Silliness

edit

"During the development, the entire building was cursed by a plague of spiders that covered the exterior windows.[1] Some say it was because of the demonic nature of the game while others say it was because Exidy did not pay its exterminator bills."

True.

Sprites

edit

I noticed this game has transparent sprites (the gosts flying around), something that is very advanced for the time of the release of this game (1984) - does anyone know what the first game was to use transparent sprites? --Abdull 01:23, 20 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Chiller.png

edit

Image:Chiller.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:28, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

What?

edit

This seems more like an ad for the game than a Wikipedia article. MaraquanWocky (talk) 22:32, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

First to feature blood

edit

I just read that this was the first game to feature blood. Can someone confirm? The Mo-Ja'al (talk) 03:45, 13 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Banned in the UK?

edit

I was reading about this game, and I found out that it was supposedly permanently banned in the UK. Some sources very trivially mention this (RetroGamer, MobyGames, VeteranGamers), and it's a known "fact" about the game mentioned everywhere else, like, for example, some YouTube videos. However, the two most reliable sources (Kotaku, International Game Museum) don't mention this at all.

This makes me believe that this is all just a rumor or a hoax, but that's a weird rumor to create (why the UK?). I wasn't able to find any "official" statements (from either Exidy or the UK government?), and no pages public before the year 2000 mention it either (thanks Google), but seeing how all of this is more than 30 years old, it'd make sense not being able to find it on the Internet.

So, is anyone from the UK able to confirm (because I'm curious), or provide reliable sources (because it'd be cool to include it on the Wikipedia page)? I know that seeing the state of this talk page, no one is going to reply within the next 15 years, but here's hoping. 🐈 cAtte_ · talk · contributions · 21:52, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
