Band or group

edit

Why do you keep moving band pages? (I.e. the moved from Coming of Age (band) to Coming of Age (group)? A band is a group of people who make music. A group is less specific. Almost all articles about bands that require disambiguation use the term band, not group. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:57, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please stop moving pages to ...(group) pages. This is not in keeping with the norm at Wikipedia, and is not helpful. The move of Blaque to Blaque (group) is particularly problematic, as the page, at its original location, presented no problems and does not need a disambiguating phrase. Please stop working and take time to discuss why you are doing what you are doing. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:05, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reverted page move

edit

Again, I have reverted your move of Starshell to Starshell (singer) as the disambiguating term is not needed (there is no other Starshell article on Wikipedia). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:40, 20 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of I Like It (Sevyn Streeter song) for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article I Like It (Sevyn Streeter song) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/I Like It (Sevyn Streeter song) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Stefan2 (talk) 15:49, 11 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:CHERISH.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:CHERISH.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:49, 15 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:CHERISH.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:CHERISH.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:07, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries, multiple consecutive edits

edit

Hello LL- Here are a couple general editing notes you might consider:

  • When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary. Doing so makes it easier for your colleagues here to understand the intention of your edit.
  • Plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. This keeps the page history of the article less cluttered. Regards, Eric talk 14:27, 4 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Birth/date templates

edit

Hello, I've seen you edit birth/date templates of articles of quite a lot of articles to show either "Birth date and age" or "birth date age". Note that either one does not effect the outcome of the template, i.e. what you're doing isn't making a difference. Feel free to drop me a talk page note if you need any infobox help. Regards. —JennKR | 18:31, 6 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lindenhurst Liberty, other editors have previously requested that you discontinue the unnecessary and minute changes you continue to make to the 'birth date and age' templates, as well as your overlinking of common terms, yet you continue to make these same trivial (and sometimes incorrect) changes without responding to any of the concerns raised here. Could you please leave a message here to show that you have at least read the advice provided by other editors here? --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your edits

edit

Hi there. You seem to make a lot of edits that are, for lack of a better description, either pointless (like replacing en dash glyphs with en dash code) or unhelpful, such as subjective changes from "References" to "Notes" and so on. Could you please at least try to use an edit summary that explains your changes so people know what you're trying to accomplish? Some things (like referencing style) are a matter of personal preference and you shouldn't arbitrarily change them without discussion and agreement with the article's primary editors. --Spike Wilbury (talk) 22:39, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

This is disappointing Lindenhurst Liberty as you told me in the section "Birth/date templates" above that you had read the advice provided and would no longer make trivial and unnecessary changes to the templates (WP:OVERLINK has also been pointed out to you before, and yet it continues unabated). Do you still not understand that the majority of your edits do not improve the readability of the article whatsoever? You're certainly keen, and Wikipedia needs wikignomes, but you are essentially making hundreds upon hundreds of null edits.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 23:23, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ponyo, I know you been watching me make those same birthdate template edits and I disobeyed you because I told you I wasn't going to edit the birthdate templates no more but I am going to stick to that also I been making other unconstructive edits that do not improve the article I am editing such as changing Notes to References that is not helpful at all and does not correspond with Wikipedia:Neutral point of view as Notes and References are the same thing also I will not be overlinking articles no more because I read WP:OVERLINK and I now know what needs to be linked and what doesn't and I will also use an edit summary before I save an edit to an article so editors on Wikipedia will know what edits I made to the article. Lindenhurst Liberty (talk) 17:45, 28 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

That would be very helpful.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 00:11, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Final note

edit

At this point I no longer believe that you have any intention of listening to editors on your talk page with regard to your unnecessary null edits to articles. You have (twice now) stated unequivocally that you would not continue to make unnecessary edits to articles such as changing the case/number format of the birth date age templates and yet it continues unabated to this day. I don't know whether you simply don't care that your edits are unproductive and an irritant to many other users, or whether you are incapable of stopping yourself. Regardless, your continued disregard of the requests of others as well as your dishonesty reflects poorly on you with regard to your ability to edit collaboratively. I've given up in trying to explain these issues to you in hopes that your editing could be directing into a more productive area as you simply won't listen. That's unfortunate and I expect that it will ultimately lead to more exasperated talk page messages from frustrated editors and possibly sanctions; that is the Wikipedia path you have chosen for yourself. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 21:28, 2 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Miranda Cosgrove. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Non-free image resolution

edit

Hi there. I'm curious why you reverted the bot here. Per WP:IMAGERES, non-free images should generally not exceed 0.1 megapixels. Your image was much too large, and the bot did what it was meant to do and resized it down to a lower resolution. Once reduced, the page is tagged so that the larger image is removed from the file history, leaving only the sized-down version. This is done whenever new versions of non-free files are uploaded. We do not retain the history, as the old versions of the files are technically orphaned. I've reverted back to the bot's version and again tagged the file as having orphaned non-free revisions. Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Nick—Contact/Contribs 19:01, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
