Draft:Olson Communications Inc.

Speedily deleted G7, but the questions the principal author is asking about it at the Articles for creation help desk and at the Teahouse suggest that at least one other editor has contributed to it, even if only in the form of explaining what was wrong with it. This also appears to be the source of a cut-and-paste move to Olson Communications Inc., with the G7 possibly intended to conceal the history of the page. Undeletion would be appreciated so that what is going on can be untangled. There will be plenty of opportunity to delete it from draft later. —Worldbruce (talk) 23:23, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

File:Fatherland-Nebe.jpg

This file was originally listed as a fair use image in SS-Oberst-Gruppenführer to illustrate the appearance of the rank insignia in media, specifically the black SS uniform in film. A discussion about this was also held here. The matter (now three years ago), was quickly dropped when the deletion nominator became upset and made hostile statements, threatened to use their admin powers to block others in the discussion [1] then admitted they were holding resentment about a previous matter from about a year before that [2]. The deletion discussion then abruptly ended. Its since been determined this image is most likely under copyright, but could be allowed in the article under fair use to illustrate the appearance of the insignia in media. Note: I am not wishing to revisit what was said three years ago between editors; only that I was recently contacted about why this image was removed and wish to see if this deletion can be given another look. -O.R.Comms 21:06, 11 October 2017 (UTC) —O.R.Comms 21:06, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

  • You'll need to take this to deletion review, this page is only for undoing uncontroversial deletions and this was deleted as the result of a deletion discussion (the deleting admin appears to be inactive). Personally I don't think you're going to get very far by arguing that this should be restored as fair use. Hut 8.5 21:14, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
    • Thank you, I might actually just leave this one alone. There was a lot of anger about this three years ago and I don't want to reopen feuds and bad feelings. -O.R.Comms 21:18, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

It seems to be a valid deletion, which doesn't mean the contents are useless, but deleted per wp:deny. Frabkly, I'm not fully sure what our policy is regarding restoration. I have a vague recollection that it be permitted if someone else, i.e. you, take responsibility but I'm not quite sure how that works.--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:57, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi Sphilbrick - we can restore it if someone else is willing to take responsibility, however if we're not comfortable restoring something created by a sockpuppet we can always email the content or paste a copy of the content in someone's userspace, if we don't want to deny the sockmaster recognition. I know that I've done that on more than one occasion. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:43, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

  • We will need confirmation from an OTRS agent that the permission is valid before restoring this. Same goes for the image below. Hut 8.5 20:12, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
@Hut 8.5: Well, the OTRS permission letter was in Persian, but Google Translate revealed the contents to be a release under the terms of GFDL 1.2 or newer. The email was signed with the author's links (Facebook and Wikipedia) including a Yahoo email address, which don't really do anything to confirm his identity, but I think we can assume good faith that the person is who he claims to be. The image isn't a self-portrait or photograph, but a creative work. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:30, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
Well the image is a book cover, unless the book is self-published I think the copyright is likely to be with the publisher rather than the author. I don't think GFDL 1.2 is sufficient for a 2011 upload in any case. Hut 8.5 06:43, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

  •   Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WWICS Group of Companies, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:59, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

The file was speedy deleted as F5: Unused non-free media file for more than 7 days in 2016. - The template fields in the article had been messed up by a user at that time, making it impossible for the image to be displayed. List of Powerhouse Films releases

The aim of the page is to create an article exactly the same as that which exists for Arrow Films found here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_Films. Powerhouse Films is also a UK distributor of classic, horror, and cult films on Blu-ray and DVD. If a page is required for Powerhouse Films similar to that of Arrow Films this can also be created e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_Films. It would useful to understand why these pages are allowed but not for those of Powerhouse Films as the aim in creating such pages is to serve the same function. —Rockwell05 (talk) 18:04, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

The article was created by a colleague at our museum and subsequently expanded by myself. We are also going to add further scientists, who fulfill the relevance criteria, from our institution and other German paleontological and biological research institutions, because we noted a striking absence of German living scientists in our field of activity, compared to those of other countries (e.g. Michael S. Engel, David Grimaldi, Alexandr Pavlovich Rasnitsyn). I know that Wikipedia:Autobiography discourages (but does not prohibit) editing pages about oneself. As long as the edits are not obviously biased, fulfill the relevance criteria, and are supplied with valid sources, I see no problem with that.--Dr. Günter Bechly (talk) 11:06, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

"odonate phylogeny" is the evolutionary relationships and fossil history of dragonflies and damselflies (insect order Odonata). There is actually a section on phylogeny in nearly every article on systematic groups of organisms. I am currently adding more content on odonate phylogeny to Wikipedia, e.g. recently the page for the fossil dragonfly family Stenophlebiidae. Next will be a page for Tarsophlebiidae. Greetings--Dr. Günter Bechly (talk) 17:18, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Notability?

With all respects to the subject, are they notable enough to have their own page? By way of comparison, Volker Mosbrugger, the head of the Senckenberg museum, and also a paleontologist, doesn't have his own page. Oharar (talk) 13:17, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

That seems to be a good point, there aren't many secondary sources that cover Mr. Bechly. Thus may be worth nominating for deletion. For the same reason I have not tried to write an article for the preeminent myrmecologist Gennady Dlussky even though he was one of the for most ant and fossil ant taxonomist of this century.--Kevmin § 15:11, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
  • By our usual standards I think he does meet WP:PROF., and I intend to write an article some time this year, since I frequently writearticles on scientists. As for Mossburger, the head of a major museum has always been found notable at WP. As for Dlussky essentially everyone who's ever described new taxa has been. Secondary sources that meet GNG are not needed for people who meet WP:PROF, which can be shown by citations alone, and has been so used in thousands of discussions, with fewer than 1% of aberrant decisions. The exceptions have usually been where there is some reason why people are looking for an excuse to delete. For the subject to push for getting an article has often been considered a reason., and I suggest that Dr. Bechly should stay completely uninvolved in this. DGG ( talk ) 15:10, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Cliff Chapman

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below —The Magic Wanderer (talk) 11:51, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Cliff Chapman - "unsuccessful actor" is libellous and career damaging. Cliff Chapman works as an actor, represented by Meredith Westwood Management Ltd and London Voiceover, and regularly books work with amongst other employers, The Black Library, part of the Worldwide Brand Games Workshop limited, as a voiceover actor, as well as Big Finish for their Pathfinder Legends audio drama range, again based on an international brand game. Recent commercial clients include Dulux paint for a voiceover to a web ad. An actor is not only successful if they appear in Hollywood movies or top rated TV shows. An actor is successful if he or she continues to earn a living. Cliff Chapman has a valid IMDB, UK Spotlight page, Equity union membership, and many 2017 credits.

Cliff Chapman also appeared in The Future Boys Trilogy of stage shows and subsequent successful Kickstarter funded audio comedy-dramas. The writer, Steve Jordan has a Wikipedia page. Cliff Chapman is referenced on this. Therefore surely the actor is entitled to a page?

Once again, to delete the page with ref: "Unsuccessful actor" is immeasurably career-damaging and NOT correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Magic Wanderer (talkcontribs) 11:51, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

@The Magic Wanderer: The article was deleted with the reason "Article about a real person, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". That is an objective statement of fact. Nowhere does it say "unsuccessful actor." Don't invent claims of libel where none exist.

Greetings,

Hope all is well. I have been handed your information from a colleague of mine in regards to our company's wikipedia page that I understand has been deleted/taken offline.

Please assist me with figuring out how we get our page back up and running successfully?

Greatly appreciate your help and hoping we can expedite this process.

Please advise how we proceed?

Thanks again,

  • Clarification needed. @Sw2016: Are you requesting that the article be restored to the main encyclopedia, or are you requesting the history be restored into draft space (i.e., to Draft:Russell Harrison (inventor))? I'm happy to do the latter, since the AfD indicated that the article might be improvable. However, it's clear from the community that an article about Harrison is not warranted at this time. —C.Fred (talk) 14:50, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

This page should not be speedily deleted because this article is not unambiguous promotion and has been written from a neutral point of view; it also provides references and includes specific page numbers of bibliography consulted. This article is about a notable writer/artist who is already mentioned in many wikipedia articles(MBQ,Peepo Choo,Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)). --˜˜˜˜ —Kailey.marie.valentine (talk) 07:01, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Articles that were deleted and which are currently up for deletion as well

Hi, I am Wikipedia editor and I would like to say that a lot of articles like these ones Death of Aisling Symes, Disappearance of Carla Losey, Disappearance of David Guerrero, Anna Christian Waters, were deleted and these articles Vernon Jones, Category:Deceased American professional wrestlers, Category:Deceased English professional wrestlers, Category:Deceased English professional wrestlers are currently up for deletion. I would like to say that people who I listed were people who went missing whose disappearance WAS very notable, and the reasons that people gave for deleting them were NOT good ones. Their claims that most of the sources that I used were only local doesn't make sense to me, as most news does not make world wide news. With the exception of one person who I just met yesterday EVERYRONE ELSE who I know personally says that local news is still notable (some of the sources which I used though were not just local) and the deletion of the articles was wrong. One editor claims that make an article on dead people could get too massive, but look at this article Category:Living people which is totally massive, I think that is a poor argument, I also think there is something wrong with the deletion process and what makes these people's judgement's right in what they are claiming shouldn't be kept? I feel that this is a form of bullying and harassment and think it should stop as there should be stricter guideline against unnecessary deletion. I would like to know if I have a valid complaint, if can these articles be restored, and if we can have stricter policies against unnecessary deletion? Davidgoodheart (talk) 02:03, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Articles deleted via XfD are not eligible for undeletion here. This is also not a place for general discussion. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:27, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Where exactly do I go then? Davidgoodheart (talk) 03:40, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
That depends. Deletion review is the venue for overturning XfDs. If WP:DRVPURPOSE applies, then follow WP:DELREVD. To discuss the various deletion processes/policies/guidelines, start a discussion on the process/policy/guideline's talk page. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:11, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Or back to User talk:Iridescent where the issue was first raised. If there was a "should I make an article on this?" noticeboard that would be the best place but we don't have such a thing. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:52, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Cultural Health

Please Reinstate this article because the argument for deletion is that “Cultural Health" does not exist. This is contrary to the fact. Cultural Health is a widely used term in the Unites States where I live, to include the United States Government. See Think “Cultural Health” https://www.thinkculturalhealth.hhs.gov

Not to mention more then 58 million hits in a google search of which other Wikipedia articles on aspects of this very subject are prominent in the search results. millions have viewed this Cultural Health article on Wikipedia and there has been discussion on the talk page but non that I recall about the existence of Cultural Health as a widely used term in the USA.

If you wish for me to utilize the US government as a reference i will be glad to. please reinstate — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aunk (talkcontribs) 19:37, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Narada_News

Narada news is a media platform which in a short period could establish its place in Indian Journalism. The media hold the major agenda against corruption, fascism, racism and superstitious beliefs still existing in India. Narada news works in a mode similar to the performance of non-governmental organizations structure In 2016 March 14 when Narada news published the anti-corruption sting operations to public, Kolkatta high court and Supreme court of India did order probe into it. All those featured in narada sting tapes were found accepting bribe from a representative of a fictitious company. Currently, the two major investigative agencies of the country CBI and Enforcement Directorate are on prime charge of investigating the corruptions of Senior politicians found in Narada News revelations. The investigations continue to go on —Naisamkp (talk) 15:51, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Not done. We don't restore unambiguously promotional articles here. If you want, you may start over from scratch in your sandbox, user space, or draft space (such as Draft:Narada News) and submit it for review via Wikipedia:Articles for creation.
Also, Wikipedia doesn't have articles about media platforms that "could establish its place" in journalism. The subject of an article must comply with WP:CORP inclusion criteria now, not at some unknown time in the future. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:14, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
