Hello Mccapra !

Thanks for reviewing Cabinet Dufaure II (France) ! You indicated that the article needed copy editing. If you could spare time, could you please indicate what part of the article (or perhaps is it all the article) needed it ? That would terribly help me improve it ! :)

Best regards, CocoricoPolynesien (talk) 09:50, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi @CocoricoPolynesien: don’t worry about the tag on the article. The content is fine and it just needs a native speaker of English (or similar) to make some adjustments to wording. Wikipedia is a collaborative project so this tag is a cue to a future editor rather than a direction to you. If you carry on creating good articles like this other editors will deal with specific details. All the best Mccapra (talk) 12:22, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

Redirects

Hey Mccapra,

I've noticed that you've been blanking a lot of articles and swapping them for redirects. I know a lot of these are crappy company promotional articles, but some of the articles you've blanked (Pulsar 590, Web3S) have survived AFD and are arguably notable. I'm sure some others could've been merged, maybe Superword Level Parallelism into Automatic vectorization?

I'm just wondering, isn't this circumventing the AFD process? You've obviously got more experience than me and know your way around, but unceremoniously blanking articles just seems like throwing away information.Mbdfar (talk) 19:10, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi thanks for your note. I have been redirecting a lot of articles today and yesterday. They’re mostly unsourced or long-standing stubs. I did not realise that some have an AfD consensus to keep them so you’re quite right I should not have redirected them without going back to AfD first. I will go back and see which ones those are. It is possible that some could be merged yes, but I’d so that wasn’t obvious to me. I’m conscious that these articles have been sitting here for more than a decade without much development in most cases. In the case you pointed out I would not have the knowledge to undertake such a merge.

I’m very happy to review my work. I will try to find the articles that went to AfD the redirect. If there are any others you think I’ve made a mistake with please point them out. Many thanks Mccapra (talk) 19:27, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply - I don't mean to call you out or anything, I'm just trying to help de-orphan as well and wondering what I can get away with. Best of luck! Mbdfar (talk) 19:43, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Prod removed

I removed your prod from [1] per edit summary rationale. I think this topic is likely notable, even through our article is a messy stub. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:29, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Draft should be deleted

Good evening ! according to Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, Draft:Saif_Ben_Ammar should be deleted because the editor's name is Horcujet and Saif Ben Ammar known as Horcujet. You can check in the article. The same user has uploaded photos to commons . https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Portait_of_saif_ben_ammar_(_hor_cujet_).png . then self promotion or paid. He doesn't even have a user page. I nominated the photo and article for speedy deletion.

Wikipedia:Autobiography: Avoid writing or editing an article about yourself (or paying someone else to do so), other than to correct unambiguous errors of fact. Writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is an example of conflict of interest editing and is strongly discouraged

--Eyatu Ben (talk) 12:33, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
ok thanks. I don’t have much experience with drafts and speedy deletion. If your speedy delete is declined, I suggest you read [2] before doing anything else. Also there’s no reason why people can’t upload photos of themselves to Commons, so long as they own the copyright (though another editor may come along afterwards and delete their contributions if they think they’re of no real value. Mccapra (talk) 12:57, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Merchant Republic

Thanks. I've deleted it as being created by a banned editor, but there's also a backstory which I've mentioned on your AfD. You can close it yourself now. Much appreciated, I'm kicking myself for having missed it. I've protected it also. Doug Weller talk 05:43, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Great thank you. It was total gibberish. I don’t know how to close an AfD so I’ll leave that to someone else. Mccapra (talk) 05:45, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Review of Thomas Arthur Rickard

Hi, I have had a notification that the page Thomas Arthur Rickard has been reviewed. Is there anywhere I can look to see what the result of the review is? Is there somewhere I can look to understand what the review process is that the page has undergone? Thanks, Tango Mike Bravo (talk) 09:44, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

@Tango Mike Bravo: Hi the New Page Review process is a way of checking that new articles are about topics that meet the notability requirements of Wikipedia, aren't copyright violations, and don't have major things wrong with them. I reviewed this article and could see that it passed all these thresholds. There isn't a report of the review, but if a new article is about something not notable or if it breaks copyright it can be sent to deletion. Otherwise reviewers add tags to it e.g. to request more sources, text cleanup or other modifications. By the way is this article based on a translation of the it.wiki article? If so I need to add a translation template onto its talk page. All the best Mccapra (talk) 10:49, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
@Mccapra: Thank you for the explanation. I was inspired to write the article on Thomas Arthur Rickard because I found that he had been linked to the it.wiki article on List of fellows of Imperial College London which I created. However, although I now live in Italy, my Italian is not up to doing any translation, so I basically started from scratch in creating the page. So short answer, is no, it is not a translation. Why I created the list is a longer story. Tango Mike Bravo (talk) 12:08, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
OK great no worries. I hope you find plenty of other interesting topics to write about. All the best Mccapra (talk) 12:10, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Help

Hello Mccapra, they have nominated one of my notable pages for deletion, a very famous Tunisian youtuber Hachem Gaddouch and my article is notbale by sources I need your vote and your help. Thank you --Eyatu Ben (talk) 02:30, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

  • @Eyatu Ben: Hi ok I’ll take a look. But also, if pages are proposed for deletion you’re not supposed to encourage people to come and vote one way or the other. And if it does get deleted, don’t worry. I’ve had my work deleted too. I’d also encourage you not to spend time creating articles about Youtubers. YouTube is not a reliable source for Wikipedia and the sources for articles about Youtubers are usually a. YouTube (not acceptable) and b. Blogs and other unreliable online sources. It’s actually very hard to create articles about Youtubers with reliable sources, so if you focus in the, you’ll have a very frustrating time. And thank you very much indeed for the barnstar!! Much appreciated. Mccapra (talk) 04:02, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
  • @Mccapra: Hi, Thank you for your reply. I only wrote one article on a notable youtuber, I am Tunisian and I like this actor youtuber, he is famous on my country, in addition you can see my articles, notable sources such as Tuniscope ... Thank you Mccapra --Eyatu Ben (talk) 04:12, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
  • @Eyatu Ben: ok I’ve looked and I’m afraid the article doesn’t have a single reliable source. Social media is never an acceptable source for Wikipedia, and neither is IMDB. Tuniscope isn’t either. It’s a ‘community’ that doesn’t rely on reports from proper journalists. I’d never heard of As-Sarih before but nothing I can see suggests it’s reliable either. Reliable sources would be independently-published books or scholarly papers/journals, or genuinely independent coverage (not interviews) by proper journalists in mainstream news media (e.g. As-Sabah, Al-Bayan, Jeune Afrique etc.). As I said it is usually very hard to find multiple reliable independent sources for Youtubers, so my best advice is to choose a different topic! If you want to save this article you have six days remaining now to find sources of the type I’ve mentioned. Mccapra (talk) 04:21, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
  • @Mccapra: In Tunisia we don't have access to sources for talented young , in addition youtubeur is a new culture in our country, we also have Tuniscope is very notable in our country. I put in my article a source from Assarih.com. I don't think there are other sources, and I don't know him personally, maybe there are other sources not shown on google and he knows it? Thank you for your explanation. Thank you for valuable efforts for contributing to Wikipedia. nice to meet you Mccapra --Eyatu Ben (talk) 08:37, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Le Concert Spirituel

On 22 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Le Concert Spirituel, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Le Concert Spirituel played Handel's open-air music at the Proms with an ensemble that comprised 18 oboes, 9 trumpets, 9 trombones, and strings? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Le Concert Spirituel. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Le Concert Spirituel), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Speedy deletion declined: Federico Castigliano

Hello Mccapra. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Federico Castigliano, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being professor at a notable university or college indicates importance/significance (WP:CCSI#ACADEMIC). Thank you. SoWhy 06:53, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Oliver Johnstone Page

I find it confusing and incorrect that you have flagged the page Oliver Johnstone for deletion. It does match the criteria in WP:NPOL, as he was a member of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council which is a province of Greater Manchester. It clearly states that if someone has been a member of a legislature at a province level they pass the criteria for WP:NPOL. This position that Oliver Johnstone had is similar to state house members in the United States, it is clearly therefore acceptable for this page to be in Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheApollotd (talkcontribs) 19:21, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi thanks for your note. I don't agree that Stockton Borough Council is equivalent to a state house in the USA at all. If you can find other articles on Wikipedia for UK borough councillors then that will support any case you want to make in the deletion discussion, but I don't think you'll find any.
