Chaos

This is chaos. What do we do here? Do we just keep reverting..? I already reported them on AIV. Hockeycatcat (talk) 11:32, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Hockeycatcat, yep - hopefully the rapid disruption filter kicks in and stops them for 2 hours. If that doesn't work (not sure of the complete workings of the filter), I'll go to an active admin's tp to get action. Pahunkat (talk) 11:33, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Hockeycatcat, see [1] - Spotted in Iceland can't edit the page for at least 2 hours now. Pahunkat (talk) 11:35, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Pahunkat,  Y that's good. I'll keep my eye on the page too. Hockeycatcat (talk) 11:38, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Hockeycatcat, Reserved Goalkeeper's caught by the filter now as well. Pahunkat (talk) 11:40, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
And blocked now! Thanks for helping :-) Pahunkat (talk) 11:40, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Pahunkat,  Y Fantastic! Thank you very much too. I would give you a barnstar but that already happened, so here is a cat face - :3 Hockeycatcat (talk) 11:43, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

CVU academy

Pahunkat, please will you train me in the Counter Vandalism Unit AcademySaturn Lover! (talk) 18:36, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello Saturn Lover!, and thanks for your interest in the CVUA! We recommend that new trainees have at least 200 edits to mainspace articles, but right now you have eight. I'd be happy to take you on once you get near enough to that mark - for now, I'd recommend reading WP:VAND, installing RedWarn and going to recent changes to revert some obvious vandalism - my talk page is always open if you need help :-) Pahunkat (talk) 14:13, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

You tagged me

A notification came to me, but report was not there , what happened? Heba Aisha (talk) 16:58, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey Heba Aisha, nothing to worry about now - a user (likely a sockpuppet) created an account attacking your username and I used the {{User}} template in my report at UAA to make things clearer to the reviewing admin, which must have pinged you in the process. They've been blocked and likely oversighted now - sorry for the inconvenience :-) Pahunkat (talk) 20:39, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

COVID-19 scams

Hey Pahunkat, I haven't been on Wikipedia in a while so I wanted to connect with you and see how much progress you've made on COVID-19 scams. Cheezejack (talk) 14:06, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey Cheezejack, nice to hear from you - I started a draft (see my userpage) but I've run into an issue - unlike the one SSA, there are multiple ways that fraudsters are using the COVID pandemic. This means that writing it as an article will be difficult as we'd need to cover all these - I'm thinking more of a list or just expanding the section from COVID-19 misinformation. However, right now I'm trying to improve the article about the Chibok kidnapping - I need to add to the lead and whittle down the "reactions" section, then I'm probably going to list it for peer review to see if getting it to a GA is manageable. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 16:20, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
That's good to know. I'm currently working on World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, but I just wanted to see the progress. I'll try to expand the COVID fraud article when I can and probably add a list considering the amount of strategies scammers use. Thanks. Cheezejack (talk) 16:30, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Corkbrick

Regarding this, the OP mentioned that the company organized a paid contest to write a Wikipedia article, so I'm not surprised that there are multiple copies of Corkbrick floating around draftspace. Probably not a sock thing. DanCherek (talk) 20:26, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

DanCherek - thanks for letting me know - I figured it was likely another freelancer or UPE, but this explains it fully. I'll go ahead and amend my comment at the Teahouse :-) Pahunkat (talk) 20:29, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Yup, I was curious and found it here. It's kind of funny that they specifically instruct people to reference the "about" and "portfolio" sections of their company website... DanCherek (talk) 20:32, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
DanCherek I guess they don't want entrants to find a website which is critical of them, furthermore the company website has loads of promotional fluff for people to dig into. From a quick sweep looks like some of the submissions weren't even on Wikipedia - I'll take a more in-depth look when I have more time to see if there's any more UPE accounts I can find. Would not be surprised if some of these freelancers are already users here. Pahunkat (talk) 20:43, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
And the user who started the Teahouse thread has just blanked it. No idea why, they're not under a cloud. Pahunkat (talk) 20:45, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Fugitives to add to list

Great! please add The Monster with 21 Faces, Ronnie Eckstine, and Ivan the Terrible (Treblinka guard) to the List of fugitives from justice who disappeared. Davidgoodheart (talk) 20:10, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Davidgoodheart,   Done - please check everything's alright. The entry for "The Monster with 21 Faces" needs a source. Pahunkat (talk) 19:52, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

@Pahunkat: Mir Aimal Kansi has been added to the list. Davidgoodheart (talk) 17:38, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks Davidgoodheart, the other should also have been added a few days ago - sorry for the delays, am on a sort of wikibreak and the majority of my time is now short periods - mostly on mobile. @Pahunkat: Please add Apache Kid to the List of fugitives from justice who are no longer sought. Davidgoodheart (talk) 06:47, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello Davidgoodheart, I’ve done what I can for the entry - it needs a citation and the only ones accessible to me on the article were either unreliable (IMDB is user-generated) or did not mention the subject. I wasn’t sure on which arrests you wanted mentioned either - let me know if the description needs improving. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 19:54, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
@Pahunkat: You did well with that. Please add Shafi Muhammad Burfat to List of fugitives from justice who disappeared. Davidgoodheart (talk) 03:34, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay Davidgoodheart, I didn’t realize there was an addition at the end of that message. Could you please let me know since when the subject was a fugitive - the article says since 24 years, but also goes on to say that he was banned in 2013. Thanks, ::::Pahunkat (talk) 15:06, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
@Pahunkat: You can add him as disappeared since 1997, that would be acceptable. Thanks for responding. Davidgoodheart (talk) 21:13, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Davidgoodheart, that addition is   Done, please check it and make any adjustments needed :-) Pahunkat (talk) 20:16, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

@Pahunkat: Thanks again! Please add formerly wanted fugitive Qasim al-Raymi who was last seen on 29 January 2009 to the List of fugitives from justice who are no longer sought. Davidgoodheart (talk) 11:23, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello Davidgoodheart, I've   Done the addition - please check it's alright. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 08:47, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

Message from Alonhzn (moved to new section)

Hello Pahunkat I believe you made a mistake removing an external link from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Receiver_operating_characteristic The link was not advertising anything, it is an informative discussion that provides scientific proof and is relevant to the topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alonhzn (talkcontribs) 15:13, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Alonhzn, and welcome to Wikipedia! The link that you added to the article was one from medium. Content from medium is user-generated with no editorial oversight, which means that in most cases the information found there isn't reliable - as a result we do not use medium as references or link to such sites in external link sections - see our policy on external links for more information. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 17:03, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

Can any IP comment and question RFA candidates? 2409:4054:89:8312:9B6F:60A:74B3:BB2F (talk) 06:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello IP! Per the instructions at WP:RFA, "All Wikipedians—including those without an account or not logged in ("anons")—are welcome to comment and ask questions in an RfA but numerical (#) "votes" in the Support, Oppose, and Neutral sections may only be placed by editors while logged in to their account." In short, you're welcome to question and comment on RfA candidates, but can't vote in the RfA. I always recommend that IP's create an account though - not only does it hide your IP address, but you only need a username and password (no email) and can gain privileges to make editing easier :-) Pahunkat (talk) 08:12, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Jillian Ward (Your revert back in November 2020)

Hello Pahunkat, and thank you for your revert on Jillian Ward last November 2020. However, please be careful in assuming problematic edits on the edit summary as there are different types of problematic ones on Wikipedia (For example, vandalism, editing tests, NPOV violation, etc). Please take look on this: diff. According to this, it says: Jhyllianne "Jillian" Wardë is a Filipino-Australian actress. Thus is a WP:BLP issue/violation. Your statement, according to your edit summary, said it is a unexplained removal of content. If we say unexplained content removal, it is a removal of content without explaining why it should be excluded. If my statement is wrong, or if you have any questions, please let me know here on your talk page or my talk page. Regards, ----Rdp060707|talk 12:56, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Rdp060707, you have brought up a revert close to 6 months ago. Whilst I cannot remember what I was thinking of at the time of the revert as a result of this, reviewing the revert now I still believe that the IP's edit constituted unexplained removal of content. I'm not sure what you are trying to say with the above, as it is indeed "a removal of content without explaining why it should be excluded". Whether it constitutes a violation of BLP is another issue, whilst the IP was blocked for disruptive editing, in part due to their conduct on BLPs, it is not an extremely blatant example in my opinion. Being a new user at the time, I expect I probably had little knowledge of BLP, and if the revert was made now I would probably give a warning for their unexplained removal of content followed by a comment about BLPs. Neither have I made any assumption that this is a bad-faith edit, and if I have done so please feel free to point it out (though no warnings were issued at the time given that I had only started editing in that period). Best, Pahunkat (talk) 19:46, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
I would also add that I don't see much point in debating on this topic - this seems like a dead horse given that the revert was over 6 months ago, the edit doesn't qualify for revision deletion, and there's certainly no point in taking action against the IP when they haven't edited since December 2. Pahunkat (talk) 19:55, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

@Pahunkat: Oh well, that it is. Anyways, keep up the good work and happy editing! ----Rdp060707|talk 01:39, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks Rdp060707, you too! Pahunkat (talk) 13:23, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Blown away

Blocked but I'm totally blown away by this. Wow! --Ashleyyoursmile! 09:24, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ashleyyoursmile, nice to see you here! Normally I find a couple of NTSAMR (Nothing to say about me really) userpage spambots every day, and I record them in the log - with luck one day it may come in useful, to help in creating an edit filter for them or enabling other admins to recognise them for what they are. It's all added up to that in the end. We're lucky to have ACPERM - if you look at Special:Abuselog on Meta, you'll see that these userpage spambots very often go on to attempt to create mainspace articles in other projects. Sadly, the meta filter for userpage spam produces too many false positives on enwiki for it to be viable at the moment (I don't know what is in that filter but I brought up the issue at the edit filter noticeboard a while ago) :-) Pahunkat (talk) 09:29, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
I hope this works out one day. I have huge respect for what you do here, Pahunkat. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 06:09, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Ashleyyoursmile! I often get disheartened at the attempts of people to spam Wikipedia - it's not just spambots, there are link spammers such as this one, UPEs, etc... Pahunkat (talk) 08:59, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Draft:John Maple (furniture maker)

Thanks for your comment. I use Familysearch because it is free for readers who want to check my sources. I subscribe to Find-my-Past, but I assumed that wouldn't be allowed as a source because it requires a subscription. Is this the reason why this article has twice been put into drafts by another user, stating that my sources aren't good enough?Furnival (talk) 09:53, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello Simon Edwards Esq, you should be able to use any source, even if it requires a subscription/is behind a paywall. However, findmypast also appears to be a generally unreliable source (I'm using a script that highlights depreciated/unreliable sources so I can quickly tell). I won't comment on the rest of the sources/notability, but just be aware that they won't contribute to satisfying the notability criteria - if you can find another more reliable source then replace the ones already on the draft. I'd recommend reading the criteria above - good luck on the rest of the article! Pahunkat (talk) 10:01, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

When I use Findmypast I always look at the scanned original of the Census or birth/marriage/death documents. I don't rely on their handwriting software. With regards the notability of John Maple, he founded Maple & Co which became the largest furniture retailer and manufacturer in England. It was the IKEA of its day - in 1900 most households would have had one or more pieces of Maple's furniture. It is true that his son massively expanded the business from the original premises, but my brief article outlines how the business was created and about its creator. How is he not notable? I do appreciate your interest and thanks for the tips. Furnival (talk) 10:37, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Simon Edwards Esq, as I've said before I'm not going to comment on the overall notability of the subject. Just a note that things like Birth/death certificates don't establish notability - the other sources I haven't assessed. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 11:29, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
(talk), I quite agree, birth/death records are mainly to confirm identity, and certainly not a measure of notability, or we would all be famous! Furnival (talk) 11:47, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Revert on my talk page

Hi - I understand your intention was perfectly in good faith, but there's a few good reasons not to have actually reverted the edit. First, it's etiquette of sorts not to edit another's contributions in talk pages unless there is an egregious breach (eg. threats, attempts at outing etc). Second, if it is the case that this is a sockpuppet, then it is better to strike the contribution. Third, if this is a case of inappropriate canvassing (and to be honest, I'm not certain it is at first glance since the user has sought opinion from a number of editors who frequent AfD: [2]) it is better to leave evidence of canvassing visible, for others to easily see, rather than having to dig deep through page histories. Anyway, just my two centimes, happy editing and regards, --Goldsztajn (talk) 09:48, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello Goldsztajn, unfortunately the person is a serial block-evader and given the large amount of talk pages targeted it would have been too time consuming to strike through every message so I reverted their edits under WP:BRV, BANEVASION - note that a script was used to revert. I've got no problem in you reverting the revert - if a user wants to let the message stand then they can revert me too. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 10:28, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

HOW DO I FIND ANY OFFICAL SOURCES TO JELLYFISH PICTURES?!!! 😡😡😡 BMA-Nation2020 (talk) 14:09, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Pahunkat, you beat me to the CSD tagging of Draft:E Writing Champs. But the page has been deleted and the user blocked. :) How are you? How is your GAN coming along? --Ashleyyoursmile! 07:52, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ashleyyoursmile, thanks for deleting and blocking! Currently self-isolating after coming into contact with a COVID case, but should be out pretty soon. I'm beginning to wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew with such a large article, but I'm certain that I'll get it done - as you can probably see, I've taken a two-week break from the GAN for now and will resume pretty soon - I've some ideas of what could be changed in terms of the structure now after some thinking, I'm thinking of completely merging "reactions" with aftermath and perhaps splitting the aftermath section into "rescue efforts" or similar and "aftermath". I'd like to thank you once again for contribute to the peer review - it is really helpful feedback and I just need to get the reference work done to complete the feedback (GOCE will probably come after I get the structure right). Best, Pahunkat (talk) 08:02, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
Pahunkat, I hope you are able to swing back into action fast so that we can have a blast! ;) Honestly, you have done an amazing job with such a large article. I am sure it would work out well. :) Also, please try to get someone else to comment on the PR since my comments do not address the subject matter. Ashleyyoursmile! 08:14, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, will do! Watch this space... Pahunkat (talk) 11:31, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

BMA-Nation2020, we are all volunteers here and nobody is required to do anything. Note that some drafts are waiting about 3 months to be reviewed. As a matter of fact, I tend not to review the same AFC submission twice in a row. Please be patient, other reviewers will get to it. Pahunkat (talk) 07:50, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Thank You

Hi Pahunkat, I cannot thank you enough for the contribution you have done in the article Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping. I really appreciated it. Thanks Ashish Lohorung (talk) 00:30, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello Ashishlohorung, thanks for dropping by! You created the article back in 2014 and I'm building off the framework already there. All the ref work is done, now I'm looking to see if it is possible to restructure the article (which is more difficult than I previously thought). Could I have your feedback on how it could be improved? Best, Pahunkat (talk) 10:00, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi Pahunkat, Yes I understand it is very difficult now coz the article is so huge and complex now. Definitely there are always many things to improve in an article. However to find what is not easy. Let's see what we can do to improve it. Keep it up!! Ashish Lohorung (talk) 04:13, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Request on 08:54:38, 30 July 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by SimonRushton88

SimonRushton88 (talk) 08:54, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi this is my first submission (Stuart McAlpine Miller)I was wondering if you could review the submission and advise how it can be improved to the point it can be accepted and published live. Stuart is a very good friend of mine and I can confirm the submission is a true reflection as well as the additional supportive appendices I have now included.

BW Simon --SimonRushton88 (talk) 08:54, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello SimonRushton88, here are some general comments for improvement on the draft right now:
  1. The lead section, which makes several claims about the subject, is unsourced (with the exception of the quote) - please try to find sources for statements made in the article, especially given that this is a biography of a living person. For more information, see WP:CITATIONS. Additionally, original reasearch should not be included.
  2. The Daily Mail is considered to be a deprecated source, which means that editors should try to avoid using it - given that there's one from the times, maybe this ref can be removed
  3. Make sure you stick to a neutral point of view throughout the article and avoid using peacock terms.
  4. Given that you are a friend of the subject, please take time to read WP:COI for guidelines on conflict of interest editing.
I hope the above helps, I've fixed the decline notice so that when you are ready to resubmit you can click the blue button. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 09:23, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Spambot

Hi Pahunkat, hope you are well. I came across Larry0915754, a spambot, today and have added it to your flattering log, thinking that you might probably find it useful if you file a SPI in the future. Hope you don't mind. Have a great day. :) --Viridian Bovary (talk) 04:54, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the addition Viridian Bovary, I had a look at the logs and have definitely seen that link used on a spambot before - I've asked a bot to generate a report on the accounts that have added the link, if there are multiple spambots it can be blacklisted to stop the spam. Pahunkat (talk) 08:38, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
That would be really nice. Viridian Bovary (talk) 08:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I added other user, MickieFranklyn5. Regards Ruy (talk) 08:49, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Requested a glock for both spambots. Pahunkat (talk) 09:15, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Wow, they are really active today. Take a look at this Viridian Bovary, Ruy - in addition to the two already mentioned there are IdaHamann389 (talk · contribs), MindyGreenway78 (talk · contribs), KandyMassey01 (talk · contribs) (look at the logs, this is a perfect example of why we call these "nothing to say about me really" /NTSAMR) and GeorgiannaRegist (talk · contribs) which have popped up in the last 12 hours. Glocks requested for those not locked as well. Pahunkat (talk) 09:26, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you, Pahunkat. Looks like we can expect more of these today. Viridian Bovary (talk) 09:33, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

hi Pahunkat

Actually, I love this platform. therefore I like to improve the knowledge base of this valuable place. if found any good article I link that article from Wiki. today I did that kind of activity after that I received this message.

Hello, I'm Pahunkat. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Paintball have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Pahunkat (talk) 15:12, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

if I did any wrong activity I would apologize. Please check this article and if it is not related to paintball please remove it https:// foresthillhideout. com/ paintball/ (I kept a spaces between the URL to prevent make backlink)

Thank you

This is Bkonplus

Hello Bkonplus, I'm not quite sure what you would like me to do given that the link has already been removed from the article, could you please clarify? Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 15:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Pahunkat,

Need advice, not sure what's the procedure

Hi Pahunkat, I recently came across an article called Malaysian art, which was made in its entirety by a user named Hati Kama, who upon clicking on their user page made me realize that it was a sockpuppet of another user named Awanama. Hati Kama had also created another article called Folklore of Malaysia. I remember reading somewhere that there are procedures in place on Wikipedia to deal with articles created by sockpuppets, and a google search revealed "G5. Creations by banned or blocked users" (WP:G5). I honestly thought Hati Kama fitted the criteria its in entirety, it's a blocked user violating their block, and both articles had no substantial edits by others. I placed the template on these two articles. However, I was reverted by an admin named Liz, who stated that "Sockpuppeteer wasn't blocked when this article was written". I was also subsequently reprimanded not to leave tags like that as a I was merely a "3 day old account with 14 edits", before being subsequently accused of being a sockpuppet myself without evidence. Perhaps as you being an older established user, you could advice me as to what I did wrong, and I also came to you as you seemed to have had previous interactions with Awanama and their sockpuppets. Thank you for your time. IpohLang (talk) 21:35, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

@IpohLang: Asking Liz would make a helluva lot more sense than asking three different users. BTW, I too don't think you're a new user. What other accounts have you had at Wikipedia? --Bbb23 (talk) 21:49, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello IpohLang, speedy deletion criterion G5 only applies to edits made "in violation of [the user's] block or ban". In this case, Hati Kama created the article before Awanama was first blocked, so G5 does not apply. I would echo what Bbb23 has said above my comment. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 09:12, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Article

I gave bloomberg as reference and the said company has 35000+ employees worldwide. Please help Informationshouldbefree95 (talk) 16:27, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

  Courtesy link: Draft:Sutherland Global Services
Hello Informationshouldbefree95, Bloomberg listings like the one provided are examples of trivial coverage per WP:CORPDEPTH as they are just "simple listings or compilations". Per the notability criteria for corporations, you should try to find multiple reliable sources that give significant coverage of the company in order to establish its notability. I hope that helps, this list may be useful for determining what sources are reliable. Pahunkat (talk) 16:34, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Why do you nominate GenWATT Solar Energy Solutions (Philippines) for deletion? I added now a secondary source, Please remove it from nomination. It has now a secondary source (DTI Permit Portal and A newspaper.)

I will be adding sources if needed. You can add also some sources on the article but you just nominated it for deletion. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adriem915 (talk) 03:46, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Answer me now!! Adriem915 (talk) 03:47, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Adriem915 and apologies if I took longer than you expected to reply, you posted the messages to my talk page at about 0445 my time so I was asleep. The reason I nominated the article for deletion is that I don't think the subject meets our notability criteria for organizations - you can see my rationale at the Articles for Deletion discussion page. Throughout the course of the discussion you're welcome to comment on that discussion page, and I see you've already made some. Help:My article got nominated for deletion! is an essay but I think it will be useful for you to read, along with the notability criteria above. Also, please don't comment logged out like you just did in the AfD - it's a violation of our sockpuppetry policy. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 09:05, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
I'd also like to add that I don't think the two references you've added since my nomination prove the notability of this company - the first reference is a primary listing (a government portal), and the second one is clearly user-generated ([3] for the interested). Pahunkat (talk) 09:12, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Pahunkat, Would you review the article please? many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by RiveraDrainaldi (talkcontribs)
RiveraDrainaldi, normally I only review drafts once and then leave subsequent resubmissions to other reviewers, however I can give you an assessment of the sources here. Per WP:BASIC: "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." References 1 and 9 are government websites for places, which do not mention the subject at all (they don't have significant coverage of the subject). Ref 6 appears to be the instagram login page (perhaps an error?), and refs 3, 4, 7, 8 and 10 are the websites of the companies the subject is affiliated with, so they are not independent. This leaves sources 2 and 5 as the only ones which could establish notability - source 5 looks like a blogspot entry, which would make it user-generated and thus unreliable, I'm not sure about source 2 but would question its reliability. If I were to review this, I'd be leaning decline - to improve the draft, find more sources that are reliable, independent and have significant coverage of the subject in order to demonstrate their notability. I hope this helps :-) Pahunkat (talk) 12:43, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Pahunkat,

I would like to thank you for pointing out your concerns. But I would like to assure you that I am not in any way getting any compensation directly neither indirectly, I am new to this platform and learning many different things on Wikipedia and I am enjoying reading the guidelines and trying my best to comply to the rules and regulations. I will try to make sure that I do not edit or publish any page without thorough research and guidance from fellow mentors on here. Request on 20:42:53, 18 September 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by RalphZero

The Wikipedia page titled Lp Spaces provides a complete introduction   on finite dimensional vector spaces as well as animated unit p-spheres. I can reiterate this material or refer to it by hyperlink and or edit /merge my article on p-entropy into this Wikipedia page on p-norms. I don't know how to create a hyperlink to Wikipedia pages within an article to be published in Wikipedia. Please advise which strategy will yield a publishable result.

RalphZero (talk) 20:42, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello RalphZero,
  • You can create links to other wikipedia articles using the code [[Example]] in the source editor, and using [example.com] for links to external sites. On the visual editor, both can be done by clicking the link icon on the toolbar whilst editing.
  • In order for this to become an article, you will need to write a lead section for the draft - this helps to introduce the subject of the article (it's hard for me to identify the topic of the draft right now, and thus what title it should have if I moved it to article space), and makes it accessible for readers who may not have a good understanding of the subject. The first paragraph of Lp space is a good example - it introduces the subject in simple and accessible terms, with more complicated ones being linked to their respective articles.
  • You should probably have to ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics on whether this warrants a stand-alone article. The participants there will undoubtedly have a better understanding of the topic and respective notability policies than me.
Hopefully that helps, please feel free to ask on my talkpage or at the teahouse if you have any more questions :-) Pahunkat (talk) 11:02, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Question from Marquis morse (18:14, 21 September 2021)

hi Pahunkat!

I wanted to ask you a quick question about translation: I joined Wikipedia in order to translate an article about the Dutch painter Ruurd Elzer into English...can I just go ahead and get started on this, or do I have to......do something else first? :)

Thanks for any guidance! Mark --Marquis morse (talk) 18:14, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello Marquis morse, and welcome to Wikipedia! Firstly, you should be aware that the English Wikipedia has different policies to Wikipedias in other languages - these include our notability criteria for artists. If you're confident that Rurd Elzer meets that criteria, then you can create a draft translations of the article using the article wizard - once you're happy with it, you can submit it for review. Be aware that you will need to credit the source article, and should try not to simply use machine translations because they usually give out poor quality text. I hope this helps, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask me :-) Pahunkat (talk) 19:00, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Question from Justanot (14:47, 24 September 2021)

Sorry if I'm bombarding you with questions. Is it possible to for an unconfirmed user to close a discussion the user opened? Or does the discussion have to be closed by an administrator? Thank you. --Justanot (talk) 14:47, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

Question from Justanot (21:20, 23 September 2021)

I'm a bit nervous as this is my first time editing on Wikipedia. I know I'm supposed to be bold, but how should be bold if I'm nervous? --Justanot (talk) 21:20, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Forgot to ask this by the way. Is it normal to fail at being bold on the first day of contributing to Wikipedia? Thank you. Justanot (talk) 21:31, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello Justanot, and welcome to Wikipedia! I had a quick look through your contributions - you're doing a great job. I can understand that you're nervous given that I experienced the same thing when I started here - in reality, there's nothing much to worry about as long as you make edits with the intention of helping out. We don't expect newcomers to know everything about editing when they first start. Hopefully you will settle in after a few days of editing, I can see that you've already started editing some articles. With regards to the question below, I think you're referring to the talk page discussion at Talk:Wario (series)? If that's the case, I think you can just remove it from the talk page given that nobody's responded, or leave it as it is. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask me on this talk page, or through the mentorship module and I will do my best to help :-). Pahunkat (talk) 12:29, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

How do you close a discussion?

How exactly do you close a discussion? Can you do it at any point or do you need to wait until you're confirmed or something? Thank you. Justanot (talk) 15:04, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello Justanot, if you are referring to Talk:Wario (series) you should be fine just to remove the section or leave it as it is. You can also put {{atop|result=Example}} just below the header and put {{abot}} after your comments, which will mark it as closed. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 07:56, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Question from NinasteWR on WorldRemit (11:22, 13 October 2021)

Hi I want to replace the Logo on this page with the new company logo. How do I do that? Thanks --NinasteWR (talk) 11:22, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello NinasteWR, and welcome to Wikipedia! I don't have much experience in uploading logos, but I think you should be able to by using the file upload wizard to upload the logo as a non-free file, before adding the image to the article (you can also ask the editors at the teahouse if you want to double check). I also happened to notice your username, are you related to WorldRemit? If you are, you will need to take certain steps as a conflict of interest editor, including disclosing any payments you expect to receive for editing. I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions :-) Pahunkat (talk) 16:42, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Pahunkat and thanks for the detailed reply! Yes - I am a WorldRemit employee and there would be a COI indeed, so I'm glad you gave me the heads up! I will look into how to disclose the paid contribution and get back to you if I have any further questions. Have a lovely day.

Question from Justanot (18:40, 17 October 2021)

I'm a bit confused on the concept of what's considered a fan edit and what's not considered a fan edit. How can I tell the difference between a fan edit and other edits? --Justanot (talk) 18:40, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello Justanot, would you mind giving me a link to the discussion/article which is considered to have a fan edit (for context)? Pahunkat (talk) 19:07, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Friday Night Funkin' Justanot (talk) 19:08, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

That's the article I'm talking about. I'm not sure whether or not there should be anymore information for mods. Justanot (talk) 19:09, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Justanot, if you're referring to this revert, I think the editor who made the revert did so because they considered that table to be overly excessive detail which would only be helpful to fans of the subject (in this case, it isn't because the edit was made by a fan of the subject). Additionally, there are no sources provided to back up the information in the table. While this isn't a policy, I think that the essay WP:FANPOV is helpful to understand this. Hopefully that is useful, please let me know if you have anything else :-) Pahunkat (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

I know that the table was excessive albeit, I was referring to the section of the article that says "Modding." The only thing the section says is that the game has an active modding community. I was wondering if adding any more details about Friday Night Funkin' mods would be excessive. Justanot (talk) 19:20, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

By the way, thanks for helping me. Justanot (talk) 19:21, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Justanot, I'm not familiar with the subject of the article but I would encourage you to be bold and add the content if you feel that it is relevant, not excessive detail and you have reliable sources to back up the information. If you get reverted by another editor, you can ask the editor to discuss on the talk page if you still want it to be added (WP:BRD cycle). Pahunkat (talk) 19:28, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
And it's no problem to help you - I'm glad to see that you've stuck around for this long :-) Pahunkat (talk) 19:31, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I want to create a new article about a famous Georgian Journalist. He's a friend of mine and asked me to do it. Since I'm not an editor here, I really don't know how to do it. I watched some youtube videos but it wasn't as simple. I followed the video, but some of the screens that was shown and what I was seeing on my own was very different. I really need a help to create an article, could you tell me what is going on and how am I suppose to create it? Thank you in advance. --11therehes (talk) 12:31, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

Helllo 11therehes, and my sincere apologies for such a late reply! This help page explains the process in depth, but I'll give a summary of the key points.
Before beginning to write, you should gather as many independent and reliable sources as you can that discuss the journalist in depth. This will help determine what you can write (all content on Wikipedia should be verifiable and will be backed up by these sources), and should help you to determine if the journalist meets our notability guidelines (see WP:NBIO).
Once you're confident that the journalist meets the notability guidelines, you can start to write a draft of the article in your sandbox (which I see you have already created). Save the draft regularly by using the "publish changes" button, and when you're happy with it you can click the blue submit button present on the banner in the sandbox. After that, AfC reviewers like myself will take a look at the draft - we will then move it to mainspace or decline it and give tips on how to improve the draft. If it is declined, you can improve the draft and then submit it.
The draft needs to be in your own words, we cannot allow material copy and pasted from other sources. Given that the journalist is your friend, you should read the guidelines for editors with a potential conflict of interest.
I hope that helps - any further questions or if you would like me to take a look at something, please let me know. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 21:44, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
