Monster Hunter World - a main series game or a spinoff? edit

I'm not that well versed in the Monster Hunter franchise, but from what I've gathered, the team behind Monster Hunter 4 (the main series) is behind this, which would imply it's the first main title in the next generation (whereas Generations/X and XX are still from the 4th generation). Can Monster Hunter fans explain what defines a mainline Monster Hunter and why this one is a spinoff, platform bias and local co-op aside (since up to Tri, it didn't have local co-op)? Right now, I don't think we have enough info yet. Spinoffs have generally features very different gameplay modes compared to the standard hunting approach, but that's not 100% true (Frontiers). Capcom will likely push more out this week so we'll have a better idea, but right now, it feels as a main game in the series. There's no narrative structure, so it's hard to go by that. --MASEM (t) 06:07, 13 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Open world edit

The article says it is an open world game, yet it is not part of the open world video games category. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalheadgamer (talkcontribs) 03:36, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
