Backlog Banzai
In the month of September, Wikiproject Military history is running a project-wide edit-a-thon, Backlog Banzai. There are heaps of different areas you can work on, for which you claim points, and at the end of the month all sorts of whiz-bang awards will be handed out. Every player wins a prize! Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. Yorkshire article categorisation
Hello, there appears to be problems with the categorisation of Yorkshire articles. For example 1938 Barnsley by-election as been categorised as Category:20th century in South Yorkshire yet there was no South Yorkshire before 1974 so should be categorised in the West Riding of Yorkshire (note not West Yorkshire as again that also did not exist before 1974). Is there some sort of agreement to ignore where the location was at the time and just go by the current location? Keith D (talk) 16:40, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Categories
Hi Hugo. Could you stop removing national elections from the continent-level categories. I think they should be considered non-diffusing categories as they can be used to find all major elections in one place. I would say only subnational elections should only be in the 'XXXX elections in Fooland' type categories.

Re keeping national elections in the "20XX elections in Europe" category, as well as in the "20XX elections in Fooland" category, the existing countries with these categories (eg United Kingdom, France) do not have this dual categorisation as far as I am aware, so I was following the existing practice with Greece and Portugal. And non-diffusing categoriers are usually marked as such, eg Category:21st-century New Zealand women writers so that other Wikipedians are aware of the special circumstances for those categories eg see Kirsty Gunn who is in that category and also in the Category:21st-century New Zealand writers.
