Hey Mlpearc, I'm contacting you about regaining ACC interface access and account creator flag. I emailed Thehelpfulone about removing my ACC access and account creator flag due to the access to nonpublic data policy applying to the ACC process. I have recently identified myself to the Foundation. If you need anything else, please let me know. Thanks! -- LuK3 (Talk) 05:05, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello LuK3, I have verified your identification but there are no matching usernames at the interface. Which username do you use at ACC ? Mlpearc (powwow) 19:57, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I must of registered it under "Luke". I was going to file a request for usurpation for Luke, however it was too active on other wikis. -- LuK3 (Talk) 20:00, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

 Done

I have restored your account, however I am not a ENWP Admin and can not restore the ACC bit. You should be able to contact an Admin and this done or re-request it a WP:PERM/ACC. Welcome back ! Mlpearc (powwow) 20:33, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Much appreciated! I have to catch up on the rules, it's been a long time :). -- LuK3 (Talk) 21:32, 27 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry to bother you again, but it says my account needs to be identified. I emailed the mailing list, however nothing yet. -- LuK3 (Talk) 01:30, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Camille Keaton

Hi,

I was updating an article on Camille Keaton - but when I did so, the article changed at the lower half of it.

Thank you for your help in the matter.

Hello, Camille Keaton, If you look at the right side version of the edit, the template closing brackets " |} " caused the error, which has been fixed. Hope this helps. Cheers, Mlpearc (powwow) 15:06, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

List of arcade video games

"Doesn't seem to be as talked about on the talk page, but it's a good start"

I have split up several lists like this, and my bitter experience is that it is better to split it up like this from the outset. I have written it so that the header and footers are in templates, so if when I have finished it is generally felt that larger sub articles are required then you only need to make 1 change. Talking of which,

"Please add categories"

What categories would you like. I would have thought "Arcade games" would do. I will try and add it to the template (when I have finished) rather than the articles directly for the reasons given above.

Op47 (talk) 22:07, 12 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello Op47, No problem, I do not edit video game articles so I won't say how the list is formatted, I just wanted to mention that the discussion mentions a O-S type format not each letter has it's own page, but if you have experience in lists and this is the "usual" outcome hooraay for cutting out the middle man. The categories, I went through the pages I edited and placed the same two from the "mother" page. Mlpearc (powwow) 22:57, 12 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Saw your response to my editing of the timeline of Sean Jones career.....First time trying it, so I really did not know what I was doing. I deleted the notation that Sean played, and lettered in, lacrosse at Northeastern University. He did not play lacrosse at Northeastern, and even if he had, it would not have been possible for him to "letter" as it was, and still is a Club sport, not varsity. I know these things because I attended Northeaster at the same time as Sean and both played on the team, and was student/coach for 2yrs.......Thank you

Audie Info → Audie Steel & Engineering Name Change Request

Post from WP:CHUS
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Morning,

Thank you for getting back to me on my application for name change.I've included the message below for ease of reference.

Audie Info → Audie Steel & Engineering[edit]

Current name: Audie Info (talk · contribs · deleted · logs · target logs · block log · listuser · SUL info · central auth) (ping user) Requested name: Audie Steel & Engineering (talk · contribs · deleted · logs · target logs · block log · listuser · SUL info · central auth) For bureaucrat use: rename user Datestamp: 08:08, 27 June 2013 (UTC) Reason: Incorrent knowledge of how the username works and reflects on articles. Audie Info (talk) 08:08, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Robot clerk note: No problems found --Chris G Bot 3 (talk) 08:10, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

(Non-Bureaucrat observation) It looks promotional to me. MM (Report findings) (Past espionage) 15:43, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Clerk note: The requested username is not within the username policy, per "Promotional" and "Shared use". Mlpearc (powwow) 16:10, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Not done per the above. ·addshore· talk to me! 08:31, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

When I created my Wiki account, I chose a username I'd used for other accounts - I tend to forget my username so I like to keep them all the same if I can. But then I read an article where my username should not be promotional - I think I'm on the right track by wanting to change it, its just I dont know what to change it too (obviously not Audie Steel & Engineering). Should it be my name ? But then if I leave the company they can still contribute on my name? Or should I just leave it as Audie Info?

I'm sorry this is so long winded. I'm just really really frustrated.

My boss insists on a wiki page, and wiki insists we are not notable enough. I have no experience with syntax and its taking me forever to figure out how to do things on Wiki.

If we could resolve my username, then I can move on to getting help for my article.

Thank you again...

-Kate Audie Info (talk) 06:32, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your note. Only bureaucrats can change usernames and I am not a bureaucrat. Please make your point to a crat from that list. Cheers, Mlpearc (powwow) 15:33, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

WP:GOCE invitation

Hi, Mlpearc. I wanted to drop you a note to see if you'd be interested in joining the Guild of Copy Editors July 2013 backlog elimination drive. You've done good work for the Guild in the past, but I noticed you hadn't joined the current drive. We've made lots of progress on the backlog, but participation has decreased and we've stalled out a bit now. We need more help to keep pushing down the number of articles that still need copy editing. The current drive is already halfway over! Please consider joining it and chipping in a few articles. I hope to see you there! Cheers. —Torchiest talkedits 13:33, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Torchiest, ATM my RL schedule doesn't allow much more than sporadic editing at best. I'm gonna miss this one but maybe the next. Cheers Mlpearc (powwow) 05:11, 20 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ml, do you mind if I add this sentence Make sure you leave a comment saying they self-created though if you do this. back, you removed it when you [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=ikipedile in the comments section saying why the request got dropped. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:39, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello Callanecc, I removed it because it seemed redundant as anyone can simply check the creation log. I presume though it would be easier to note in the comments, I have no qualms with re-inserting the line if you think it's best. Cheers, Mlpearc (powwow) 15:07, 23 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking on terms of someone checking the request later on (eg sometime checking the request if it was the same ip or an admin checking a user's record) it'd be a lot easier not to have to work out why. Plus it doesn't take long to leave the comment. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 00:50, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Discussion Request

Hey there. Can I ask you to try and talk some sense into Parrot of Doom? He has broken multiple WP's, and could care less about it. After you read the discussion on his talk page under The dark Side of the Moon, you can see the edits in question here: [2] (breaking WP:CON and WP:PRESERVE), and [3] (breaking WP:NOCITE). As you can see by the history of the page, he made those edits multiple times. The chief reason I'm asking you, really, is because I need one other person to talk to him before I can create a RfC. The other reason is that you're a Pink Floyd contributor, and a competent and reasonable editor. Akdrummer75 (talk) 19:43, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

IMO, the threat of a Ban language in the one warning when they respond politely and are adapting could scare them away. I wonder if anyone has done a study on the process of going from anon-IP to full blown editor and what greases the process. Some sociology PhD candidate should make it a thesis. You need to learn how to use templates

Myedits were clearly not vandalism and where clearly done to remove potentially libelous content. You need to brush up on what is considered vandalism and also might want to read up on BLP issues such as someone making unsubstantiated claims about a persons sexuality. 74.4.198.186 (talk) 18:26, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you take issue with my edits that clearly DO NOT constitute vandalism take them up on the article talk page or at least leave a relevant edit summary and not just an uncivil "reverting to last good version." 74.4.198.186 (talk) 18:34, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note on rename user request

Thanks for your note on the Username change from 'WorldstridesM' to 'Ankurdsci'. You are correct that a change in username doesn't resolve a conflict of interest - it is clearly necessary that I avoid editing articles on the related page, as well. I should have explained this more openly in the request; discussion on the usertalk page for WorldstridesM does fully make it understood.

Please let me know what next steps are needed. Should I cancel and resubmit a Username change request? — Worldstridesm (talkcontribs) 18:38, 11 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you desire a different username than in the open request then yes, re-apply with your new choice, otherwise if the open request is still the way you wish to go then no further action (at this time) is required, a patrolling Crat will process your request. You're very welcome, Sorry I have no pull as to when your request will be processed. If you wish you can visit a Bureaucrat and see if they could take a look at it. Mlpearc (open channel) 00:09, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Changes to Laserfiche Page

Extended content

Hi there,

I am the Manager of Inbound Marketing at Laserfiche and recently noticed our page had come under some scrutiny for bias, among other things. As such, I have had one of our writers work on a piece that should be more in line with Wikipedias standards. For your reference, I have included the entire text below, please let me know if there are any issues with this and we will work to resolve them prior to posting to wikipedia. (Please note there are 14 external sources cited and I can provided these upon request)

<INTRO> Laserfiche is privately owned software company based in Long Beach, CA, United States, that offers content management and automated form processing software for businesses. Laserfiche has offices in Canada, Panama, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

During this experience, Wacker observed how paralegals had only a limited number of predetermined keywords to use to search a database containing thousands of pages of depositions.

The first version of Laserfiche was released in 1987 and was a DOS-based document imaging system that used commercial off-the-shelf components like Kurzweil OCR boards, Cornerstone graphics monitors and Kofax scanner interface boards.

Laserfiche has been profitable since 1994 and is reported to be growing at a sustainable rate .

Freshpet Wikipedia Page

HI Mark,

I'm having a bit of trouble in determining what I need to do next to update the Freshpet Wikipedia page. It looks like the logos were rejected, even though we provided patent information. I can reach out to the company to have someone in their Market department claim ownership of the assets in writing, or get certification from their patent lawyer, if needed. But in order to have the brand logos on the page, do they have to be shared with Wikimedia Commons and permitted to be shared, adapted, etc.? I would think that if Freshpet owns the logos, they could choose to not permit the work to be adapted.

Please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Re22lax (talkcontribs) 20:40, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Heaven and Hell Album Page - Children of The Sea

Hello, I am new to this. I am not sure how to reference things properly. The facts are though that in the Book, 'Iron Man: My Journey through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath', Iommi states that Children Of the Sea was already written before he presented to Dio. He also states there is a version of the song with Ozzy on vocals with different lyrics before Dio ever heard the song.

I guess, technically you can say the song was written that day in it's final form, and completed. More accurately, however, would be to say the music was written, and Dio then wrote lryics to complete the song.

Either way, not a big deal. Thanks for your work on Wikipedia!

Providing a source is more constructive than deleting contributions

Please stop deleting content in a draconian way, as you did to Sign of the horns. The fact that I requested a citation merits a more careful action from your part. I researched that information before (and also know it from personal experience abroad), so I am contributing something that I know it is true and it awaits a citation. For the same reason you deleted my contribution, you must delete the section "Superstition" and others which do not include ANY source. You are throwing the baby with the bath water. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.217.147.183 (talk) 01:29, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you have third party references Then add it. Mlpearc (open channel) 01:31, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I added prominent common knowledge information. That does not contravene Wikipedia's policy. That information is as much known and cited or non-cited as most of the rest of the paragraph. Later, I included the sources, making my contribution of better quality than most of the rest of the article. Your draconian deletion amounts to vandalism. Please stop doing this to me or to anybody else. Instead, please request sources. If you continue to vandalize, you may be reported. 98.217.147.183 (talk) 06:03, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Common-term linking

There was long, regular debate for a few years at WT:MOSLINK on the guidelines for what not to link. A search through the archives of that talk page from about 2007 to 2011 should be revealing.

Concerning uniformity—there isn't uniformity in infoboxes that do have blue-carpet links. It's rare to find every single item in an infobox blued out. And the more blue, the more readers are likely to pass over it as some kind of colour formatting. MOSLINK quite rightly advises against bunched linking, and prescribes specific linking over general targets. The WP pillars state that WP is not a dictionary, so definitional linking is discouraged, unless to technical terms that most readers are unlikely to be familiar with. Tony (talk) 13:48, 12 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I can only find "back & forth" discussions, unfortunately I'm running low on debate energy. I have not seen any guidelines specifically dis-allowing what would seem to be uniformity in infoboxes on pages I watch. I use User:Ohconfucius/script/Common Terms quite often, but restore any changes to the infobox and lead before saving (example), chalk it to interpretation I guess. Hi Mlpearc, Thank you for the pertinent Andy Griffith feedback. I am still a novice when it comes to editing on Wikipedia. Is it possible to change the photo description itself to reflect the fact that it comes from the October 7, 1965 variety special entitled "The Andy Griffith, Don Knotts, and Jim Nabors Show?" You can view the eight-minute sketch where the photo comes from on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsuWZHqxd-4 The image was most definitely not taken five years later in 1970.

Motörhead's Stone Deaf Forever

Stone Deaf Forever! is a box-set, not a compilation, which is why I added a box-set navbox section on the Motörhead wiki, even though Stone Deaf Forever! is only one box-set. Someone is yet to create the Motörhead Complete Early Years wiki, which might give a bigger reason for a box-set navbox section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lide the Rightning (talkcontribs) 16:52, 21 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Gauhar Khan article

Dear Mlpearc, Here is the link to movie Miss India the mystery (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFRDyUHmBpY). Gauhar khan does not even appear for a second in this movie. Wikipedia is being used for cheap publicity of movie. I edited the article because i watched this movie misguided by wikipedia information that Gauhar khan played a role in Miss India: The Mystery. I have given you the movie link itself and its upto you to decide that whether you want to keep this wrong information on wikipedia or remove it. I respect your decision of asking me for a citation but unfortunately there is no authentic page of Gauhar Khan which can be used as a reliable source that she never acted in this movie. Watching this movie and figuring out is only way left. The movie also publicizes in many websites that Priyanka Chopra(Indian actress)also plays a role in movie but similar to the gauhar khan case, she has nothing to do with movie. Wikipedia does not carry this wrong information on Priyanka but it does on Gahar Khan. I wasted my 2+ hours watching this movie for Gauhar khan and Priyanka Chopra and i request wikipedia to remove this wrong information so others do not face the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Priya 1188r (talkcontribs) 10:32, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

@ Priya 1188r, Thank you for the note, I've removed the statement and started a discussion to hopefully resolve this issue. It would be a good idea you make a statement in the new discussion. Cheers, Mlpearc (open channel) 17:30, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Herbsaint

Why did you remove my minor edit from the Herbsaint page? All I said was that the name is almost an anagram of "absinthe", which is true. You can't call that "original research". It just... is. AllHailZeppelin (talk) 06:00, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia does not take the word of an editor/contributor within an article, your claim needs to be sourced before it will be allowed to stay. Mlpearc (open channel) 17:59, 30 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
But it's not a claim that needs to be sourced. Just take the letters of the words: a-b-s-i-n-t-h-e. Add an r and rearrange those, and you can form h-e-r-b-s-a-i-n-t. I'm not sure if that was part of the reason the makers of Herbsaint chose that as the name, in addition to the "Sacred Herb" reason, which is why I didn't say that it was. You could also argue whether it's important enough to be included in the article. I can understand thinking it's nothing more than a tidbit, but due to the history of the word absinthe being prohibited, I think it's appropriate.
So, to emphasize: If your claim would've been about the relevance of the statement, that could be debated. And if I had said that the "near-anagram-ness" was part of the reason Herbsaint was named what it was, that would need a source. But I simply said that the name is almost an anagram of absinthe, and anyone who knows what an anagram is should be able to figure out the one letter that keeps it from being a perfect anagram. Therefore, my edit didn't need to be sourced. That would be like saying that the statement needs to be sourced; to verify it, you don't need a credible source, just the knowledge of what the approximately-equal-to sign means. Similarly, my edit doesn't need a source to be verified, just the knowledge of what an anagram is. AllHailZeppelin (talk) 02:46, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I said nothing about sources, I said that your statement It is also very nearly an anagram of "absinthe" was personal opinion, which is considered Wikipedia:No original research. Mlpearc (open channel) 02:52, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
You literally said "your claim needs to be sourced before it will be allowed to stay." But alright, I get your point; I still don't agree with it though. If Herbsaint had two or three extra letters than absinthe, or if absinthe was spelled without an "e", or with a different vowel in place of the "a" or "i", then hardly anyone would consider the two near-anagrams. But considering that 8 of the 9 letters in Herbsaint are in absinthe, the statement "Herbsaint is nearly an anagram of absinthe" is one that no one would disagree with. It doesn't say they are anagrams, but almost. And again, given the history of the word absinthe being prohibited, I think its presence there has merit. Would it help to modify it to say "The name can also be seen as a near-anagram of absinthe", or something similar, or is that too much of a weasel-phrase? Abbythecat (talk) 22:39, 30 December 2013 (UTC)AbbythecatAbbythecat (talk) 22:39, 30 December 2013 (UTC) No problem, I've removed my other edits from the page and won't add anymore. I am a bit confused, as I mentioned my references in describing my edits, and the references are already on the page, so there'd be no reason to list them again, in short, I did what you told me to yet my edits were deleted anyway. Short of just writing something like "He recorded this song, according to this book..." (which would look bulky), or re-adding the same references at the end of the page (which would be duplicating) I see no other way to add them. So I won't. As I say, no problem, I was just trying to improve the page. His discography is missing a great deal of info (check it against his other discography page & see how much is missing!) & I was only trying to fill in the gaps and -- in time -- hopefully merge his 2 discography pages into one really solid good one. But since you are against this, then it's fine with me. Best to you. PS - I've been editing & creating pages since 2010, so I think I'm established. Also, I wrote a bit just now on davy's "talk" section you might want to read as I'd really like to finish this project. PS - as of 12/30/13 I have resubmitted my edits with improvements and cited references. Hope this does it. Your comment on request to change name (judgerc -> judgerc_gkkk04)

Thank you for your input and interest. I appreciate others pointing out to me the COI pages and information, which is why I requested the name change (which appears to be robo-approved at this point). I want to also note that at least one other editor, @FreeRangeFrog, has reviewed the sandbox version of the page on Judge Rotenberg Center that I wish to use to replace the current, non-neutral, non-balanced, and poorly-cited version (sandbox link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Judgerc/sandbox). I welcome your thoughts on this proposed replacement for the current article. Someone else has already pointed out potential issues with the very first cite I have included, which I am fine with deleting or searching for another replacement for. I am reluctant to further edit the sandbox version at this point as it has been submitted for review, and I'm not sure what effect on that process any edits I make now, would have. Other citations I have made in the sandbox version include updated and publicly accessible mass-media articles (such as Boston Globe) where current cites go to sites a user would have to "subscribe to" and give a credit card to read the article.

I understand completely the rules around why organizations and/or companies are discouraged from editing their own articles, but in this particular case, the person or people who submitted and/or edited the current article clearly had an axe to grind and a desire to place the entire focus on controversy and inflammatory information, not on a balanced description of the school. That, in my opinion, is not a neutral, encyclopedia-like, article. I am simply looking to correct that without taking out the history of controversy. Thanks! Judgerc (talk) 14:42, 13 January 2014 (UTC)judgerc / judgerc_gkkk04Reply

Hello Judgerc, your concern and agenda about your company's/group's article is commonplace among editors with conflict of interest concerns, but no doubt sincere, however, established editors will painstakingly challenge every edit you make to that article, no matter how impartial the edit seems. I would not take a stand with or against any "axe grinding" no matter the theme/direction of the grinder your input/position on the forefront would be tainted with your own "Biased axe". The best advise I can give is to adopt this as your editing bible and use {{edit protected}} for every edit you feel needs to be made/included. Good luck, thank you for your contributions ! Tina Louise and Bob's Burgers

Hey there, Mlpearc! Twice, you've deleted my edits to the 'Tina Louise' page wherein you feel that the choice to name two main characters of the show Bob's Burgers as "Tina" and "Louise" by an avowed Gilligan's Island fan was 'non-encyclocpediac; unrelated' and 'vague'. Okay, fair enough. Yet, just above, there is a reference to the name of an Asian Fusion restaurant in Carlsadt, New Jersey in the section 'References in Pop Culture'. 1) how is this relevant? 2) how is this encyclopediac? 3) how is this pop culture? 4) why does this pass the muster, when my comments are worthy of deletion before a half-hour is up, twice? I'm just curious! I trust you when you say you have no axe to grind, and are not being pedantic. I hope to read your well thought out answers on this very page, maybe at your usual prompt rate of response. yours, 117.199.177.104 (talk) 14:04, 16 January 2014 (UTC)tAotA117.199.177.104 (talk) 14:04, 16 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
