Would games like GeoGuessr fall under this category? Arlo James Barnes 11:54, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Overall, I'm struggling to see the distinction between location-based game and location-based video game. I think they should be merged. Both tend to talk about using technology and using GPS for the game. Echopixel (talk) 20:12, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’m feeling the same way. It seems like, at present, this article is about an umbrella term that covers both location-based video games and games which track players’ locations but which aren’t video games. The article uses “urban games” for these latter ones.
My big concerns are that 1)The umbrella term “location-based game” for both of these is something that nobody is using anywhere outside of a small academic circle in the late 2000’s; and 2)”Urban games,” while certainly a unique little phenomenon, were so limited even in their heyday that secondary sources on them are scarce.
So article is about a term that captures exactly two (2) things, one of which already has a much better article and the other of which we’re going to have a hard time coming up with sources on. I think.
Maybe we just make an “Urban Games” article? King Crab Kid (talk) 13:25, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Possibility of merging "Location-based game" with "Geolocation-based video game". edit

Dear Wikipedians,

I have skimmed through the articles Geolocation-based video game and Location-based game and I don't really see a reason why they should exist independently. I don't think I am qualified to judge the merge-abillity of the two articles. Can someone more experienced than me judge the two articles?

Sincerely,
