Champions League winning players.

Several months ago, a Wikipedia article about Champions League winning players was deleted. Can we put names of the winning players on CL records and statistics article or can we somehow re-create the article in Wikipedia? (Same thing with Europa League). Domestic League Title

“Twenty clubs have qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage despite having never won a domestic league title:

1899 Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha BSC, RB Leipzig, Schalke 04, Union Berlin” 

7 times domestic league winner Schalke qualified 1958/59 as German league winner for the European Cup, Eintracht Frankfurt qualified 1959/1960 as German league winner. I think it's down to German specific football back then: they were champions of the country, but it wasn't domestic league - it was like a championship tournament, with two groups and a final. Red Devil (talk) 20:51, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

Fair point. However, no one in Germany considers the domestic champions pre Bundesliga 1964 (where from 5 regional leagues the final champion was determined in knock-outs) cup winners rather than league winners. 5.90.119.175 (talk) 21:46, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

Assist

Hello everyone, Opta recently published a report on the most assisted players in the Champions League since the start of its new edition in 1992. Opta clearly explains the definition of assist, as it does not consider those who cause penalty kicks, deflected shots, or rebounds from the opponent as “assists,” and we find a big change in the ranking of players, where Ryan Giggs occupies the lead, and I think it is logical, especially since UEFA’s statistics began in 2003. Also, UEFA does not know everyone what the true assist standard is, as it counts rebounds as an assist. For example, see Inigo Martinez’s own goal here, it was counted as an assist for Wayne Rooney, which will cause controversy over the assist criteria. I will change the player rankings according to Opta's ranking for the following reasons:

1- Opta’s statistics started in 1992 (unlike UEFA, which started in 2003), which makes it more transparent. 2- UEFA statistics include preliminary rounds, unlike Opta 3- Most importantly, Opta has clear standards in defining “assist,” unlike UEFA

Overall team records

I think there should be main tournament statistic only (with at most Champions league playoff round included). There are a lot of clubs that don't play qualifications so this is not representative. This list contains clubs like Red Star, Rangers, Celtic, Galatasaray, Olympiacos, Anderlect that have pumped up statistic with qualifications. We are talking about 8 possible (usually 6) additional games compared to clubs that qualify directly, meaning (this is important) that even if they don't qualify they could have more games in a season than clubs that play in group stage. Final Success Rate

Since Borussia Dortmund has now lost the 2013 and 2024 final,they should be mentioned in the Final Success Rate with Benfica and Juventus as the clubs who have lost more finals than they have won.

Can someone update the map and color the Kosovo map red? Because Sheriff Tiraspol played in the group stage in the 2021-22 season and became the first club from Kosovo to participate in the group stage Mishary94 (talk) 22:55, 29 July 2024 (UTC)

You can't put OPTA as source of assists over the official assists by UEFA
