Your vandalbot edit

It would be nice if the bot (or you) warned vandals; the same person has vandalised talk:Caffeine three times now and it would have been great if s/he'd been warned after the first two times, cuz then s/he could have been blocked after the third. Anchoress 16:44, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you are right, I should have posted a warning. I'll try and remember that more often in the future. Thanks for the advice. (And just for the record, I am not a bot) Hemmingsen 17:05, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey NP. Sorry for thinking you were using a bot; it was something about the edit summaries that made me think that. Do you know where all the vandalism warning templates are? They're listed in a few places, here's one. Anchoress 17:16, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ah, the edit summaries. They were auto-generated by the javascript popup windows, which save me a couple of clicks now and then. So that's what made them look bot-like. Thanks for the link. Hemmingsen 18:30, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Niels Bohr vandalism edit

Hey! I see you fixed up 'give me liberty, or give me death' in the Niels Bohr article. I think it's been vandalized even farther back. (The change in a quotation of his is surely bogus). Possible this article is a candidate for semi-protection. (Most of the recent edits are vandalism). I'm considering reverting it back to my own last 'Rv vandalism' entry of 27-Sept. At the same time I'll try to keep your Hendrik->Henrik change. EdJohnston 14:08, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Looks like a successful operation. And thanks for taking the time to notify me. You needn't worry too much about keeping changes like removing that 'd', though, - it really was a minor edit. Hemmingsen 18:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

WPBiography tag edit

Hi there! So I noticed you tagged a bio I'm working on, Kroger Babb. I've not really paid much attention to the classifications before, so I was somewhat surprised to see you grant it a B-class, and I was curious if you'd share some pointers on what you feel needs improvement. Thanks! --badlydrawnjeff talk 19:38, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi!
I don't hope it was a disappointment that I rated it as B-class, because it really is quite good. I think that if you expanded the lead a bit it would have a really good chance at WP:GAC. Other than that I only have really minor things:
  • I don't think there's any real doubt as to which currency the dollar signs refer to, but how about clarifying it at the first occurrence anyway?
  • The section "Other ventures and post-exploitation" has a couple of rather short paragraphs, and, IMHO, short paragraphs generally don't read as smoothly. Maybe you could find a way to join (or expand) some of them?
  • Some of the other section headers repeats Babb's name. You can shorten "Babb's later films" to "Later films". The entire article is about him so it is a bit redundant to repeat that in the headings.
It's really not much, but I hope it's enough to help you anyway. Hemmingsen 20:24, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I apologise for not responding to this, I must have completely missed your talk page pop up on my watchlist. I'll definitely look at these issues, though, I know I've touched the post-exploitation stuff since the tag, and thanks for the input. --badlydrawnjeff talk 16:17, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hemmingsen, thank you so much for your support for my RfA. I passed with a vote tally of 61/0/1. I am honored that the consensus was to allow me the added privilege of the admin mop. I appreciate your support on my RFA! --plange 23:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Landsting election of 1920 edit

Hi Hemmingsen

Could you please check your source again regarding the date of the 1920 Landsting elections? Hof- og statskalenderen from 1923 gives the dates 10 September 1920 (column 26) for the Landstingsvalgte and 1 October for the candidates standing in constituencies (column 27). Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 20:51, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've replied on your talkpage. Hemmingsen 06:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, in that case, shouldn't we move the article to "... (September 1920)" rather than "... (August 1920)"? I agree that we definitely need a better explanation of this odd election system. It would be great if you could add more details. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 10:31, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies edit

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:44, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Talk:Second moment of area edit

Thank you for the explanation of Product Moment of Area on Talk:Second moment of area. In your opinion, should this material be at Second moment of area or somewhere else? Do you feel up to starting the article on Product Moment of Area? RJFJR 23:19, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replied on your talkpage. Hemmingsen 16:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Adding it to the article makes sense to me. Question, though, what are the units of σ (sigma)? (Actually, its dimension is what I want). RJFJR 18:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Dimensions are things like length or time. The dimensions of velocity is length over time. I'm not sure sigma is telling me and I haven't figured out its dimension from the formula yet. (I should probably get a piece of paper and work on it.) RJFJR 02:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
