Yeah I read WP:BIO parts of it look to me like he shouldn't have an article about him. For example, "(who meet the general criteria of secondary sources published about them)" and Footbal-lineups.com is not a reliable secondary source. The clubs notable but he's not so remarkable. At least nothings been done to the article to SHOW that he is i.e. by properly referencing the guy. Inline citations would look good now wouldn't they. Or is it just because he's a footballer? To say my nom was one of the worst you've seen shows a bit of bias I reckon? I am taking that as an insult to my integrity. I'm definitely no expert here on Wikipedia, but to see so many articles on Footballers, and average ones at that too! Seems rather odd to me? Fair enough if an athlete plays for their country or in a world cup or even Olympic games or breaks a world record. Now that I can understand! Now that (supplying references) actually makes sense. That's what the article needs. Without the references he doesn't survive WP:BIO and I did read it. But the article writer is the expert in that area. Not me. He can provide the references. I'll give him till tomorrow. If the references are not supplied it goes to WP:AfD. Cheers for your support of the Rodrigo Díaz article, I can't believe that anyone would make such a concerted effort to bin it, there are dozens of footballers on wikipedia with no appearances at all and this guy has nearly 200 in top flight football in two of the best leagues outside Europe. As for the "dreaded threat" of more Independiente players, I doubt it, I made articles for all the squad players to feature in at least half of their games this season, the others would survive AfD under current notability criteria, but they aren't key players, so I'll not be creating articles for them until next season at least, and then only if they play a bigger part in the first team. I may eventually go back over the Independiente players adding extra sources, but I'm a bit busy creating pages for all of the regular first teamers in the other Argentine Primera squads and the dreaded transfer window is looming ominously. Estonian league players

As a reply to your comment. I think attendance numbers have more to do with the popularity of sport in the country and hardly reflect the quality of the game. And although I agree that players from not fully professional leagues should not have an article on the english wikipedia (unless they've earned their notability by playing for their nt or through some other way), I don't think drawing parallels with the Sammarenese premier league, or whatever it's called over there, or the 9th level of the English football league is a good comparison. Look at Levadia for example, they knocked out Finnish Haka and Dutch Twente and went on to play two very good games against Newcastle in the first round of the UEFA Cup last year. This year they came very close to securing a tie with Glasgow Rangers for a place in the Champions League, but, unfortunately, were knocked out on away goals. I'd compare the top Estonian sides with Finnish clubs, although the average level of Veikkausliiga is, of course, higher since it's a fully-pro league and there's no gap between pro and amateur clubs there. So what I'm trying to say, is that having articles about some of the players from the Estonian League is not bad, as long as they are notable, however, that's not the case with the players I nominated. What is an acceptable article about a business

We have gone through considerable lengths to create a Wikipedia entry that matches the quality and informative nature the many other businesses that are listed at Wikipedia. On the Website Builder page, there are three of our competitors, the article that was submitted was not much different then those that were accepted. Now after three attempts, it still gets deleted. There was no outbound link to iBuilt.net and the article was not written by me or a friend. The two most recent entries are not blatant advertising, they are a historical overview of iBuilt.net.

Israeli political parties

Hi,

First of all I'd like to compliment you on your monumental work on the Israeli political parties articles, as you may have noticed It has assisted me in the creation some of the parallel articles on the Hebrew Wikipedia. I'd like to ask you about a particular sentence that I've failed to understand from the article Hebrew Communists, your help would be much appreciated. you wrote: "the party returned to life during the first Knesset when several of Maki's leaders were purged soon after the elections in 1949. Amongst the purged was Knesset member Eliezer Preminger." what kind of purge exactly were you referring to?

Also, do you have some kind of online source that lists the parties that failed to cross the electoral threshold (of the various elections), and a source that specify which party was a member of which coalition? that information is very difficult to come by. South Side Mission deletion

I would like to have the deletion of South Side Mission reversed, please.

South Side Mission is the oldest rescue ministry on the city of Peoria, IL, and serves over 10,000 people at or below the poverty line in our community each year. We are also the frequent topic of research papers written by students of private and public institutions, from jr. high students to Bradley University, to SIU (Edwardsville).

I do appreciate that though it was founded the same year as Caterpillar, Inc., the world impact is somewhat less impressive. But, I must point out that the fabric of the community of Peoria would look very different with no one to care for the less fortunate.

Many of the most notable companies and people of Peoria support or received support from South Side Mission, including Maui Jim, Caterpillar, Inc., Shaun Livingston, and Mayor Murray Baker.

I posted this article for the benefit of those looking for the complete picture of the history of our community, instead of only the tourist information, and I believe it deserves consideration.

Hi, I've noticed that you formatted some of the Israel-related navigation boxes. Perhaps you could help me create some boxes like that, as I don't have infinite time to do it unfortunately. Right now I'm thinking about the Israeli ambassadors to the US/UN, also commanders of the Israeli Air Force, as well as other high-ranking posts which don't have navigation templates yet (preferrably only those for whom most articles are created and not red links). re: Template:Afghan elections

Agreed by who? A few users who really don't know much on this subject. All scholarly sources say that Afghan=Pashtun. Since there had to be a discussion in the first place, clearly the term is controversial and we should not take sides and be neutral. Also, several dictionaries use other terms such as Afghanistani. Why isn't that used instead since Afghan clearly has too much ambiguity?

Afghan, as a misnomer, might be more common but it is not as correct. Regardless, I'm not changing it back to Afghanistani. I have taken the neutral stance and given it a neutral name. Deletion of relevant articles concerning the wikiproject on Irish football!!

Do you not realise that you have deleted articles that are regarded as important to the wikiproject on Irish Football? The project maintains that there should be articles created on all notable competitions, clubs, players etc. in Ireland. These articles are regarded as extremely important within the project and being a long serving contributor to the project, I would not litter the Irish football scene with rubbish articles. I understand what you're saying, but, my argument is that both articles, by their very definition are notable and are considered important to the WikiProject for Irish football. There are a large number of 'non notable' non-league amateur English teams in Wikipedia, why are Irish ones considered to not meet the requirements, if English ones do. However, the point is, the articles are within the scope of the Wikiproject for Irish Football and deserve at least a deletion review. Thank you. Ryannus (talk) 21:36, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

We could get into a huge debate about the notability of a club being relevant to the standard of the football in certain countries. You said that they shouldn't have articles, having not played in fully professional leagues? I would hardly say that all those Non-League English clubs with Wikipedia articles are fully professional. The Derry and District League is about 4 levels below the top League in Northern Ireland, and the Ulster Senior League in the Republic of Ireland is a mere two levels behind the top league in ROI. These teams are as relevant to Irish football as all those non league amateur teams are to English football. Conor Mullan, however has had numerous trials with the likes of Limavady United F.C., Institute F.C., (appearing in friendlies) and Manchester United F.C. He is the relative of Gerry Mullan and son of the legendary Lawrence Mullan.

Overall, I'd like to say that the whole footballing spectrum on Wikipedia needs either a huge clean up, or a better tolerance of Irish Football, which, despite Wales being bigger, as you say, has experienced a higher degree of success on the European stage. As far as the remedy provisions go, yes; you're perfectly free to offer your services to the disputing parties, but we're looking to minimize complaints of involvement as far as the "big stick" aspect of things is concerned.

(In the long term, I'm hopeful that the working group remedy—assuming it passes—will lead to a better system for resolving disputes on these articles; but the Committee's workload means that we're unfortunately trapped in the position of applying a mallet rather than a scalpel, at this point.) Kiribati/I-Kiribati/Kiribatian

Why do you think Kiribatian is a better choice than I-Kiribati (Or even just Kiribati)? I have never seen "Kiribatian" written in print or any other medium in my research of Kiribati; normally I see Gilbertese or I-Kiribati (pronounced "e-kee-ree-bass") used. I'm not even sure how Kiribatian would be pronounced. Kee-ree-bass'in? I understand wanting to use the English demonym but this one doesn't make sense to me. --Henry W. On that issue, please see here. I've got several books about Kiribati, I've checked them, and they all use "I-Kiribati". That includes both those written by Western scholars and those written by I-Kiribati authors themselves. There is consensus on this point. Everybody uses "I-Kiribati"; nobody uses "Kiribatian". I have now agreed to provide the proof, subject only that it not be deleted. We've had dedicated, abusive sock-puppetry from partisans on this topic before, they weren't forced to confess and the evidence was deleted. Today I discover even the sock-masters account in that case has been deleted (very prematurely, since it was active not long ago). The evidence in this case mustn't be treated the same way. His latest sockpuppet, based upon his edits and timing, is AmericanAnthropologist01, contribs, as may be seen by his edits to Afghan Canadian and Hazara people. Yeah I confess its me. I was banned for a really... really... bad reason: for "edit warring" with user: NisarKand's sock user: DreamOfJeanie and for reporting an Admin's friend for sockpuppetry (he labeled it as "proxying"). I'm not going to accept my ban until someone investigates it.

By the way, this account right now is from one of the top Universities in the world (this is the first time I'm using Wiki from the unversity libraries). Alot of smart people from here edit Wikipedia. If you block this account of mine you'll block my entire university... (just check my IP to confirm it). Hi. Just after AmericanAnthropologist01 was blocked, a new account appeared: StevenLeClark, who has reverted Afghan Canadian back to the version by AmericanAnthropologist01 [6]. He has also made the same changes to Template:History of Afghanistan [7] as the previous sock account, User:AbbasPeretz [8].

It seems logical that "Afghanistani" should redirect to "Afghanistan", but Beh-nam absolutely wants a link to Demography of Afghanistan, where he's dumped all his POV theories. Indonesian Elections

There weren't really any elections to speak of in the colonial period. The Dutch did establish a People's Council (Volksraad) in 1918 with 10 of the 19 elected members being Indonesians. However they were elected by unelected local councils. Although the body grew steadily until 1939, it only had an advisory role, and the Dutch kept it on a tight leash. Incidentally there were local elections in many areas of Indonesia in 1957, but they are known as the "lost elections" as detailed results are impossible to obtain. The strong showing of the Communists caused a degree of panic at the time, which contributed to the postponement and then cancellation of the 1959 election. A big concern

Hello Number 57. I have a complain to make and since i am new in so called "Wikipedia World" More often this Wikipedia has been banned as a source by many Afghan communities for example in many of our meetings in regards to culture and history open discussions wikipedia has been given a bad name for being "Anti-Afghan". I am myself a member of ASAC "Afghan Student Association of Canada" where an issue of "bad" wikipedia has been rise. For you may not be aware of what i am talking about unless you kindly take your time and review some of the stuff. I don't know who is the Admin but it seems i found you and your contribution in vast areas of many topics. I thought maybe you can help us, OR to get us in contact with someone who can help us increase knowledge of Wikipedia. Or at least someone who can delete false and wrong/racist personal comments of contributers from wikipedia. Just to let you know without being Racist large number of Iranians or who-ever hates people of Afghanistan have been working in wikipedia as their full time job in fact i think they work over-time for about 18 Hour per day. Anyways my point is that them haters post nothing but foolish stuff which makes no sense. Although wikipedia has been given bad names for the past but there are some numbers who does believe in wikipedia and therefore there is a chance to safe its name from Afghans criticizing.

Please take your time, and review many Afghan related topics where you know wrong or false info has been provided. Wikipedia where haters makeup all sorts of stuff it must be controlled. An Afghan hater Anoshirawan, To name few who have been creating many user names and delete the true information and add up their own personal stuff, like Afghanistani, which has never been heard, saying Afghanistani source same as saying Americani, We all know nationality of Afghanistan's people regardless of their ethnicity are referred to as Afghan not Afghanistani or some other ethnic given name, so be fare and please review their other self created falsehood where they add everything and every famous known Afghan either singer, or politician are relating with Iran or Tajik (Turkic Persi speakers of Central Asia).

Thanks Number 57, i really appreciate your efforts to bring about a NPOV article that tells both and not just one side of the story - i think you did a great job with trying to come up with a compromise version. My only (small) concern is that there is mention of the biblical references twice, first at the end of the opening paragraph it states 'Gilo was named after a biblical Judean town whose name was preserved by the neighboring Bethlehem suburb of Beit Jala.' then later down the article it reads again 'The biblical town of Gilo is mentioned in the Book of Joshua (Joshua 15:51) and the Book of Samuel (II Sam 15:12) as a town in the Judean hills.[5]' Now personally I think the first one is less ambiguous and is clear in what it is trying to get at - do we really need both? What do you think about combining them? Something like.. 'Gilo was named after a biblical Judean town, mentioned in Joshua 15:51 and II Sam 15:12, whose name was preserved by the neighboring Bethlehem suburb of Beit Jala.' ? Andy Iro

While he has not yet played in the MLS (since the season hasn't started), he has featured for the San Fernando Valley Quakes of the PDL. Taken from their website, it says "and UCSB defender and one-time Quakes prospect Andy Iro was drafted sixth overall by Columbus Crew". Besides, it is only a matter of time before he breaks into the Columbus Crew side, say 1 game. Might as well leave it up, I think. It would take much more work to take it down and put it up again instead of just leaving it.

From what I thought I understood, while the USL is a fully professional league, it is not the highest level they could be playing at. That would obviously be the MLS. Can of worms

So, Deletion review is getting clogged up with deleted footballers, I should have thought of that as a probable consequence of attempting to redefine the criteria away from being just an ad hoc collection of rules by precedent into simple unambiguous criteria by consensus. Nobody seems to be interested in defining any other specific criteria for leagues, clubs etc, many are too busy with their conference players and England under-16 players. I don't really like giving things up but it all feels like a bit of a wasted effort at the moment. Oh and I abdicated in case you didn't notice. Regards English peasant 02:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Great Cornard

Hi. The reason I put two references for the population of Great Cornard is that the village is split into 2 wards, North and South. Deletion of club transfers

Can you shed a little more light on the recent WP:FOOTY consensus regarding the deletion of off-season transfers on club pages? You referenced it generally and in passing in your edit summary on DC United and other pages following your deletions but I'm having trouble tracking down the precise policy or the consensus that led to it. I am probably not looking in the right places (though the "Club Manual of Style" and accompanying discussion would seem to be the logical residence). Thanks for the reply and the link. I have to say, though, that the consensus did not seem altogether clear-cut regarding clubs that lack season-by-season pages, like DC United. The information on the DC United page was pretty useful (particularly given an off-season with a lot of activity, like they just had), and well-maintained to boot. DC United is not that big or important a club in the scheme of things, and as passionate as its fans are, that is largely by comparison to other MLS clubs. I doubt that anyone has the energy to create season-by-season pages with the transfer information, meaning that the information is really simply lost, and the page that much the weaker for it. (I would go on to add that, unlike Premiership clubs, MLS news is really not covered in great detail by the media, nor reliably consolidated in any particular place. For that reason a Wikipedia page a much more important source for that kind of information than it likely is for "real" football teams.) Thoughts? JohnInDC (talk) 15:04, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi, you know those criteria we worked so hard to define? Do you think we should take them to WP:BIO and ask for them to be formally accepted there, since they are formed by consensus and resolve a few of the endlessly recurring AfD debate problems like the "Anderlecht question" or do you think a better course of action would be to work on the other less controversial areas of notability like clubs, leagues and stadiums to give ourselves an "Armoury" of clear football guidelines rather than notability criteria relating only to football players before we raise it. Hello! I have noticed you were "delinking deleted articles" in 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. I wanted to point out that all goalscorers there are linked, even if the players' articles do not exist. I reverted your first edit, but then you delinked another player, so I figured you are probably using a non-standard way of doing that (AWB?). Nice mathematical work there! As WP:TRUTH is not a policy goal, we might simply juxtapose his statements against those of others, letting them contrast against one another per WP:ATT or WP:NPOV. Given though that he is not necessarily an expert source and going into this kind of specificity might lead to WP:UNDUE in this particular article, we might simply remove his statement and replace it with a better source, like the one you have provided. Hey there #57, I usually don't edit weekends, so I apologize for the delay. I'm online for only a few rare Sunday evening moments and will answer your question. (I'll be back online in the morning (I'm in the US). You asked on my talk page to explain why I made this decision. Thanks for your interest in my decision. Quite simply, I closed it as keep because the discussion at hand (in that RfA) was to keep the article. There were an equal number of !votes for keeping and deleting, that is true, but the keep !votes, IMHO, outweighed the deletes. First, your nom was a good faith nom and counted as a delete. The second "delete" was a weak delete which didn't factor in my decision. The third, fourth and fifth argued the same points, 2 of them only saying per nom. Following that, there were three keeps that, again IMO, were strong. They noted his playing with a professional team (regardless of pre-season/whatever). The last keep !vote provided links/sources. The keeps appear to outweigh the deletes.
I did not look at a single other AfD for a single other player, and the fact that one was deleted previously for a different player has no bearing on the discussion at hand, as it could just have easily been kept based on participation at the AfD on any given 5 day period. At the very worst, I would have closed this as no consensus, which of course as you know would have defaulted to keep anyway. So you have two options here really.
1. If you strongly disagree with my closing of the debate based on the rationales given and the !voters present, you can bring it to deletiion review. Or,
2. You can wait a month or two and if the player misses the roster, or if the article in that time still does not meet your standards, you can renominate the article.

I have read article A7 and I think it highly unfair have you deleted my page!

Perhaps the club it is not important or significant to you, but I have spent 6 years of my life playing twice a week and spending endless hours travelling/training/fundraising. Hundreds of others have parted with equal amounts of time and effort in thier service to the club amd thier efforts deserve recognition! Not only that, but I feel that it deserves it's inclusion as it would provide a useful service for young undergraduates about to start at University to know that the club they may wish to participate in has a wide range of Footballing and social activities, and most importantly a strong grounding in football history (see United Hospitals' Challenge Cup entry - unless you want to delete that one too!!!!!!!!!)

As the page was only just created last week I have't yet learned all ins and outs of formatting, but i thought it was a bloody good go for a first time!!!!!

Hebrew transliterations

Hi, please make sure to double-check before changing Hebrew transliterations in articles. I've seen you do this in many articles - the latest case is Yedioth Ahronoth, where you replaced yedi`ot aḥaronot (a correct but awkward transliteration, and you were right to change it) to Yediot Akhranot, which is far from the correct Yedi'ot Aharonot or Ydi'ot Aharonot (יְדִיעוֹת אַחֲרוֹנוֹת‎). Actually the title is not a correct transliteration. Usually transliterations are added in italics after the local language script (this is standard on Wikipedia). Moreover, translation guides should only be written in IPA. I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that het sounds like khaf (I'm assuming that's what you meant). Generally relying on how most Israelis talk is not a good idea to get the correct transliteration for anything. It's true that general near-universal trends should be respected (for example, I don't oppose using the uvular trill for resh, even though it's not correct), but Israelis often completely mispronounce simple Hebrew words, especially as far as accents are concerned. We should try to use the correct versions on Wikipedia, instead of what we hear on the Israeli streets. Het is pronounced correctly not only by Yemenites, but also by a sizable portion of Mizrahi Jews in Israel (and Israeli Arabs for that matter). Moshavot

Hi, I think you got it wrong with moshavot. First of all, there's no 'former Moshavot', as it is very hard to define when a Moshava turns into a city, or in fact to define what exactly is considered a Moshava. Dougman68 got it right - Moshavah is any Jewsish settlement or neighbourhood, originally agricultural, while you changed it to say that a Moshava is an agricultural settlement - this is very different. Actually Moshava in Hebrew means colony/settlement and refers to any settlement which was not intended from the start as any of the other forms (kibbutz, moshav, communal settlement, etc.) Planned cities are also not considered Moshavot. However, it is wrong to create such a category, and I think you should rewrite the article Moshava, which is now completely incorrect. Actually I don't think this category should exist at all. Even the Hebrew version clarifies that the category is only meant for 'Moshavot as an early Zionist form of settlement', which is an inherently OR categorization. Emanics page

If possible, could you explain what was wrong with the "Emanics" page that we've created yesterday and that you've removed? The page has been entered by the Emanics project leader and by me (research leader). For the text we've used existing text from the Emanics.org website (which is ours).

MLS

As long as every piece of information currently existing in both the MLS and general infoboxes is included in the new one with spelling/terminology variations available when necessary, I support the change. I think we should be able to include things like biggest win/loss and first game if that information is available. I think we also need to develop consensus on how to display honors, if at all in the infobox. Sorry for pulling out before, I just got frustrated by how seemingly useless the changes are. I misunderstood the need for the change to a standard template. I realize now that its so things can be changed universally, but the superficial look to the info can be customized. You've really done a lot of good work trying to build consensus and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Sorry if I've been a pain in the ass. It just gets really frustrating being an American trying to participate in the football discussions, because everyone is dismissive and patronizing. I think that's why we are protective of the American soccer articles, because generally only Americans care enough to edit them. We're not used to dealing with "outsiders" for lack of a better term, showing up and messing with our stuff. Hi Number57, I have no idea if the Ykkönen (the league of Atlantis FC) is fully professional or not, but I know that some editors deem it not to be, see the Lauri Dalla Valle AfD - Dalla Valle looked to have played with JIPPO in that league but was still deleted. I also didn't realise that the article was previously proposed for deletion. Personally I view Orrström as notable, which is why I created the article, but if you and others disagree, and the article is redeleted, then so be it, and I apolgise for having had to have wasted your time. I withdrew the complaint for the time as I noticed that John who I had asked to look at the issue left a message (see above) on your talk page. Whatever the reasons for your moves it does not make any sense and you seem unwilling to discuss the matter OR to look at what the things are actually called. If you were not an admin you would not have been able to move the Gibraltar Referendum to Gibraltarian referendum so its a missuse of your status. Can I suggest you read the article and look at the picture of the notices.

I really don't know why you are so insistent on this when its illogical - the sources all say GIBRALTAR not GIBRALTARIAN.

MLS stuff

My initial reaction was to say I trust your best judgement, however, take a look at Template:Cleveland Indians. My issue is this: Does every team have their own template for that box? Like is there anything that allows changes to be made to every one like the infobox at the top of the article. Unless there is, I see no reason to standardize, especially because of the major NA sports franchise issue, and the lack of an ability to make standardized changes being a non issue. That was the only thing that got me to agree to the changes to the standard infobox.

As for the edit you were talking about, John Oliver did a bit in a special that debuted that night about Wikipedia and said that that change should be made to the George W. Bush article, so I made it. -- Grant.Alpaugh 12:23, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

As of right now I wouldn't support changing anything. Maybe changing the order of the boxes so that the wide ones are all on the bottom with the narrow ones being on the top would help create a more appealing visual look, but as for the content and whatnot I think we need to keep in line with both standards. Erekat article stuck on the wrong version

As you may have noticed if you've looked at the talk page on Erekat, I have been the other editor most active recently (with about ten others at various times before me) in trying to limit the material on the Jenin "controversy" to a reasonable volume so that there is a modicum of balance to the page overall. It has never been a significant issue in any mainstream profile of Erekat I've ever seen, and there has never been an explanation as to why it deserves so much prominence or detail here. This is the second time Jaakobou has headed off somewhere looking for help, talking about the "wrong" version and simply demanding the return of "his" version, while giving the impression he is looking for compromise, or a solution to conflict. See here for example, where he employed the same tactic and also - as here - failed to notify me that he was seeking input of this sort into the debate. Anyway, that ramble aside, I'm happy for someone else to pitch in of course, and accept, as I did in the MedCab case, that changes can be made and more material added to the current version. But it really shouldn't go back to the bloated (and as it happens badly written) section that was there before, replete with unecessary sources and footnotes, and reliant as it was on partisan op-eds for its insinuation that Erekat is a liar or deliberately made stuff up; and I would like to be kept in the loop on any discussions, in case I miss them. Template:National elections

Hi there. About you reverting my changes—I didn't mess up the headings, I merely removed the specific colour so that it would revert to the automatic colour of Template:Navbox generic, per WP:NAV. Also, there was a consensus; on the talk page, it was agreed to standardise with Navbox generic, and the colour of the headings is part of that. If we want the template to be standard and not stick out like a sore thumb, the colour should match the majority of Wikipedia's templates. I don't see any reason to have the headings be an arbitrarily different colour. Mr. Absurd (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, you're right. That's because of the way that the template is set up... it uses the "evenstyle" parameter instead of actual headers. To make it work you'd have to change the 'evenstyle' background to '#CACCFF'. Mr. Absurd (talk) 22:47, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Macedonian Prva Liga

The Macedonian football league is called Prva Liga. As the Israeli league article is named Ligat ha'Al, the Croatian is named Prva HNL etc. on Israeli and Croatian language, I moved the Macedonian Premier League to Macedonian Prva Liga as it is on Macedonian language. However, somebody is moving the article to First League of the Republic of Macedonia and he even accused me for vandalism and block from editing. There is nothing wrong with their voting the same way, they share similar interests and this was a widely viewed RfA. My own political point of view is no secret either, and in various articles I will find my views often coinciding with theirs. My point here is, however, an indication that I do make up my own mind, and when I feel something is in the best interests of the project, I am not swayed by peer- or group pressure, but opine in a way that I think is best for the wikipedia project. Hi, previously you had warn this person to quit vandalism or something but it is still vandalizing pages [11] that others worked so hard on adding infoboxes and lots of new helful data. Anoshirawan's latest edits are all vandalism, he or she is removing and falsifying information in articles. Also, he or she is a sockpuppet of Tajik and I can prove this. Both Anoshirawan and Tajik live in the same city in Germany if you can check the IP, and both are involved in editing the same articles, with exactly the same POVs in mind on everything. I'd appreciate your input about W-D-L or W-L-T standings in US soccer articles. I'm on the other side of this issue, because we're not dealing with content, we're dealing with style. After we reached consensus to keep the MLS unique content in the infoboxes we deferred to the international order of things (i.e. kit templates at the bottom of the boxes, etc.), so I think we should defer to the international standard for tables as well. HI, please review the Conor Hourihane page you have put up for deletion, he has played in a nationally recognised Cup competition for a professional organisation which is listed on their website[25] and represented his country in a Internationally recognised Championship competition which is also listed on their website[26]

The reason states he 'has never played in a fully professional league' yet if you read the rule you have put the article up for deletion because of WP:BIO#Athletes, it states that "Exceptions to this would be players in professional developmental leagues, such as minor league baseball."

Does the fact he is signed to professional club playing in the Under 18 Premier league, the FA Youth cup and the UEFA under 17 Championship all of which are under the sanctioning of Professional sporting bodies not warrant an exception?

It states that are not professional athletes. Eastbourne Borough F.C. is not yet a professional football club, also not all information about these people has been publicised just yet. Some users are renaming the Rep. of Macedonia to FYR Macedonia in the Top level football leagues of Europe; 2007-08 in European Football; 2008-09 in European Football templates. Please consider that this is official name of the domestic league not UEFA. If I'm correct please revert this edits. About the Starnet deletion. They just got bought out by IAC the owners of Ask.com, Match.com etc... Multi-state

That's an interesting solution. However, a couple of things should be noted. Though Kurds exist in Syria, Iran, Iraq and Turkey, only in the latter two countries have they any major separatist movements.

Also, I haven't seen the Druze enter into a conflict with either Muslims (Sunnis and Druze form the pro-Western coalition in Lebanon) or Jews (Druze serve alongside Jews in the Israeli military).

As for the Assyrians, their state would be far too small to be independent,[27] and would like be an autonomous region in an independent country.

Hey, what would you say to Middle Eastern federation of states (much like the European Union) that could unite the peoples of the Middle East, instead of dividing them?

Deletion of David Dodd

It's not necessary to delete this article. Despite the fact that he hasn't yet played a game for Queensland Roar he has definately played senior team games for his previous clubs. And there's a very good chance he'll play a senior game for Roar when the season starts, which means all the work already done for his page will have to be redone. Besides, all players signed to an A-League club have their own page regardless of how many games they're played, due to the fact that because of the small playing roster of the A-League there's a very high chance they'll play at least one game in the upcoming season. He played for the Palm Beach Sharks in the Brisbane Premier League. This was before the Queensland State League, which was only introduced this year, so the BPL was the highest form of competition for footballers in the state of Queensland until this year. As far as I know, it is a fully professional league.

Vandalism

I want to report that User:157.228.x.x does not edit on a neutral point of view. I guess he is a Greek and the only thing he does is changing Republic of Macedonia to FYROM in every possible article. Bustan al-Marj towns

Thanks for creating the articles on Bustan al-Marj Regional Council's towns. I expanded ed Dahi somewhat. I was going to add some info on Kafr Misr, but it contradicted what the article already said. In the article it says Kafr Misr was founded by the Zoabi family of Ramtha, however the municipal site says "Some have lived in the area for hundreds and even thousands of years, others came to the village from Egypt in the beginning of the 19th century when the Egyptians captured the area for a while." and "In historical maps from 1799, the village was called "Mavela" which means beauty. The Crusaders called it "Kaphar Mazre" and, due to its unique fertile area and water supply, it became an agriculture center. Ancient locations in the village show the centrality of its role over years. It is located at a valley between two major mountains in the region: Mr. Dahei and Mt. Tabor."

Question about Real Salt Lake player Tino Nunez. Obviously he does not have a profile as of yet, however it appears he has made 2 appearances for the club. These were in the US Open Cup, which I believe is equivalent to the FA Cup. The notability criteria (#2) states:

Have played in a competitive fixture between two "FPNL clubs" (in the FA Cup or League Cup, non-English equivalent, Continental or Intercontinental club competition).

Would this qualify? Proof of his appearances are as follows:

• RSL rolls to victory in play-in game
• RSL ousted from U.S. Open Cup

Please let me know if this is good.

About relegation issue, if you write the teams relegated on the season then you need to write it on every season page.. same with the champion box, my thought from the beginning is that the season pages stay with the same structure.

Thanks for your diligent work, however I'd like to ask you to remove your deletion tag on the Codicote F.C. article. I would agree that Codicote unfortunately don't meet the notability guidelines at present, but ironically you have put that tag up in the very month that Codicote are expected to be accepted to the FA Vase for the first time in their history. I agree that's not conclusive proof, though I'll point out that even their official website ticker has the news up, and even if they are rejected, it just seems like the wrong decision to put a notice of deletion up right now when they are so close. Please stop editing the Tunisian league pages as you clearly have contributed only in deleting and omitting things...almost never adding any bit of new information. Re: A few things

I have replied on the relevant talk page about the Mizrahi Worker. About the other issue, I really don't know if the affiliations still stand. I'm sure that at least some of these localities have websites, or a website for the regional council, which may clarify the official position of the kibbutz/moshav. No time to check that now, but if you give me a list of the locations, I'll look for the websites on day.

Non of those being supported in the link are the Italian football templates, people are saying something positive about the way it is on the Scottish one but not the others. My use of flags at Darron Gibson falls within guidelines describing sporting nationality. My username doesn't show when editing in another language

I wrote an article on Ohalo College in Hebrew (מכללת אוהלו) in the Hebrew Wikipedia and after saving it I realised I was not logged in, and when trying to log in it did not let me. Can I only log in in the English Wikipedia then? Do I need a username for each language I use? Now the history of this article doesn't show my name as the first editor and contributor.

How notable does the league or team have to be? This is the biggest High School Christian Conference in Florida, and Wade is one of the teams. I have not made an official league page, but I have many fans here in Melbourne who will want to see results and information about the team posted here. As I said before, I had only just begun. What do you think will happen? Early elections? Just a change of PM from Olmert to Livni? Something else entirely? English Football Clubs

I notice you've proded many English football clubs, with the comment "Club fails to meet generally accepted notability criteria for English football clubs, i.e. having played at Step 6 or above, or in the FA Cup or Vase.". I've been going through WP:NOTE and other pages and I can't find this criteria anywhere, please advise me where I can find it. I am concerned about removing articles about teams that are over 100 years old. Nfitz (talk) 07:25, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

• If that's the case, then there should be additions made to WP:NOTE, etc. And with most of the teams I can agree - but those that have lots of published references surely meet notability requirements for an organization. And I'd think any with a history over 100 years, and perhaps even over 60 years, would be another issue.

• In terms of players, I'm not unconvinced that a professional player playing for a professional team in Tier 5 such as Conference National shouldn't be notable. It's hard for me to buy that they show Conference National games here on TV in Canada - but that their professional players aren't notable. Just for info, the Conference National is not a fully professional league. There are several semi-pro clubs, whose players are not full-time footballers. These include Histon, Lewes and Altrincham. пﮟოьεԻ 57 16:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Before you start doing this on a regular basis, please read WP:ATHLETE. The guideline states:

"Competitors who have competed in a fully professional league."

I'm not sure I agree - this certainly hasn't been consistently applied elsewhere. Look at Stirling Albion for example. WP:FOOTYN was developed by WP:FOOTY but was not accepted by the wider community, so at the moment is meaningless. Plus the Conference is not "almost entirely" professional. Only slightly more than half the teams are fully pro. Apologies for not getting back to you yesterday. I did edit on wikipedia but got sidetracked. Anyway this may get lengthy and messy so please bear with me. I fully realise that there have been AfD's previously for clubs. However, I do not believe that the "cut off point" used to determine whether a club (in England specifically) is notable or not is correct. Apart from which as you say it is not policy. For inclusion on wikipedia articles need to be about a notable subject regardless of what level they happen to play football. As another editor mentioned at least one of the clubs (and I am only talking about West Lancashire League [WLL] clubs here) is well referenced and is an article about a club that has been in existence for well over a hundred years. In fact many of the clubs are well over 100 years old. Attendances at a number of WLL games are comparable to leagues higher than the WLL, as are many of their facilities. One such example being Charnock Richard F.C. which you prodded. Yet it contains well sourced material, and is certainly in my opinion, a positive addition to wikipedia. Their record crowd (at the Reebok stadium for a Cup Final) is 1,826. They are working on ground development that will eventually bring it up to Northern Premier Leagus standard. Most WLL clubs represent a town, village, area. In my opinion wikipedia should be including information that would be useful in an encyclopaedia which I also then maintain that articles about those clubs is. Their inclusion certainly does no harm to wikipedia, rather the opposite as a number of the articles you "prodded" are well sourced, well written with infoboxes, images, full information. I should point out that I didn't create any of the articles so I am not defending their inclusion as the article creator, just that I think the "generally accepted" cut off point for clubs is in this particular case wrong. I have worked on quite a few of the articles though. We have at least one Sunday League club with an article on wikipedia which was created by a member of the footy project, simply because it has had a handful of players who went on to become professional footballers. I think John Terry is one of them but I haven't looked so apologies if I'm wrong. My point being that if exceptions can be made for a Sunday League team then there is clearly some ambiguity over what is and what is not notable with regard to English football clubs. I did say this may get lengthy and messy and I have probably forgotten some of what I had intended to include, but hope you at least can see my point about all this. With regard to this comment, "could probably write an article on a Sunday league team and reference it to my local paper" with respect writing an article about a Sunday League team is not even remotely relevant. None of the clubs are "sunday league teams". I very much doubt that the outcome will be anything other than delete, I am though entitled to vote and my opinion, and comments about "Sunday League teams" are totally irrlevant. Charnock Richard are developing their ground so that it eventually meets Northern Premier League requirements. West Lancashire League clubs are promted to the North West Counties League if they meet the requirements. Hardly releveant to compare them to a Sunday League team. Well perhaps we can at least come to some kind of truce. I've made it quite clear that there is nothing personal here. After seeing the Kilian Elkinson thing, I did go through all the recent football-related AfDs and Prods, and found a few things that I disagreed with, and spoke out. I certainly don't think all the AFDs I commented on were yours - I wasn't really looking at who did them. I certainly supported a couple of the more recent AFDs - perhaps they were also not your, but I thought I saw your name on the discussion - but I wasn't really paying attention as the names aren't important. I saw quite a few I agreed with, that I didn't bother to comment on (or bulk ones, where there's only 1 or 2 I objected to) - as there was clearly no support for keeping, and little point commenting further. I've seen a few of your prods, and as far as I know, I only removed one! I'm finding WP:FOOTY confusing as it directly references notability as being on WP:FOOTYN with no indication that is is only draft. I've only appealed two deletions, and I've already conceded on the second after new evidence came to light (though some procedural stuff is still being discussed, which of course were not important enough to raise if they were the only issues). My edit count in a 5-day period is normally only 3 or 4 articles. The site you link to appears to be wrong - it states that Wessex League 2 was level 10 in 2006-7, however, it was actually level 11 - above it were the

I spotted that at exactly the same time! As such, I've withdrawn them from the nomination. However, I can't see any of the other clubs there - Overton, Stoneham, Clanfield, Colden C, Fleetlands, Hamble Club, Otterbourne and Paulsgrove definitely haven't played above Wessex 3 (or 2 as it is now). Winchester Castle F.C.

Morning #57. As far as I know, the Hampshire League only got a Premier division very recently. In 1985-86, when Castle where promoted to division one, I think the non-league structure was Conference > Southern League Premier > Southern League South > Hampshire League Div 1 (the Wessex League didn't start until 1986-87, so they have even been Step 4 here). I've been trying to find more details on their earlier existance so I can expand that article, but things are pretty sketchy - I don't think they even have their own website. Of the ones that are left, Hamble FC is listed at http://www.fchd.info/HAMBLECL.HTM as being Hampshire 2 (Level 10) from 1997 to 1999, and Otterbourne is Hampshire 1 (Level 10) from 1999 to 2000 ... well Level 10 from their beginning to 2000 really ... • As far as the 4 clubs, the past AFDs use phrases like "never played above level 11" "never played at level 10 or higher", "never played above step 7". However these 4 clubs have played at level 10.
• I don't think think the EPL players whose professional experience was in the Conference do fail WP:ATHLETE. I think we have to follow the spirit of a guideline. WP:ATHLETE confers notablity on Competitors who have competed in a fully professional league. But how fully is fully? And how do we apply this to every sport. In the absence of community-accepted detailed criteria for each sport, we need to be careful how to apply this. If we were to apply the letter of the guideline rigidly, we'd wipe out many, many articles (such as most of those listed in Category:Canadian lacrosse players - for while they are fully professional teams and a league, most NLL players have alternate sources of income. So we have to follow the spirit. In this case a fully-professional player has played for a fully-professional team, in a national league comprised mostly of fully-professional teams. Common sense dictates that under these circumstances the spirit of WP:ATHLETE has been met. This was established at Articles for deletion/Nikola Saric. How is a Conference player different from Danish League 1 (or whatever they call it)? What we really need to do is establish football-specific guidelines - which ironically he also passes when you read WP:FOOTYN, but I realise there isn't acceptance of these, which is why I'm only arguing that he meets WP:ATHLETE. • Dear Number57: I am so glad that someone has looked at my piece on Moshav shitufi. Writing it was not premeditated: I wrote it today on the spur of the moment because I felt there was a definite lack of clarity between moshav (i.e., moshav ovdim) and moshav shitufi -- which is a totally different brand of animal. I do not think we need a separate, new article on moshav ovdim. In Hebrew, when we say "moshav", we automatically mean "moshav ovdim", so perhaps the existing article moshav should be edited a little to stress that it deals with moshav ovdim and to differentiate more sharply between the two types of moshavim. Puerto Rico Soccer League

Well the fact that Justin Myers is on loan to one of the teams in the league from the Puerto Rico Islanders a professional team sorta proves its a professional league. There players are paid and offered contracts, problem is that I dont have any formal paper work to prove this. In the league website it clearly states its a professional league [30] and the Puerto Rican Football Federation has acknowledge it as a pro league you can read that in this page [31] (Spanish) under a article named "Apoyo todal de la Federacion de Futbol a la PRSL", which translate to "Total support from the Football Federation for the PRSL". Kfar Daniel

I am pondering the article on Kfar Daniel. First, the original name: I have a feeling that it was "Beit Hever", not "Beit Haver". Actually, it seems (from Central Bureau of Statistics lists of name changes) that the original name was "Irgun Beit Hever" (or "Irgun Beit Haver" -- the lists are without nikud), but we can deal with the "Irgun" prefix after we decide on "Hever" vs "Haver". As you know, "Hever" is "a community" or "a group of members" in modern Hebrew; but "Hever" is also a biblical name (somewhere in Judges, I think). So far, I have not seen on the web any properly sourced or authenticated history of this moshav shitufi. Any ideas how we tackle the business of "Hever" vs "Haver"?

The second point concerns the founders: the text says Mahalniks, and I think this is correct; but then comes the infobox and says "Hungarian immigrants". Any idea how the Hungarian immigrants came into this? I guess in the end I will have to drive to Kfar Daniel and take a picture of the Keren Kayemet info board that probably still stands at the entrance into the village. Hi, there. According to his article he played in Vasas in the first division that could qualify as to ATHLETE or some such. Anyway the article I feel has enough legitimacy to go to Afd at least. It would be silly to have one red link while all other squad members have their article as clearly shown on the template. The article also had a legitimate source and such so I think it should stay. I just came by this article by coincidence but it seemed like an informative/intresting article that should be kept around for the benefit of, well the readers. Hi I did participate in Afds in the past and I will do so in the future as well however I did not use the quoted part in an Afd discussion and I thought you won't mind if I explain my thoughts a bit more. I don't have a big stake in the article I guess I'm just curios as to the benefit of deleting it. Do you have more reasons to wanting this article deleted other than rigid adherence to the ATHLETE guideline? However the fact that he didn't play mathces for Vasas is significant new information I wouldn't vote keep for example in light of this new info. I do consider the Premier League a big deal even if it's only squad membership but again that's just me not presenting an Afd argument, only using the talk page here. Whilst I understand that Wikipedia cannot list every football club in the country and that there should be criteria for their inclusion, I disagree with the removal of the article about newly-formed Scarborough Town FC. This item is of great interest to the inhabitants of Scarborough, where there has been no football team for over a year, and it is surely of interest to football fans in general.

Whether or not an article about Scarborough Town FC is allowed, it was in my opinion totally wrong to remove the mention of Scarborough Town FC from the article about the previous Scarborough FC. This article, as it stands, implies that Scarborough Athletic FC is the new incarnation of Scarborough FC. This is at least debatable, at most simply wrong.

The committee of Scarborough Town FC have worked hard over the past year to create a community club which will bring representative football back to the town, whereas Scarborough Athletic continnue to play 20 miles away in Bridlington. Scarborough Town FC is backed by a local sports college, one of whose trustees is Sheffield United FC. The Scarborough Town commmittee reads like a "who's who" of Scarborough football, and includes the former President of Scarborough FC, the former vice-president of Scarborough FC, two former associate directors of Scarborough FC, the former secretary of Scarborough FC, the chairman and treasurer of the Supporters Club of the former Scarborough FC, etc etc

We may have lost 128 years of football history when Scarborough FC went into liquidation, but please do not decry the efforts of those who seek to create a new club to take its place.

AfD of Kevin Reiman

I disagree with your closure of the AfD as delete. At best this was a keep, and at worst a no consensus close.

• The discussion was tending towards no consensus, as no one from the delete side convinced anyone to change their minds.
• The delete arguments were much weaker then the keeps, and in recent AfDs such as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/March 19, 2008 anti-war protest, you have even more delete !votes making a sounder policy argument (as opposed to a guideline argument in this AfD), with a no consensus close (14 !deletes to 5 !keeps).
• Reiman made professional reappearances in the pre-season in order to achieve a spot on the active roster. That is borderline WP:ATHLETE, as is the Westchester Flames.
• Although I did not mention it during the discussion, reason the discussion was reopened was to "allow members of WP:Football" to comment, which seems contrary to the idea that AfD is supposed to be representative of Wikipedia as a whole.
• The idea that Reiman did not meet WP:BIO because The Journal News is a local paper is also flawed, because it is not a local paper. Also, google news turns up plenty more articles detailing his college exploits.

Are you sure? Look at Shrewsbury programmes or tickets to see what the stadium name has been over the past year. What does the sign say at the gate? On the stadium walls? No stadium name to be found. It gets called the New Meadow, the New Stadium, Oteley Road Stadium, the New Shrewsbury Town Stadium, the New Gay Meadow etc. because it didn't have a name. Until last night.

If you want to claim that other stadia had established names before their sponsorship, think of:

• Arsenal's stadium, known as Ashburton Grove for several years before 2006.
• Swansea had the New Stadium moniker for nearly three months before their sponsorship deal was confirmed.

But forget about other examples. I agree with the precedent/policy that you quote, but clearly it does not apply to STFC.

Your argument is that Shrewsbury's stadium had an established name, when it clearly has not. Read this for a clue:

The new Shrewsbury Town stadium has been named The Prostar Stadium, after over a year without a title.

I'm disappointed by your stance, particularly as myself and the natives of Shropshire have patiently waited for a name for their stadium, only to be delivered a less than great name. People are already mocking it, calling it the Pornstar Stadium! I hope you reconsider, as I am adamant that Prostar Stadium, no matter how bad it is, is the only name the stadium has had.

Re: Regional council maps

Mapping all the regional councils could prove rather difficult, depending on your experience with making maps. However, there is an interactive service which has all the borders you're looking for, located here. You need to download an ActiveX control, and it only works on Internet Explorer-based browsers. I'd be willing to make a series of such maps (probably have made more maps than anyone on the project, not to mention that more experienced mapmakers on Wikipedia probably don't speak Hebrew and would have trouble using the link I provided), but as I said, it would take a ton of time, and it's just not one of my top priorities at the moment. On a side note, would you like to help me with something? I'm trying to bring up the article Arad, Israel to A-class or FA-class if possible, and have fixed all the problems from the last peer review except the short lead. I wouldn't translate Mif'alot Afek. The word mif'alot means deeds, similar to pe'ulot, but it's an archaic Psalms word (I dare not say Biblical, because King David seems to have invented hundreds of words). On the other hand, I'd translate the regional council to Northern Sharon Regional Council, per WP:ENGLISH.

By the way, I'm looking for a Wikipedia policy which discourages putting loosely related information in articles when the information already exists in more relevant articles. Do you know one?

Zerahia - yes, it should be removed. Zevulun - not sure, it's really a borderline case, and I think more of an issue of WP:COMMONNAME because he was a Biblical figure and I'm sure a lot of things were named for him. Maybe other editors should be consulted, because we're dealing with many articles and transliterations of the name (many modern-Israel-related articles mention the word Zevulun/Zvulun in various ways, also people like Zvulun Orlev). -- Ynhockey ^(Talk) 17:40, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Cheers on creating the Zrahia article, I have an army friend from there. In any case, something that really bothers me is the current spelling of Kiryat Mal'akhi. Frustrated?

I noticed your edit history comment over at Péter Gulácsi...honestly, I feel for you, but the PROD process is supposed to be for completely uncontested deletions. If people aren't allowed to contest prods, even as an IP, it compromises the system. It really does no good to re-add the prod...prod patrollers will catch it on this list, any good admin would notice it and not delete the article, and even if it is deleted, one post at WP:DRV brings it right back. It's always better to bring these to AFD...I like to think of it as putting a nail in the coffin, myself...a page that's deleted by XFD is much harder to bring back. A.F.C. Norwich

I've removed the PROD, because under their former name (Norwich Union F.C.) they did play in the F.A. Vase for two seasons in the late 70s. I have added this information to the stub of an article. They have however never played at the equivalent of today's Step 6 or above, so in my eyes are still a possible candidate for AfD. - fchd (talk) 06:59, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
