[new] List of Oscar Niemeyer works: feedback needed

I've recently began a more robust list to replace the current List of Oscar Niemeyer works. My prototype is at: User:Prburley/sandbox/n

I believe it follow WP:MOS and general WP architecture practices, but I'd appreciate any and all feedback from the WP:List community before I go very far into this.

Thanks in advance. Prburley (talk) 14:09, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

List of fatal shark attacks in California

I am wondering if someone from this WikiProject would mind taking a look at List of fatal shark attacks in California and assessing it. There seems to be a lot of detail provided about some of these attacks which might be taking things a bit too far, but I am not sure if that is common for these types of articles. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:35, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Problematic article

List of countries and dependencies by population is an article that is relevant to this project. After having it drop off my watchlist some time ago I returned on 9 August 2016 to find that the population table is constantly being edited without any indication of sourcing, or edit summaries, usually by IPs or newly registered editors. The complete lack of sourcing for new edits means that the data in this article is dubious at best. One particular problem that I found is that data templates, which are used to automatically calculate today's population based on official sources, have been removed and replaced with unsourced manual calculations. Several times now I have had to restore these templates after yet another unsourced, unexplained change.[1][2][3][4][5] I have now tagged the article to identify issues, and requested semi-protection, but the input by responsible editors who can update the article with accurate, sourced data is needed. --AussieLegend () 04:42, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello list experts. I was working on this page and I noticed that it is in the category Category:Incomplete lists from April 2016. It doesn't appear to be a list article. Is this an error, or am I misunderstanding the purpose of the category?—Anne Delong (talk) 00:37, 6 September 2016 (UTC)

Adding banner to articles start with List of

Is anyone here adding list articles to this WikiProject? I just added a couple of dozen articles all of which started with List of. Surely this is something a BOT can do? Am I making sense? Ottawahitech (talk) 13:33, 23 October 2016 (UTC)please ping me

I have nominated Shannen Doherty filmography , and I would greatly appreciate it if any of you could take a look and leave your comments. Aoba47 (talk) 17:21, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

@Aoba47: Pardon my ignorance, but why is this wp:article called a wp:list? The introduction is all about the actress, not the list? Ottawahitech (talk) 17:08, 5 November 2016 (UTC)please ping me
@Aoba47: I am not sure myself what the wiki-rules are in respect to wp:featured lists. As an amateur I only wonder why there is so much duplicate information between the article Shannen Doherty and the list Shannen Doherty filmography? Who makes sure that both the list and the article are kept up-to-date? Ottawahitech (talk) 16:11, 6 November 2016 (UTC)please ping me
  • @Ottawahitech: I am still not entirely sure what you are referring to in your above comments, but I will try my best to answer both of your questions:
  • 1) I take issue with your wording of "duplicate information" as it is implying that I copied-and-pasted, or took sentences/information directly from the Shannen Doherty article, which would be incorrect. I would suggest you read through similar lists pertaining to an actor's filmography. The list of an actor's filmography contains information exclusively about his or her performances across multiple forms of media (film, television, stage work, web series, etc.), while the main article about the actor contains more information. The main article would include information about his or her acting career, but would also have information about the actor's early life and personal life, his or her work outside of film (several actors have music careers, or are prominent activists), any awards or nominations the actor received, and the actor's appearance in the public media. For instance, I would suggest comparing the differences between Angelina Jolie and Angelina Jolie filmography. The filmography page exclusively covers Jolie's film, television, music video, and video game appearances, while the main article on Jolie covers a lot more. I believe that a filmography page is appropriate for Doherty as she has been in enough programs to justify a separate page. The difference between the main Doherty page and the Doherty filmography page may not be as obvious as that for Jolie, because the main Doherty page is not in the greatest of conditions. However, you should still be able to see that the information about Doherty's personal life is absent from the filmography page, so there is a difference between the two of them. I apologize for the long response to the first question, but I thought I might as well go through everything from my point of view.
  • 2) Regarding your question "Who makes sure that both the list and the article are kept up-to-date?", that applies to every single article and list on Wikipedia. It is up to the contributors/users to keep the articles up-to-date and correct, so I do not see how this is an issue directly related to this list. Aoba47 (talk) 18:11, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@Aoba47: Please don’t read more into my words than what I said. I am not trying to insinuate anything in regards to your editing. Films and actors are a subject I rarely seek out at Wikipedia, and I was surprised to see how well this area is organized. Actually I wanted to thank you for educating me and other editors following this thread about Filmographies which as I found out are a specialized type of wp:Timelines.. More at another date (if I can find the time). Ottawahitech (talk) 16:50, 11 November 2016 (UTC)please ping me
  • @Ottawahitech: I was only responding to your message. As I have previously said, this list was created and organized around FL for other actors' discographies. I am not sure if that is anything else that I can add about this. Aoba47 (talk) 18:29, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

A number of page moves

This is about removing "...in the world" from articles.

Could a few editors please go to Talk:List of oldest schools#Move and weigh in? I would ask editors from the RfC, but they were all supports, so it would not be neutral. Many thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:58, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

In that galaxy? There are zillions of schools, most of them utter rubbish. In fact, that whole galaxy is considered rubbish according to Galaxy Millenially magazine. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:37, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
Well, if Wikipedia ever starts a list of the shittiest, most broken down schools right here on our own cruddy ball of rock, I've got a few to add to the list... lNeverCry 06:20, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
Good point. Take Detroit's Rubbish High for example. What a dump! With a name like that, they were just asking for it. They were going to name it after John D. Winner but decided to honor Chuck Rubbish. Bad call. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:30, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

"Applications of" articles

There seem to be a number of 'Applications of' type articles in Wikpedia, and as far as I can see they should be treated as 'List of uses of' articles. Is there some standard about variants of 'list of' like this, and are there a number of other ways of saying 'list of' used in WIkipedia? Dmcq (talk) 10:51, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

List of cider brands

This list is a walking advertisement. It should be cleaned up thoroughly and all redlinks removed. As I see it, references do not belong there but in their respective articles, and any entry without an article should go. If there is no opposition, or discussion, or interest, I will remove all redlinks and clean this spammy-mess myself in a few days time. Opinions, and help, would be appreciated. -- Alexf(talk) 10:22, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
