Reinstatement of PRODs

Any editor - even the article creator - can remove PRODs. You should not replace them. I'm taking all those articles to AfD; bear with me. Ros0709 (talk) 18:32, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I see you gave the editor a final warning for this and got him blocked - I think that was not justified. Can you contact the blocking admin and discuss? Ros0709 (talk) 18:50, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I'll do it right away. --Theleftorium (talk) 18:51, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

AfC

Hi there!

As the articles created from WP:AfC are not written by you, you must explicitly credit the actual author in the edit summary, otherwise the clause in the GFDL licensing agreement (the authors of the work must be attributed), is broken. There's a specific edit summary suggestion on the AfC reviewing instructions:

I've fixed one of your recent AfC article submissions to make it GFDL compliant, by crediting the ip who wrote the article. If you've created any other articles at AfC, could you let me know? Thanks. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:20, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Oh, thanks for doing that! Stupid me was looking at the history page of Wikipedia:Articles for creation instead of Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Today and couldn't find the IP. That is also the first AfC article I've created. --Theleftorium (talk) 11:36, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
No worries! You did everything else perfectly :). Seraphim♥Whipp 11:43, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually, as I've just left you that message, would you mind taking a look at a template I've written for the same purpose? I don't want to scare people away from AfC, and I certainly don't want the message to come across rude or condescending. Seraphim♥Whipp 11:48, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, your original template didn't come across as rude to me. =) It might had done to some other people though, so the new template will come across as less condescending and rude to them. --Theleftorium (talk) 12:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
I had a feeling that the pronouns in the first sentence sounded a bit off :/. I appreciate your input :). Seraphim♥Whipp 12:14, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

I'm fine, thank you. How are you? Thank you for signing my signatures page! --Shruti14 t c s 22:27, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to The Simpsons WikiProject

Hello, thank you for becoming a member of The Simpsons WikiProject. The Project has been around for over a year and has seen many Simpsons related articles improved exponentially. The Call of the Simpsons

In reply to your comment on Wikiproject The Simpsons's talk, the article looks like a GA at this point. You should seriously consider nominating it for GA. Otherwise, great work!--LAAFan 18:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

OK then. I will, thanks. =) TheLeftorium 08:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Bartman Paperback

Hey, the contents of the Bartman paperback is not as you state; it contains Bartman #1-3, Itchy & Scratchy #3 and Simpsons Comics #5. It's also worth noting it was later rereleased under the name "Simpsons Comics Featuring Bartman: Best of the Best"[1]. For these reasons, I would integrate it into the Simpsons Comics trade paperbacks section (a la "Simpsons Comics Royale"), but I'll leave it up to you (though the contents certainly need correcting). Cheers, rst20xx (talk) 18:38, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Also, you're missing the Simpsons Comics Holiday Humdinger[2] which my sources say contain "Simpsons Comics #15 (main story), #52, #79, the Itchy and Scratchy Holiday Hi-Jinx Special and a variety of new Christmas-themed Simpsons comics/features" - rst20xx (talk) 18:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Fixed. Thanks for letting me know! TheLeftorium 20:23, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

that image doesn't fit in there

Why? —Do U(knome)? yes...or no 04:36, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Those images were of three medalists; one gold medalist, one silver medalist and one bronze medalist. You can't just replace the silver medalist image with an image of three medalists. But that doesn't matter anymore anyway as they're in a gallery now. TheLeftorium 08:04, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Homer's Night Out

Hi, I am reviewing Homer's Night Out for GA. I left a couple of comments about the plot on the GA review page for the article. (I have never seen a Simpsons episode!) Britney picture

Good try. Unfortunately, I went and did a little detective work on the Flickr page. Looks like the uploader uploads other people's work and claims it as his own. The history of this image shows that it is copyrighted by Splashnews.com, and I can't find any sign that they released it. Kww (talk) 16:38, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Walk of Fame image

Users at commons keep removing the retouch you did because it is of lower resolution than the original version. Do you think you could redo it in the original 3,189 × 2,398 size? I don't think you need to remove the damaged spots this time, just straigtening it would be perfect. -- Scorpion0422 14:29, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

GA reviews

Hi there. You are clearly more than capable of writing good articles, in fact, they were of the best quality I've seen. The GAN backlog is currently about as big as it has been in five months. Since you are able to write GAs, I wondered if you may be interested to help out with some reviews. Peanut4 (talk) 13:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

No worries. In the meantime, keep up the good writing. It's of a very good standard. Peanut4 (talk) 14:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Bart vs. Australia

Hi, why did you delete the reference to Azaria Chamberlain in the Bart v. Australia article? I didn't add it myself, but it looked appropriate and in the right section. Was it a mistake? Should I add it back? Does it need improvement? Cheers --Sumthingweird (talk) 21:12, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Lisa's First Word

Hi, I'm pleased to inform you that I just promoted "Lisa's First Word", an article you have been a significant contributor to, to good article standard. Thought you might want to know. Well, bye. Tezkag72 (talk) 02:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Gif

Hi, are you any good at gifs? Because I could use one for the Lisa article I'm working on. I added the following paragraph to it:

To draw Lisa's head and hair, most of the animators use what they refer to as the "three-three-two arrangement". They draw a sphere, with intersecting curving lines (one vertical, one horizontal) in the middle to indcate her eyeline. They take the middle line running vertically, and continue the line outside of the sphere to draw one hair point, then two more going towards the back of her head. After that, they add two more points in front (in the direction Lisa is facing), then three more behind it.

To a non-Simpsons fan, it is just downright confusing and thus an image is needed. So, I added this one from the illustrated commentary for Summer of 4 Ft. 2, in which Mark Kirkland demonstrates the method. I asked for some feedback, and some users suggested that an animate gif which shows the steps would be better. It would only need to be about seven images drawn using a graphis program, each illustrating one of the steps. I would prefer if it was demonstrated without using screenshots, but if you wanted you could just use them. Do you think you can do it? To learn how to do it, you need the season 7 DVDs. The commentary is on the fourth disk in the extras under "a bit from the animators", it's towards the end, about 6-8 minutes in. Thanks, Scorpion0422 04:08, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah sure, do it whenever you are ready. -- Scorpion0422 14:07, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
It actually looks better than I thought it would, but you should follow how they do it on the commentary. They do the middle three points first, then the front three, then the back two. -- Scorpion0422 17:28, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Better, but could you maybe make the middle three points so that the one closest to the front continues from the horizontal line? -- Scorpion0422 20:41, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Much better. Could you make the points a little more straight an uniform in size? After that, I'd say it's done. Thanks a lot! -- Scorpion0422 21:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

One thing I just thought of (and feel free to ignore this), but people may wonder why we use an abnormal pose of Lisa. Would you possibly be able to do it on a normal image of Lisa? -- Scorpion0422 23:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Excellent! Very good. However, one thing I just noticed is that the circle is much larger than her head, could you possibly make it smaller? Either way, it's very good and if I hadn't recently given you a barnstar, I would definitely give you another for that image. -- Scorpion0422 14:55, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
It'll do. Excellent job! Upload it whenever you think it's ready and replace the image currently on Lisa's page (just copy the rationale I used for that one). Remember that it will be a non-free license (I'd say use the promotional tag, but note that you made the gif). -- Scorpion0422 15:20, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I'm sorry for being so indecisive, but could you possibly move the circle higher up into the head so the points are basically coming out of it? Maybe make it so that the circle matches up with her right eye. I promise this is the last change I'll request, and you are more than welcome to slap me with a trout once you are finished. -- Scorpion0422 15:25, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

  Scorpion0422's Not-so-Golden Woodpecker Award
For putting up with my constantly changing mind and making an excellent gif (hopefully some jerk won't declare it "decorative" and remove it), you are the recipient of just the second ever Golden Woodpecker Award. -- Scorpion0422 22:04, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

It was just pointed out to me that the passage says the lines in the circle "indcate her eyeline" (ie. where the pupils should go) but this is not reflected in the image. Could you fix this? (Maybe move her pupils down if possible, they are rather high in that shot. -- Scorpion0422 15:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Could you take a look at Bart Simpson and Marge Simpson? "But don't be readin' my mind between 4 and 5, that's Willie's time!" -- Zombie Scorpion0422 18:19, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't think I would have passed the GA, if I was reviewing it. There isn't enough in the production section, outside the casting subsection. Can you add more? CTJF83Talk 18:27, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

And Season Six Makes Five

Nah, I was just joking around, you can have it. I'll do with A Star is Burns (which could be a good one due to the Groening controversy). BTW, it looks like we could have this season done by the end of the year. What season do we do next? Season 10 has the most GAs, but I dislike a lot of those episodes, and Scully REALLY sucks on commentary. There are 3 season 7 GAs (4 including WSMB), 2 from season 5 (plus 1 FA, and Rosebud is practically ready to go, I'm just too lazy to finish it) and 2 a piece from seasons 2 and 3. My vote is for season 7, it's one of my favourite seasons and it is more recent than others. I would be okay with any of the others though. -- Scorpion0422 19:31, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, Flanders did kind of fall off the map during the Oakley/Weinstein era, one of the few bad things about it. We could do season 5 - lots of Flanders in that one, plus it has a FA. -- Scorpion0422 19:42, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I definitely think we shouldn't do season 10. I can't bare to listen to Mike "the fans are all wrong and this episode is great, my God I'm the best showrunner ever, look how many characters I named after my daughters" Scully, ever again. I don't mind whether we do season 5 or 7 as I love them both, and Mirkin and Bill/Josh are great. If I had to pick, I'd go for seven. Gran2 19:51, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
You should be happy with season 11 then Gran, he doesn't even mention his daughters and he actually acknowledges that Kill the Alligator and Run and Saddlesore Gallactica are a tad crazy and aren't beloved by fans (he doesn't go as far as admitting that they suck though). -- Scorpion0422 19:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Dennō Senshi Porygon

Nice job with the article. You should probably take it to WP:GAN soon, unless you're already planning to do that. I was watching the Simpsons episode that references this, which is how I ended up on it. Gary King (talk) 22:16, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

TRAITOR! At one point (in early 2007), our goal was to catch up with the Pokemon project. At the time, they had something like 3 FAs and 30 GAs. Now, they have 6 GAs and we have 121. My, how the times change. -- Scorpion0422 17:13, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

How did they lose so many GAs? In October 2007, the oldest statistics I could find, they had 0 FAs and 6 GAs. Hasn't changed much since then, that's for sure. I'm guessing it might be a bit more difficult to find English sources for non-in-universe information for the series. Gary King (talk) 18:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Raging Abe

I had been preparing to do that one, but you can go ahead. this is one of the paintings that is shown in the episode that went missing during World War II. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a reference that confirms it (the DVD commentators confirm they based the painting on an existing one, but don't mention specifics). Maybe you'll have better luck finding a ref (or you could just include it anyway). -- Scorpion0422 16:17, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I was hoping you would pick Lisa the Vegetarian, because that should be a really good one. It won a pair of awards (Genesis and EMA) , and it is a favourite of environmentalists, so you should be able to put together a good reception section. Be sure to search websites for environmentalist organizations that might not show up in Newsbank/Google News such as PETA's site and the American Humane Society. -- Scorpion0422 16:32, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

By the way, would you mind giving your opninion here? A user has been adding a pair of games that I am pretty sure he made. They get less than 100 google hits, and aren't official and don't belong. But, he's not convinced. -- Scorpion0422 16:49, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

You know, once Gary has The Day the Violence Died done, we'll have every Itchy & Scratchy episode to GA status (except maybe Treehouse of Horror IX). Potential mini GT? Gran and I discussed it a while back (which is why I did I&S Land and I&S&M) but we both lost interest. The Itchy & Scratchy Show is in okay shape right now, (because I added some commentary info a while back) and we might be able to get it into GA shape in pretty short order. What do you think? -- Scorpion0422 20:49, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I've started fiddling around with it at my seldom used fourth sandbox, feel free to do whatever you like to it. This one has to be treated a bit differently as the page is about the show and not just the characters. I would like to have a section on Roger Meyers so his redirect can be redirected there, and I would also like a "parallels to Disney" section. -- Scorpion0422 01:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Looking for Simpsons production info for a few articles

Hey Leftorium, if you've got time could you help me beef up the Production section for a few Simpsons articles I'm working on? Specifically, Two Dozen and One Greyhounds, The Day the Violence Died, and Bart the Mother. I don't have access to the DVDs, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :D Gary King (talk) 17:47, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay thanks; do you think there will be enough information to bring it to featured article status, or is the production information on the episode sorely lacking? Gary King (talk) 18:07, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Hm, it's really difficult finding an episode that has enough material for an FA. Gary King (talk) 18:18, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I might be able to get my hands on commentary for "Greyhounds" and "Violence", so I'm looking for notes on "Mother" now. Gary King (talk) 19:35, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh alright, Season 7 it is then. Gary King (talk) 20:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Awesome, thanks! Gary King (talk) 22:42, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Feel free to use that image if you think it's best. I have little experience working on television episode articles, so I'm not so sure which scene to depict in screenshots. Gary King (talk) 00:36, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay thanks, done, using templates. Gary King (talk) 17:44, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Good idea, done. I've nominated the article. Gary King (talk) 17:59, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

← Even though I think the article is ready for GAN, I'm still looking for material to expand it—preferably the Cultural references and Reception sections. Gary King (talk) 18:18, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Awesome thanks, I'll use those. I've been browsing some books online for production information. How did you find those reviews? Just Google for the episode title? Also, are they all considered reliable sources, as I'm thinking of maybe expanding the article enough to make it a featured article. Gary King (talk) 19:18, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Are there any good places I could go to to beef up the "Cultural references" section? Gary King (talk) 19:41, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks; what's the page number? (Ah found it, page 200.) I just realized that I bought this book when it first came out—that was what, ten years ago? I'll see if I can find it, but it's probably lost somewhere at my place. Gary King (talk) 20:07, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words

Nice work on the article. I have done some clean up, added ratings info, and a few refs. I think it is GAC ready, but I'll let you nominate it since you did most of the grunt work. -- Scorpion0422 15:23, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Another thing, should we mention that Duffman was been "outed" in the episode? It has received coverage from several LGBT publications. [3] Of course, The Simpsons does jokes like that all the time, so is a one-off joke really that notable in this case? I would say no, but the LGBT project has a history of magnifying such jokes into major character traits (for example, the Rod & Todd article once contained a huge section dedicated to their sexuality... There have been like 4 sporadic jokes about it in the show), so it could become a contentious issue. -- Scorpion0422 15:46, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Lisa the Vegetarian

Amazing job on the article! I wish my other articles had as much Production information :) Gary King (talk) 18:02, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Bloody hell, that's impressive. You really are one of the best at episode pages Left. Gran2 20:40, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
I'll run through it when I have time, but it is certainly FA material. Gran2 20:52, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, excellent job. I guess the hippies environmentalists really do love the episode. By the way, what do you think of The Itchy & Scratchy Show? Ignore the lead, reception and merchandise sections. -- Scorpion0422 20:08, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks, I will finish the rest of it up soon, I just want to do a couple GA reviews first. :P -- Cirt (talk) 16:24, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Homie the Clown

Well that commentary was better than I remembered it. Anyway, this is ready to go, soif you have time, could you possibly cast your eye over it? Thanks. Gran2 17:09, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks. I shall nominate it now! Gran2 17:26, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Looks good, although you may want to get a better lead image. Gran2 21:13, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Two Dozen and One Greyhounds

A few things in Cultural References don't have references; are they unavailable? Gary King (talk) 22:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Can you remove whatever is unreferenceable, since I'm not so sure myself? For instance, there is this part: "On the DVD commentary, Matt Groening says..."; so surely it can be referenced to the DVD if this is true? Gary King (talk) 20:33, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I just remembered that you asked me to add some info about Rooney. I don't have access to my book at the moment, but hopefully I can get to that tonight. P.S. Check NHC. Thanks, Scorpion0422 18:56, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

The Simpsons Hit & Run

Okay, I think we can get started with this now. Same as The Simpsons Game, could you work on Gameplay and Plot while I get to work on Development and Reception? It should be done in no time :) Gary King (talk) 22:12, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

I was a bit busy today, but I managed to squeak in some time to work on the Reception section. I spit and polished it in my word processor, but it might still be rough around the edges—feel free to check it out and give it a look-see. Gary King (talk) 04:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

What games do you like?

Are you interested in any of the The Legend of Zelda (series) games? Gary King (talk) 02:10, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you very much! I'll get to that next review tonight (or sometime in the morning, UTC) as I'm about to go out. :)97198 (talk) 03:06, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Gameplay and Plot still need to be copyedited. Gary King (talk) 22:43, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Two Emmys

I see that you have been working on Grampa's article. Well, Dan Castellaneta has won 2 Emmys for voicing Grampa: the one for "Today I Am A Clown" as well as the first one he won for, I believe, "Homer Defined".
