Speedy deletion nomination of Emedicalpoint - Doctors, Health & Medical Web Portal edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Emedicalpoint - Doctors, Health & Medical Web Portal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Anthem of joy (talk) 11:40, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Emedicalpoint - Doctors, Health & Medical Web Portal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). The second post was deleted because it was not an article but a request for assistance, more or less like User:Rehmanmd/Emedicalpoint - Doctors, Health & Medical Web Portal which is a good place to develop a draft although one finished it should likely be named Emedicalpoint. Meanwhile there is no need to keep editors on this board here updated. Rather check out the links on your page, maybe do some small edits elsewhere and feel your way around. There is no deadline.--Tikiwont (talk) 19:53, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
There is good advice at WP:Your first article and the WP:FAQ/Organizations. It will save you time in the end to read them both carefully. Important things to understand are:
  • If the organization is to have an article, you need to show Notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."
  • Your first version was copied from here. You must not copy information into Wikipedia unless a formal copyright release has been made, as described at WP:DCM.
  • But that would be a waste of time, because that material is far too promotional, and is obviously written for EMedical point: "Our vision is clear... We are constantly trying... " and uses unsupported "peacock terms" like "user friendly, high quality and cost effective... " Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a notice-board, and is not for promotion of any kind; anything that reads like an advertisement will be speedily deleted, as your first version was. An encyclopedia article is a quite different thing from an organisation's own website, or an advertisement: it requires a WP:Neutral point of view, and should not be written as by the organisation about itself, but as from outside, giving a neutral description of what it does, plain facts supported by references. Wikipedia's WP:Verifiability policy requires that "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source".

Emedicalpoint edit

If Emedicalpoint is to have an article, you have two main obstacles to overcome:

  • Notability. This is Wikipedia's term for the way it decides what subjects are suitable for articles, and it is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people unconnected with the subject thought it important and significant enough to write substantial comment about? If not, it cannot have an article.
Your article had a list of references, but the only one that mentioned Emedicalpoint was its own website.
  • Promotion. Your article was written in a promotional tone, using the first person, "Our vision is clear... we will try to make a bridge... You can participate with us... We are constantly trying... We are committed to improve the portal... " It was a message from the organisation to promote itself to potential users. An encyclopedia article is quite different: it should be a neutral description, written as if from outside, no opinions, just plain facts backed up by reliable sources.

The article title has been salted - protected from creation - because you posted it several times. What you should do is:

  • Think hard about whether you can demonstrate notability, because if not you will be wasting your time
  • If you want to go ahead, read WP:Your first article carefully
  • Make a draft article in your user space - start by going to Help:Userspace draft. Be very careful that it does not sound as if it is written by Emedicalpoint or is trying to promote it.
  • Approach user Jimfbleak (talk), the admin who protected the title, for permission to post it.
