Re: Silver Ravenwolf edit

Sorry I didn't leave an explanation, but if you view the history, you'll see this has happened several times: a single-topic unidentified editor drops the same bunch of blog-referenced negative material in as a "criticism" section. Your assessment is quite correct, IMO; thanks for looking twice.Rosencomet (talk) 23:33, 5 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your response to "Gummy Dummy" on the BDSM talk section. edit

"Your personal squeamishness about the issue aside, Gummy Dummy, I too, would welcome information about the psychology of BDSM, provided it comes from reliable sources."

Regarding actual experience with practitioners of BDSM, I'd say the motives are more multi-factorial (and not all are enigmatically psychological.)

For example, I once enquired a Female Submissive as to why she enjoyed being dominated. She delineated that it was simply due to the fact she had always "been in control" throughout her life, therefore BDSM allowed her to periodically inhabit an outlet in which she didn’t “have to make the decisions”.

A brief conclusion, but still (I think) intriguing none the less.

In regards to Gummy, I always tend to be angered by the correlation of “psychology” and “BDSM“, simply because I believe it's often perpetrated out of a reactionary fear or conjectured misunderstanding towards the practice; pathologization.

It’s disheartening when practitioners are regarded as mentally sick etc. as it in fact takes great mental stability/trust to engage in acts of regulated BDSM. The psychology is interesting, but most practitioners I’ve met are imaginative and/or intelligent people, who simply admire more creativity in stimulation; sexual or otherwise.User:LLLookAtYouHacker (talk) 11:48, 4 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't regard BDSM as mentally sick, seeing as I myself am a practitoner. All sexual fantasies, vanilla or kinky, have a certain psychological logic surrounding them. I often take it upon myself to question my partners about why they like what they like. I assure, I in no way meant imply that BDSM practitioners are psychologically damaged. Bisexual Porn Actress edit

hi, you recently removed an edit regarding a porn actress being bisexual. the Zoe Voss page says she is bi yet the source does not mention her being bisexual. shouldn't she be removed as as well from that category?

also if someone says "My heart is not closed to a relationship with either a man or a woman" and "I love women but I’d turn straight for the right guy" how does that not identify them as bisexual, i'm confused??? please get back to me, thanks. Sleek Intro (talk) 05:17, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edits to Cisgender article edit

Can you please stop changing my edits? It's one thing to change content - related categories is another thing entirely. Please stop it as it constitutes a personal attack. Have you nothing better to do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fadedbetta (talkcontribs) 16:48, 5 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi there Asarelah - sorry for the confusion - I am just figuring WikiPedia out and I didn't know how to post something the right way before. There is a large number of people who don't believe Cisgender really exists. What is the formal, legitimate and honest way of disputing the legitimacy of an article for being biased and poorly sourced?

I would like to do that because I don't believe in Cisgender, and the author of the original article "Cisgender" on Wikipedia says things without citing any legitimate academic sources. I would like to flag this article. What I had meant before was that "Cisgender" people are about as real as "Mythical creatures", "Mytical birds" and "Chimera" or "Vampires" - aka they exist in the minds of many, but that alone does not make them real.

Thank you for your constructive help in letting me know how to flag this article as biased, poorly written and untrue, so that a better version can be generated or a more valid argument that is well cited can be made.

Thanks a lot for your understanding as I learn to use Wikipedia - it looks like you are a serious and important contributor yourself, from your page.

Best wishes, Fadedbetta — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fadedbetta (talkcontribs) 17:01, 5 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Joan Crawford edit

Hi. I've reverted your addition the Joan Crawford article regarding her supposed bisexuality because you presented the information as fact when it is only supported by, basically, hearsay. The info in the book you cited only says that some people claimed they had a lesbian relationship with her. She never admitted to having sex with women while she was alive nor has there ever been any real evidence that supports theses claims. I could possibly see mentioning the claims but not anything that states this as fact. I suggest bringing this up on the article talk page instead of adding it back straight away. I believe this issue was broached before and since the article is listed as being a "Good" article, any major changes should probably get consensus. Pinkadelica 01:19, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't think so considering her history with Crawford and the whole Mommie Dearest debacle. Plus, it's still hearsay. Unless Crawford flat out said she had flings with women, I don't think we can claim she's bisexual just because some long dead people claim they hooked up with her and an author reprinted it. I'm pretty sure policy states that a person must self identify to be categorized as gay or bisexual. If you feel that strongly about it though, do take it up on the talk page. Additional input isn't going to hurt. Pinkadelica 05:01, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Like I said, I think additional input from the community is needed. An RfC would be best. Pinkadelica 19:24, 20 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

India Summer edit

Hi, first off, I'm impressed with how prolific you are as an editor, WOW! Truly amazing! As for India, the same article where she admits to being Bi she also admits that she's a swinger. Personally I hate the "s word", I'd rather refer to it as "being in the Lifestyle" or something similar, but the Vanillas tend not to understand that terminology. In the paragraph where she answers "How did you get into the industry?" She states, "...I was sexual in an exploratory way before I went into the industry. I had quite a bit of experience swinging. People at my work, friends and swingers would tell me I should model, or if they were swingers that I should be in porn..." So that's the basis for my edit. I have other sources, but they're not even remotely citable. Great user page, BTW! I like your interests, very cool & good stuff! --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (talk) 03:24, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

You are quite welcome! I'm just glad that there's a good article to reference for her. I try to keep track of her mentions and appearances in AVN magazine, but its sporadic aside from "new release" listings. I'm lucky if she returns an email or direct msg on Twitter these days, but I like to help her out when I can. In fact I think I converse more often "about" her with mutual acquaintances than I do with India herself (lol). By the way, there's been a campaign by a few to put her real name in her article. User Cavarrone has been leading the charge to keep it deleted and I support him and help out when I can. She uses her stage name in both the Industry and main stream so I personally see no need to publish her real name.

Help, I need your opinion edit

Hi Asarelah,

I need your help because I am now quite confused. A male classmate of mine posted these pics to me:

Another male classmate of mine had posted these pics to me:

From a female point of view, is the first category of photos acceptable to girls? What are your reactions and thoughts when you see those images?

(ii) Do you consider the second category of photos to be offensive/inappropriate or not?

Because I currently do not know how to reply to them, nor do I know where to draw the line so I seek a female's opinion. I sincerely apologize to you if any of the images may cause offense to you.

--DavidMAyers (talk) 05:57, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I see, so girls in general would not care if anyone (whom they never knew before) saw those images either by accident or on purpose.
From a female perspective, is it no different to looking at a women's weekly or fashion magazine?
But what if one day you saw a male friend of yours seeing those photos. What would your reaction be? Would you mind at all if he looks at it? (ie. would you still remain indifferent?)
(Btw, I had attended a single-sex high school so there were no female classmates I could consult for their opinion at the time). --DavidMAyers (talk) 18:25, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

    • When people have started banning proposals they are beyond reasoning. The quote I provide is what the lead of the article was when I recategoized it. It is true it has since been changed, but I did not alter the lead, I only followed it.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:21, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Actually the ban proposal suggests to me a-I should not edit the article Amanda Filipacchi. b-I should not move articles to Category:American female pornographic film actors. The fact that the nominator cited the first person in Category:American women journalists to try to prove Filipacchi was being treated wrongly and it was my fault, when in fact I had put that first person in the category there as well earlier in the day suggests to me that there is not reasoned objection to actually populating the category. I have decided to probably hold off on putting columnists there, to avoid category stacking issues, although since I put all females that I found at Category:American war correspondents in Category:American women journalists as well, I think people have very narrow views on the think. I still think we should avoid the spectre of having people claim "wikipedia has more articles on female porn stars than women journalists". If there is an imbalance though it is not wikipedia's fault.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:02, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

nondiffusing cats edit

Hi just a friendly note that most gender/ethnicity/sexuality/religion cats are currently non-diffusing, meaning membership in the child does not mean removal from the parent - just saying this in response to a comment you made at AN. See WP:EGRS for more details. Cheers, Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 03:54, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The witchhunt intensifies edit

Someone has now threatened an RFC against me. This is very disturbing. It really does feel like a witch hunt.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:42, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • The RFC was linked to at the bottom of the AN discussion. They also linked to a previous RFC that failed. I really, really, really was hoping that the attack would end soon, but if an RFC starts, than PBP will come back and flame more attacks on me. OK, maybe I am over reacting, but I hate this attack me minutely for anything I do. I really do not know why this all bothers me so much, but it does. The whole thing seems to be specific, intense blame.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:58, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I just do not want to see people attack me even more. I tried to reach out, but maybe I acted in too defensive a manner. I am now really worried. I am really distraight. I am letting this hurt my emotional well being. I thought if I reverted the edit that started it all things would be OK, but evidently not.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:10, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I still feel like it is a witch hunt. Now someone has used it to attack me for disagreeing with the overly Latin turn of phrase in a category name. That seems to be outrageous.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:35, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I don't think not editing at all will help. The discussion on the Latin phrase was months ago. Anyway, editing allows us to see lacking. Before I started moving people to century specific categories, I had no clue we had 6 times as many 21st-century American novelists as 19th-century American novwelists.John Pack Lambert (talk) 22:31, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bisexual Erasure edit

Bisexual erasure is a widespread problem that harms bisexuals and the bi community. Bisexuals have higher rates of depression, poverty, suicide, and rape compared to gays, lesbians, and straight people. Studies show that when bisexuals come out, their mental health usually goes down (as opposed to gays and lesbians whose mental health goes up on average). This is because bisexuals are usually left on their own, without role models or community support. They face homophobia from the straight world, biphobia from gays and lesbians, and erasure from just about everyone. You are actively setting a very high bar for proof of bisexuality. Proof of bisexual behavior is not enough for you, even with citations that call the person bisexual. Instead, you call for first hand quotes by a person, overtly and directly claiming a bisexual identity - essentially you are saying that the only person we can call bisexual is one who assumes the activist mantle and personally and actively makes his/her bisexuality known far and wide. One's sexuality is a personal thing and not everyone is a crusader for bisexuality as an identity. If a person's patterns of relationships, sex, and attraction are clearly and visibly bisexual (by definition both hetero and homosexual), and the person is open about such fact and does not claim an identity that contradicts the empirical evidence, it is fair to call him or her bisexual. I have no doubt that your intentions are good, but the standard you set erases well over 95% of bisexuals. In maintaining this standard, as you recently did with the article on Daniela Mercury (whose relationship history is clearly and openly bisexual), you are actively erasing bisexuals and contributing to a social malady.Udibi (talk) 02:26, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The rules on Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons state very clearly that the person must publicly self-identify with the label in question. Daniela Mercury must publicly self-identify as a bisexual. Period. Furthermore, there are plenty of people who have relationships with both men and women but reject the term bisexual in favor of calling themselves pansexual (like Nayland Blake, queer (like Tristan Taormino), or eschewing labels all together (such as Amber Heard, so I don't think its exactly fair to them to follow your criteria for bisexual identification on their articles. I'm also not entirely sure how much erasure I can be engaged in when I was careful to leave the LGBT categories in her article and not remove them entirely. If you don't like the rules, then by all means, advocate to get them changed, but I'm not the one who created them, so trying to debate them with me is really a waste of time. I suggest you contact an administrator for information on how to advocate for a change in the criteria. Have a nice day. Asarelah (talk) 16:52, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker) I think we should use the same standard we use for gay or lesbian people - whatever that is (which I think, for BLPs, is self-identification). I don't see why bisexuals should have a different standard. Sexual identity is complex and shifting, and we're better off not labeling someone unless we're sure.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 17:32, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
That too. Anyway, I just gave Udibi the BLP lecture. Asarelah (talk) 17:54, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chikatilo edit

Hi, Asarelah. I don't feel vampirism should be a tag on the Chikatilo page. He states on p. 203 of The Killer Department he tasted blood but didn't swallow it. A lot of people accuse him of being a cannibal and to a lesser extent a vampire, but it's not true. Maybe there are more accurate terms to describe him which can be added. Regards. PS Sorry if my reverts sounded blunt--Kieronoldham (talk) 23:21, 24 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hatnotes edit

Hello, Asarelah. I want to talk to you about your addition of WP:Hatnotes in articles such as those on the Angel (pornographic actress) and Missy (pornographic actress) articles. First of all, when adding hatnotes, you are supposed to use templates such as these at the very top of the page when editing, not type it within the article. Secondly, hatnotes are supposed to be used when people with very similar names can easily be confused with one another, such as Missy Stone and Misty Stone or Sunny Lane and Sunny Leone. Hatnotes are not supposed to link a person's article to everyone who shares the same first name with them. That would be like going to Jennifer Lopez's article and adding a hatnote saying "Not to be confused with Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence etc..." When it comes to an article on a mononymous person such as Angel or Missy, it would be more appropriate to add a hatnote saying "For other uses, see Angel" or "For other uses, see Missy" instead of listing every porn actress with the same first name. I removed the hatnotes you added to Angel's article before but you reinserted them and that's why I felt the need to explain this to you. Your edits were obviously in good faith, but keep all this in mind next time. Rebecca1990 (talk) 18:13, 12 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your rollback of the Samuel Delaney NAMBLA Endorsement edit

Wikipedia has blacklisted the site referenced and does not allow it to be referenced. I placed a partial URL in text to circumvent what I am sure is an unintentional blacklisting of a relevant source. I have also added a reference to NAMBLA's Wiki entry that documents his endorsement there as well. Please message me if you feel the cited reference fails to support the quote. The truth may be outrageous, but it is still the truth.

Cheers!

Regarding this Delaney Vendetta edit

Why do I say vendetta? I removed the reference to Wikipedia and replaced it with the original source. Why did you still undo my edit? The history stands as testament to your actions. What is your problem you cite with my most recent edit? Am I lying? Am I defaming Delany? You have won for now. I will wait until the time expires. You are gaming this system. That is my belief and here is my support: Undid my revisions twice. I made changes each time to comply with the letter of the policy. You know as well as I that I will be banned if I make another revision. I guess I am a noob and you take full advantage of this rather than man up and debate before you undo my edit. I get the sense that you have an agenda here. It is as if you are personally vested in hiding any and all direct link he has to NAMBLA? If I am wrong, please rebut and I will acknowledge my error. Why did you undo the entire text outside your statement of justification? What you and others have done indicate that rather than correct the record at the granular level, you censor the entire edit to include what is cited correctly. Please reply as I am interested in your line of thought on this issue. 76.90.67.179 (talk) 23:43, 2 August 2013 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.90.67.179 (talk) 23:40, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dalea candida, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Navajo and Ramah (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
