GAN Process

Hi MyCatIsAChonk, and hello to your cat. Regarding your WP:GAN, please be aware that users cannot review articles that they nominate themselves. Reviewing is carried out by a third party who is not involved with the article. Best, CMD (talk) 16:22, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

My error, the GA nom was by another user. Still, do not believe we had a proper review on the article.--☾Loriendrew☽ ☏(ring-ring) 19:39, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
Hi there, thanks for letting me know; this is my first review for a good article, so I’m new to the process. I do believe I posted my review on the proper page, though might have done it in the wrong place. I posted my review in the talk page for the good article nomination (I think it was something like “Talk:West Side Story (2021) GAn/1”). Is there a different place I should’ve posted it?
Thanks,
MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 20:01, 14 December 2022 (UTC) MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 20:01, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
Apologies for the mix-up. The review is in the proper place. The issue is that it does not explain what was reviewed. Ideally, another editor years later coming on to your review should be able to get a picture of what the article looked like at the time, which sources you checked to make sure the cited information was accurate, etc. There are some templates which people use to help structure the review. Feel free to ask questions here or at WT:GAN! CMD (talk) 02:29, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Ahh, I see now. Thank you for your help! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 12:35, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, can you also note in the sources if they match the wiki text they are used for? CMD (talk) 00:41, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
Hi there, again, I apologize for my cluelessness, but what are you referring to by “sources”? The sources section of the actual article, or the source part of the template on the review page? MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 00:46, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
The references used in the article to support the various items of text. Do they actually say what the article claims they say? CMD (talk) 17:07, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
Got it, thank you! --MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 00:49, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi, with regards to your review of Dawn of the dead, when you pass a nomination, please remember to add it to the appropriate list of Wikipedia:Good articles. All steps that should be taken are listed at WP:GAN/I#PASS. Otherwise errors get thrown up by the mismatch tracker! Best, CMD (talk) 10:41, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

Oh dear, thank you again! I'll make sure tto have that there in future reviews. -MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 18:24, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, it helps as a reviewer will have a good idea of what section an article might fit in! CMD (talk) 00:29, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Huntsville, Alabama

Thank you for all the improvements you have been making to Huntsville, Alabama. I've been cleaning up the article a bit, and will soon tackle the very bloated "arts and culture" section. If you feel I'm bulldozing important information, feel free to revert or leave me a message. Once a lot of the not-so-important details are removed, the article will actually look a lot better. Thanks again for your hard work. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:56, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for your help as well! I’m finished with all my initial edits, so feel free to change anything- thank you! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 16:12, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup flag

Hi, MyCatIsAChonk! I noticed your flag at Wikipedia:WikiCup/2023 signups links to Laser Kiwi flag but doesn't actually display it. If your intention was to show the flag, you need to add the file name in the second parameter, so {{flagicon image||link=Laser Kiwi flag}} would become {{flagicon image|Fire the Lazer.svg|link=Laser Kiwi flag}}, which renders as:  . I hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any questions! — Bilorv (talk) 01:29, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Ah, I see the problem now. The image is marked as non-free, so you can only use it with a bespoke rationale in articles, not in Wikipedia-space. You might need to choose another flag (which is a shame, as you had an interesting choice!). — Bilorv (talk) 14:07, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
I see, thanks for telling me! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 16:32, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

Errant DYK

I don't know how it happened, but you nominated an article already approved elsewhere for DYK and falsely claimed credit for its creation. You should be more careful to avoid that kind of thing. I also noticed that you've done quite a few GA reviews since becoming an editor recently, most sans any critiques or comments. ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:04, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

Because I have now found two back-to-back instances of falsity and error in your DYK work, I will be reviewing your work at DYK and GA to determine if you have acted in accordance with due diligence. ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:36, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
Oh dear, I am deeply sorry for this. As you did point out, I am a new editor and I'm still becoming accustomed to rules and policies, so I try to approach these things with caution. I was not aware that you had be involved in the article to nominate it for DYK (nor was I aware that the one about the book of common prayer had already been nominated; a search of the nominations page didn't yield any results, but I didn't check the approved nominations page). I found those in a list of recently created articles, and nominated them with the intention of nominating articles that hadn't already been; again, I was not aware of the policy at the time. I am very sorry for using up your time, and I'll refrain from doing this in the future. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 03:25, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
I think you are confused; you don't have to be involved in the article, but you do have to correctly identify who created it when you use the template provided at Template talk:Did you know nominations (I can walk you through an example DYK nomination on behalf of another editor later this week, if you'd like). Just remember to exercise prudence and patience. As for your GA reviews, I would unfortunately have to say I discourage you from performing those until you have a bit more experience. If you feel confident enough to continue, please do, but remember to again exercise good judgement. Thank you for joining, I hope you stay a Wikipedia editor a long time! ~ Pbritti (talk) 05:16, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
@Pbritti I see now; I recognize that I didn't attribute the creator in the correct spot, it must have escaped me; again, I apologize and will refrain from this in the future. On the topic of GA reviews, I'd like to know specifically what I can improve upon; I feel that my two most recent reviews, Newark Airport and Nieuwmarkt Station, were thorough enough and that I pointed out any possible issues I found. As for the other four reviews I've done, I had no critiques because I genuinely didn't have any. There were a few bare citations here and there, but I was fine with fixing those on my own, and small typos were also fixed by me. What can I improve upon? Hey, I just wanted to drop by to say that I really like your idea behind Nolan's possible TFA appearance on 1 April. Some very clever references. I tried implementing it in Wiki-syntax/CSS and it looked rather strange so hopefully someone with a better knowledge of it makes the changes. I look forward to seeing other editors' view on it. WikiCup 2023 March newsletter

So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Unlimitedlead with 1205 points, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with two featured articles on historical figures and several featured article candidate reviews.
  •   Epicgenius was in second place with 789 points; a seasoned WikiCup competitor he specialises in buildings and locations in New York.
  •   FrB.TG was in third place with 625 points, garnered from a featured article on a filmmaker which qualified for an impressive number of bonus points.
  •   TheJoebro64, another WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points gained from two featured articles on video games.
  •   Iazyges was in fifth place with 532 points, from two featured articles on classical history.

The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included   LunaEatsTuna,   Thebiguglyalien,   Sammi Brie,   Trainsandotherthings,   Lee Vilenski,   Juxlos,   Unexpectedlydian,   SounderBruce,   Kosack,   BennyOnTheLoose and   PCN02WPS. It was a high-scoring start to the competition.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. The first round finished on February 26. Remember that any content promoted after that date but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! my story today

Thank you for a good composition, and also for your efforts for Stravinsky! Now a GA!! - Do you have an idea what to say in a DYK? Will you go for it? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:23, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: Thank you! I'll definitely be nominating the article at DYK soon. I hope to get the article to FA soon as well (and hopefully in time to nominate for TFA on May 29!) MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 12:55, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Good luck with that timing idea, scheduling for April began, which means May will come in a month ;) No other article for that date is pending, that's good news. Now placement can be made before a FA, sadly. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:00, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
I gave the whole article a read and made minor changes that I thought are not contentious, but revert if you don't agree, please. Some key things repeated: no links to current countries and their capitals, no countries for well-known places, commas, no links to a composer when the piece has a article. I also moved some images around, please check. Things I didn't do was C. P. E. instead of C.P.E. - there are several. Then there are links to his pieces, - some believe in a strict once only in the body, others tolerate repeated links once again in the music section, which I support but it should then be consistent. If you open the FAC I'll have some more questions, such as consistent naming of people (his wives, for example). But probably you want to make the referencing consistent first. - Thank you for what you put in the article! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:32, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt Thank you for your edits, they're all good! I'll get to the refs in the coming days! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) 16:51, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Percy Grainger

There's a couple bits that are incredibly difficult about that image, including the bottom half being misaligned. If you'll hold off, I'll get the crack removal done - crack removal over textured fabric is annoying, and realigning things means careful use of the free select tool to move the layer - and then pass on to you.

Cheers! Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 03:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

@Adam Cuerden I would very much appreciate that if you're willing to take it on! Let's try this partially cropped version, just because I'm not a huge fan of the big space next to him in the original. Thank you! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 11:27, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
File:Percy Grainger by Bain News Service.png - Here you go. I've given some suggested crop marks (I doubt they actually line up), though you might want to balance the right and left space by cropping a little more on the left. Just upload over the PNG and JPEG copies. I'd suggest restoring to the marks or so, uploading that, then cropping how you want from there, as it's far easier than having someone complain about the crop and having nothing to go back to. No worries! I had an internet outage last night, so I worked on some restoration stuff.
I should probably explain what I did: First, I used the free select to mark out the bottom half along the crack (surrounding the rest), then copied it and added it as a new layer, realigning it a bit better. I used the burn function of dodge-burn, set to highlight, a big fuzzy-edge brush (like... 120 px, maybe? I didn't keep track) and - I think 20% opacity, on the top line of JUST THAT LAYER. I played with the opacity to reach that 20% until it looked about right across the crack.
It's useful to know when to use clone, when to use healing, and where to get your samples from. It's often helpful with damage of a vastly different colour, to very roughly trace over the crack with a clone about the size of the crack before going to healing, so you don't get a noticable dark/light spot. You should also play with size, and a slightly fuzzy outline (Hardness 75%) and small size (10-20px) is great for this. Healing can be a lot larger, but you usually want a hard edge on that if you're going big.
Dodge and burn are useful to fix lightening at edges. Low opacity (I've used as low as 1%), and I like the Hardness 25 or Hardness 50 brush in GIMP for them, so they blend in. Be careful, you can easily do a lot of damage with them too.
One thing I discovered recently is there's some really useful settings for the plain Paintbrush tool. If you use colour selection to get something of the colour you want, you can put the paintbrush took into HSV Hue or HSV saturation mode to ONLY adjust hue or saturation while leaving the texture behind. Now, note that in many cases saturation varies by darkness, so you'll need to adjust accordingly, but this is amazing for, (to give an example) removing blue marker from the Li Fu Lee image, or fixing the chromatic aberrations on it. You can always use a lower opacity to not take it all the way.
Big big brushes can be used for plain areas, as long as you make sure you don't eat up details under it.
That's... a lot. Take from it what you're ready for. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 22:13, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
That is extremely helpful; my knowledge in photo editing is limited, so this is very good to know for future projects. Thank you so much! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 22:50, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
No worries! Always glad to help. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 22:52, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Oh, one more bit of advice: You can always put a copy of the unaltered image on a bottom layer, so you can easily compare before and after by turning off the restoration layer. Do pay attention to what layer you're editing, though!
This also makes reversing something easy, as long as you haven't tweaked colours too much: Erase away the top layer where you made the mistake so the bottom layer shows through, copy the bottom layer (so you have it to put back in), and then merge down the top layer. Another good reason to crop last: The number of times I've been able to save myself from a mistake where I didn't have the layers set up by grabbing the original and using "paste as layer"... Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 22:56, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Hey @Adam Cuerden, I've finished my first draft. I've uploaded the restored version (uncropped) and then cropped it how I see fit; if you think the crop should be different, let me know. Before I send it off to FPC, what're your thoughts? Do you think it's good to go? Thanks! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 15:36, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
There's a few specks right of the legs near the bottom, other than that, looking good. Remember to also upload over the JPEG copy when done. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 17:03, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
@Adam Cuerden, when you say JPEG copy, what do you mean? Upload a JPEG version over it? Create a seperate file, just in JPEG form? Forgive my lack of knowledge, still a bit new to this! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 21:06, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
If you look under "Other versions" You'll see I prepped a JPEG version at File:Percy Grainger by Bain News Service.jpg. Simplifying a bit, PNG is a lossless file format, so saving repeatedly won't result in a degraded image. JPEG is not, but displays better due to longstanding Wikipedia bugs, so it's useful to save a JPEG copy for use in articles once you're done with the PNG. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.2% of all FPs. Currently celebrating his 600th FP! 22:14, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for clarifying that for me. I've nominated the image at FPC here. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 00:27, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Broadcasted

The Wiktionary definition of Broadcasted states the use is sometimes proscribed, so it should not be used. The word also appears on Wikipedia:Lists_of_common_misspellings/B

Broadcasted appears in some dictionaries, but others, e.g. Chambers state "Sorry, no entries for Broadcasted were found".
Broadcast appears in all dictionaries, and should be used as COMMONALITY - "Wikipedia tries to find words that are common to all varieties of English".

A May 2023 search for Broadcast gave over 234,000 uses, compared with a search for Broadcasted which gave just 99.
Of these, 16 are redirects to "Broadcast" articles, 14 refer to a 2015 Canadian TV award and 5 relate to a 1924 cartoon. The rest are in quotations. Arjayay (talk) 11:23, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Stravinsky FAN redux

I'm sorry about the turn of events with the Stravinsky FAN. Your work was excellent and it is disappointing to read that after all this back and forth the FAN suddenly seems doubtful. Not sure how you feel, but I'd be glad to help you should you want to resubmit. Not only am I personally very knowledgeable about Stravinsky's music and life, but I also possess various materials which would make for very useful sources. If this sounds acceptable to you, please let me know so we can coordinate. There are some details and ideas we need to hash out, particularly with respect to his personal life. These details are not incidental, but integral to the man; not sure why other editors suggested you gloss over them, especially for a potential FA.

Anyway, please let me know if I can be of help. Thank you for your hard work. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 20:11, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

@CurryTime7-24, thank you, it was rather disappointing, but I understand what they mean. I'm rather burnt out from editing Stravinsky at this moment, so I can't say I'll be doing any major edits anytime soon. I would greatly appreciate anything you're willing to do, and would be happy to co-nominate with you at FAC. Thank you for your comments and help throughout; I'll absolutely still be here to discuss and make edits if needed, just don't expect complete rewrites anytime soon!
Also, I like to review an article for people who review my articles as a sort-of thank you, but I noticed you have no one reviews listed on your userpage. If you would like a review, either now or in the future, let me know! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 21:19, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
P.S.: Saw your DYK nom for American premieres of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7, and I'm very impressed by your work on the article- The seventh is one of my favorite Shosty works! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 21:19, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
What happened? I was in the middle of my review, just held up by five of our subjects who died within a few days, one a composer, one a composer's first wife and muse ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:28, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt, in short, reviewers said the article needs more diverse sourcing, I need to do more research on Stravinsky, and then the prose needs to be rewritten to ensure it covers the most important parts of Stravinsky's life (which, in my opinion, I already know plenty about the composer, and the biography section is comprehensive enough, but I digress). Still, I greatly appreciate your review and help through this process- if you ever need a review or other help, I'm happy to do what I can. my story today
I see. I am in no need of a review, but nominated Gabriele Schnaut for GA just for fun. Practically no personal life as far as I could see. - FAC or not, Stravinsky is much better thanks to your work, and I love that! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:24, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
Have some flowers of encouragement. I had my share of frustration in the GA noms of Jesu, meine Freude, of all pieces (where the one who failed my nom nominated it himself). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:56, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt, I read through some of that article's history out of curiosity, and wow, that seems like a roller coaster of events. I hope to get working by the end of the week, thank you very much for the flowers! MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 12:15, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your kind words. Shostakovich 7 is special to me too, but that's a long story. :)
I've had my own bouts with wiki-discouragement and have some idea of how you must feel. But please know that you are appreciated and that your work is valuable. Sometimes it's helpful to take some time off and you may want to consider doing that if needed, but it would be a loss for all of us in WikiProject Classical Music if this fracas caused you to disengage altogether.
Please don't hesitate to contact me should you ever need any encouragement, advice, or just want to talk. I hope you continue sharing your knowledge and passion for music here for a long time to come. Again, thank you. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 22:12, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

@MyCatIsAChonk: Greetings! Your dissapointment is understandable, but I'm sorry to say that it seems to me that there's a pattern going on. Not only Stravinsky, but The Firebird is also virtually unchanged from prior to the GA overhaul apart from adding refs. Is this ballet really quality-worthy as another of his ballet articles, The Rite of Spring? Wretchskull (talk) 10:14, 29 June 2023 (UTC)

@Wretchskull, sorry for the late response- I found that with The Firebird most of the prose was fine as is, and I already had a good understanding of the work and its history. There were some changes needed that were addressed in the GAN. Looking back, there are some holes in the article- there's essentially no section discussing the Music itself (despite the existence of a "Music" subheader). Fixes are needed on The Firebird too; it seems I have quite a bit of work to do. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 21:03, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
Sorry but I am not convinced by that reasoning... Its breadth is nowhere near as thorough as it should be. Take a look at The Rite: this is how it looked like prior to the rewrite. I've read some of the cited books in the firebird and they analyze the music in depth, of which there is no prose about in the Music section. The sources used should be at least doubled or tripled with important books, all of which have discussions on musical analysis, influences, legacy, prose about recordings, and more. Can prose written by hundreds of random people, mostly without references, coincidentally be the best summary of RS sources? This is why every single quality overhaul I've seen (from a poor initial state) includes fully rewriting everything, making sure everything is WP:DUE and including as much depth as possible. John Oliver is the lesser evil IMO, but even there much is unchanged (legacy section immediately jumps into the sewers rather than general influence and reception as per critics and fans, etc.).
Sorry if I come across as callous or nagging, but I will honestly say that I'm bordering on starting GARs on Stravinsky and The Firebird. I'm willing to guide you (and even help out with) rewriting Stravinsky with the many needed missing books. Tell me when you have time and I will bring all necessary sources. Wretchskull (talk) 08:56, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
I understand then- I'll try to get to work ASAP. Thank you for your help throughout the FAC and onward. MyCatIsAChonk (talk) (not me) (also not me) (still no) 20:13, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Sergei Prokofiev (1891–1953) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. As the creator of works across numerous music genres, he is regarded as one of the major composers of the 20th century. His works include operas such as The Gambler, The Fiery Angel and The Love for Three Oranges; the suite Lieutenant Kijé; the ballet Romeo and Juliet; and Peter and the Wolf. Altogether during his adult life, he composed seven operas, seven symphonies, eight ballets, five piano concertos, two violin concertos, a cello concerto, a symphony-concerto for cello and orchestra, and nine completed piano sonatas. This photograph was taken circa 1918 in New York City.

Between them during round 4, contestants achieved 12 featured articles, 3 featured lists, 3 featured pictures, 126 good articles, 46 DYK entries, 14 ITN entries, 67 featured article candidate reviews and 147 good article reviews. @TheUzbek, I original wrote support, which was an accident. When performing source reviews, you do not offer a "support"- rather, you "pass" the source review when it all concerns have been addressed. I did not actually read the article's prose, which means I cannot offer a support, but I can pass the source review. Because you performed a normal review, you'd offer a support, if I've sufficiently addressed all your concerns. I hope this clarifies any concerns. Thank you and more...

I really cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to you for taking the time to review the article on the American premieres of Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7, as well as for your patience while I was bogged down with work. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

You know, I think it's time we start thinking about bringing up our friend Igor back to FA status. I will admit that I was afraid of tackling this project and kept putting it off as a result. Please allow me to explain.

Last year, a bit of a fracas between editors ensued when an article I had often contributed to was demoted from its longstanding FA status. In the article's talk page, some well-meaning editors indirectly, but forcefully criticized my additions, which were described as being of poor quality. These remarks caught me off-guard and, I'm sorry to say, took the wind out of my sails for a time. I briefly stopped editing and became reticent to improve existing articles as a result, particularly high-profile ones.

Reading encouraging messages from other editors the past year for my new articles, however, has helped me to overcome my natural inclination to intense self-doubt and criticism. You and @Gerda Arendt have been especially kind. Which is why I now feel at ease enough to finally begin work on Igor. What do you think? —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 18:29, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

@CurryTime7-24, you're so very welcome, and I'm happy to help! I'm also glad I was able to be a source of support- 50% of why im on this website all the time is because of the lovely and supportive community I get to work with.
Igor, wow, haven't thought about that one for awhile! I would absolutely be happy to begin work on this soon. Right now, I have two pending FLCs and an FAC and PR for some rather large articles, so I'm a bit busy there- I'm also getting quite busy IRL too, but I expect this to decrease in the coming weeks. I'd love to begin work on it!
Regarding the logistics of how we'll run this, what're you thinking? If you want, we can use my sandbox2, then paste it all into the main article when we're done. Secondly, how do you want to delegate tasks? I already know lots about Stravinsky's early life and career, but my knowledge essentially ends when he moves to the US (not including what's already in the article). I'll do a bit more reading before we start writing, but I'm certainly willing to write and find sources. If you could find some good information in Russian sources, that'd be very helpful to ensuring we cover the full breadth of his scholarly coverage. Thanks for asking about this- really excited to get back to one of my favorite composers and to work with you on something! Let me know when you get some free time so we can work something out!
Unfortunately, access to Newspapers.com is down at the moment. However, once it's back up, count me in for covering Igor's American period for sure and his conducting. (An idea I've considered for some time is a separate article on his career as conductor, which Oleg Caetani argued was far more influential than typically believed.)
I'd also be glad to help with anything else you need: his life and music are perennial passions of mine. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 01:47, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
