Hey, I'm User:MicrobiologyMarcus but feel free to call me Marcus. I'm a semi-active editor here, and I have been since I registered for an account on Wikipedia in January 2021. Prior to registering, I occasionally made edits either as an IP user or under usernames long since forgotten.

If you need to get in touch with me, my preferred method of contact is on my talk page. If you came here for an inquiry about a specific article, I invite you to start a discussion on that article's talk page, and invite me to discuss on my talk page.

I try and keep an eye on my watchlist but there's a lot in there. If you're waiting for a response from me on a project page and I've been active elsewhere on Wikipedia, consider leaving a message on my talk page politely reminding me and point to the discussion. Worst case scenario, I'll drop you a {{Read}} reply.

About me edit

I have a Master of Science degree in Environmental Microbiology, and my thesis focused on microbial remediation. Currently, I work as a Research Microbiologist. In the future, I'd love to begin adding high quality photos to the Commons.

I enjoy editing pages on a broad range of microbiology topics, contributing to topics that interest me while I'm Wiki-crastinating, and participating in discussions on talk pages about current events or topics in the news. I've also been seen patrolling the recent changes page for unnecessary but good faith edits or vandalism from IP address. I also like adding infoboxes to pages hot-off-the-presses from Articles for creation and New pages patrol.

I think biting the newbies is one of the worst things we can do as a project; we should assist future long-term editors for the benefit of the project. I'm a big believer in the assume good faith policy. I also think that vandals are obviously not here to improve the project and should be smitten [wikt] down on sight.

Ongoing work edit

Editing can be a tireless and thankless job. Sometimes I'll edit for the fun of it. Sometimes I'll really put my mind to a topic, and want to see an article flourish. If I list an article here, it's most likely because I'd like to come back to it and continue to improve it.

Other work edit

I've previously written articles on a variety of topics. I have written some articles from scratch and I have greatly improved and expanded others from a previous state.
