You Rock

Thanks for your tireless efforts to fight vandalism, on Beast and elsewhere. Bry9000 (talk) 18:37, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks very much for those kind words. I see you do a good deal of wikignoming - you rock too :-)  —SMALLJIM  20:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Request For Rollback

I have fulfilled your request for rollback permissions. Please feel free to ask if I can help. Best Wishes. Pedro :  Chat  14:50, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Vandalisim from 165.29.119.62

Smalljim, you may want to check the logs again, they've received several final warnings, including an informal warning from me.

You may want to go ahead and turn them in for blocking.

Thanks.

Kendra\TALK! 19:55, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the pointer, Kendra. I've tidied up Talk:Love and issued another final warning to 165.29.119.62, this time for using talk pages for discussion. Maybe I'm just an ole' softie, but I'll be watching 'em now.  —SMALLJIM  20:24, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeaaah well, they're up to it again ;) This time, nonsensical comments on the Talk:Fallacy page. Whoever it is, is in on a Saturday and wanting to ruin things for everyone else. Oh, and Chrysler Building.
Kendra\TALK! 09:33, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
OK. I've reverted some vandalism on Talk:Fallacy from several days ago, (and on Fallacy, from someone else). I can't see any recent on Chrysler Building. As you've seen from the AIV report you logged earlier, admins won't block a user unless they are actively vandalising.[1] - see the guide.
But basically, don't worry about it - this is just one of the many vandals here, easily matched by the many users who regularly look out for vandalism (see for example Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit). The small amount of vandalism that goes undetected for some time is seen as an acceptable consequence of allowing anyone to edit Wikipedia (one of its Foundation Issues). If anyone sees vandalism, they're encouraged to revert it.
The warnings on a user page serve not only to warn the vandal, but are also useful for later vandal fighters to see if it's a new vandal or an "old hand". So I don't have any special affinity for 165.29.119.62, just because I've issued a couple of warnings. It's a collaborative effort. Hope this explains - let me know if I can help further.  —SMALLJIM  13:13, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Admin

Hi. I just wondered if you've considered becoming an admin. You seem experienced enough, so I'd be happy to nominate you if you're interested. Regards. Epbr123 (talk) 14:19, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind and surprising offer. I'd be happy to help WP as an admin, but could I ask you to check my "credentials" again, please. After looking at a few recent RfAs, I get the impression that I would be a rather borderline candidate: maybe it would be easier if I had a few more months' experience?  —SMALLJIM  11:36, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
I think you would have about a 75% chance of passing. You have good vandal-fighting experience, are experienced at guideline and policy discussions, and as far as I know you haven't any civility issues. The only problem would be your slight lack of article writing experience. If your RfA failed this time around you can still re-apply in a few months. The RfA would good experience for you, and will give you feedback on how your editing could be improved. Epbr123 (talk) 23:23, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Well you've accurately homed in on my main weakness there. I admit to being a very slow writer when not under pressure, mainly due to my bad habit of continually tinkering with what I've written and usually making it worse than my first draft. But that's one of the reasons I'm here - to work on correcting that shortcoming. OK then - thanks for the encouragement: let's give it a whirl... I'm off to bed now. If you catch this and set anything up, I'll tackle it in the (UK) morning.  —SMALLJIM  23:57, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Let me know once you've answered the questions on your RfA page and I'll get the nomination started. Try to make your answers as thorough as possible, and admit to any conflicts you've had. You can see how others have answered them at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. Also, avoid canvassing other users' talk-pages for support, as it will be frowned upon. Good luck. Epbr123 (talk) 00:40, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi

This may be worth a look (if you haven't already found it!). Complicated subject area but quite important I guess. Regards --Herby talk thyme 11:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Herby, I had seen that page, but hadn't noticed that you were listed there. Anyway, you've made me read the Lar criteria again, and its talk page, and User:NoSeptember/recall (revised yesterday), and WP:AAA (which I'd missed)… Honestly I couldn't sign up to Lar, not on Wikipedia - it comes across as more complex than any of our policies, even though most of it is procedural. I know it's well-intentioned, but if an editor who was upset with something I'd done landed on that page they would get completely the wrong impression about me. And I think the simpler formulations are potentially too open to abuse. I'd much rather subscribe to a process once it was ironed out and becoming popular, ideally after having had my say about it too. In the meantime I'd put something much softer on my user page; maybe it wouldn't actually mean anything, but it would to me - and that's what would matter.  —SMALLJIM  13:00, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I do agree - I don't like it but (to me) wikipedia is a bit like that. Frankly if a few folk I respected ask me I would let go without my thought. One of those "when I have time I will get something better done"! I'm planning to get some more pics when it dries up at all :) Regards --Herby talk thyme 13:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm going to have to work on that accountability statement now :-) Thanks for your help there. It has been a fine weekend - hope you've been out and gathered some more fine content for Commons!  —SMALLJIM  21:19, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

You are now an administrator

Congratulations, I have just closed your RfA as successful and made you an administrator. Take a look at the administrators' how-to guide and the administrators' reading list if you haven't read those already. Also, the practice exercises at the new admin school may be useful. If you have any questions, get in touch on my talk page. WjBscribe 14:26, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Congrats! I'm looking forward to working with you! Malinaccier (talk) 14:30, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

Well! Firstly my thanks are due to WJBScribe for dealing with the RfA result so quickly, and thank you Malinaccier for those kind wishes. In line with the last para of the guidance here, I'm not going to post messages to the talk pages of everyone who contributed, so I wish to express my thanks here to all those who !voted and asked questions in my successful RfA.  —SMALLJIM  21:00, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Teign Bridge

Hello. Yes, I see that I have got the bridges wrong. Please feel free to move it to the Teign site if you have time or I will get around to it asap. The Lindridge reference is personal knowledge as I saw it in the Western Morning News - I think - when it had its conflagration. Thanks for the help.Rosser (talk) 22:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

I dug this book out - Carrington, N. T. and others. The Teignmouth, Dawlish, and Torquay Guide: with an account of the surrounding neighbourhood, etc. Pub. E. Croydon, Teignmouth. It confirms that it was Teigngrace Bridge. It says that Shaldon Bridge was the longest in the UK when built. Cheers. Rosser (talk) 21:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

History of Dover

Thanks Smalljim! I did have my suspicions, but couldn't back it up - it certainly LOOKED wiki-ish. I am even so rewriting much of it - it skates over so much and gives prominence to what is a small part of history in comparison, and being now a separate article deserves better (even if it didn't before). I am also looking for good references. Thanks for your help Peter Shearan (talk) 11:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Nice work figuring that out. In hindsight, I guess I should have dug a little deeper. --L. Pistachio (talk) 16:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Plymouth

Thank you for your hard work on the Plymouth article, and its spin offs. I'm a bit downcast at the minute, and some of the attendant edits by other users that will be amongst your work will likely get on my tits, so I'll be waiting with interest to see what the finished product of this will be. Cheers. Stevebritgimp (talk) 15:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Don't hold your breath for a finished product – I'm just nudging it along a little in what I hope is the right direction. Other people hacking away at it like that doesn't really bother me, as long as it doesn't cross the line into vandalism. Some of the stuff that's gone was rather poor, and it sometimes need an impetus like that to do something about it. Now, what are we going to do with that little "Military and Naval" section stuck at the end – any ideas?  —SMALLJIM  17:47, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
You'd think Military and Naval would be a big section for Plymouth - given that it was described as 'Sparta in the west' by Bob Lenkiewicz. Maybe it should be made into a 'Military and Naval History of Plymouth' in terms of the development of the military aspects of the city both as naval base and fortified strongpoint - but people do moan about military history. At least that would beef it up - otherwise it would have to be merged into something civic. Anyway, I said I *wasn't* going to be doing anything - d'oh! :) Stevebritgimp (talk) 19:21, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the comments, Steve. I'm no expert on the military, but using Crispin Gill's book as a source, this afternoon I added a bit of recent military history to the article (now at Plymouth#1945_to_the_present, in case you're still not looking at the page ;-) ), and it appears that I've already unknowingly covered most of the content in that short section. So I'll finish the job off and delete it. You're right though that a lot more could be said on the subject, but that's someone else's job.  —SMALLJIM  22:13, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Don't you think that the Plymouth page has become a bit of a limp sterile and heartless affair.it gives no reliable impression of the city as it is and the hotly edited and revised previous incarnation did at least give the impression that some people cared about it as it is? instead of homing in on reality the page has become a poor propaganda site for those still pretending that the retail centre has anything going for it at all and the history and tourism sections have very little that is accurate about them. it has mostly been lifted from old local history texts like trewin and gill when there is so much more recent detailed research giving a more balanced and encyclopedic view. As to the naval and military sections and references they really should be knocked off to pages of their own. its chocolate box top drippy nostalgic rose tinted stuff. can anyone be happy with the hived off blitz section? The revelations on the release of more stuff from the archives at Kew make it very clear that there was significant and repeated panic, that the city was hopelessly protected until the Americans came to protect their own and that the culture and everydy life which was forced by the bombing was a complicated story. Where are the references to the blinkered planning, the incompetence of the city's emergency officers the crass mistakes whick neutered the effectiveness of neighbouring firefighter. it goes on and on. not even a crisp objective smattering in the page. if those setting about a rewrite can only provide Plymouth with dredged old amateur historian stuff, it would be better if they had left it as it was. shifting sands, controversy and even an occasional point of view are much better for the Wiki community and its browsers than what we have now. Sorry and feel free to delete after reading. Colsonstream. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.106.223 (talk) 17:54, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

I haven't seen you trying to add any of this "recent detailed research" that you talk of. As a fellow editor said to you recently, Wikipedia grows - if you have access to reliable sources of new information, then please update the article and cite them. Go on, surprise us all and add something useful instead of continually removing information. And, please, do try to moderate your language when talking to other people.  —SMALLJIM  15:51, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Ad·ver·sary

Hey there -- I'm looking for the PROD discussion for the Ad·ver·sary article you deleted? I can't find it. Twiin (talk) 23:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi. There's no discussion as such for prodded articles - they're deleted after 5 days if no-one objects. The concerns raised by the two editors who prodded and seconded the prod were: "Music group with no sources for notability." and "Fails WP:MUSIC, and Jairus Khan the artist redirects to this page also." If you want it back you'll have to make an application at Wikipedia:Deletion review and say why. Hope this helps.  —SMALLJIM  00:00, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

El C

Hiya, FYI, I did notify El C about the prod at the time:[2] and he has not objected. He deleted the primary page, and it's my opinion that he just forgot about the talkpage. If necessary, I'll take it to MfD, but that would be a big fuss, and I would rather that the page just went away. I'm sure that if he doesn't want it deleted, he can simply get it undeleted, right? --Elonka 11:11, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but El C hasn't edited here since 17 April, so we don't know if he's seen your notice and I don't think we should try to guess his reasons for not deleting the page. Why not email him?  —SMALLJIM  12:32, 24 April 2008 (UTC) (with apologies for appearing to be a jobsworth.)
Ah, good point, I hadn't realized he'd been gone for that long. Alright, I'll try other avenues. --Elonka 12:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Msg from Wecareatcpah

I apologize for doing stuff that I should not be doing on Wikipedia. I am a sixty year old veterinarian and was told that Wikipedia would be a great site for having multiple people contribute to an article, etc.

I was wrong and I will not use Wikipedia again for this purpose.

You have deleted a lot of information that I do not have stored elsewhere. I have put a lot of time on it.

Is there a chance I can get it back and paste into a word document?

Again I apologize for doing something wrong--I had good intentions.

Thank you

RSN & Malti & Plymouth

Thanks for noticing that. I was trying to defend the article in an AfD, and was rushed. I hope you think the current link is good enough. I would have narrowed it down to one search result, but if one uses more search terms to do this, the preview changes, removing some relevant material and adding some extraneous stuff. Google works in mysterious ways. If the given text is what the Plymouth snippet is supposed to support, I of course agree with you that it is not really relevant, and that bsrboy's position seems a bit confused and confusing.John Z (talk) 01:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't entirely agree about the sufficiency of Google Book Search results - I've explained why over in WP:RSN#Google_Book_Search_snippets. Yes, bsrboy can be a little overenthusiastic, though he's done some good stuff recently. I think he needs to slow down and consider what he's doing at times, but that's youth for you :-) I wish there had been a Wikipedia when I was his age.  —SMALLJIM  19:42, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Hello SmallJim

I noticed you reverted an IPs contributions of:

The TSG has been referred to as the "Thick and Stupid Group" by other Metropolitan Police officers due to the percerption that the group attracts physically stronger, but intellectually weaker, officers.

I reverted this passage too, thinking what enyclopedic value does this have? Although it has been referenced in a "ship - Shoddy" fashion, it is still referenced, but it is also still silly. Do you think it should be taken off? Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 10:47, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm looking into this - will get back to you.  —SMALLJIM  10:52, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Much appreciated. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 10:53, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Well the book exists, according to Amazon.co.uk and Google Books searches. I've added the ISBN and changed to a proper citation template in the article. The issues that remain are: (1) is the claimed content actually in the book? And (2) is the book a reliable source? I can't comment on (1) because I haven't seen the book, though we must assume good faith on the part of the editor(s) who added it. As for (2), well, the customer reviews on Amazon suggest that it is at least written in a sensationalist style - I'll probably edit the article further to specifically attribute the statement.  —SMALLJIM  11:18, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Have done so, and also copied this thread to Talk:Territorial Support Group where further discussion should take place.  —SMALLJIM  11:39, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Master Musicians of Joujouka

Thanks for reverting the vandalism of "joujoukatruth". The whole Joujouka/Jajouka issue is quite acrimonious. It seems that the Jajouka faction is taking advantage of the fact that the Joujouka faction is busy this weekend at a festival in the village to make massive changes to their page. Hi, I just reverted some vandalism on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) article by User:Mikayla12 - Talk and was about to place a vandalism warning on her (?) talk page when I saw your notice. Since I am not an admin I though you might like to know about it, given that your notice is a final warning. Nick Thorne talk 22:35, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, Nick. Unfortunately I've only just seen it, and I don't think it would be reasonable to block on a small lapse like that after this much delay, so it looks like the user gets another chance. I'll keep an eye out for further infractions though.  —SMALLJIM  13:08, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Jay's Grave

Well, technically, you were right in your edit summary here - but I tend to follow the WP:BURDEN rule of sources. Where people talk about ghosts and legends, there's a huge chance of phrases being included like "mysteriously appearing" and so on. Well done on changing this to "no-one admits to putting them there." - much better and scientific! I'll take a page from your book from now on. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Institute for the Study of Disability and Bioethics

Hello Jim!

As it seems handling the majority of the CSD requests for the moment, i hope you don't mine if i ask some advice regarding the above newpage. The page looks very well developed but when reading it i found multiple problems - First it contains a major amount of (praise) PoV, and second about half the article seems to miss the subject matter as a whole. As the article was created by user:InstituteSDB (WP:UN violation) i am currently in doubt what i should do with the page: It seems ok to CSD for advertising, but at the same time a few maintenance tags might also help. As i already tagged two borderline articles today i rather not tag a third without having a second opinion, to prevent any deletionism outburst from my side.

With kind regards, Excirial (Talk,Contribs) 16:00, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I think you must have checked my contribs just as I was deleting a batch of new articles as vandalism. I'm not really an expert on CSD; I've spent most of today on anti-vandalism patrol with huggle. However, after looking at the article, I don't think it can be said to clearly match any of the CSD criteria. There are obvious COI issues though. A quick google suggests that this is a fairly new organisation - there are only 17 ghits here, and none of them seem to be "third party reliable" sources. So there's PROD and AfD - I'd guess that a PROD would be quickly removed, so the logical step would seem to be to put it up for AfD on Notability grounds. History of Dover

Hi Smalljim! I have just returned to have a look at this article, which I first moved from the main Dover article. If I am correct, by looking at the history of the article, it would appear that you have added the "unreferenced" tag to it in February, and am therefore a little puzzled, since at the end of the article there were ten! In addition, you appear to have added a quantity of text, which in itself is obviously a good thing, but few of them have references. Perhaps you would care to comment? Peter Shearan (talk) 14:30, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Umm, see the article's talk page and your earlier comment here!  —SMALLJIM  14:38, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Geocoding/Coord precision

Hi, Thanks for your message. I'm no expert on this but have been trying to do them for the Somerset WikiProject & I think the overlap is because Exmoor sites come up under the Devon & Somerset categories. I've been following the instructions at: Wikipedia:Geocoding how-to for WikiProject members which only includes minute rather than seconds & the instruction to "Please don't be overly precise." - but I would agree for buildings etc seconds would be better. It's probably best to ask the question at Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates where the real experts are.— Rod talk 14:33, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Amazing.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Amazing.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Happily provide basic instructions should you ever need it - just don't forget to log anything! It will not affect the main DC page (unless someone removes the link and then tries to add it back). It will affect any repeat of the lunatic attempts over the past couple of days - I'd not realised how widespread it was. Should be "interesting" when they do come back :). Plymouth nitwittery

One of the two (three? one?) Plymouth pinheads has just now won himself a little vacation. Since he's transparently the same person who's been warned while using other IP numbers, a warning seemed superfluous. I suppose he'll get another IP, or maybe his nemesis/strawpuppet will pop up. If so, RBI's the word.

Oh, he's terribly concerned that a incriminating message has been censored from this very user talk page. How exciting! Not. -- Hoary (talk) 16:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

For your benefit Hoary the section above refers to the same issue :). So now BL'd which might mean that they get all excited. If I'm around I'll help - cheers --Herby talk thyme 16:46, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that there's only one person behind all these IPs. I don't think any of the edits have ever overlapped, which is just what one would expect if he has to keep resetting his router to get a new address. He pretended to be several different people in a similar fashion during last year's outburst. Bearing in mind the history of this, I don't think anyone reasonable would object if we just RBI from now on, unless he contributes something constructive, of course. I really didn't get the point of what he was going on about the message he put here, but I have no doubt he'll try to explain to "Mr-corrupt-editor" when he reads this :)  —SMALLJIM  16:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

The same rule applies to you and Richard. And content should not be removed unless backed by a propper discussion. You havent got a single proof to claim that any reference in that content is not valid. Rising Tide

hello, I'd like to question the deletion of the Rising Tide UK page; the deletion log says that you deleted it. I'm not from the group so I don't have an axe to grind. I work in a university and organise some events which involve environmental groups and sometimes do research on that sector. This is a nascent group which appears to be growing so I don't think it's accurate to say that there is no encyclopedic merit. I haven't seen the original page but it could have been a useful source for me. I may request a deletion review - depending on your reply of course. Best wishes, Nick. Econobbler (talk) 14:52, 30 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Econobbler (talkcontribs) 14:47, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Nick. Well, at the time (last April) I agreed with the nominator User:Emoscopes that Rising Tide UK wasn't notable enough for an article. I've just had a browse around via Google to see if there's now enough independent coverage of the organisation to make me change my mind, but I think it's borderline at best. Did you just want to see the article or were you proposing to work on it to improve it? Whichever, I've made a temporary copy of it in my user space here. Hope this helps.  —SMALLJIM  16:19, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Nicole 50dc

You might want to check some of the uploads on Nicole 50dc's log. I'm not sure that this user took the pictures or that the user has full consent of the university. They're all dubious and have no URL sources, so they should probably be deleted as a precaution. Jolly Ω Janner 00:30, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

WP:Avoid neologisms

If you click on CAT:GEN, you'll see that your edit put this page under "A" and all other CAT:GEN pages under "W". Either with or without piping is fine ... they'll be alphabetized in the cat either way ... but if you do one, do all 27, please. I left them all under "W" because it makes the list easier to copypaste. (Watchlisting) - Dan Dank55 (push to talk) 14:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I plan to expand it quite a bit yet - there's lots of detail in the refs. It may be the first of a series on the major mines of the moor (or Devon). User talk to dynamic IPs

Please refrain from leaving comments to users of dynamic IPs. Giving "cute" warnings about vandalism to dynamic IPs will likely never reach the intended target, the perpetrator of the vandalism, and will often serve only to confuse others who later cycle into said IP.

And no, I likely won't be around to read the reply.96.3.67.26 (talk) 04:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Eylesbarrow mine

This article could be a GA. If you were to nominate it, I'd say it's got a really good chance of maybe even getting further i.e. featured article. With or without Herby's pics. Jolly Ω Janner 20:25, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for those kind words, and you might be right, but let's wait for the photos which I think are coming fairly soon, eh Herby? I really want to add a plan of the mine, too. Oh, and the Documentation section isn't very accurate or complete, yet, either. And I've recently found another reference source to read which may include some interesting background information. So there's lots to do. No hurry!  —SMALLJIM  22:21, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I actually got over 100 pics that day so it has taken a bit of sorting I'm afraid. However "the committee" has now reviewed them and come up with some to upload! Should be done over the next few days. I think I'll probably create a cat on Commons to match the en wp page. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 17:06, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Started but will probably finish by the weekend. Got other things to do as well! Feel free to place anything if you want - I'll spend time uploading when I can. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 12:03, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Nice work, thanks. I've worked most of them into the article. Looking forward to the next batch :)  —SMALLJIM  20:52, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
More done - only one left now is the other reservoir one which needs some processing - hopefully in the next couple of days. I've also uploaded the Kistvaen ones too (& placed a couple). I'll add to the Drizzlecombe page (& replace the images) when I upload that series maybe tomorrow. Regards --Herby talk thyme 16:19, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again. I've replied further on the article's talk page.  —SMALLJIM  10:30, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Looks good

Nice one with the map. When I manage to get around to it maybe we could do one for the Drizzlecombe collection - it would make the images more effective? Regards --Herby talk thyme 06:43, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

That would be good. Now that I have the base contours for that part of the moor, it'd be quite easy to add the detail. Let me know when you're ready.  —SMALLJIM  19:04, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
OK - I've uploaded them to Commons now (made a separate category here). The map could do with being centred on about 588669 ish! That would get in the main bulk + the menhir at 585670 as well as the kitvaen at 592673 maybe. No rush as I am not sure when I will get to it.
While I'm here & the reason I might not get to it for a bit I was out again today. Do you know anything about Sheepfold (645809) - I have photos & there is a large amount of stone work still existing? I also have pics of Grey Wethers & the beehive hut, some of which must be better than what is here...:) Regards --Herby talk thyme 13:53, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Right, I'll work on a plotting those features in the near future, but I'll have to extend my contours southwest a bit first. Much better photos :) Re: Sheepfold - well I didn't, but I do now, thanks! See Geograph and Hemery p.496.  —SMALLJIM  15:18, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Need source of an article you deleted on Sarah Milroy

Hi - I am working on Canadian - especially Toronto artists and it appears you deleted an article on Canada's most significant Art-writer - Sarah Milroy - in January. I would like to access that source to see whether it is salvageable or whether I need to start this from scratch. Thanks Boris (talk) 15:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

There wasn't much content to delete. This is all it said:
"Sarah Christine Milroy (*see Sarah Sharp) was born in Ventura, California, on September 27th 1986. Her parents are Darlene Milroy and Steven Milroy."
Hope this helps (though I suspect not!).  —SMALLJIM  19:09, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Teehee. Wrong person. And obviously right to delete. Thanks JIM. ;-) Boris (talk) 22:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Deleted page about Danes de Chile

You deleted a page about the winery Danes de Chile. Here are some articles about the winery, which are in Danish. Check with Danish sources they would probably know the wine and the story behind.

Spektrum magazine http://www.spektrumgruppen.dk/magasiner/start.php?id=8

Politikken - Newspaper http://politiken.dk/tjek/rejser/rejserguider/guidervinrejser/article387062.ece

Furthermore there have been numerous articles in the Danish press about the project (Børsen, Euroman, Horsens Amts Folkeblad, Vejle Amts Folkeblad, Vinmagasinet etc.). Furthermore there has been a documentary about the project in Danish TVsyd and several interviews in Danish TV2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gulytri (talkcontribs) 22:20, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes I did delete it, in February 2008. It was a routine matter after the article was proposed for deletion by another user. The minimal content was this:
Danés de Chile is a small Chilean wine producer, founded by Danish immigrant
Søren Skifter Christensen. Danés de Chile mainly exports its wines to Denmark, where it’s
mostly known for having Danish actor and wine critic Per Pallesen among its fans.

Danés de Chile homepage

You are welcome to make it into a viable article if you wish (or request that someone else does), but see WP:NONENG and note that the reason for deletion may still be relevant: "Non-notable winery that does not pass WP:CORP".  —SMALLJIM  23:03, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for correcting that wrong reference. I fixed it up and I have chased up a lot of other references in the article on Exmoor. As they put metric measures first I have changed the article to conform to the sources quoted. As not all sources were metric first I have mentioned this on the talk page, stating my preference to put metric measures first but leaving it to others to comment on this proposal. Asher Benrubi deletion

Did you know Asher Benrubi was the lead singer for a Midwest seminal (mostly) white soul band named "Frenchie and the Oui-ouis". This band is what got white teens interested in great soul music produced at that time. I only remember the name of the drummer, Pat Nolan, but they could be one of the greatest forgotten bands of Indianapolis' buried musical history.

Asher Benrubi also was an early morning radio DJ on Indianapolis' premiere soul station (in that era 1968-1972): WTLC

Please reconsider re-installing this important entry with information about Asher Benrubi's history.
