinese Wiki Talk Page. Again, please make sure you leave a link to where you would like me to respond to unless you'll watch my Chinese talk page for responses.

Re-listing forgotten VfD's

edit

(Copied from my talk page)

I think you're right to re-list them, Vina. In fact, I think you're doing a major good deed for the project by doing so, and it's great to see anyone interested in doing things right when the VfD page itself is under such histrionic attack. I think the only possible change is to indicate in the header that it is an old listing on which no consensus was reached. We have a couple on the list right now that are going to end up that way. I think there is a CMS Planner or something on the list right now upon which no one has voted. At the end of 5 days, if it has only one or two votes the cleaning Admin will not really know what to do. Thank you for the good work. Geogre 14:01, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

edit

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Message about your bot

edit

I realize that you requested that I leave any messages about your bot on your Chinese talk page. However, I am having difficulty in signing in on your Chinese talk page. I tried to create an account in the Chinese wiki, but I don't know whether I succeeded, because I don't know Chinese.

Your bot is occasionally forgetting to sign in, and so is sometimes making Interwiki links that say that they are from User:71.241.248.89. See the history of edits to Pope Pius XII. Please take a look. Robert McClenon 16:52, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I have a question concerning English to Chinese translation. The Islam in China article mentions a lot more in English article than in the Chinese article. I was thinking about how to ask Chinese Wikipedia if they can translate the English information into the Chinese articles, maybe like with a tag or something asking for a translation, but I could not get very far. lol. Deeply appreciate if you can help someway. Thank You. Editingman (talk) 15:27, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Translation/interpretation help

edit

Hi, I notice that you listed yourself on the chinese wikiproject as a translator. I'm working on the article Chinese Dragon about the hockey team china has. I've started rewriting it, but I was wondering if you could help me out with a citation. Through the franchise history, Chinese dragon was at one time, Harbin. They were supposedly founded in 1954, and a bio states that they had the most championship wins. [1], but fails to provide a number. Qiqihar's bio states that they won 28 championships as part of the China league. I wonder if you could do a quick search and see if you could find a reliable source that might list how many championships Harbin has won. If you happen to have a little extra free time, let me know, I wouldn't mind someone with expertise helping me out with some chinese stuff on the article, like names, or picking up behind the scenes details from chinese newspapers, etc. thanks!--Crossmr (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Request for Chinese language assistance

edit

Could you help out with a quick translation verification? I've used a Chinese language book as a source here SubRip#Compatibility I just wanted to confirm that the text in the book really does say that VSFilter displays subtitles for video playback applications which do not directly show subtitles themselves, and it supports Subrip (.SRT) subtitle files. The deep link to the Google Books page is included in the citation. (I see you're pretty busy, so if you don't have time, it would be great if you could point me to the appropriate venue.) Thanks! --Lexein (talk) 06:46, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Added template for SuggestBot

edit

Hi,

Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.

We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.

We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 19:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:51, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
