Liga Bet and Gimel

Hey, I was looking through the history of the Israeli football teams articles and saw that you have made many contribs. I was wondering if you had any info on what season(s) Maccabi Bi'ina participated in Liga Bet? --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

RFA Thanks

  Dear Number 57,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence and perceptiveness.

Re Rodrigo Díaz (footballer)

Nah I don't get it? You must definitely be a football fan to remove that speedy. The clubs notable but the players not. This is going to be taken further. Don't worry you will get to have your say in the discussions. Sting_au Talk 12:14, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I read WP:BIO parts of it look to me like he shouldn't have an article about him. For example, "(who meet the general criteria of secondary sources published about them)" and Footbal-lineups.com is not a reliable secondary source. The clubs notable but he's not so remarkable. At least nothings been done to the article to SHOW that he is i.e. by properly referencing the guy. Inline citations would look good now wouldn't they. Or is it just because he's a footballer? To say my nom was one of the worst you've seen shows a bit of bias I reckon? I am taking that as an insult to my integrity. I'm definitely no expert here on Wikipedia, but to see so many articles on Footballers, and average ones at that too! Seems rather odd to me? Fair enough if an athlete plays for their country or in a world cup or even Olympic games or breaks a world record. Now that I can understand! I see there's still a few red links on that Independiente players list. So more not so remarkable footballer articles coming up soon I suppose? Sting_au Talk 12:40, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Now that (supplying references) actually makes sense. That's what the article needs. Without the references he doesn't survive WP:BIO and I did read it. But the article writer is the expert in that area. Not me. He can provide the references. I'll give him till tomorrow. If the references are not supplied it goes to WP:AfD. Sting_au Talk 13:30, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
If it's so easy why doesn't the article creator google up the reference and add it? I just read your reference to WP:POINT I thought I did make my point? I'm sorry but you seem to be taking this personally? Perhaps we should both step back and let an independent Admin take a look at this please? Sting_au Talk 13:40, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Cheers

Cheers for your support of the Rodrigo Díaz article, I can't believe that anyone would make such a concerted effort to bin it, there are dozens of footballers on wikipedia with no appearances at all and this guy has nearly 200 in top flight football in two of the best leagues outside Europe. As for the "dreaded threat" of more Independiente players, I doubt it, I made articles for all the squad players to feature in at least half of their games this season, the others would survive AfD under current notability criteria, but they aren't key players, so I'll not be creating articles for them until next season at least, and then only if they play a bigger part in the first team. I may eventually go back over the Independiente players adding extra sources, but I'm a bit busy creating pages for all of the regular first teamers in the other Argentine Primera squads and the dreaded transfer window is looming ominously. Kind regards as always. King of the NorthEast 16:25, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Estonian league players

As a reply to your comment. I think attendance numbers have more to do with the popularity of sport in the country and hardly reflect the quality of the game. And although I agree that players from not fully professional leagues should not have an article on the english wikipedia (unless they've earned their notability by playing for their nt or through some other way), I don't think drawing parallels with the Sammarenese premier league, or whatever it's called over there, or the 9th level of the English football league is a good comparison. Look at Levadia for example, they knocked out Finnish Haka and Dutch Twente and went on to play two very good games against Newcastle in the first round of the UEFA Cup last year. This year they came very close to securing a tie with Glasgow Rangers for a place in the Champions League, but, unfortunately, were knocked out on away goals. I'd compare the top Estonian sides with Finnish clubs, although the average level of Veikkausliiga is, of course, higher since it's a fully-pro league and there's no gap between pro and amateur clubs there. So what I'm trying to say, is that having articles about some of the players from the Estonian League is not bad, as long as they are notable, however, that's not the case with the players I nominated. What is an acceptable article about a business

We have gone through considerable lengths to create a Wikipedia entry that matches the quality and informative nature the many other businesses that are listed at Wikipedia. On the Website Builder page, there are three of our competitors, the article that was submitted was not much different then those that were accepted. Now after three attempts, it still gets deleted. There was no outbound link to iBuilt.net and the article was not written by me or a friend. The two most recent entries are not blatant advertising, they are a historical overview of iBuilt.net.

Please review http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=IBuilt.net_Website_Builder&action=edit

and perhaps offer some advice or help get the article undeleted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Israeli political parties

Hi,

First of all I'd like to compliment you on your monumental work on the Israeli political parties articles, as you may have noticed It has assisted me in the creation some of the parallel articles on the Hebrew Wikipedia. I'd like to ask you about a particular sentence that I've failed to understand from the article Hebrew Communists, your help would be much appreciated. you wrote: "the party returned to life during the first Knesset when several of Maki's leaders were purged soon after the elections in 1949. Amongst the purged was Knesset member Eliezer Preminger." what kind of purge exactly were you referring to?

Also, do you have some kind of online source that lists the parties that failed to cross the electoral threshold (of the various elections), and a source that specify which party was a member of which coalition? that information is very difficult to come by. South Side Mission deletion

I would like to have the deletion of South Side Mission reversed, please.

South Side Mission is the oldest rescue ministry on the city of Peoria, IL, and serves over 10,000 people at or below the poverty line in our community each year. We are also the frequent topic of research papers written by students of private and public institutions, from jr. high students to Bradley University, to SIU (Edwardsville).

I do appreciate that though it was founded the same year as Caterpillar, Inc., the world impact is somewhat less impressive. But, I must point out that the fabric of the community of Peoria would look very different with no one to care for the less fortunate.

Many of the most notable companies and people of Peoria support or received support from South Side Mission, including Maui Jim, Caterpillar, Inc., Shaun Livingston, and Mayor Murray Baker.

I posted this article for the benefit of those looking for the complete picture of the history of our community, instead of only the tourist information, and I believe it deserves consideration.

Navbox formatting

Hi, I've noticed that you formatted some of the Israel-related navigation boxes. Perhaps you could help me create some boxes like that, as I don't have infinite time to do it unfortunately. Right now I'm thinking about the Israeli ambassadors to the US/UN, also commanders of the Israeli Air Force, as well as other high-ranking posts which don't have navigation templates yet (preferrably only those for whom most articles are created and not red links). Thanks!

unilateral constested move

What gives you the right to unilaterally move FC Red Star Belgrade that has undergone numerous discussions?

The previous version was the consensus version. // laughing man 22:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

What are you talking about there was no consensus for FC Red Star Belgrade? The article remained as "FC Red Star Belgrade" for 3 months with no objections from the Wikipedians editing the article. You come 3 months later and decide you don't like the name and move it with no discussion. // laughing man 22:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Your not getting the point. The article was moved to FC Red Star Belgrade and your refering to a 3 month old discussion of the article name. Your simply unilaterally moving the article to the name that you want. (there was NO recent discussion about a move on the talk page) and basically destabilizing the article, which you never were a regular editor of. Do you think that's the proper way to behave? // laughing man 22:54, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

re: Template:Afghan elections

Actually it is not accepted (many non Pashtuns (non ethnic Afghans)reject this term). Also, the recent constitution was forged by a small group of people. There is alot of controversy of this term, thus it is better to be neutral. Dupree3 (talk) 09:11, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

For more a little background information on this controversy... see Demography of Afghanistan. Dupree3 (talk) 09:13, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Agreed by who? A few users who really don't know much on this subject. All scholarly sources say that Afghan=Pashtun. Since there had to be a discussion in the first place, clearly the term is controversial and we should not take sides and be neutral. As for that edit, I made that edit because that user was using sockpuppets, check his account, it has been confirmed. Dupree3 (talk) 09:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes they do, here's a few:

Encyclopaedia Iranica: "“Afg@a@n” is the term by which the Persian-speakers of Afghanistan (and the non-PaÞáto@-speaking ethnic groups generally) designate the PaÞátu@n. The equation Afghans = PaÞátu@n has been propagated all the more, both in and beyond Afghanistan, because the PaÞátu@n tribal confederation is by far the most important in the country, numerically and politically. The Afghans or PaÞátu@n are characterized by: (1) Their language, PaÞáto@, the most important Iranian language of the east, with a remarkably rich literature. (2) Their clan structure, which clearly distinguishes them from the Tajik of Afghanistan who generally have none at all (see PaÞátu@n). (3) Their social code, paÞátu@nwal^ (see PaÞátu@n) or simply paÞáto@, that governs relations among some PaÞátu@n, as a code of honor, and defines the essential principles of the individual ethic and the national virtues. (4) Certain characteristics, both social and cultural, extinct or living, (e.g., we@Þ, the periodic redistribution of lands; nomadism, etc.). The term “Afg@a@n” has probably designated the PaÞátu@n since ancient times. Under the form Avaga@náa, this ethnic group is first mentioned by the Indian astronomer Vara@ha Mihira in the beginning of the 6th century A.D. in his Bráhat-samáhita@."

British Library: "afghans (1) An ethnic group: the Pushtun tribes inhabiting the area roughly lying between the Hindu Kush in the North and the Indus in the South; Pathans. Comes to mean Pathans residing in Afghanistan. Divided into two main groups, the Abdalis (qv) and the Ghilzais (qv). The predominant ethnic group in Afghanistan."

Dupree3 (talk) 09:22, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

I meant sources on the subject. A dictionary is just a dictionary, it obviously won't give this type of information.

Also, several dictionaries use other terms such as Afghanistani. Why isn't that used instead since Afghan clearly has too much ambiguity?

Afghanistani

adjective 1. of or relating to or characteristic of Afghanistan or its people

noun 1. a native or inhabitant of Afghanistan

WordNet® 3.0, © 2006 by Princeton University.

Dupree3 (talk) 09:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Afghan, as a misnomer, might be more common but it is not as correct. Regardless, I'm not changing it back to Afghanistani. I have taken the neutral stance and given it a neutral name. Not only that, it just sounds better and is more consistent with other election articles (for example: Elections in Iraq). Dupree3 (talk) 10:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok I'll revert that edit until that user is proven as a sockpuppet. Actually, looking at other articles, such as Elections in Iraq, etc... Elections in -instertcountry- seems to be the right way. Dupree3 (talk) 10:31, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm sure that was a sockpuppet, but ok I'll leave the talk page alone also. I'll do a checkuser soon though. Dupree3 (talk) 10:33, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of relevant articles concerning the wikiproject on Irish football!!

Do you not realise that you have deleted articles that are regarded as important to the wikiproject on Irish Football? The project maintains that there should be articles created on all notable competitions, clubs, players etc. in Ireland. These articles are regarded as extremely important within the project and being a long serving contributor to the project, I would not litter the Irish football scene with rubbish articles. I'd like to request that these articles, Conor Mullan and Maydown F.C. be recreated with immediate effect. Ryannus (talk) 20:12, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Also, it seems you did not assume good faith by deleting the articles without even a review! Ryannus (talk) 20:25, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply.

I understand what you're saying, but, my argument is that both articles, by their very definition are notable and are considered important to the WikiProject for Irish football. There are a large number of 'non notable' non-league amateur English teams in Wikipedia, why are Irish ones considered to not meet the requirements, if English ones do. However, the point is, the articles are within the scope of the Wikiproject for Irish Football and deserve at least a deletion review. Thank you. Ryannus (talk) 21:36, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

We could get into a huge debate about the notability of a club being relevant to the standard of the football in certain countries. You said that they shouldn't have articles, having not played in fully professional leagues? I would hardly say that all those Non-League English clubs with Wikipedia articles are fully professional. The Derry and District League is about 4 levels below the top League in Northern Ireland, and the Ulster Senior League in the Republic of Ireland is a mere two levels behind the top league in ROI. These teams are as relevant to Irish football as all those non league amateur teams are to English football. Conor Mullan, however has had numerous trials with the likes of Limavady United F.C., Institute F.C., (appearing in friendlies) and Manchester United F.C. He is the relative of Gerry Mullan and son of the legendary Lawrence Mullan.

Overall, I'd like to say that the whole footballing spectrum on Wikipedia needs either a huge clean up, or a better tolerance of Irish Football, which, despite Wales being bigger, as you say, has experienced a higher degree of success on the European stage. Ryannus (talk) 21:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Palestine-Israel articles RfAr

As far as the remedy provisions go, yes; you're perfectly free to offer your services to the disputing parties, but we're looking to minimize complaints of involvement as far as the "big stick" aspect of things is concerned.

(In the long term, I'm hopeful that the working group remedy—assuming it passes—will lead to a better system for resolving disputes on these articles; but the Committee's workload means that we're unfortunately trapped in the position of applying a mallet rather than a scalpel, at this point.) Kirill 13:50, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Kiribati/I-Kiribati/Kiribatian

Why do you think Kiribatian is a better choice than I-Kiribati (Or even just Kiribati)? I have never seen "Kiribatian" written in print or any other medium in my research of Kiribati; normally I see Gilbertese or I-Kiribati (pronounced "e-kee-ree-bass") used. I'm not even sure how Kiribatian would be pronounced. Kee-ree-bass'in? I understand wanting to use the English demonym but this one doesn't make sense to me. --Henry W. Schmitt (talk) 02:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

On that issue, please see here. I've got several books about Kiribati, I've checked them, and they all use "I-Kiribati". That includes both those written by Western scholars and those written by I-Kiribati authors themselves. There is consensus on this point. Everybody uses "I-Kiribati"; nobody uses "Kiribatian". I'll be reverting the titles of those articles back to the correct term. Aridd (talk) 13:33, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I confess its me. I was banned for a really... really... bad reason: for "edit warring" with user: NisarKand's sock user: DreamOfJeanie and for reporting an Admin's friend for sockpuppetry (he labeled it as "proxying"). I'm not going to accept my ban until someone investigates it.
By the way, this account right now is from one of the top Universities in the world (this is the first time I'm using Wiki from the unversity libraries). Alot of smart people from here edit Wikipedia. If you block this account of mine you'll block my entire university... (just check my IP to confirm it). I don't think Wikipedia wants to block a top instition from editing. -- AmericanAnthropologist01 (talk) 19:38, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

And even if you do block my entire university form editing, I'll just go home and make another account. To stop me from making constructive edits, you would have to block my university and my ISP, which is the largest ISP in my city and used by atleast 2 million people. AmericanAnthropologist01 (talk) 19:42, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Just after AmericanAnthropologist01 was blocked, a new account appeared: StevenLeClark, who has reverted Afghan Canadian back to the version by AmericanAnthropologist01 [6]. He has also made the same changes to Template:History of Afghanistan [7] as the previous sock account, User:AbbasPeretz [8].
I don't know if this is sufficient evidence to block him, but at the very least, someone should watch that account. --Raoulduke47 (talk) 22:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi, sorry to bother you with this again, but he now seems to have created a single-purpose account to revert the Afghanistani redirect: User:ChineseGuy12 (contribs). It seems logical that "Afghanistani" should redirect to "Afghanistan", but Beh-nam absolutely wants a link to Demography of Afghanistan, where he's dumped all his POV theories. I'm getting a bit tired of reverting sockpuppets, so could you possibly semi-protect that page? Thanks. --Raoulduke47 (talk) 22:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Indonesian Elections

Thanks for tidying up the various Indonesian election pages. I did try to use the right templates, but they, and tables, easily confuse me. It was much easier when there were only three "parties". Shalom. Davidelit (talk) 13:27, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

There weren't really any elections to speak of in the colonial period. The Dutch did establish a People's Council (Volksraad) in 1918 with 10 of the 19 elected members being Indonesians. However they were elected by unelected local councils. Although the body grew steadily until 1939, it only had an advisory role, and the Dutch kept it on a tight leash. Incidentally there were local elections in many areas of Indonesia in 1957, but they are known as the "lost elections" as detailed results are impossible to obtain. The strong showing of the Communists caused a degree of panic at the time, which contributed to the postponement and then cancellation of the 1959 election. A big concern

Hello Number 57. I have a complain to make and since i am new in so called "Wikipedia World" More often this Wikipedia has been banned as a source by many Afghan communities for example in many of our meetings in regards to culture and history open discussions wikipedia has been given a bad name for being "Anti-Afghan". I am myself a member of ASAC "Afghan Student Association of Canada" where an issue of "bad" wikipedia has been rise. For you may not be aware of what i am talking about unless you kindly take your time and review some of the stuff. I don't know who is the Admin but it seems i found you and your contribution in vast areas of many topics. I thought maybe you can help us, OR to get us in contact with someone who can help us increase knowledge of Wikipedia. Or at least someone who can delete false and wrong/racist personal comments of contributers from wikipedia. Just to let you know without being Racist large number of Iranians or who-ever hates people of Afghanistan have been working in wikipedia as their full time job in fact i think they work over-time for about 18 Hour per day. Anyways my point is that them haters post nothing but foolish stuff which makes no sense. Although wikipedia has been given bad names for the past but there are some numbers who does believe in wikipedia and therefore there is a chance to safe its name from Afghans criticizing.

Please take your time, and review many Afghan related topics where you know wrong or false info has been provided. Wikipedia where haters makeup all sorts of stuff it must be controlled. An Afghan hater Anoshirawan, To name few who have been creating many user names and delete the true information and add up their own personal stuff, like Afghanistani, which has never been heard, saying Afghanistani source same as saying Americani, We all know nationality of Afghanistan's people regardless of their ethnicity are referred to as Afghan not Afghanistani or some other ethnic given name, so be fare and please review their other self created falsehood where they add everything and every famous known Afghan either singer, or politician are relating with Iran or Tajik (Turkic Persi speakers of Central Asia).

Well...

...bugger me, I didn't realise you were a Suffolk-ite (or whatever we're called). Guess I didn't check your user page out! Anyway, hopefully you'll be happy (?) to continue enhancing the Portman Road article and maybe help me get it over to FA? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:07, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, quite local, born in the town and only moved about 25 miles up the road so still around a bit. Thanks for your ideas, I'll need to sort out some references for the Pioneer Stand/selling players thing, I've always thought that had happened but only anecdotally so if you have any sources for that it'd be very handy. As for the other facilities round the back, that's a good point, I'll do some more digging. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:26, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for that ref. I can't find anything specific about the facilities behind the Britannia stand. Any ideas? The Rambling Man (talk) 14:22, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey, thanks again. I added the Col U reference since it explicitly mentioned an astroturf pitch behind the stand. Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 15:06, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Evening! Don't suppose you fancy commenting at the FAC for Portman Road, do you? Even if you don't think it's up to scratch I'd be interested in keeping the FAC moving along... Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:57, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Gilo

Hi Number 57! I was wondering if you could have a look at Gilo, which some agenda pusher is turning into a battleground (now that the real one has grown quiet...). My patience is about to blow. Thanks.--Gilabrand (talk) 06:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Number 57, i really appreciate your efforts to bring about a NPOV article that tells both and not just one side of the story - i think you did a great job with trying to come up with a compromise version. My only (small) concern is that there is mention of the biblical references twice, first at the end of the opening paragraph it states 'Gilo was named after a biblical Judean town whose name was preserved by the neighboring Bethlehem suburb of Beit Jala.' then later down the article it reads again 'The biblical town of Gilo is mentioned in the Book of Joshua (Joshua 15:51) and the Book of Samuel (II Sam 15:12) as a town in the Judean hills.[5]' Now personally I think the first one is less ambiguous and is clear in what it is trying to get at - do we really need both? What do you think about combining them? Something like.. 'Gilo was named after a biblical Judean town, mentioned in Joshua 15:51 and II Sam 15:12, whose name was preserved by the neighboring Bethlehem suburb of Beit Jala.' ? Colourinthemeaning (talk) 11:25, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Andy Iro

While he has not yet played in the MLS (since the season hasn't started), he has featured for the San Fernando Valley Quakes of the PDL. Taken from their website, it says "and UCSB defender and one-time Quakes prospect Andy Iro was drafted sixth overall by Columbus Crew". Besides, it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the Columbus Crew side, say 1 game. Might as well leave it up, I think. It would take much more work to take it down and put it up again instead of just leaving it.

Edit - Forgot to sign GauchoDude (talk) 18:45, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit2 - I just checked, doesn't seem as if he got into any matches with the PDL team. He was, however, a member of Great Britain's Summer World University Games - Bangkok 2007 roster which surely qualifies him as notable, at least until the MLS season rolls around. If he doesn't get into the first few MLS games, then I will voluntarily delete him myself. GauchoDude (talk) 20:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit3 - Well if you're going to be all strict about it, then visit 2008 MLS SuperDraft as well as the previous drafts and go to town. None of the class of 2008, aside from Lapira, "deserve" an article under your Iron Fist rule if you discount PDL play as well. I'm sure you'll make tons of friends. I'd also like you to take note of the quality and effort put into the Iro page compared to the others because Iro's page will be the last MLS page I create. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GauchoDude (talkcontribs) 22:21, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit4 - Well wikipedia is obviously lacking credibility if they fail to include someone who is a multiple time All-American as well as the best defensive player from the 2006 NCAA Tournament as not good enough. Instead of bickering with you, I have taken your ever so wise advice and have deleted his page. Now that I have done my part, I fully expect you to clean out the 2008 MLS Draft in 5 days to live up to "your end" of the bargain. Obviously it wouldn't make sense to delete one player and not the others. GauchoDude (talk) 22:35, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit5 - Be sure to go through all the years. There is also a "Supplemental Draft" which I am sure you will find particularly intriguing as well. GauchoDude (talk) 22:37, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit6 - Since I am trying to delete as much stuff as I can but don't know how, here's one for you Bryan Arguez. Please let me know how to legally delete pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GauchoDude (talkcontribs) 22:43, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit7 - Well what about if I didn't write it and the player is ineligible with Iron Fist rules? Unless I am mistaken, Bryan Arguez is insignificant as he has not made any senior team appearances, but I do not know how to do the whole "this page will be deleted in 5 days" thing that you did. GauchoDude (talk) 22:54, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Edit8 - It failed miserably. Please check Bryan Arguez and tell me what went wrong. GauchoDude (talk) 23:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD's and the USL

From what I thought I understood, while the USL is a fully professional league, it is not the highest level they could be playing at. That would obviously be the MLS. Can of worms

So, Deletion review is getting clogged up with deleted footballers, I should have thought of that as a probable consequence of attempting to redefine the criteria away from being just an ad hoc collection of rules by precedent into simple unambiguous criteria by consensus. Nobody seems to be interested in defining any other specific criteria for leagues, clubs etc, many are too busy with their conference players and England under-16 players. I don't really like giving things up but it all feels like a bit of a wasted effort at the moment. Oh and I abdicated in case you didn't notice. Regards English peasant 02:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Unclear application of the new WP:FOOTBALL criteria

Hey, I just wanted to check with you, since you're active in both the WP and AfD as well, as to how the new criteria was being applied. Jamie Price appeared in a game for Tamworth, a professional side, so that should theoretically make him notable, shouldn't it? Great Cornard

Hi. The reason I put two references for the population of Great Cornard is that the village is split into 2 wards, North and South. Deletion of club transfers

Can you shed a little more light on the recent WP:FOOTY consensus regarding the deletion of off-season transfers on club pages? You referenced it generally and in passing in your edit summary on DC United and other pages following your deletions but I'm having trouble tracking down the precise policy or the consensus that led to it. I am probably not looking in the right places (though the "Club Manual of Style" and accompanying discussion would seem to be the logical residence). It'd be nice to see what the consensus was so that the editors of DC United and various other pages don't run afoul of it again. Thanks! JohnInDC (talk) 14:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply and the link. I have to say, though, that the consensus did not seem altogether clear-cut regarding clubs that lack season-by-season pages, like DC United. The information on the DC United page was pretty useful (particularly given an off-season with a lot of activity, like they just had), and well-maintained to boot. DC United is not that big or important a club in the scheme of things, and as passionate as its fans are, that is largely by comparison to other MLS clubs. I doubt that anyone has the energy to create season-by-season pages with the transfer information, meaning that the information is really simply lost, and the page that much the weaker for it. (I would go on to add that, unlike Premiership clubs, MLS news is really not covered in great detail by the media, nor reliably consolidated in any particular place. For that reason a Wikipedia page a much more important source for that kind of information than it likely is for "real" football teams.) Thoughts? JohnInDC (talk) 15:04, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough. I decided to throw something onto the DC United discussion page to see if I'm the only one who really notices a difference. Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 15:14, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Notability

Hi, you know those criteria we worked so hard to define? Do you think we should take them to WP:BIO and ask for them to be formally accepted there, since they are formed by consensus and resolve a few of the endlessly recurring AfD debate problems like the "Anderlecht question" or do you think a better course of action would be to work on the other less controversial areas of notability like clubs, leagues and stadiums to give ourselves an "Armoury" of clear football guidelines rather than notability criteria relating only to football players before we raise it. I would be extremely dissapointed if they remain reduced to "essay" status because they were clearly defined by consensus. English peasant 23:01, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Delinking deleted articles

Hello! I have noticed you were "delinking deleted articles" in 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. I wanted to point out that all goalscorers there are linked, even if the players' articles do not exist. I reverted your first edit, but then you delinked another player, so I figured you are probably using a non-standard way of doing that (AWB?). Our coverage is big, we have exchange students coming in and out every semester and I hope I can use this page as a medium to let the new folks know the history of the team. Me and my friends will do our best to put "valuable information" into the page.

Thank you for your time.

Garswood United F.C.

You recently deleted a new article on Garswood United F.C. The explanation you gave was A7. However, as some other clubs in the same Division have their own articles, this hardly seems appropriate. Also, there are a great many articles about other clubs throughout England that compete at the same level of football. Please explain your reasoning for deletion. Thanks. Response to your question

Hi Number57. The information was in the article which I think you provided here. By the way, the latest changes you made at Arab citizens of Israel read just a little unclear. Do you think you could review the text and clean it up a bit? Thanks. Tiamuttalk 13:04, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Yeah, that's the bit I was referring to and the setnence fragment just before it. Please don't hesitate to change my additions. I don't hesitate to change yours. After all, this is a collaborative project and no one's work is sacred. :) Tiamuttalk 13:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Nice source. If you want more information too, I added a bunch of stuff a while back on voting patterns to the article on Abnaa el-Balad that comes from the 2003 elections reports. You could copy and paste it from there to the other articles on elections stuff, as long as you link back to the article you took it from in the edit summary. Cheers. Tiamuttalk 14:31, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Nice mathematical work there! As WP:TRUTH is not a policy goal, we might simply juxtapose his statements against those of others, letting them contrast against one another per WP:ATT or WP:NPOV. Given though that he is not necessarily an expert source and going into this kind of specificity might lead to WP:UNDUE in this particular article, we might simply remove his statement and replace it with a better source, like the one you have provided. I'm agnostic about it really. So go ahead and do what you think best serves the article. Good work on the new edits by the way! Tiamuttalk 14:53, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

re:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luke Sassano

Hey there #57, I usually don't edit weekends, so I apologize for the delay. I'm online for only a few rare Sunday evening moments and will answer your question. (I'll be back online in the morning (I'm in the US). You asked on my talk page to explain why I made this decision. Thanks for your interest in my decision. Quite simply, I closed it as keep because the discussion at hand (in that RfA) was to keep the article. There were an equal number of !votes for keeping and deleting, that is true, but the keep !votes, IMHO, outweighed the deletes. First, your nom was a good faith nom and counted as a delete. The second "delete" was a weak delete which didn't factor in my decision. The third, fourth and fifth argued the same points, 2 of them only saying per nom. Following that, there were three keeps that, again IMO, were strong. They noted his playing with a professional team (regardless of pre-season/whatever). The last keep !vote provided links/sources. The keeps appear to outweigh the deletes.
I did not look at a single other AfD for a single other player, and the fact that one was deleted previously for a different player has no bearing on the discussion at hand, as it could just have easily been kept based on participation at the AfD on any given 5 day period. At the very worst, I would have closed this as no consensus, which of course as you know would have defaulted to keep anyway. So you have two options here really.
1. If you strongly disagree with my closing of the debate based on the rationales given and the !voters present, you can bring it to deletiion review. Or,
2. You can wait a month or two and if the player misses the roster, or if the article in that time still does not meet your standards, you can renominate the article.
Cheers, 57. Let me know if you have any further questions! Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 01:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: your recent message on my talkpage: If I were a "vote counter", as you allude to, it would've been delete, as they outnumbered the keeps by one (if you count the "weak delete". However, I felt that the keep !votes provided stronger rationales, ie, sources to show that LS has played for a professional team, and cited that the WP:ATHLETE guideline doesn't adequately cover MLS players. that being said, I don't have any strong opinion one way or the other as to keeping or deleting this article (or similar articles), which is why I closed it instead of participating in the discussion. I appreciate your civility, and I would be open to a deletion review if you feel it's warranted, or if you feel my closure, based on the discussion at hand, was in error. Cheers, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:07, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Number 57. I'm leaving Wikipedia (for a while, anyway), so I'd like you, in cooperation with Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel, to continue the work I've been doing to translate articles about people, places and roads in Israel from Hebrew to English. Imperial Colllege School of Medicine Football Club (ICSMFC)

Dear number 57,

I have read article A7 and I think it highly unfair have you deleted my page!

Perhaps the club it is not important or significant to you, but I have spent 6 years of my life playing twice a week and spending endless hours travelling/training/fundraising. Hundreds of others have parted with equal amounts of time and effort in thier service to the club amd thier efforts deserve recognition! Not only that, but I feel that it deserves it's inclusion as it would provide a useful service for young undergraduates about to start at University to know that the club they may wish to participate in has a wide range of Footballing and social activities, and most importantly a strong grounding in football history (see United Hospitals' Challenge Cup entry - unless you want to delete that one too!!!!!!!!!)

As the page was only just created last week I have't yet learned all ins and outs of formatting, but i thought it was a bloody good go for a first time!!!!!

I await your reply! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluefrancouk (talkcontribs) 11:28, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

ICSMFC con't

"Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved, reduced to a stub, merged or redirected elsewhere or be handled with some other action short of deletion. If this is possible, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete."

If you'll please consider this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluefrancouk (talkcontribs) 11:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: ICSMFC

My protestation that the ICSMFC competes in the UH Cup as being grounds for inclusion is based on the fact that the actual trophy (1884) is the oldest in the world - you will note I have edited the United Hospitals' Challenge Cup entry. I'm currently not in possession of the Trophy so I cannot validate this at the moment, but I will make efforts to secure confirmation from the current holders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluefrancouk (talkcontribs) 13:08, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Seriously mate, you have no sense of humour! I'm not in posession of the trophy, and cannot get it so I can validify the entry in your 5 days timeframe. Why can't you just let it be for a while until I am able to get some proof. Christ, there must be thousands of articles on this thing with even less validity than either of these ones! The cup really is from 1884, but it's curretly in the possession of this year's winners (as you will se on the page, not my team) so it's not possible for me to do anything about it at the moment!!!! 15:17, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Stephen King (soccer)

I have to take you to task in connecting my RfA with my opinion for this player. Opposing my (probably first ever) invocation of WP:IAR is one thing, but to suggest that I would not be a good administrator just because I happen to disagree with you is tantamount to an assumption of bad faith. Please reconsider this tactic. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Taking you at face value, then, I'd have to say that you have not carefully reviewed Rudget's extensive summary of my editing and communicating practices. If you still feel my opinion at King's article so detrimentally reflects on my abilities and interpretations as to cause deep concern over the possibility of my becoming and administrator, I'll disagree but accept your sound and logical rebuttal.
Regarding Stephen King, I understand fully the letter of the law, as it were, and I sincerely think that if deleted before the 29th, in four days, this individual's article will instantly reappear once the season has started, King having thereafter fufilled the guidelines of WP:FOOTYN. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:46, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Again, reviewing my record should prove my reliance on standards. I've flagged for CSD more items than I can count, and usually voice a delete opinion in nearly all AfD bios, unless evidence of notability can be found. I see this AfD as a waste of everyone's time because it won't matter what the decision is, because as soon as he plays he will qualify. Mind you, I'm on the fence here... 17:55, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

At a current consensus of 7 - 3, I think you are seeing what WP:IAR means. The users expressing their opinions thusfar seem to not care that he technically hasn't played yet. Counterintuitive? - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:05, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Hebrew transliterations

Hi, please make sure to double-check before changing Hebrew transliterations in articles. I've seen you do this in many articles - the latest case is Yedioth Ahronoth, where you replaced yedi`ot aḥaronot (a correct but awkward transliteration, and you were right to change it) to Yediot Akhranot, which is far from the correct Yedi'ot Aharonot or Ydi'ot Aharonot (יְדִיעוֹת אַחֲרוֹנוֹת‎). Please consult with another Hebrew-speaking user before radically changing transliterations. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 15:39, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually the title is not a correct transliteration. Usually transliterations are added in italics after the local language script (this is standard on Wikipedia). Moreover, translation guides should only be written in IPA. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that het sounds like khaf (I'm assuming that's what you meant). I'll add a pronunciation sound to the article shortly to clarify. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 15:56, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Generally relying on how most Israelis talk is not a good idea to get the correct transliteration for anything. It's true that general near-universal trends should be respected (for example, I don't oppose using the uvular trill for resh, even though it's not correct), but Israelis often completely mispronounce simple Hebrew words, especially as far as accents are concerned. We should try to use the correct versions on Wikipedia, instead of what we hear on the Israeli streets. Het is pronounced correctly not only by Yemenites, but also by a sizable portion of Mizrahi Jews in Israel (and Israeli Arabs for that matter). In any case, I added an audio file to the article. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 16:09, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Gibraltar

I have changed back the title of 'Gibraltar general election' you moved to 'Gibraltarian.' Gibraltar is a tricky word as it can be a noun AND an adjective but the term Gibraltarian refers specifically to the people.

We have Gibraltar elections, not Gibraltarian ones, because even the English who live here are allowed to vote :)

Hope that clears up the confusion, as thats the way its referred to on the official paperwork. --Gibnews (talk) 15:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Moshavot

Hi, I think you got it wrong with moshavot. First of all, there's no 'former Moshavot', as it is very hard to define when a Moshava turns into a city, or in fact to define what exactly is considered a Moshava. Dougman68 got it right - Moshavah is any Jewsish settlement or neighbourhood, originally agricultural, while you changed it to say that a Moshava is an agricultural settlement - this is very different. Actually Moshava in Hebrew means colony/settlement and refers to any settlement which was not intended from the start as any of the other forms (kibbutz, moshav, communal settlement, etc.) Planned cities are also not considered Moshavot. However, it is wrong to create such a category, and I think you should rewrite the article Moshava, which is now completely incorrect. The Hebrew version seems to be fairly accurate, you might want to use that for reference. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 13:54, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually I don't think this category should exist at all. Even the Hebrew version clarifies that the category is only meant for 'Moshavot as an early Zionist form of settlement', which is an inherently OR categorization. I don't know why the Hebrew version keeps it, and don't think we should keep it either. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 14:13, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Infobox Football club2

I can do. Just need to think of a name for the parameter. Can't use "stadium" or "ground" as those are too similar to the parameter for the actual name of the stadium. – PeeJay 08:39, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm just trying to think of what the best way to deal with it would be. I think the best way would be with an IF function, but I'm not very good with those, particularly when wikicode is involved. – PeeJay 16:34, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

MLS

As long as every piece of information currently existing in both the MLS and general infoboxes is included in the new one with spelling/terminology variations available when necessary, I support the change. I think we should be able to include things like biggest win/loss and first game if that information is available. I think we also need to develop consensus on how to display honors, if at all in the infobox. Sorry for pulling out before, I just got frustrated by how seemingly useless the changes are. I misunderstood the need for the change to a standard template. I realize now that its so things can be changed universally, but the superficial look to the info can be customized. You've really done a lot of good work trying to build consensus and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Sorry if I've been a pain in the ass. It just gets really frustrating being an American trying to participate in the football discussions, because everyone is dismissive and patronizing. I think that's why we are protective of the American soccer articles, because generally only Americans care enough to edit them. We're not used to dealing with "outsiders" for lack of a better term, showing up and messing with our stuff. I believe you have a winner with that box. Well done. Only change I see that still needs to be made is the American english option for the word "Color". However I suppose that wouldn't apply to Toronto strictly speaking since they're in Canada. Gateman1997 (talk) 14:06, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Good call. After that is done I believe it's ready for implementation assuming they stop bickering at the Footy discussion. It now mirrors the MLS box and actually has a few added fields like the position the previous season. Gateman1997 (talk) 16:42, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Axel Orrström

Hi Number57, I have no idea if the Ykkönen (the league of Atlantis FC) is fully professional or not, but I know that some editors deem it not to be, see the Lauri Dalla Valle AfD - Dalla Valle looked to have played with JIPPO in that league but was still deleted. I also didn't realise that the article was previously proposed for deletion. Personally I view Orrström as notable, which is why I created the article, but if you and others disagree, and the article is redeleted, then so be it, and I apolgise for having had to have wasted your time. Kind regards, GiantSnowman (talk) 18:19, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Further - I have just realised that the Veikkausliiga, Finland's top league, is not fully-pro. From its entry: "Most of the clubs in Veikkausliiga are professional, although some of the smaller clubs are semi-professional. Average attendance has been slightly under 3000." Infobox football club issues

Hi, it seems your recent changes on Template:Infobox Football club caused some issues with a number of articles (e.g., AC Bellinzona, FC Gossau); apparently, your edits are the main cause behind the huge top margin before the article lead. Can you please have a look at this? Thanks in advance, --Angelo (talk) 21:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

AFC Wimbledon

Wait, why? It's clearly the improper name of the club and so it shouldn't be the proper name of the article. I don't understand how policy could possibly support keeping something at the incorrect location. -- Grant.Alpaugh 19:00, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Right but there is clear incongruity between the article and the article's title. The talk page and elsewhere has brought this up. There's no reason not to make the change. -- Grant.Alpaugh 19:07, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

57, thanks for the note, I was unaware of the rejected RM. Cheers for letting me know. I'm not sure I understand the issue, the club call themselves AFC without the full stops, but, as ever, I will defer to consensus. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:24, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Gibraltarian sovereignty referendum, 2002

Hi Number 57. A user has requested that I review your recent page move. Image:Voggref02.jpg would seem to be a genuine photo of an official election poster which uses the name Gibraltar Referendum and the user feels this would be a better title for the article. What do you think? --John (talk) 20:46, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I withdrew the complaint for the time as I noticed that John who I had asked to look at the issue left a message (see above) on your talk page. Whatever the reasons for your moves it does not make any sense and you seem unwilling to discuss the matter OR to look at what the things are actually called. If you were not an admin you would not have been able to move the Gibraltar Referendum to Gibraltarian referendum so its a missuse of your status. Can I suggest you read the article and look at the picture of the notices.

I really don't know why you are so insistent on this when its illogical - the sources all say GIBRALTAR not GIBRALTARIAN.

--Gibnews (talk) 14:01, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps I am explaining this badly and in a confrontational manner - let me put it differently - what would it take for you to change your mind and rename the articles Gibraltar instead of Gibraltarian thats a simple question. --Gibnews (talk)
It seems one that you do not care to answer. --Gibnews (talk) 18:16, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Is there any chance you could revisit this decision? It seems to me that Gibnews has a point. If not, maybe we should seek wider input. Thanks for your attention. --John (talk) 05:49, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
In view of the lack of progress, I have reinstated my complaint on ANI. --Gibnews (talk)
Let me state my objective is not to start a dispute, however renaming these events Gibraltarian is wrong and something I would like to see corrected - I fail to see why you are so insistent about the matter when even the official documents are clear. However can I suggest you read This which explains who was eligible to vote, and extrapolate from that the reason WHY its a Gibraltar event and not a Gibraltarian one. Similar rules apply to general elections. --Gibnews (talk) 16:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

MLS stuff

My initial reaction was to say I trust your best judgement, however, take a look at Template:Cleveland Indians. My issue is this: Does every team have their own template for that box? Like is there anything that allows changes to be made to every one like the infobox at the top of the article. Unless there is, I see no reason to standardize, especially because of the major NA sports franchise issue, and the lack of an ability to make standardized changes being a non issue. That was the only thing that got me to agree to the changes to the standard infobox.

As for the edit you were talking about, John Oliver did a bit in a special that debuted that night about Wikipedia and said that that change should be made to the George W. Bush article, so I made it. -- Grant.Alpaugh 12:23, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

As of right now I wouldn't support changing anything. Maybe changing the order of the boxes so that the wide ones are all on the bottom with the narrow ones being on the top would help create a more appealing visual look, but as for the content and whatnot I think we need to keep in line with both standards. Keep talking to me about it though if you feel this is a big issue. -- Grant.Alpaugh 18:26, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Erekat article stuck on the wrong version

I think your perspective, which usually opposes mine, is accepted by the anti-Jaakobou crowd and I was wondering if you'd be interested in helping dissolve the conflict on Saeb Erekat - see following diff.
Cheers, JaakobouChalk Talk 15:02, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

As you may have noticed if you've looked at the talk page on Erekat, I have been the other editor most active recently (with about ten others at various times before me) in trying to limit the material on the Jenin "controversy" to a reasonable volume so that there is a modicum of balance to the page overall. It has never been a significant issue in any mainstream profile of Erekat I've ever seen, and there has never been an explanation as to why it deserves so much prominence or detail here. This is the second time Jaakobou has headed off somewhere looking for help, talking about the "wrong" version and simply demanding the return of "his" version, while giving the impression he is looking for compromise, or a solution to conflict. See here for example, where he employed the same tactic and also - as here - failed to notify me that he was seeking input of this sort into the debate. Anyway, that ramble aside, I'm happy for someone else to pitch in of course, and accept, as I did in the MedCab case, that changes can be made and more material added to the current version. But it really shouldn't go back to the bloated (and as it happens badly written) section that was there before, replete with unecessary sources and footnotes, and reliant as it was on partisan op-eds for its insinuation that Erekat is a liar or deliberately made stuff up; and I would like to be kept in the loop on any discussions, in case I miss them. Enjoy your break. --Nickhh (talk) 20:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Template:National elections

Hi there. About you reverting my changes—I didn't mess up the headings, I merely removed the specific colour so that it would revert to the automatic colour of Template:Navbox generic, per WP:NAV. Also, there was a consensus; on the talk page, it was agreed to standardise with Navbox generic, and the colour of the headings is part of that. If we want the template to be standard and not stick out like a sore thumb, the colour should match the majority of Wikipedia's templates. I don't see any reason to have the headings be an arbitrarily different colour. Mr. Absurd (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, you're right. That's because of the way that the template is set up... it uses the "evenstyle" parameter instead of actual headers. To make it work you'd have to change the 'evenstyle' background to '#CACCFF'. Mr. Absurd (talk) 22:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

RfB Comments

Responded as requested, thanks! -- Avi (talk) 21:30, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Your response was fair and reasoned; thanks. I'm bringing this here on your talk page since I think there is no reason to drag this into the RfB, but as a point of history, the MONGO RfA supporters included the following editors who have similar pro-Israeli interests (NTTIAWTT) Leifern (#51), Yahel Guhan (#59), JzG (#61), Briangotts (#75), jossi (#78), Slrubenstein (#85), Shamir1 (#87), Jayjg (#88), Shalom (#93), Humus Sapiens (#109), and 6SJ7 (#116) to name many of the RfA participants. There is nothing wrong with their voting the same way, they share similar interests and this was a widely viewed RfA. My own political point of view is no secret either, and in various articles I will find my views often coinciding with theirs. My point here is, however, an indication that I do make up my own mind, and when I feel something is in the best interests of the project, I am not swayed by peer- or group pressure, but opine in a way that I think is best for the wikipedia project. I intend to continue to do so as an editor and a sysop, and as a 'crat as well, should the community see fit to allow me that flag. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 00:28, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, previously you had warn this person to quit vandalism or something but it is still vandalizing pages [11] that others worked so hard on adding infoboxes and lots of new helful data. Anoshirawan's latest edits are all vandalism, he or she is removing and falsifying information in articles. Also, he or she is a sockpuppet of Tajik and I can prove this. Both Anoshirawan and Tajik live in the same city in Germany if you can check the IP, and both are involved in editing the same articles, with exactly the same POVs in mind on everything. The following are the diffs between Tajik and Anoshirawan:

[12], [13]

You should indef block the user for refusing to quit disruption and vandalism, and many appropiate warnings were previously given to it by you. If you don't feel like doing anything can you at least file a checkuser and you can just copy paste the diffs there so other administrators can cofirm that he/she is a sockpuppet of Tajik and then indef blocked. I'm doing this to teach it that vandalism leads to no where.--Tajikam 17:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I'd appreciate your input about W-D-L or W-L-T standings in US soccer articles. I'm on the other side of this issue, because we're not dealing with content, we're dealing with style. After we reached consensus to keep the MLS unique content in the infoboxes we deferred to the international order of things (i.e. kit templates at the bottom of the boxes, etc.), so I think we should defer to the international standard for tables as well. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the issue, especially since you did such a great job building consensus in the last debate. Hope all is well. Cheers! -- Grant.Alpaugh 19:52, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, #57.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. I wanted to especially thank you for engaging me in discourse, and clarifying the issues that gave you the most reservations. In the future, should you have any constructive criticism, please feel free to let me know, as the best way for a person to grow is with the help of others. Once again, thank you for your participation. -- Avi (talk) 20:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Intriguingly, removing the <div>s reduced the template's height only very mariginally here (Firefox v2 on a Windows XP PC) but moved the wrapped lines within the template further apart, i.e. making them look less associated with each other. Do you see a significant change in the template's height where you are? Sardanaphalus (talk) 23:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

  • <div>s still present: So they are; sorry to have missed that. I've now removed them, though, in favor of an "oddstyle" parameter that hopefully keeps the wrapped lines closer to each other as above. Flags: I eventually worked out how to move these to the lefthand side of the headings as they then sit next to their countries' names. You sure that doesn't make sense? Perhaps I should post a message asking for more opinions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Elections and Referenda, or might there be a better place? Sardanaphalus (talk) 13:40, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Conor Hourihane

HI, please review the Conor Hourihane page you have put up for deletion, he has played in a nationally recognised Cup competition for a professional organisation which is listed on their website[25] and represented his country in a Internationally recognised Championship competition which is also listed on their website[26]

The reason states he 'has never played in a fully professional league' yet if you read the rule you have put the article up for deletion because of WP:BIO#Athletes, it states that "Exceptions to this would be players in professional developmental leagues, such as minor league baseball."

Does the fact he is signed to professional club playing in the Under 18 Premier league, the FA Youth cup and the UEFA under 17 Championship all of which are under the sanctioning of Professional sporting bodies not warrant an exception?

Multi-state

I saw on your userpage that you "believe in a multi-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict." This is certainly something I've never seen before. What do you mean "multi-state"? What other states can there be besides a Jewish, an Arab (or a bi national) one? I'm only asking you this since it was on your userpage and I found it interesting. If you don't wish to discuss this matter, that's cool with me.Bless sins (talk) 04:45, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

That's an interesting solution. However, a couple of things should be noted. Though Kurds exist in Syria, Iran, Iraq and Turkey, only in the latter two countries have they any major separatist movements.
Also, I haven't seen the Druze enter into a conflict with either Muslims (Sunnis and Druze form the pro-Western coalition in Lebanon) or Jews (Druze serve alongside Jews in the Israeli military).
As for the Assyrians, their state would be far too small to be independent,[27] and would like be an autonomous region in an independent country.
Hey, what would you say to Middle Eastern federation of states (much like the European Union) that could unite the peoples of the Middle East, instead of dividing them?

2009 election

I was just about to create an article on the 2009 Malawian election; the purpose of adding it to the template was to give me a convenient link when I decided to do it. If red linked elections can't go in the template, why don't you delete all the red linked past elections? Everyking (talk) 04:10, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

AFAICR, it wasn't my idea, but it was convincingly argued by someone who's since left Wikipedia that if we wanted to link to a future election in the template, we should at least know enough about the election to also create at least a stub on it... And I can see no good counterargument to that, personally. —Nightstallion 22:55, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of David Dodd

It's not necessary to delete this article. Despite the fact that he hasn't yet played a game for Queensland Roar he has definately played senior team games for his previous clubs. And there's a very good chance he'll play a senior game for Roar when the season starts, which means all the work already done for his page will have to be redone. Besides, all players signed to an A-League club have their own page regardless of how many games they're played, due to the fact that because of the small playing roster of the A-League there's a very high chance they'll play at least one game in the upcoming season. Blackjanedavey (talk) 18:17, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Ok but what about the fact that he has definately played a senior game for his previous clubs (in a fully professional league)? Surely that means his page is valid. I just can't find the exact number of games because that information is not available on the internet. Blackjanedavey (talk) 14:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
He played for the Palm Beach Sharks in the Brisbane Premier League. This was before the Queensland State League, which was only introduced this year, so the BPL was the highest form of competition for footballers in the state of Queensland until this year. As far as I know, it is a fully professional league.

Bustan al-Marj towns

Thanks for creating the articles on Bustan al-Marj Regional Council's towns. I expanded ed Dahi somewhat. I was going to add some info on Kafr Misr, but it contradicted what the article already said. In the article it says Kafr Misr was founded by the Zoabi family of Ramtha, however the municipal site says "Some have lived in the area for hundreds and even thousands of years, others came to the village from Egypt in the beginning of the 19th century when the Egyptians captured the area for a while." and "In historical maps from 1799, the village was called "Mavela" which means beauty. The Crusaders called it "Kaphar Mazre" and, due to its unique fertile area and water supply, it became an agriculture center. Ancient locations in the village show the centrality of its role over years. It is located at a valley between two major mountains in the region: Mr. Dahei and Mt. Tabor."

I don't which one to believe. Could you add the source to the Zoabi claim? --Al Ameer son (talk) 23:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Football Notability

Question about Real Salt Lake player Tino Nunez. Obviously he does not have a profile as of yet, however it appears he has made 2 appearances for the club. These were in the US Open Cup, which I believe is equivalent to the FA Cup. The notability criteria (#2) states:

Have played in a competitive fixture between two "FPNL clubs" (in the FA Cup or League Cup, non-English equivalent, Continental or Intercontinental club competition).

Would this qualify? Proof of his appearances are as follows:

Please let me know if this is good.

Disregard, he literally just came into the MLS league match right now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GauchoDude (talkcontribs) 02:49, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Israeli champion boxes

Relating to seasons 66/68, 93/94. why is it wrong/pointless? I only added it because its on any other season of any other league in europe. KradineerG (talk) 09:45, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello again, I got your answer and I agree, though its on every other league so it doesnt really matter.

Anyway, in Ligat ha'Al 2000-01 in the intro you listed the teams that got rrelegated in the same season unlike the other season pages and unlike the 'agenda' of not telling the user twice what he can see with the table. KradineerG (talk) 10:23, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

About relegation issue, if you write the teams relegated on the season then you need to write it on every season page.. same with the champion box, my thought from the beginning is that the season pages stay with the same structure.

you cant do this on 1 page and the other in another pages.

btw - thanks for all the clean ups, your doing a good job :) KradineerG (talk) 19:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Serie D

Only 3 years have been detailed here at wikipedia: 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08. Serie D goes back a lot further, but I think if we include all those seasons in the template, they will remain unreferenced. Thanks for helping me out. Juve2000 (talk) 15:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

thanks for the template, however, I prefer the current format to the one you used for Serie D and are pushing for in the Serie B template. Please explain why the smaller font size is better. I don't think saving a few lines on a page is a good enough reason. Juve2000 (talk) 18:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
If remember correctly, Serie A, B, C1 and C2 were all the same before you changed them all. Who else is using your format? Juve2000 (talk) 18:32, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Both examples you mention were templates created just one year ago, so I would not call them the standard by any means. I think you should bring up the issue on WT:FOOTY and stop reverting the editors want to change it back to the old format.Juve2000 (talk) 18:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Now you're just being a baby. I'm not gonna play this reverting game with you. I laugh when you change them all and then call it Standard. Bye bye.Juve2000 (talk) 18:59, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Codicote F.C. listed for deletion

Thanks for your diligent work, however I'd like to ask you to remove your deletion tag on the Codicote F.C. article. I would agree that Codicote unfortunately don't meet the notability guidelines at present, but ironically you have put that tag up in the very month that Codicote are expected to be accepted to the FA Vase for the first time in their history. I agree that's not conclusive proof, though I'll point out that even their official website ticker has the news up, and even if they are rejected, it just seems like the wrong decision to put a notice of deletion up right now when they are so close. I'd like to ask you to delay the deletion note by a month - by which time, we'll know if they are in the FA Vase or not. Falastur2 (talk) 23:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

No problem, glad to help out. And I'm not a member of TK, no. What's it about? Falastur2 (talk) 13:22, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, lol. Now wouldn't there have been some irony if I'd linked you to a thread you'd posted in. No, I'm not a member, an Altavista web search found that for me. I was just hoping to save the article since I hold a special place in my heart for Hertfordshire non-league sides - probably because non-league football interests me and I love Hertfordshire. I live about 5 miles away from Codicote, actually, if that, in Hitchin. But now that you say that about TK, I might drop by to read it more often. I'm not around enough to attend any games at the moment, due to being at University, and I was never into football as I am now before I left, which is the real reason I'm not actually a member of any non-league forums. Just for you knowledge the offcial name of the Tunisian League is : "Championnat de la ligue professionelle 1" abriviated into CLP-1 therefor th template was correct.

Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 2006-07

I moved it to match the title of the main article: Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 as should be the case. If this article :title is wrong, please move it.
Also, do not mark my edits as vandalism. Doing so using Twinkle may result in your permission to use the tool being removed. :пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:05, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm. I see you've reverted quite a few of my edits. ::This is not a readable ::article - we do not need massive copies of the club badges - the table is more than sufficient to provide the information. ::пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Also, when you want to add more than one template to an article, you can nest them, i.e.
{{fb start}}
{{Ligue Professional 1}}
{{Football in Tunisia}}
{{fb end}}
This removes the spaces between the templates and makes it look better. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:27, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Are you Tunisian soccer fan? Do you folow Tunisian soccer? Do you know how crazy Tunisians are about soccer?

It's quite significant to have the logos in every single article. To indicate the history and the differences. so please could you net do any cleanup in Tunisian soccer related pages unless you open discussion about it please. Also I'm well awaer of the space that that leaves...and you think it looks better but it's not a fact ...since there was no survey about it. One quick question: Why was your page Vandalised more than 15 times??

Please Give Me a Break!

Please stop editing the Tunisian league pages as you clearly have contributed only in deleting and omitting things...almost never adding any bit of new information. Why don't make a survey and check with Tunisian wikipedians and check what do the think is proper for the league pages ...it's not a law not all the pages have to look a like, it's not the military here!

Tons of other leagues pages are not standard ...the Moroccan ones for instance...so please edit some other pages.

Please edit some other pages. Pretend that those page do not exist in wikipedia... Please do take a clear look at your pages men a lot of people are complaining about your deletions.

I have replied on the relevant talk page about the Mizrahi Worker. About the other issue, I really don't know if the affiliations still stand. I'm sure that at least some of these localities have websites, or a website for the regional council, which may clarify the official position of the kibbutz/moshav. No time to check that now, but if you give me a list of the locations, I'll look for the websites on day.

English Football Clubs

I notice you've proded many English football clubs, with the comment "Club fails to meet generally accepted notability criteria for English football clubs, i.e. having played at Step 6 or above, or in the FA Cup or Vase.". I've been going through WP:NOTE and other pages and I can't find this criteria anywhere, please advise me where I can find it. I am concerned about removing articles about teams that are over 100 years old. Nfitz (talk) 07:25, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

  • If that's the case, then there should be additions made to WP:NOTE, etc. And with most of the teams I can agree - but those that have lots of published references surely meet notability requirements for an organization. And I'd think any with a history over 100 years, and perhaps even over 60 years, would be another issue.
  • In terms of players, I'm not unconvinced that a professional player playing for a professional team in Tier 5 such as Conference National shouldn't be notable. It's hard for me to buy that they show Conference National games here on TV in Canada - but that their professional players aren't notable. I'd be curious to see a breakdown between professionals and non-professionals in the league. Nfitz (talk) 15:55, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, if he was bought by Partizan, he is now a member of a top Serbian team, which is of course professional. -- Darwinek (talk) 22:13, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Non-notable football clubs

There is no official policy, but it has been consensus at many past AfD debates, i.e.:

There was probably a discussion about it on the WT:FOOTY page if you can trawl through the talk pages to find it. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 10:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I also see you !voted keep in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tommy Smith (footballer born 1990). I would urge you to have a look through the debates of the last few articles I nominated for deletion:
before commenting on the Killian AfD. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 10:48, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Just for info, the Conference National is not a fully professional league. There are several semi-pro clubs, whose players are not full-time footballers. These include Histon, Lewes and Altrincham. пﮟოьεԻ 57 16:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Before you start doing this on a regular basis, please read WP:ATHLETE. The guideline states:
"Competitors who have competed in a fully professional league."
As I noted above, the Conference National is not a fully professional league. Please could you go back to all the places where you have misinterpreted this and correct your comments. Thanks, пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:02, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It's primarily a professional league. Most of the teams are fully professional. Nfitz (talk) 14:23, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
"Most" doesn't count. It has to be "fully". пﮟოьεԻ 57 14:35, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure I agree - this certainly hasn't been consistently applied elsewhere. Look at Stirling Albion for example. Even thought the Scottish Second Division isn't a fully professional league, every player on the team has a page, even though many haven't played at a higher level. Though I'd certainly think that Conference National was playing a higher level of football than Scottish Second Division. Nfitz (talk) 14:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
You are forgetting that Stirling Albion spent last season in the Scottish First Division, which is generally accepted to be a fully professional league. Hence any player that played for them last season has played in a fully pro league. пﮟოьεԻ 57 14:46, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
That's what I get for randomly picking a Scottish Second Division team ... you certainly have me there. I just have a hard time buying that a league comprised almost entirely of professionals, with international TV contracts, doesn't meet the fully professional criteria. Nfitz (talk) 14:55, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Anyway, as you obviously don't believe that I am representing the policy correctly, please bring it up on WT:FOOTY as I can't be bothered to argue the point anymore. Cheers, пﮟოьεԻ 57 14:49, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It's not obvious to me that ... not sure how it's obvious to you. You seem to be entirely correct and consistent in interpreting the policy. I'm concerned that we are loosing the big picture, focusing on detailed rules, rather than the intent of them. I'm just noticing there was a recent debate on Conference National at WT:FOOTY#Are English Conference National players considered notable? that I should review. Nfitz (talk) 15:00, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Hang on - the discussion at WT:FOOTY seems to conclude that professional Conference National players on all-professional teams are notable as per WP:FOOTYN. Nfitz (talk) 15:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
WP:FOOTYN was developed by WP:FOOTY but was not accepted by the wider community, so at the moment is meaningless. Plus the Conference is not "almost entirely" professional. Only slightly more than half the teams are fully pro. Altrincham, Barrow, Burton, Crawley, Forest Green, Histon, Lewes, Kettering, Northwich and Salisbury (10 out of 24) are all semi-pro. пﮟოьεԻ 57 15:19, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
I hadn't realised it was that high. Though the WP:FOOTYN definition seems to hold despite that. Has there been a "wider community" discussion of this somewhere? People seem to cite it in AFD discussions, and dismiss it there. Nfitz (talk) 15:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Apologies for not getting back to you yesterday. I did edit on wikipedia but got sidetracked. Anyway this may get lengthy and messy so please bear with me. I fully realise that there have been AfD's previously for clubs. However, I do not believe that the "cut off point" used to determine whether a club (in England specifically) is notable or not is correct. Apart from which as you say it is not policy. For inclusion on wikipedia articles need to be about a notable subject regardless of what level they happen to play football. As another editor mentioned at least one of the clubs (and I am only talking about West Lancashire League [WLL] clubs here) is well referenced and is an article about a club that has been in existence for well over a hundred years. In fact many of the clubs are well over 100 years old. Attendances at a number of WLL games are comparable to leagues higher than the WLL, as are many of their facilities. One such example being Charnock Richard F.C. which you prodded. Yet it contains well sourced material, and is certainly in my opinion, a positive addition to wikipedia. Their record crowd (at the Reebok stadium for a Cup Final) is 1,826. They are working on ground development that will eventually bring it up to Northern Premier Leagus standard. Most WLL clubs represent a town, village, area. In my opinion wikipedia should be including information that would be useful in an encyclopaedia which I also then maintain that articles about those clubs is. Their inclusion certainly does no harm to wikipedia, rather the opposite as a number of the articles you "prodded" are well sourced, well written with infoboxes, images, full information. I should point out that I didn't create any of the articles so I am not defending their inclusion as the article creator, just that I think the "generally accepted" cut off point for clubs is in this particular case wrong. I have worked on quite a few of the articles though. We have at least one Sunday League club with an article on wikipedia which was created by a member of the footy project, simply because it has had a handful of players who went on to become professional footballers. I think John Terry is one of them but I haven't looked so apologies if I'm wrong. My point being that if exceptions can be made for a Sunday League team then there is clearly some ambiguity over what is and what is not notable with regard to English football clubs. I did say this may get lengthy and messy and I have probably forgotten some of what I had intended to include, but hope you at least can see my point about all this. Thank you♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:26, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Aye I thought you would put them forward for AfD and I wasn't trying to persuade you to do otherwise, just giving my opinion as you did ask for a reply. I think you are wrong and will be putting forward my vote and reasons, as will you of course. Especially so in the case of articles which are well written, fully sourced, and perfectly notable that do not fail notability requirements and the only reason for proposing them is not even based on any wikipedia policy, rather something that is vaguely "generally accepted". Just to add, I notice that you only included a selection of clubs, and did not inlcude Charnock Richard F.C., Could you please explain why?♦Tangerines♦·Talk 19:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

With regard to this comment, "could probably write an article on a Sunday league team and reference it to my local paper" with respect writing an article about a Sunday League team is not even remotely relevant. None of the clubs are "sunday league teams". I very much doubt that the outcome will be anything other than delete, I am though entitled to vote and my opinion, and comments about "Sunday League teams" are totally irrlevant. Charnock Richard are developing their ground so that it eventually meets Northern Premier League requirements. West Lancashire League clubs are promted to the North West Counties League if they meet the requirements. Hardly releveant to compare them to a Sunday League team. And as I already said, there is at least one article about a Sunday lague team on wikipedia.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 19:55, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. Canvassing on wikipedia is not simply asking someone who was involved in a discussion to look at the AfD, when they otherwise probably wouldn't see it. My message was deliberately neutral. And I would be grateful if you would not leave me any further messages on this matter. Thank you. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 15:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Kettering Town

Firstly, there were already some "Current" players in the "Notable former playres" list, and some of the players in there did not deserve it, and as a kettering fan, i know who should be in there.

Secondly, "Famous Fans" IMO is a good little piece of info, and deserves to be there, as when i seen it, i thought it was very interesting.

Deletion review for Jason Naidovski

I have asked for a deletion review of Jason Naidovski. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Sorry if I appear to be a bit of a thorn in your side lately; nothing personal, and I think your doing a great job here, despite the way I expect my actions appear. Nfitz (talk) 03:17, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Hi! Re this edit, I don't think it's entirely fair to describe the Tommy Smith deletion review as "an incredibly poor choice". While that DRV rejected WP:FOOTYN's more inclusive standards than WP:ATHLETE, Smith did meet that standard, and I think, as a speedily deleted article which met the inclusion standards of a major Wikiproject, deserved a wider hearing. --Stormie (talk) 21:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
    • Ah, fair enough, I didn't realise that that issue had been raised with him prior to the DRV. My apologies! --Stormie (talk) 21:38, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Canvassing (not)

:Regarding the note, it's sailing pretty close to the wind of WP:CANVAS, so I wouldn't advise doing so again. пﮟოьεԻ 57 21:54, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Uh, hang on. You prodded a bunch of clubs in the same league. I'd removed (at least) one prod. He removed others. You put some to AFD that he removed the prods, but not the one(s) I removed. He notified me in a neutral manner as a courtesy. I'd say that his notification was not canvassing - and probably something you should have notified me of ... though I can understand that one might not because of time constraints of notifying many people. I'm sure I'd have joined the discussion at some point though, as I was still monitoring. Nfitz (talk) 03:23, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

DRVs

You are clearly acting in bad faith. Your decision to take the Tommy Smith article to DRV was utterly ridiculous, and the result there only serves to prove that. Just accept that a lot of football related articles are not notable. We don't want to fill the encyclopedia with crap. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:07, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

  • That remark is competely and totally uncalled for, it is a personal attack, a violation of WP:NPA. I don't see how you think this is bad faith and "utterly ridiculous" given he actually passes the criteria agreed to in WP:FOOTYN and the other two procedural points I raised have been upheld. I'd like an apology here. Nfitz (talk) 14:50, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

No Personal Attacks

No, it is not a personal attack, it just plain speaking. You are quite clearly out to disrupt the encyclopedia by deliberately messing around people you disagree with. Starting DRVs or questioning admins on every closure you disagree with is pretty bad form. The WP:FOOTYN thing has been explained to you several times - it is not regarded as a guideline or policy. Please give up trying to prove a point, and wasting our time with AfDs or DRVs on players/clubs which are clearly not notable according to our policies or past consensus, and do something useful like starting new articles on notable subjects or expanding existing ones. пﮟოьεԻ 57 18:40, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

That's another personal attack. Please stop. Of course I'm not out to disrupt the encylopedia to mess around people that I disagree with. What a completely hurtful and hateful thing to say. As I've already pointed out, I agree with you on most of the AFDs, etc. I'm not sure why your out to pick fights with anyone who disagrees with you, but it is most inappropriate behaviour, particularly from an Admin. You should know better. Please stop, and apologise. Thanks, Nfitz (talk) 22:24, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, but there will be no apology - I haven't call you a moron, I've just pointed out that your behaviour is unhelpful. Since the Kilian Elkinson thing started you have made 72 edits, all but 5 of which were related to football articles or AfDs which clearly failed our policies. However, in every case you have attempted to keep them through removing prods, !voting and taking them to DRV. As for saying you agree with me on stuff, why have you opposed all of the three AfDs I created which you voted on. пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:32, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Well perhaps we can at least come to some kind of truce. I've made it quite clear that there is nothing personal here. After seeing the Kilian Elkinson thing, I did go through all the recent football-related AfDs and Prods, and found a few things that I disagreed with, and spoke out. I certainly don't think all the AFDs I commented on were yours - I wasn't really looking at who did them. I certainly supported a couple of the more recent AFDs - perhaps they were also not your, but I thought I saw your name on the discussion - but I wasn't really paying attention as the names aren't important. I saw quite a few I agreed with, that I didn't bother to comment on (or bulk ones, where there's only 1 or 2 I objected to) - as there was clearly no support for keeping, and little point commenting further. I've seen a few of your prods, and as far as I know, I only removed one! I'm finding WP:FOOTY confusing as it directly references notability as being on WP:FOOTYN with no indication that is is only draft. I've only appealed two deletions, and I've already conceded on the second after new evidence came to light (though some procedural stuff is still being discussed, which of course were not important enough to raise if they were the only issues). My edit count in a 5-day period is normally only 3 or 4 articles. I simply felt I had to look at the Football AFDs as it would be irresponsible of me to only look at the single one that I had first come across. Nfitz (talk) 22:46, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Deutsch Inc.

Hi. I see you unilaterally deleted an article on advertising agency Deutsch Inc. as "blatant advertising." Deutsch is a very famous agency (to which I have no connection), and I believe the article was reliably sourced with major media coverage like this and this. While it stands to reason that an article about an ad agency would talk about advertising, my concern is twofold: 1. I am quite certain it was sourced and therefore should have gone through AfD (which you are welcome to do), and 2. the edit history is now unavailable to see what exactly you unilaterally deleted. Can you restore the information you deleted, or at least send it to me so I can see what prompted this out-of-process speedy deletion? Thank you. Jokestress (talk) 18:45, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Bishops Waltham Town

The site you link to appears to be wrong - it states that Wessex League 2 was level 10 in 2006-7, however, it was actually level 11 - above it were the

  1. Premier League
  2. Championship
  3. League One
  4. League Two
  5. Conference
  6. Conference South
  7. Southern League Premier
  8. Southern League Division One
  9. Wessex Premier
  10. Wessex One

See Tony Kempster's site for 2006-07 - Wessex One is listed as Step 6 (level 10).

I went through all the articles prior to prodding them and checked them out at the Football Club History Datbase to ensure that they had not met the criteria (see Bishop Waltham Town's entry) - hence me not prodding Locks Heath F.C. who play in the same league, but have played higher. пﮟოьεԻ 57 18:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

  • You may well be correct - and I was scratching my head as Division One is Level 10 now - I assumed it was something else previously; this also goes to your prod of Wellow F.C. which has also played in this division. My primary objection is that bundling things like this makes it difficult to discuss, and I'd be a lot happier if each article had it's own AFD. Nfitz (talk) 18:49, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but as noted, they are all 3-5 sentence long prods. As Keeper 76 noted, bundling these is much preferred. Plus, there is no problem with objecting to the deletion of one or more article, but not some others during an AfD - this has happened many times. пﮟოьεԻ 57 18:52, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I don't think Keeper 76 was correct, and I raised the topic at the Village pump yesterday. Hang on, how come you you AFDed 9 teams in the same league, when 8 still had prods on them. Wouldn't it be simpler to simply AFD the one that the prod was removed? Surely prodding them all, and then seeing what people object to, and just AFDing them would be simpler for all? Nfitz (talk) 18:56, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
  • "See Tony Kempster's site for 2006-07 - Wessex One is listed as Step 6 (level 10).". Hang on, I was looking at this. That page seems odd, and shows at the top that this is 2008/2009 despite the page name. However 2005/2006 at [28] is clearer, and shows Wessex One as Step 5 and Wessex Two as Step 6. Nfitz (talk) 19:04, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
I spotted that at exactly the same time! As such, I've withdrawn them from the nomination. However, I can't see any of the other clubs there - Overton, Stoneham, Clanfield, Colden C, Fleetlands, Hamble Club, Otterbourne and Paulsgrove definitely haven't played above Wessex 3 (or 2 as it is now). The renaming definitely makes it confusing... пﮟოьεԻ 57 19:10, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
  • That's one thing we can agree on! The constant renamings make it very confusing. As far as I'm concerned League 2 is Division 4! :) Nfitz (talk) 19:14, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I'll review again - but to be honest my breakfast is getting cold, the baby is waking, and the bathroom needs cleaning. So I'll leave for now, as it will take some time to look at the other seven clubs. Nfitz (talk) 19:21, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
    • I commented at the AFD, where I documented that Colden Common previously played at Level 9. Nfitz (talk) 03:01, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
      • I guess that makes sense - he's the expert. Boy this does get complex ... Nfitz (talk) 08:11, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Winchester Castle F.C.

Morning #57. As far as I know, the Hampshire League only got a Premier division very recently. In 1985-86, when Castle where promoted to division one, I think the non-league structure was Conference > Southern League Premier > Southern League South > Hampshire League Div 1 (the Wessex League didn't start until 1986-87, so they have even been Step 4 here). I've been trying to find more details on their earlier existance so I can expand that article, but things are pretty sketchy - I don't think they even have their own website. Bettia (rawr CRUSH!) 09:13, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Heh - confusing's not the word for it! I hope they sort out this whole Hampshire Premier League / Hampshire League 2004 mess soon. Bettia (rawr CRUSH!) 09:19, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I was wrong about them possibly being Step 4 though - they were playing at Div One level in the Wessex League's first two seasons, which made them Step 5. Bettia (rawr CRUSH!) 09:21, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Overton United AFD

That's a useful table. Any reason not that it shouldn't be part of Wikipedia - without the colouring. Perhaps on the Hampshire League section after history, in a section perhaps called "Historical position within English football league system" Nfitz (talk) 19:52, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Things seem to change so frequently, that I think in this case a picture, or table, is worth a 1,000 words. I'm certainly less concerned about the remaining clubs, but I'll have to go through them. Nfitz (talk) 20:29, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Of the ones that are left, Hamble FC is listed at http://www.fchd.info/HAMBLECL.HTM as being Hampshire 2 (Level 10) from 1997 to 1999, and Otterbourne is Hampshire 1 (Level 10) from 1999 to 2000 ... well Level 10 from their beginning to 2000 really ... I haven't looked at the others. I've added links for these two to FHCD. Nfitz (talk) 21:09, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I added a modified version of that table to Hampshire League. Nfitz (talk) 18:39, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Prod removals

I see you've removed a couple of prods, citing WP:FOOTYN. However, it isn't policy yet, and articles on players in the Conference continued to be deleted (like the Tommy Smith one you participated in). It may be a good idea to reinstate the prod and avoid wasting time with an AfD. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:20, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm afraid I think this is exactly what I think should go to AFD. It's not so much that they are Conference players, it's that that they are EPL players, loaned to the Conference, and now returned. Nfitz (talk) 13:46, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but they clearly fail WP:ATHLETE and will almost certainly be deleted (at least if the closing admin makes the right decision). No offence, but your constant !voting of keep on articles which fail to meet the criteria, as well as the bundling issue, really makes me think that you are on the verge of disrupting the project to make a WP:POINT. If you don't like the guidelines, try and change them (and AfDs isn't the place to do it). пﮟოьεԻ 57 21:15, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Also, could you explain why you are still !voting keep on those four clubs in the Hampshire League? пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
  • As far as the 4 clubs, the past AFDs use phrases like "never played above level 11" "never played at level 10 or higher", "never played above step 7". However these 4 clubs have played at level 10.
  • I don't think think the EPL players whose professional experience was in the Conference do fail WP:ATHLETE. I think we have to follow the spirit of a guideline. WP:ATHLETE confers notablity on Competitors who have competed in a fully professional league. But how fully is fully? And how do we apply this to every sport. In the absence of community-accepted detailed criteria for each sport, we need to be careful how to apply this. If we were to apply the letter of the guideline rigidly, we'd wipe out many, many articles (such as most of those listed in Category:Canadian lacrosse players - for while they are fully professional teams and a league, most NLL players have alternate sources of income. So we have to follow the spirit. In this case a fully-professional player has played for a fully-professional team, in a national league comprised mostly of fully-professional teams. Common sense dictates that under these circumstances the spirit of WP:ATHLETE has been met. This was established at Articles for deletion/Nikola Saric. How is a Conference player different from Danish League 1 (or whatever they call it)? What we really need to do is establish football-specific guidelines - which ironically he also passes when you read WP:FOOTYN, but I realise there isn't acceptance of these, which is why I'm only arguing that he meets WP:ATHLETE. Nfitz (talk) 23:02, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

If you're referring to Clanfield, the article is wrong - they were founded in 1983 as a youth team according to their website. пﮟოьεԻ 57 22:56, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

  • That would make more sense - though they've still played at Level 10. Nfitz (talk) 23:02, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but teams playing in the second division of county leagues in 1978 have also played at Level 10. I think its clear that we need to stick with Level 10 post-2004, rather than before it, or it really will open up a can of worms. пﮟოьεԻ 57 23:04, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I might be inclined to agree with you. I'm not sure I have a full understanding of how all the leagues were effected. Is Hampshire just messed up, or is the same issue evident nationwide? You'll note that I dropped the "Strong" ... Nfitz (talk) 23:07, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Moshav shitufi

Hi. Just wanted to notify you that User:Zlerman has created that article, which might come in handy to you. -- Nudve (talk) 12:35, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Dear Number57: I am so glad that someone has looked at my piece on Moshav shitufi. Writing it was not premeditated: I wrote it today on the spur of the moment because I felt there was a definite lack of clarity between moshav (i.e., moshav ovdim) and moshav shitufi -- which is a totally different brand of animal. I do not think we need a separate, new article on moshav ovdim. In Hebrew, when we say "moshav", we automatically mean "moshav ovdim", so perhaps the existing article moshav should be edited a little to stress that it deals with moshav ovdim and to differentiate more sharply between the two types of moshavim. Let me know what you think. And how come an English Wikipedian from Suffolk is interested in such abstruse Israeliana? Regards, --Zlerman (talk) 13:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
I will see what I can do with the existing moshav article, taking the Hebrew version and your suggestions into account. I will keep you posted on this. As to your Turkmenistan-oriented friend, you can refer him/her to my web site: there is a lot of interesting stuff on Turkmen agriculture there (in English and in Russian). List of moshavim

Hi again. You have piqued my curiosity, so now you will have to bear with me. I have looked at the list of moshavim in Moshav and I have also looked at the list in Category:Moshavim. There is some overlap, but the two lists are definitely different. What do you suggest we do? --Zlerman (talk) 14:08, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Puerto Rico Soccer League

Well the fact that Justin Myers is on loan to one of the teams in the league from the Puerto Rico Islanders a professional team sorta proves its a professional league. There players are paid and offered contracts, problem is that I dont have any formal paper work to prove this. In the league website it clearly states its a professional league [30] and the Puerto Rican Football Federation has acknowledge it as a pro league you can read that in this page [31] (Spanish) under a article named "Apoyo todal de la Federacion de Futbol a la PRSL", which translate to "Total support from the Football Federation for the PRSL". Theres also several other articles in that page, which is the official page of the Puerto Rican Football Federation, that clearly call the league a professional league and have some more info on the league, its all in spanish. --Automotivado (talk) 9:37pm, 11 July 2008 (AST) —Preceding comment was added at 01:38, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Registrar of Cooperative Associations, Israel

You probably know this site, but sending just in case: http://www.tamas.gov.il/NR/exeres/51952055-3974-4CFF-8349-56F170C41F6F.htm. Like many Israeli sites, it is only readable in IE! --Zlerman (talk) 03:30, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I have drawn up a list of all 40 moshavim shitufiim in Israel (from Registrar's site) and checked it against Category:Moshavim and List of moshavim in Moshav. Many moshavim shitufiim appear in the Category and do not appear in the List; many do not appear in either. If you are interested in my list (with the classification), I will be pleased to send it to you by e-mail. --Zlerman (talk) 04:32, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

    • Yes, this is what the "comments" column is for. All the moshavim in the list are registered as shitufiim with the Registrar (see the web site I sent you earlier today). However, the situation is highly dynamic, and even those that are formally registered as moshavim shitufiim may in fact operate like "communal settlements". We need to check and filter all this. --Zlerman (talk) 10:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Excuse me Mr. 57, but I am wondering if, as the administrator who speedied it from the mainspace, you think this version of the Salon Mazal article is sufficiently referenced and free from conflict of interest/promotional tone to return to the mainspace. Allegations of apartheid deletion notification

Some time ago, you participated in a deletion discussion concerning Allegations of Chinese apartheid. I thought you might like to know that the parent article, Allegations of apartheid, was recently nominated for deletion. Given that many of the issues that have been raised are essentially the same as those on the article on which you commented earlier, you may have a view on whether Allegations of apartheid should be kept or deleted. If you wish to contribute to the discussion, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Allegations of apartheid (fifth nomination). -- ChrisO (talk) 17:52, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Kfar Daniel

I am pondering the article on Kfar Daniel. First, the original name: I have a feeling that it was "Beit Hever", not "Beit Haver". Actually, it seems (from Central Bureau of Statistics lists of name changes) that the original name was "Irgun Beit Hever" (or "Irgun Beit Haver" -- the lists are without nikud), but we can deal with the "Irgun" prefix after we decide on "Hever" vs "Haver". As you know, "Hever" is "a community" or "a group of members" in modern Hebrew; but "Hever" is also a biblical name (somewhere in Judges, I think). So far, I have not seen on the web any properly sourced or authenticated history of this moshav shitufi. Any ideas how we tackle the business of "Hever" vs "Haver"?

The second point concerns the founders: the text says Mahalniks, and I think this is correct; but then comes the infobox and says "Hungarian immigrants". Any idea how the Hungarian immigrants came into this? I guess in the end I will have to drive to Kfar Daniel and take a picture of the Keren Kayemet info board that probably still stands at the entrance into the village. There seems to be a bit on inconsistancy. Most of your moves are to the XX, Israel, while at least one relegates the main article page to the moshav and moves the disambig page to dab (which I prefer). wassup? --Shuki (talk) 18:19, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Ádám Bogdan

Hi, there. According to his article he played in Vasas in the first division that could qualify as to ATHLETE or some such. Anyway the article I feel has enough legitimacy to go to Afd at least. It would be silly to have one red link while all other squad members have their article as clearly shown on the template. The article also had a legitimate source and such so I think it should stay. I just came by this article by coincidence but it seemed like an informative/intresting article that should be kept around for the benefit of, well the readers. Hobartimus (talk) 10:28, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi I did participate in Afds in the past and I will do so in the future as well however I did not use the quoted part in an Afd discussion and I thought you won't mind if I explain my thoughts a bit more. I don't have a big stake in the article I guess I'm just curios as to the benefit of deleting it. Do you have more reasons to wanting this article deleted other than rigid adherence to the ATHLETE guideline? However the fact that he didn't play mathces for Vasas is significant new information I wouldn't vote keep for example in light of this new info. I do consider the Premier League a big deal even if it's only squad membership but again that's just me not presenting an Afd argument, only using the talk page here. Hobartimus (talk) 14:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
First take a second to consider if the article and the lone source is a net benefit here or not and after you've done that and still want to delete you can consider as if I readded the prod. I also lifted the new message banner from the top of the page hope its ok :) Hobartimus (talk) 22:57, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Mizra

Hi. I've expanded this article, and I thought it might be eligible for DYK (I was thinking about the kosher part). What do you say? -- Nudve (talk) 18:30, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Whilst I understand that Wikipedia cannot list every football club in the country and that there should be criteria for their inclusion, I disagree with the removal of the article about newly-formed Scarborough Town FC. This item is of great interest to the inhabitants of Scarborough, where there has been no football team for over a year, and it is surely of interest to football fans in general.

Whether or not an article about Scarborough Town FC is allowed, it was in my opinion totally wrong to remove the mention of Scarborough Town FC from the article about the previous Scarborough FC. This article, as it stands, implies that Scarborough Athletic FC is the new incarnation of Scarborough FC. This is at least debatable, at most simply wrong.

The committee of Scarborough Town FC have worked hard over the past year to create a community club which will bring representative football back to the town, whereas Scarborough Athletic continnue to play 20 miles away in Bridlington. Scarborough Town FC is backed by a local sports college, one of whose trustees is Sheffield United FC. The Scarborough Town commmittee reads like a "who's who" of Scarborough football, and includes the former President of Scarborough FC, the former vice-president of Scarborough FC, two former associate directors of Scarborough FC, the former secretary of Scarborough FC, the chairman and treasurer of the Supporters Club of the former Scarborough FC, etc etc

We may have lost 128 years of football history when Scarborough FC went into liquidation, but please do not decry the efforts of those who seek to create a new club to take its place.

Puerto Rico Soccer League

I noticed your comment on Automotivado's talk page, the Puerto Rico Soccer League is indeed a fully professional league, being for the most part product of a fusion between a few other leagues. It was founded recently so perhaps it hasn't hit the international media yet, and probably won't until its teams begin playing in the CONCACAF. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

AfD of Kevin Reiman

I disagree with your closure of the AfD as delete. At best this was a keep, and at worst a no consensus close.

  • The discussion was tending towards no consensus, as no one from the delete side convinced anyone to change their minds.
  • The delete arguments were much weaker then the keeps, and in recent AfDs such as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/March 19, 2008 anti-war protest, you have even more delete !votes making a sounder policy argument (as opposed to a guideline argument in this AfD), with a no consensus close (14 !deletes to 5 !keeps).
  • Reiman made professional reappearances in the pre-season in order to achieve a spot on the active roster. That is borderline WP:ATHLETE, as is the Westchester Flames.
  • Although I did not mention it during the discussion, reason the discussion was reopened was to "allow members of WP:Football" to comment, which seems contrary to the idea that AfD is supposed to be representative of Wikipedia as a whole.
  • The idea that Reiman did not meet WP:BIO because The Journal News is a local paper is also flawed, because it is not a local paper. Also, google news turns up plenty more articles detailing his college exploits.

I would ask that you reconsider your deletion as this was more of a consensus situation. MrPrada (talk) 23:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

VSL and other related articles

Excuse me. "Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/company/etc." I hadn't finished writing these pages yet and you assume that they are not important or significant? These pages are extremely important and significant. If you had let me finish the pages it would've been relevant. I see you haven't deleted the Andorran Football League pages, so why delete the VSL's? ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 12:54, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

It's all coming back like a déjà vu! No, seriously... VSL actually stands for "V" Superstar League as if to say it is the Fifth version of it. ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 13:56, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
That's the original logo, because at first it was until the teams all decided to play real games against each other, which is why there are lots of nationalities in the squads. ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 14:22, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
So please can you restore the pages so they can be completed? ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 11:21, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
So the league that is so important to many people isn't going to be allowed on Wikipedia? Isn't Wikipedia an encyclopaedia? If so, then surely the VSL should be in the encyclopaedia? It is important to many people, and just because I hadn't finished the pages telling you all about the VSL, it's formation and the clubs in it, it gets deleted for being "not-important" ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 11:30, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Moshav movement or Moshavim movement?

I am adding a column with affiliations to our List of moshavim shitufiim. There is no page for either Moshav movement or Moshavim movement, but both are used interchangeably in the affiliation rubric of the moshav infotable (where appropriate, of course). Please make a decision for the future: there are arguments in favor of either version, but let's home on a consistent formula. --Zlerman (talk) 06:57, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Shavei Tzion etc.

Shavei Tzion redirects to Return to Zion, and there is no page for Shavei Tzion (moshav). I have cut some of the more obvious links to Shavei Tzion in the moshavim context, but I guess now we have to write Shavei Tzion (moshav) or Shavei Tzion, Israel. There is a little piece in he:Wikipedia שבי ציון that can be used to boilerplate an English article. Will you do it, or would you like me to have a go? --Zlerman (talk) 08:17, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:FOOTY discussion

Hi 57, not to sound annoying or anything, but I've recently started a discussion regarding the names of Brazilian clubs on wikipedia (here) and considering the scale and importance of the clubs involved and the fact that there is no formal move request, I thought it might be a good idea to inform some of the regular WP:FOOTY contributors in order to get a consensus and not just a few opinions. So if you could take a second to express your opinion, it would be appreciated, cheers. BanRay 22:18, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. On an unrelated note, could you please review and delete this image. There is an identical copy on commons, so I've tagged this one for deletion a few days ago. I'd like to improve the quality of the image, but can't do anything with it until it's present both here and on commons, since the commons one has to be an exact copy of the original one in order to get it deleted through csd, cheers! New Meadow

We most certainly do. What about Emirates Stadium? The STFC stadium has only ever been named Prostar Stadium. Anything else is totally unofficial. Had the stadium been renamed, I would agree with you, but it will only get renamed in 4 years' time.  slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 16:19, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

See also: Liberty Stadium.  slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 16:24, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Are you sure? Look at Shrewsbury programmes or tickets to see what the stadium name has been over the past year. What does the sign say at the gate? On the stadium walls? No stadium name to be found. It gets called the New Meadow, the New Stadium, Oteley Road Stadium, the New Shrewsbury Town Stadium, the New Gay Meadow etc. because it didn't have a name. Until last night.
If you want to claim that other stadia had established names before their sponsorship, think of:
  • Arsenal's stadium, known as Ashburton Grove for several years before 2006.
  • Swansea had the New Stadium moniker for nearly three months before their sponsorship deal was confirmed.
But forget about other examples. I agree with the precedent/policy that you quote, but clearly it does not apply to STFC.
Your argument is that Shrewsbury's stadium had an established name, when it clearly has not. Read this for a clue:
The new Shrewsbury Town stadium has been named The Prostar Stadium, after over a year without a title.
I'm disappointed by your stance, particularly as myself and the natives of Shropshire have patiently waited for a name for their stadium, only to be delivered a less than great name. People are already mocking it, calling it the Pornstar Stadium! I hope you reconsider, as I am adamant that Prostar Stadium, no matter how bad it is, is the only name the stadium has had.

Re: Regional council maps

Mapping all the regional councils could prove rather difficult, depending on your experience with making maps. However, there is an interactive service which has all the borders you're looking for, located here. You need to download an ActiveX control, and it only works on Internet Explorer-based browsers. Hope this is what you're looking for. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 22:50, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

I'd be willing to make a series of such maps (probably have made more maps than anyone on the project, not to mention that more experienced mapmakers on Wikipedia probably don't speak Hebrew and would have trouble using the link I provided), but as I said, it would take a ton of time, and it's just not one of my top priorities at the moment. However, I have noted it as a 'to do' and will try to start with the Center District sometime soon. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 08:40, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
On a side note, would you like to help me with something? I'm trying to bring up the article Arad, Israel to A-class or FA-class if possible, and have fixed all the problems from the last peer review except the short lead. It needs 3 full paragraphs and I just don't know what to put there. Could you help me with that? Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 09:13, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't translate Mif'alot Afek. The word mif'alot means deeds, similar to pe'ulot, but it's an archaic Psalms word (I dare not say Biblical, because King David seems to have invented hundreds of words). On the other hand, I'd translate the regional council to Northern Sharon Regional Council, per WP:ENGLISH.
By the way, I'm looking for a Wikipedia policy which discourages putting loosely related information in articles when the information already exists in more relevant articles. Do you know one?
Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 17:26, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Zerahia - yes, it should be removed. Zevulun - not sure, it's really a borderline case, and I think more of an issue of WP:COMMONNAME because he was a Biblical figure and I'm sure a lot of things were named for him. Maybe other editors should be consulted, because we're dealing with many articles and transliterations of the name (many modern-Israel-related articles mention the word Zevulun/Zvulun in various ways, also people like Zvulun Orlev). -- Ynhockey (Talk) 17:40, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Cheers on creating the Zrahia article, I have an army friend from there. In any case, something that really bothers me is the current spelling of Kiryat Mal'akhi. It should be Kiryat Mal'akhi according to WP:HE, also Mal'akhi implies the more correct pronunciation. Not sure what the common name is. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 17:53, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Frustrated?

I noticed your edit history comment over at Péter Gulácsi...honestly, I feel for you, but the PROD process is supposed to be for completely uncontested deletions. If people aren't allowed to contest prods, even as an IP, it compromises the system. It really does no good to re-add the prod...prod patrollers will catch it on this list, any good admin would notice it and not delete the article, and even if it is deleted, one post at WP:DRV brings it right back. It's always better to bring these to AFD...I like to think of it as putting a nail in the coffin, myself...a page that's deleted by XFD is much harder to bring back. I'll do this one for you. --UsaSatsui (talk) 07:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

A.F.C. Norwich

I've removed the PROD, because under their former name (Norwich Union F.C.) they did play in the F.A. Vase for two seasons in the late 70s. I have added this information to the stub of an article. They have however never played at the equivalent of today's Step 6 or above, so in my eyes are still a possible candidate for AfD. - fchd (talk) 06:59, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
