Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Tears have been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 03:03, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Taking Out The Trash. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Roberto Pietri. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), patent nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. twotwofourtysix(My talk page and contributions) 03:19, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Other accounts

What other accounts have you used at Wikipedia?--Bbb23 (talk) 12:08, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

I was thinking the same thing. Plus, I'm been asking myself whether your user name isn't a violation. Drmies (talk) 13:54, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Only one other named account, dormant since 2017. Plus a handful of IPs over the years. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 14:07, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
I don't believe you, but putting that aside for the moment, you need to use meaningful edit summaries when you edit; your current edit summaries are not only unhelpful but borderline disruptive, regardless of the merits of your edits.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:50, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
I thought those summaries were better just "rvv" but I guess not. Seems like folks don't have any sense of humor. Oh well. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 16:35, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Why this?

In this edit your edit summary was simply rvv (presumably "reverting vandalism"), but the changes by the IP editor were not vandalism, and were, in fact, a somewhat useful update of mere list data to more detailed tabular data. Why the revert? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:25, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Looks like I might have reverted one revision too deep - I was trying to simply revert the section blanking. I've undone my action for now. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 12:29, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
  • This edit of yours is also not reverting vandlism. Its actually borderline disruptive if considered with the edit summary. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:03, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Taking Out The Trash,

You are a very new editor and are too inexperienced to be moving pages around, especially drafts of articles that are being worked on by other editors or determining what is "trash" and what is not.

If you have a previous account, you need to disclose this on your User page. If you have questions about policy and process on Wikipedia, please bring your concerns to the Teahouse where experienced editors can address them. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:44, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

I did have a previous account (see a few sections above)... this account is a WP:CLEANSTART and if I am interpreting the policy correctly, I am not required to declare the previous account. I have more experience and background than the age of my user account alone would suggest. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 15:58, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

List of Old Wives Tales

Just going to let you know that me adding an AFD tag to List of Old Wives Tales accidentally replaced your PROD tag. It looks like you added it while I was adding the AFD tag with Twinkle, and it was replaced within seconds of yours. Waddles 🗩 🖉 20:20, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

No worries. Twinkle is pretty bad at handling edit conflicts. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 17:32, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Muthoottu Mini

Hi TOTT, Iam appreciating the valuable contributions of you. I have added a page for a leading business firm in India - Muthoottu Mini. I have also added some references. I do not know why it was Proposed to deletion. I'm new to the wiki. I do not know how to handle this. Please help me with this. Jaziya Majeed (talk) 10:04, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sambaa Siva

The article Sambaa Siva has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Liz Read! Talk! 19:33, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Taking Out The Trash,
I want to explain this notice. You moved this article to Draft space and tagged this page for deletion. But before it could be deleted, an editor turned it back into an article. Since you did the initial move, you are credited as the page creator and that's who Twinkle sends the notice to. I hope this explains it. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 02:32, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Username concern

Hi Taking Out The Trash, your username may cause offense to good-faith contributors whose edits are reverted by you: They may think that you consider their contribution "trash". This concern is not serious enough to require a change, but if you agree (perhaps one day, even), you may like to request a username change at Special:GlobalRenameRequest at any time.   ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:10, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

The fact that you haven't even bothered to reply to this comment (even with a "fuck off") leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, and leads me to believe that you are not interested in cooperating with others. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:49, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

I didn't feel that a response was necessary, considering that ToBeFree specifically indicated that my username was not in violation of policy. I read the message, and took the feedback on board. I've thought about changing the name, but I just can't think of anything else that I like (and I don't have email anyway, so I can't use the form linked even if I wanted to). Rollback granted

Hi Taking Out The Trash. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2021-10-17. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! GeneralNotability (talk) 00:03, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Tagging pages for deletion

Hello, Taking Out The Trash,

Just a reminder that every time you tag a page for deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/RFD/TFD/etc.), you must place a notice on the talk page of the page creator informing them that the page has been tagged and the reason for the deletion. Otherwise, they have no way of knowing what happened. You must do this if you are tagging pages for deletion, it is part of the deletion process. If you make use of Twinkle and set your Preferences to "Notify page creator", then Twinkle will post the notices for you which makes things convenient.

Also, if you come across a page like Template:Umayyad Victory, a page that has been created in the wrong name space, the correct action to take is not to tag the page for deletion but to move the page to the correct name space and then post a note to the page creator to let them know where they can find the page. Please do this in the future. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:35, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

If you are already using Twinkle, make sure you have all CSD criteria boxes checked in your Preferences. I think sometimes Twinkle, by default, only has a few CSD criteria, like A7 and G11, checked. They need to be all checked for Twinkle to regularly post notices. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:43, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
@Liz: I thought that I did have all of the notifications enabled, except for the ones that don't actually have a notification template associated with them (G5, G6, G7, U1, U2, R2 to name a few). I double check the preferences panel to be sure, though. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 11:49, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

And, on a related topic, please don't tag so quickly. The creator was obviously still working on that article, so you should have waited until that process was finished before deciding what to do. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:42, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

I'll admit that I am perhaps more liberal than some with the application of sticky PROD tags. However, it is my belief that nobody should be creating a BLP without sources. All BLPs need to have at least one source immediately upon creation, period. If at least one source isn't available, create it in draft space or user space and then move it to main space once you have the source. "Adding sources in future edits" doesn't cut it on BLPs that are live in main space. My intent of sticky PROD tag applications is to alert the author that they need to add a source immediately, before they do anything else. Judging by the fact that most of the articles I've tagged were subsequently referenced in a short time, including this most recent example, my approach seems to be working. WP:UAA

Usernames are shared across all the WMF's projects. Some of those projects permit corporate usernames. Until a user edits this project their username is not subject to this project's restrictions. Cabayi (talk) 16:19, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Some projects allow corporate usernames? Wow, that's news to me. Always thought that corporate usernames were prohibited globally by the WMF. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 13:45, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
  • c:Commons:Username policy#Organizations - "Use of the names of organizations is allowed on Commons only if you verify your account, proving that you are or represent the respective organization."
  • de:Hilfe:Benutzerkonto anlegen#Vorteile - "Du kannst verifiziert unter dem Namen einer Organisation, eines bekannten Produktes oder einer berühmten bzw. relevanten Persönlichkeit arbeiten." Google translation"You can work verified under the name of an organization, a well-known product or a famous or relevant person."
There may be more, but those two serve to show the point. Happy editing. Cabayi (talk) 14:00, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Taking Out The Trash (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 199.8.28.0/24. This is the same block that I previously reported earlier this month. I thought it was set to expire at the end of the month, but it turns out that it is ongoing until December(!). This IP address range isn't a proxy, but rather is a shared range among public locations within the city of Indianapolis (different addresses within this range are located within parks, cafes, etc.) As I stated previously, whenever I'm attempting to edit anywhere outside of my own personal residence, I keep running into this block. Please advise. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 16:35, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

If someone on the range is using software that enables the use of open proxies, we have no choice but to block it. If you'd like to be granted an exemption for this account (and you seem to have a good enough and long enough history to justify it), go to WP:IPECPROXY and follow the instructions there. — Daniel Case (talk) 18:10, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Taking Out The Trash, I have granted you IPBE for the duration of that IP range block. --Yamla (talk) 19:22, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Editor warnings

Hello, Taking Out The Trash,

You've been doing some great work on Wikipedia which is appreciated but I was surprised by the warning message you left on the talk page of The article and redirect creator. You state that if they make one more inappropriate page (like their silly redirects) they will be blocked. This would be fine to say if you were an administrator but you are still a relatively new editor and you can't follow through on this warning. Please do not threaten editors with blocks, it's always better for non-admin editors to say that another editor MAY be blocked than they WILL be blocked. Thanks again for all the work you do on the project! Liz Read! Talk! 20:26, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

@Liz: The warning I left did indeed say "May be blocked without further warning". All of the Twinkle Level 4 warnings are like that as far as I know. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 20:30, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

@Bbb23: It's already there (or at least Twinkle says it is) but this is urgent and needs immediate attention. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 16:47, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
You did the right thing, posting at ANI. RFPP reports can sometimes languish for half a day, and the page is obviously getting lots of views. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 21:45, 29 November 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert

Thanks for the heads up re: the IP that was blanking their own UTP. I'm familiar with the guideline related to users blanking their own talk pages, but in this case I just completely spaced out. (I didn't stop to take in what was going on, so I thought the user was blanking the article again, not their talk page.) I'm glad you were paying attention, because I sure wasn't! :) Larry Hockett (Talk) 22:36, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

List of North Korean websites

Hi, I already messaged the deleting admin about this at User talk:Bbb23#List of North Korean websites. Long story short, I believe the A7 criteria is easily surmountable by writing an adequate lead section. I was already drafting a talk page message about list inclusion criteria in my head (literally while taking out the trash, I kid you not) before the article was tagged. But before exhausting myself, I just wanted to hear your point of view. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 21:08, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

@Finnusertop: I agree with the deleting admin that I can't imagine what would make such a list notable. Even if the speedy was on the edge, I would have definitely WP:PRODed the page as WP:LISTCRUFT. It's going to take much more than a lede section to demonstrate notability. Generally very little web content is considered suitable for inclusion.
