Hi. I’m confused about the recent edits. Your latest revert seems to imply that he has left Manchester United. Can you take another look? Cheers. --Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 09:54, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- My latest revert was to undo a change that said he had signed for Panathinaikos. He is leaving Manchester United, that's for sure, and I saw no reason to undo the edit that removed United as his current club, but he's not signed for any new club as far as the evidence shows. Cheers. – PeeJay 09:58, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- I should read the article first! Even so, is the note about the Uruguay - Panama match correct? --Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 09:59, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Honestly, I'm not sure. SoccerAssociation (which I find extremely reliable) lists the match among Uruguay's fixtures but doesn't include Cavani's appearance or two goals in his international record, whereas of course the Uruguayan Football Association does (see here). – PeeJay 10:13, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi PeeJay, I would be very happy if you could improve the Phil Bennett article (if you have time that is). I'm trying to get it through In The News. SethWhales talk 14:41, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Not a problem, although it might have to wait until tomorrow. I'm on a late one in work tonight, so hopefully it doesn't need to be rushed through! – PeeJay 15:32, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- I've just noticed from your Userpage that you are also an MUFC supporter. I have since 1968, so I have seen the ups and downs (to the old Division 2), when for a time they were called Scotland United with Tommy Docherty as manager, and some of my favourite United players Lou Macari, Martin Buchan, Stewart Houston, and later Gordon McQueen and Joe Jordan. I'm glad that Lou Macari's Fish & Chips is still trading (well the last time I looked anyway). Ralf Rangnick unfortunately was a disaster, although I'm not sure this year will be any better than 2021/22. SethWhales talk 08:11, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
WikiProject Football talk page
What's going on at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football; why is my 11:36, 22 June 2022 edit showing up as a revdel? Did someone misclick when dealing with a vandal? You're the next person who edited, so I'm hoping you might be able to shed some light on this. 2406:3003:2077:1E60:C998:20C6:8CCF:5730 (talk) 14:03, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Looking at the revisions on the page, it seems that the person who edited before you had put some content that needed to be removed, and you posted a comment before it could be removed, so therefore your revision had to be revdel'd as it also contained the content. Considering your message is still there, I don't think you should worry at all, as you just happened to arrive at a bad time. Aidan9382 (talk) 14:13, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh. So functionally it's just to prevent anyone being able to access the page from that point in time. Was briefly concerned there might have been a mistake that needed to be rectified. Thanks for the explanation! 2406:3003:2077:1E60:C998:20C6:8CCF:5730 (talk) 16:23, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- In response to the IP address (who can't be pinged) - you did not do anything wrong on that talk page. "The person who edited before you" has been trolling at various pages among various types for months unfortunately and I'm guessing something purely disruptive material had found it's way there for valid reasons. Your own message I can still see thankfully and I've added some feedback on it. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 22:10, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

Honours at Danny Murphy
Hi there. [1] – Do you not consider a runners-up medal in the Europa League a major honour or was Danny Murphy not eligible for a medal? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 17:10, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- The awarding of a medal is not an indicator of whether something is an honour. If an organiser chooses to give medals to everyone all the way down to fifth place, is that an honour? – PeeJay 21:12, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
If an organiser chooses to give medals to everyone all the way down to fifth place, is that an honour?
Yeah, I wouldn't say receiving a medal should guarantee inclusion.- My understanding is that most editors at WP:FOOTY or at least a very considerable portion consider runner-up medals in cup competitions as worthy of inclusion? And the Europa League is one of the prestigious club competitions in the world. Robby.is.on (talk) 21:50, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Reversion
I've never seen such a pointless and unnecessary reversion of an edit like this. Obviously, you use the "undo" button randomly or just for fun, there is no other explanation. You won't never change, won't you?. Fma12 (talk) 17:37, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Similarly, I've never seen such a pointless edit as the one I reverted. – PeeJay 17:42, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- "pointless" is reverting an edit before checking what this was about. When you reverted the changes, you also deleted the w previously added. If you want to make "constructive" edits, do the right thing and restore that category. Fma12 (talk) 17:46, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Whitespace changes
Hi PeeJay. Could you please avoid making whitespace changes like the one you did at Danny Murphy (footballer, born 1977)? I don't feel strongly about either way of formatting but your way will inadvertently be reverted by anyone using the visual editor. This means whitespace changes clutter up editors' watchlists for little benefit. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 23:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- If it gets reverted by the visual editor, that's a problem. The visual editor shouldn't be making changes to template code in that way. – PeeJay 23:13, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

- The initial one:
Could you please avoid making whitespace changes […]
Robby.is.on (talk) 07:35, 26 August 2022 (UTC)- Then no, I'll keep making edits that improve the experience for the editor. However, I will try not to do it without making edits elsewhere in the article. Making whitespace changes without making any other edits isn't helpful, I can see that. – PeeJay 08:39, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Football Manager edits
Hi PeeJay, could I ask you constructively about how much detail is too much, with reference to the Influence section on the football manager wiki page? I have no issue with your edits, I just wondered where i went wrong, and how I could improve in the future. Cheers. MessiIsMyBezzie (talk) 10:47, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- Frankly, the story is quite trivial and the specifics about the names of the researcher and the streamer are pretty irrelevant to the story (they can also be found in whatever source you used when writing the paragraph). I would also say what Brereton has gone on to do for Chile is pretty irrelevant too. The story ceases to be about Football Manager once he makes his debut, which is not ideal in an article about Football Manager. I'm not sure I can give specifics about what exactly was wrong, in my opinion, but it just felt like too much in comparison to the other anecdotes in the article. – PeeJay 10:50, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

Team Statistics
I’m throwing this discussion around to a few people as tired as it is but I am playing catch-up. For me it is really annoying because back in 2006 I pretty much closed the debate about there being no source material. I provided FIFA published rankings for the 1930-2002 World Cups yet people are still deleting the tables under WP:NOR. CONCACAF has also published rankings in the past. At this point I am a seldom visitor here anymore. It gets tiresome seeing all the hostility, blocks, socks, and people over interpreting, and misinterpreting policies. 2002–2004 UEFA Cup final line-ups
By the way, your message reminded me of a question I had. I noticed you uploaded the line-ups for the UEFA Cup finals in 2002, 2003 and 2004. I recently came across the official UEFA.com tactical line-ups for these matches (2002, 2003 and 2004). Should the line-up images on these articles be updated to reflect the official formations? S.A. Julio (talk) 13:45, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see anything that really needs changing in either 2003 or 2004. Maybe 2002 could change, but my line-ups are based on what was transmitted in the centralised television broadcast, which means we have conflicting sources from the same publisher. – PeeJay 14:50, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- Well the UEFA broadcasts I checked seemed to match the PDFs, for example the 2004 final, which has Meriem and Marlet switched. For 2003, the broadcast feed also seems to match the PDF, with Mjällby/Valgaeren, Larsson/Sutton and Capucho/Derlei switched (and Costinha lying deeper). S.A. Julio (talk) 17:01, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
I noticed the mistakes in the previous revision, so I understand why you reverted those edits. I hope the new version is okay. Regarding the runners-up years, please clarify what you think. 2A00:1FA0:C49A:9BAA:9D3A:3F0E:E4E6:2C02 (talk) 22:40, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

Reliable Sources
Does this look like a reliable source on German World Cup line-ups? Algorus (talk) 14:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- I know Kicker is a very reputable source, so I don’t see why not. Why do you ask? – PeeJay 14:25, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- Just because you cancelled my edit in 1970 FIFA World Cup Group 4. I totally agree it was fair, I didn't mention any source. To avoid any future ambiguity if I want to specify players positions on the field should I add these sources in External links section? There seem to be no special place for them in the article cause it has very little text. Algorus (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- At the bare minimum, you could put the links in the edit summaries when you make the edit. Other than that, take a look at how we did it in the UEFA Euro 2020 articles (e.g. UEFA Euro 2020 Group A). Let me know if you can't see what I'm getting at. Thanks for understanding my original revert and working to improve your editing. – PeeJay 17:49, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- I see the point. The problem with tactical line-ups before 2002 is that even FIFA Technical Reports don't contain drawn schemes for them. Sometimes they are described with words but not always. Nevertheless such descriptions can be taken as a reputable source, can't they? And if we have a footage of a certain game with starting elevens on the screen organized in the form of a line-up (like 1966 WC matches have) can a link to such footage prove players positions in a Wikipedia article? Algorus (talk) 20:35, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

There seem to be no special place for them in the article cause it has very little text. Algorus (talk) 17:46, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
NFL Draft team charts
A discussion has been started at WikiProject:NFL to determine which style charts should be used in team season articles for selections in the NFL Draft. As an active participant in the area, your input is appreciated. Frank Anchor 02:06, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
UEFA Cup
Why are you undoing my edits in UEFA Cup articles? August-54 (talk) 12:49, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Because flags are prohibited there, per MOS:FLAG. The players' nationalities are not relevant to the infobox. We've had a discussion about this before, please seek it out. – PeeJay 12:51, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
Because you asked ...
Hi! Just because you asked: if an editor called Sportintv adds a link to a website called sportintv.altervista.org or Sport In TV, that's obvious promotion and almost certainly WP:UPE. If you add the same link, it isn't (unless you have some connection to that website?). Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 07:03, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
- My mistake, thank you. – PeeJay 09:40, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi PeeJay
I wanted to ask if you possibly know how to convert PNG football logos to SVG, I want to do so for a non league club, as PNG images look blurry on mobile, thank you very much. Joseph1891 (talk) 18:12, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

Premier league home team wins
Question for you, can't seem to find it anywhere, any idea if on any given premier league match week, every home team side has won? And if so how many times has it happened? Great work mate. 2400:EC40:1032:DF00:1E20:234F:CD54:7903 (talk) 10:21, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Template:Infobox football tournament
Hello,
since the change of the functions 'most apperances' and 'top goalscorer' to show the parameters has been revised, I wanted to ask the reason.
Unfortunately, I also can't find any discussion on the topic of why the parameters are mentioned in the article, but should not be presented as functions for display. Miria~01 (talk) 22:04, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- Those parameters were added to the template documentation without any discussion by a pair of users last year. If you want to add them, perhaps start a discussion on the template talk page, although you might have better luck if you post at WT:FOOTY. – PeeJay 22:08, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- OK, thanks.
- I'll start a discussion there. if there is a consensus that this should only appear for leagues, I think it's a pity, but I would of course accept it. Miria~01 (talk) 22:17, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

2021 Mens RLWC final
I think that the argument that will be raised is "consistency" and that the articles on previous tournaments all have the section title as Final: X v Y. Personally I'm with you that the X v Y bit is superfluous. Nthep (talk) 13:55, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- I do wish the person who keeps reverting me would actually state that on an article talk page though. As I said in an ANI I started, they’ve been editing here for six years without even once making a contribution to a talk page. It’s laughable. – PeeJay 14:14, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

new article creation
Dear PeeJay, I have created a draft article after much hard work on the 'Battle of Lusail'. Could you please review it? Offer any suggestions, ideas etc?
i suggest you take a look at the articles on battle of Nuremberg, battle of old trafford etc. these games were highly notable events (just like the draft article i've linked) due to the acrimony involved, as well as the record amount of yellow cards. furthermore, there's this:
it was a highly notable game and deserves an article. HyperionLEO (talk) 12:21, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- lemme list the reasons down why the match was notable
- 1. it's a world cup knockout game
- 2. it was a highly acrimonious game which featured a massive brawl
- 3. It featured a record number of yellow cards
- 4. It was a classic, seeing how netherlands fought back from 2-0 to equalize in the last minute.
- 5 it quite easily matches the rather arbitrary 'high bar' for articles on specific matches. games like Italy v Brazil (1982 FIFA World Cup) have articles on them as well
- 6. reputable media sources have also used basic logic, seen that the battle of nuremburg has an article for its own, and decided to nominate the battle of lusail.
- 7. several news sources have called it the battle of lusail.
- i hope you consider this and allow this page to be created.
- Thanks for your time! HyperionLEO (talk) 12:49, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Adding past players
I played for senrab back in the late 60-70s and went on to play professionally both asa player and coach. How can I get my name on the list of past players. Jimmy Tindell would confirm? Tony Paris (talk) 13:12, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
- Are you notable enough to be considered for your own Wikipedia page? If not, you won’t be able to be listed. Who did you play professionally for? – PeeJay 13:13, 17 December 2022 (UTC)

. Daniel Case (talk) 20:01, 20 December 2022 (UTC)About FIFA World Cup navbox
Okay, you think that the FIFA World Cup navbox is unnecessary, then why did this UNNECESSARY navbox existed for SEVERAL YEARS until you guys nonsensically identified this is unnecessary? You said that the problem of mobile version not showing the platform should be addressed directly, but the truth is, the platform at the bottom side just do not be displayed on where they should be except the desktop pages. It would still be not displayed on mobile pages, whichever it is mobile web version or app version, until the developer change the code to the one which platforms at the bottom side of desktop pages could be able to show at all versions. If you still selfishly insist on making incovenience against users, then just go to delete the navboxes of Copa América, AFC Asian Cup, and UEFA European Championship. I don't care about which is necessary or not for YOU, what I really care is the conveniece of USERS. If the platforms at the bottom side don't show at mobile pages one day, then there is no reason for the navbox of FIFA World Cup to be deleted. Riverliu0608 (talk) 13:24, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Infoboxes, again
Look - I said I would not change infoboxes that are established, you said you would do the same. So on Notman, why are you changing it? Given your recent block for 3RR, I seriously suggest you stop this method of editing. GiantSnowman 11:16, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- What I agreed to was that I would not change the infobox unless it was part of a wider edit. But you also agreed not to change it unnecessarily, and your revert was definitely unnecessary. This one's on you. – PeeJay 17:09, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- But your edit at Notman was not part of a wider edit? And in any event there is no justification for changing the infobox. I don't go around changing your infobox formatting (see e.g. Phil Marsh article I recently edited), so I am unsure why you feel the need to do so when you edit? GiantSnowman 12:09, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
- The Notman edit may not have been much wider, but it was wider. Go back and check. As to why, I just think it looks better. I really don’t see why you felt it was appropriate to revert. – PeeJay 12:11, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

Reverting of contribution
Hi In place of simply correct my english fouls (I am Belgian French spoken), you revert (in fact you destroy) my contribution for the 2022 World Cup game's "Poland-Mexico". Why ? I use my personal notes (I had working 20 years for a national sports newspaper). And you do that without any explainaton. I don't know that you have the full and exclusive rights for Wikipedia editing. Or probably you consider to be the only expert who can do it ! Shame on you. Wikipedia without games summaries stay no more that hundred other websites: equal without interest. My English is really poor I know. But destroying or not corrcting is stupid. I will keep my ten hundrend pages of notes for myself ! Shanon11 January 5th, 2022 15h45 (Belgian time) Shanon11 (talk) 14:44, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- I didn’t revert your edits because your English is bad, I did it because you did not write in an appropriate style for an encyclopaedia. Your writing may be appropriate for a newspaper, but you used a lot of flowery language that did not conform to WP:NPOV. Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia policies regarding neutrality before making further edits. – PeeJay 15:11, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
