Re. notability of record labels

Hi Sionk!

Thanks for commenting on my question on the music notability talk page. I posted a reply there - would be great, if you've time, to get your thoughts. All best, Loriski (talk) 16:51, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

  Thank you!
Thank you for replying. I've got a feeling I've started a discussion that was more about my own confusion than anyone else's (woops). But what you said about 'more important doesn't mean notable' really helped to clear things up for me at least. Knowing that I can use releases on a 'more important' indie label as one way of figuring out the notability of a band, without using 'a roster of notable bands' as a sufficient criterion for notability of a music label is a big help. I've previously dodged articles on record labels for this reason on AFC (because I didn't feel confident I understood the policy). So - thank you :) Loriski (talk) 18:54, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

First article

Hi Sionk, thank you so much for conveying the great news to me that I've managed to publish my first article. I look forward to seeing it edited to attain an A-Class rating! My very best regards and appreciation. CorneliusWilliam (talk) 08:10, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your message, but I think it was you and the local historian(?) who did the hard work! I'm sure your article will be a useful contribution to the history of County Clare. You may have noticed I named the article simply Ballyhannon Castle (but I see you've already had a conversation about this). If the castle has an alternative name, you can always request a 'redirect' page be created (you can do this via Wikipedia:Article_wizard/Redirect). You may have noticed I removed the paragraph about the current use of the castle, from the lede section - it read too much like an advertising opportunity. The credit to the local historian, at the end of the article, isn't really appropriate for Wikipedia either. All the best! Sionk (talk) 10:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed these changes to what I had submitted, and thanks for clarifying why. The historian did wonder why credit for his work in collating this history was omitted. When you say that such credit 'isn't appropriate for Wikipedia', is that the absolute position, or can it be added in some circumstances, or perhaps in a better form of wording? I suppose the bottom-line question is whether any reference to the historian can be made, and if so, in what format?

Many thanks Sionk. CorneliusWilliam (talk) 10:37, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Landegg copyrights issue

Hi Sionk,

Thanks for your advice.

I have contacted the editor of One Country seeking permission to use extensive quotations from their article. I modeled my letter on those given in guidance from Wikipedia and I also sent them a copy of Wikipedia's model "permission".

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/iDonate.

Hi, thank you for your feedback on the iDonate article. I am learning more each time I edit, about what is required to meet the standards. I thought the notability and references were adequate, but it looks like I need to do more. My understanding of Notability for an Nonprofit Organisation was 'National' coverage and a number of 'Independent References. I have this, but I obviously need to word it better.

Thank you for your advise. Poshpaddy (talk) 17:32, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sionk, Thanks for reviewing - I'm still very unclear of what edits need to be make to adequately evidence the site's notability.

Can you give me specific direction on how I can improve this post?

Sionk - You're awesome. Thank you so much for giving me useful feedback - still new at the Wikipedia game but I've made some major edits and tried to clean up the entry based on our suggestions. I think it's in a much better place now.

Wales new articles

It's not that quiet. Most people can't be bothered to add to the project page. In the time during those last two posts I've created about 40 articles, Monmouthpedia also create multiple articles, nearing a hundred I judge. We just don't brag about it. FruitMonkey (talk) 23:09, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

Okay, maybe because I don't create anywhere near as many new articles at the moment, I need to 'brag' as much as possible ;o) Sionk (talk) 00:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Misha Bryan page deletion

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is "Misha Bryan (which is now deleted at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Misha_Bryan&action=edit&redlink=1)". Thank you. newzealander 21:14, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

When the article was last deleted there was also a Deletion Review (closed yesterday) which endorsed the decision. Sionk (talk) 22:04, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for this link Sionk. But if I go to Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles the first reason for notability is "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself." Although I don't have the deleted page now to reference, if I go to List of The X Factor finalists (UK series 8) there are multiple references that are reliable sources. Newspapers in London like the Metro and Daily Mail, the website digitalspy.com, yahoo.com, musiceyz.co.uk (a credible review of her mixtape, which would mean she is noteworthy outside of X Factor). Now, on that same page there are a bunch of references to Misha B's twitter announcements, which would be uncredible. And, if there were personal trivia items that would not be considered encyclopedic on the deleted page and other things to be cleaned up and deleted off the page, then that's a whole other matter. But, if I go simply off of Wikipedia's own guidelines for musician notability, there appears to be enough there to warrant her own page. Also, if you compare Misha Bryan to many of the finalists on this last season of American Idol, then she qualifies just as much as they do for her own page. Example: Heejun_Han ------ NewzealanderA (talk) 29 June 2012 (UTC)
X Factor (and many other reality TV series) have similar articles to List of The X Factor finalists (UK series 8). American Idol doesn't - it has been decided (for reasons unknown to me) that they will be different. The biographical information for the X-factor finalists are contained in the 'List of X Factor finalists...' article, therefore doesn't need to be repeated separately. Like you say, their participation in a TV programme is notable information so it is included on Wikipedia.
It seems a fair way of doing things to me. Many of these young contestants are quickly forgotten once they're released into the big, bad music world. Sionk (talk) 23:46, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Love Matters (media)

Hi Sionk,

A month ago you reviewed (and refused) an article I created (Love Matters media). This article has been refused three times already and I just don't understand why.

This was your review:

Comment: The article in The Hindu is very good. However, the remainder of the references are not about Love Matters, apart from Indiainfonline which seems to be a financial organisation parroting a press release (rather a reliable news website). Article needs multiple reliable coverage about Love Matters. Sionk (talk) 02:40, 30 May 2012 (UTC).

The reviewer left the following comment about this submission: This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule. Please improve the submission's referencing, so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia.

A few points: - There are more news articles about Love Matters, but I assumed that if I used more than one as a source (if they basically talk about the same thing) that would be spam. - I give some information regarding context in India, and that is why I added some extra links to back it up. In the academia world, this is how it works. - Love Matters has a quite strong facebook community. How can I account for that? - This is a unique website in India, the only one that talks openly about sex, love, homossexuality. I think this is notable and unique enough. But that is my opinion ... how can put this into "wiki" words? - Wikipedia in other languages is far more permissive than in English, although I have found some English articles that need citations. - What can I do more to have this article published?

Thanks

Tariniti (talk) 12:28, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

I responded on my Talk page, redirecting Tariniti to the notability guideline for media. I am not that familiar with the requirements for media though. User:King4057 13:25, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the answer. I've been trying to follow the notability guidelines. How can you account for web traffic? E.g. The facebook community has 30 000 followers, the webpage has million of clicks. There is no mention of this on the web guidelines.

Thanks.

Re rejection of the submitted Mapa Scotland article

Hello. I've read your comment rejecting the above article. I appreciate the point you make regarding reliance on one main source for the basic facts about the map, but that is in a sense a false impression. Most of the facts regarding its history can be found on one website and nowhere else, because its compiler has created an original archive of material on the map through his own endeavours. It has not featured in other publications as you suggest. I came across it quite by chance about a year ago and tried to find out more about it. After discovering the website, which contains most of the known facts on the map, I decided that it deserved a Wikipedia entry. In the process of writing the article, I contacted the author of the website several times to check and double-check the facts for accuracy. I added that website as an external link. I have been following the progress of the map over the past year. It is about to be given a heritage listing and has recently been the subject of newspaper reports and television coverage. If, as the restoration group claims, it is the largest of its kind in the world, that, subject to verification, would surely make it sufficiently deserving of a page on Wikipedia. Knowledge of this map will increase over time as it becomes known to a wider public, but I don't envisage any books being written about it. If they are, they'll be very thin, having to rely on the few known facts, namely those on which I have based the article. I'd therefore like to appeal against your decision on the grounds that this is too important a subject for Wikipedia to ignore and a special case, if you like, where web sources are available but printed sources not. I'd appreciate hearing the opinions of other administrators as to whether rejection is preferred to acceptance. Kim Traynor (talk) 01:40, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your prompt response to the above. Much appreciated. In addition to the Border Telegraph, I've tracked down a Glasgow Herald Report and another in a local newspaper for the Borders. I think they are more about the state of the structure and its restoration than its historical background, but I'll see if I can incorporate them as references. Kim Traynor (talk) 10:00, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Hello again. I've managed to incorporate references to several newspaper articles and one BBC news report on the map which at least show that it is not a figment of the imagination. All deal with its intended restoration rather than the historical background. That is mentioned, of course, but I don't think these articles can be given as the provenance for the known facts ahead of the online account by one of the team involved in building it. I've put in two reference links in the first two paragraphs to another website: one page giving basic facts and a history of the map, the other giving information on the castle and mentioning the map. I have also found what look like Polish websites discussing it, but I think including them may be going over the top. Do you think it would be worthwhile trying to resubmit the article now? You never know, the historical content might elicit further verification if relatives of the Polish veterans who were stationed at the castle or of the students who built it see the article and, perhaps less likely, contribute to it. I'd appreciate your opinion. Kim Traynor (talk) 11:19, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your latest assistance in processing the article. As you can see I've delved deeper (with gratefully received help from a fellow Wikipedian) to find more referencing material on the map. I'm glad that more people can learn about this unusual Polish tribute to Scotland. And re your comment on categorisation, you're dead right that it isn't easy to categorise. That's one of the things that fascinates me about it. It really is unique. Kim Traynor (talk) 14:11, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Replying to your latest comment regarding the claim that the map is the biggest terrain model in the world. That claim appears in a couple of the news articles but I don't think it has been verified yet. The Chinese are said to have a top secret terrain model of Tibet, but of course that is not publicised anywhere. I have been trying to find out via the Guinness Book of Records online, but they don't seem to have a category (online at least) for 'biggest map/terrain model'. It would certainly be a thrill to see the article appear under "Did you know?". It is a rather surprising artefact to find in any landscape. I'll try searching further for any other information I can come up with on this aspect. Kim Traynor (talk) 14:42, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sionk, wonder if you could assist. Another user has started making huge edits on my user page for the Misha B. pending article. User:NewzealanderA/Misha_B I have undone them, and the user re-does them and continues adding more info. I have asked the user to stop on his/her talk page, with no response. The info is full of unverified material, Facebook, and Twitter citations. And much of it is already covered at the X Factor Season 8 page, which is why I had kept the X Factor material so brief to not have duplicate info and, instead, focus on the notability of a career outside of X Factor. Do you have any advice? -- NewzealanderA (talk) 19:33, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Observation

Edit summaries like this aren't really necessary, are they? You're a great contributor and do a lot of good work in bringing crappy articles up to scratch, you really don't need to resort to snarky jabs at others. Your point is better made by your article work. Remember we're all in this together! Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 16:51, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

To be honest, I stand by my comment. The book was very obviously notable after a quick search on Google. PROD'ing is hardly a constructive approach in this instance and I expect the new editor who created the article will be the one who feels 'snarked'. Anyway, I hope no hard feelings! Help needed - Citations.

Hi,

I am trying my hand at being a contributor for the first time, and I don't appear too good at it so far !! ( but I am determined ) as I have had my first 3 submissions returned.

I have to find citations for dates of birth of my subject, his children and his marriage.

Please could anybody advise please, how I start this process of finding out this information as, as a novice I have no idea where to start.

The only success I get are paid websites like ancestors.co.uk etc.

Where should I begin looking ?

Thank you very much

Hello: I found additional sources for the Oxford Park, Estonia article. Per your comment at the article's AfD discussion, I invite you to revisit the discussion. Edit

Hi,

I have spent 5 or 6 hours researching and updating the page on John GLEDDEN and have resubmitted it.

I have found loads and loads of newspaper, radio and TV records and added them to the site.

I really hope my work has managed to do justification to the person as I would hate to have messed it up and not got the only person in GB in the last 76 years to have taught a Wimbledon Men's Champion rejected 4 times from Wikipedia due to my incompetence !!!!

Let me know if I need to do anything further..

Stephen Mosher - Explanation on my First Article

Hi Sionk,

You stated in your posting on my first article "This is a tough one, I'm not sure exactly what Mosher is known for. I would say as a political activist. He has published one book of photography to raise money for Aids charities. The NYT article describes him as an events planner."

Stephen (my husband) Is primarily known in Theatre and Entertainment circles as a photographer. He has published the one coffee table book in 2003 (and that project donated money to AIDS related charities,) but continues to be in demand especially in his home of New York. Perhaps I have not cited enough examples?

His activism these days is focused on Marriage Equality and the film we made of our trip around the country getting married in every jurisdiction where same sex marriage is legal will premier at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (FLICKERS) next month on August 11.

His description by the times and an events planner is accurate in that is the work he must do a lot of these days in this economic climate... People just aren't spending cash for photos like they used to.

The upshot is Stephen is a well known photographer, and the paper example (from which I could derive more cites) are in storage. Things like his work appearing in People Magazine, Theatre World, The Sondheim Review etc...

The reason he asked me to set up a wikipage is he is now embarking on a new photo project and is inviting celebs to be a part of it and wanted some content/background that could be accessed by those who may not know him/who he is.

Does this help?

rejection

Hi,

I would like to understand the rejection of this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Aradhna_Krishna.

the Wiki rules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academics) ) says:

1. The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.

She is considered one of the 50 most productive marketing professors in the world (and this was written on a scientific paper on the Journal of Marketing, the most prestigious journal in Marketing)

her papers were mention by the most important newspapers in the world: in particular New York Times, November 7, 2010 Time, November 17, 2010 Science Daily, October 21, 2011 LA Times January 5, 2012 Toronto Star, July 12, 2011Huffington Post, July 12, 2011 Psychology Today (blog), July 11, 2011 Smart Money, May 23, 2011 Philanthropy Journal, April 11, 2011 Association of Fundraising Professionals, April 5, 2011 Companies & Causes, April 5, 2011 Minneapolis Star Tribune, April 4, 2011 Chronicle of Philanthropy, March 31, 2011 Huffington Post, March 6, 2011 Michigan Chronicle, 2011 My Health News Daily, November 19, 2010 Scent-id, December 15, 2009 Science Daily, December 14, 2009 New York Times, November 16, 2009 Thaindian News, July 21, 2009 UK Telegraph, July 22, 2009 Atlanta Journal Constitution, October 10, 2009 Boston Globe, October 4, 2009 Top News, September 18, 2008 Innovations Report, September 17, 2008 Saja Forum, September 15, 2008 New York Times, September 14, 2008 e!sciencenews, July 15, 2008 Live Science, September 10, 2008 US News & World Report, May 1, 2008 LA Times, March 24, 2008

2. The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level.

As I have written, she have received MANY by the most important professional associations in the field (e.g., American Marketing Association, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Retailing).

3. The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g. a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a Fellow of a major scholarly society for which that is a highly selective honor (e.g. the IEEE).

she is member of the most prestigious association in the field: American Marketing Association, Association for Consumer Research (etc). OK, this was not written but I found on her curriculum.

4. The person's academic work has made a significant impact in the area of higher education, affecting a substantial number of academic institutions.

she has contributed to create a new field (sensory marketing) organizing the first academic meeting in this sense. This was also recognize in the "STERNPhDalumni" journal, that is another independent source

5. The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or "Distinguished Professor" appointment at a major institution of higher education and research (or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon).

she has (She is the Dwight F. Benton Professor of Marketing at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan)

6. The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed academic post at a major academic institution or major academic society.

she has (see before)

7. The person has made substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity.

she has (see before)

8. The person is or has been the head or chief editor of a major well-established academic journal in their subject area.

she is the area editor of the most important journals of the field: Lead Area Editor for Research Reports, Journal of Consumer Psychology (2011-)  Associate Editor, Management Science (2008-)  Area Editor, International Journal for Research in Marketing (2007-2010)  Area Editor – Short articles, Journal of Consumer Psychology (2010-2011)

and she is in the Review Board of:  Editorial Review Board: Journal of Marketing Research (1995-)  Editorial Review Board: Marketing Letters (1995-)  Editorial Review Board: Marketing Science (2003-)  Editorial Review Board: Journal of Consumer Research (2003-2005; 2008-)  Editorial Review Board: Review of Marketing Science (2000-)

OK, this was not written, but it was on her CV

With all this clarification, could you please reconsider your decision? I can add the missing information.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alfa privativo (talkcontribs) 16:02, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Hi Sionk. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Yes, it was probably the wrong description. "Music download page" would probably be better. Either way, the 'Artistry' section on Misha B was written with so much WP:PUFF her publicity agent would have probably cringed :) Sionk (talk) 20:27, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Because of ongoing dispute about Bias I have requested a Dispute resolution discussion

F64 was released on 24th December...but it hardly warrants that 2011/12 heading for the whole section that the contributor keeps adding :) ...Zoebuggie☺whispers 12:41, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi

  The Articles for Creation barnstar
Thanks for the information on my user page regarding the AfC submission for the Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi article. I unintentionally didn't consider Wikipedia:Notability (high schools) and WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES in the process of reviewing the submission. Your helpful reminder was appreciated. Northamerica1000(talk) 11:39, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Wow, thanks! I was only 'doing my job' ;) We need to bear in mind the global bias of Wikipedia, as I'm sure you agree. A college in Pakistan is as valid as one in Pennsylvania. Sionk (talk) 11:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Bizare addition - Misha B

Your comment made me smile :) I thought the 'you can’t run away from comparisons' went well with her saying she is nothing like Missy Elliott, while 'Little lady with the big voice' kinda referred to her height 5ft 1 inch and vocal ability....Zoebuggie☺whispers 00:48, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Now you are saying that references are not powerful I think the news is the most powerful news website in Pakistan. If you can do anything good to my article then you can try. Your contribution will be highly appreciated. At least, you should remove the tags that you have put into my article. Regards, ARK (talk) 00:13, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

That is what tags are for, to indicate to you where the problems are. I see you have removed them, so assume you no longer require my help. Sionk (talk) 15:03, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/mageba

Hi! This is regarding the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/mageba Hi, although the word 'international' was cited with 'structurae' and 'international bridge conference' references, i have removed the word itself from the page. I dont understand why dont you want to approve the page.. it has more references than any other civil engineering firm's page, and all of the references are from leading civil engineering journals!! could you please specify how many citations do you need (like 100 or 200), as the review process takes weeks and i keep making changes everyday to make the information verifiable, but i really do not understand how do i provide a better reference source than from journals like international engineering conferences/ websites and associations!!

Declined article

Hi there, would you please be so kind to tell me what's wrong with my article?! I'm talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Max_Weber_Center . What kind of "reliable sources" does it need? Several university-pages and one press-release aren't enough for such a short article? Thanks! 194.95.117.68 (talk) 06:47, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for answering on "my" talk-page, Sionk! I agree, "institutes/colleges/departments of a university are normally mentioned on the article about the university, in this case University of Erfurt. In order to prove that the Max Weber Center is independently notable, you would need to show some evidence of news articles etc. about the Center." Well, the article about the University of Erfurt is a disgrace (no offense, but it has nearly no references, lots of mistakes, etc.) and I don't want to fix that, I want to write about the Max Weber Center (am I selfish?). Secondly I do quote from newspaper articles (seen my last edits?)! Cheers --194.95.117.68 (talk) 13:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I agree, it's not a great article at the moment, is it :) Sionk (talk) 18:37, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Ok, well, ok... I've worked a little on the "University of Erfurt"-article, especially the "Max Weber Center"-section. Wouldn't it be a good idea to redirect people to this section of the article from pages like "Max Weber Center", "Max-Weber-Kolleg", and "Max Weber Center for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies"? Do you know what I mean? Then my declined article "Max Weber Center" could be deleted. But it's nothing I can do (as an IP). Plus, ther's a German Wikipedia-article on the "Max Weber Center" ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max-Weber-Kolleg ), which could also be linked. Is all that a good idea? What else could I do? Thanks so much! -- 194.95.117.68 (talk) 10:11, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Buzzwords and Reading Like an Advertisement

Hi Sionk,

I notice in my recent submission of the Swallowfield PLC article that you mentioned there are buzzwords and business speak. As Swallowfield is a business, it is hard not to mention certain aspects without accidentally sounding promotional. Please can you point the promotional wording, as I cannot see where they are in my most recent submission. Any further suggestions on how to improve the article are welcome. I know about the sources side of things, and that is currently being worked on.

Many thanks in advance for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpencerGolding (talkcontribs) 09:41, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

See No Evil: Graffiti

Hi Soink , I see you are in the WikiProject Graffiti group, I love love street art, I have a couple Inke* original prints and brought a few bits from un-notable artist via PRSC (Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft) shop ( its a project that financed street art via Dutch auction of canvas art, though they are selling stokes croft china at the moment. I digress.

Anyway the was another See No Evil: Graffiti festival in Bristol last week, where a whole of Nelson street gets painted in the centre of the city gets painted with huge murals by local and international graffiti artists. Whizzed past on a bus today, so must go and look. It would make a very visual article. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/9486742/Graffitis-grandmasters-make-their-mark.html. This is the second festival, they painted over the first. I guess you cant copyright street art :) but alas I don't have a camera, but the may be suitable pics in the usual places. Should we, you, I start one under your guidance. (P.S. I realise that I have not been too well recently, it's me head its bonkers, and that affected my attitude and responses)

I am not sure what the Graffiti is like in Wales but Wikipedia needs an article about the street art in Bristol, specially PRSC & Stokes Croft (if its not too local). Inke* was one of the graffiti artists along with Banksy that got the whole Bristol Grafitti scene going, he deserves an article too....Zoebuggie☺whispers 20:42, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry my internet connection was on the blink/ was not connecting properly See No Evil (artwork) has an article of sorts and I could not find Inkie cos I was spelling his name wrong.... plus I see you have contributed too (embarrassed face here).

PRSC is here http://www.prsc.org.uk/map.htm, the co-ordinate various murals from their depot. ...Zoebuggie☺whispers 21:21, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Glad you found them! Yes, there's also an article about People's Republic of Stokes Croft. Sionk (talk) 14:13, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
I have brought a few cheaper pieces from the Dutch auction at PRSC and the Upfest Gallery Shop http://www.upfest.co.uk/ which I think had more to do with See No Evil festivals than weopons of choice gallery, though I dont know for sure....Zoebuggie☺whispers 16:22, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Grattons

Disagree.

There are individuals that have defined and shaped social media and should be part of this category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 07:23, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Again, there's that blanket statement, which I have grown to love with Wikipedia: a very dictatorial and black and white stance to the wider community. I would suggest a section within the Social media article to include people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 07:32, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker comment) Unfortunately, it was not a reliable source for that particular information, as it was essentially a blurb written by the publisher (or possibly by the author's agent) to promote a particular book. --bonadea contributions talk 08:27, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

You're obviously bored and dysfunctional

Again, you seem to have this relentlessness gripe. Grow up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 10:19, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

No abuse? Let me remind you reference to 'hardly' on Celebrity status on Gratton's page. Pot-kettle-black. There's that elitism thing going on again within the Wikipedia community.

I call it, "Hypocritical"... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 10:45, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Your reference to what abuse is...

It's incredibly derogatory and solely based on your unqualified opinion. It's tantamount to abuse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 11:02, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
And your qualifications are... ?? As I've said on your Talk page, Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and every other editor is entitled to contribute, based on the fundamentals of Wikipedia. You do not have a right to claim ownership of articles you have written. Sionk (talk) 11:12, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Ah.. I've personally met them, face-to-face - I'm guessing more qualified than you, right? And, I don't recollect claiming ownership.. please ensure your ducks are in a neat row. I follow Sarah's work in particular and this has been my only collaboration here on Wikipedia... it's just not worth the hassle to provide any further contributions since joining as far back as 2006! It's community members like you that deem this process a chore and ultimately "not worth it." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Opn800 (talkcontribs) 11:24, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Sionk, please see Talk:Sarah-Jayne Gratton#Page protection - I spotted this exchange on my watchlist (although I forget why this talkpage is on my watchlist) and thought I should step in. Incidentally, my warning about edit war blocks being handed out in future applies generally - there is no general "but I'm right" exception, but I'm sure you know that. In future, if you are having problems with a content dispute on an article, feel free to request page protection rather than let yourself be sucked into a revert war... Best wishes, BencherliteTalk 12:18, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

I need you're advice

Hi Sionk!

My name is Lizzy Green, and I only have about a month experience in editing, so as you can imagine my edits are often ignored or incorrect. You see, I'm a big fan of The X Factor, and the new season has recently begun, so I've looked back at pervious finalists to see where they are now. I've noticed that some of them have released singles or plan to, finalists such as Lloyd Daniels, Rachel Adedeji, Katie Waissel and Geneva Lane. I thought about and I have considered creating articles for Adedeji and Lane because they're both working on albums and have released a single, do you think I should? Please reply soon, as I've already gathered information to start creating.Lizzy GreenTalk 21:52, 24 August 2012

Recent Teahouse Edit

Hi Sionk,

Might I respectfully suggest that you change your wording in this recent Teahouse edit? Stating "the 'digging around' is original research" might make some new editors think that researching reliable sources is discouraged as original research. Of course, "digging around" for reliable sources is encouraged. I doubt very much you meant to imply otherwise, but changing your wording might help clarify your meaning. Many thanks, Ebikeguy (talk) 17:11, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

True, they said "poking around" and "genealogical digging". I thought I was quoting the questioner's own words. I've amended my reply. Thanks! Sionk (talk) 17:19, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Nicely done! Ebikeguy (talk) 17:25, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

End of the story ?

Thanks for reviewing my article. Okay, before I give up on my article “Elena Beyzarov”, let me ask you a question. Is the lack of inline citations the ultimate reason for final decline based of notability ? As Sarah Stierch commented , inline citations are ideal … Is there any “but” , are they absolutely mandatory in case of my article ? My subject is a medical and general health writer , she created more than hundred (maybe hundreds) of feature and news article published in professional media . She is a co-author of a book translated in few foreign languages. The writers don’t write much about writers. For an entertainer, singer, actor and people in art , architecture etc. it is much easier to get noted, it comes with their field of occupation. For other professions, like my subject’s , the real notability ( in my humble opinion of course) is their name in public media, the volume and range of publications. I might be wrong, but still, should your ‘notability “ criteria be more flexible and more considerate of the nature of subject’s activity ? So, the question again. My subject does not have inline citations, - is this the end of the story ? Thank you (English is not my native language). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mchport (talkcontribs) 20:50, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I thought about it before writing it. Based on his own problematic talk page interactions with others, this misleading / false statement [2] and these puerile edits [3], [4] I think it's time for a bit of honesty with a non-constructive editor, not farting about. If someone warned EVERYBODY (including me) in that dispute it might help to sort out a few of the immature hotheads. Leaky Caldron 15:57, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
