On November 25, 2008 I became a voluntary janitor for Wikipedia and now carry out many administrative tasks to help keep the wiki running, including deleting and protecting pages, performing blocks and unblocks and helping out the users on Wikipedia (which you don't have to be an admin to do). I encourage you to leave a message on my talk page if you have any comments, questions, concerns or requests for help. I hope you enjoy using Wikipedia, and decide to stay, if you do, please consider creating an account. Thehelpfulone My contributions     So you might be wondering what exactly I do around here on Wikipedia. Well, I help out in quite a few places: Request an account - Account creation requests, I help to create usernames for users who can't create one themselves, or whose names are too similar to an existing account so an admin/account creator usually will create them. Administrator intervention against vandalism - This is where vandals are reported to admins, so if you vandalise your name might pop up there! As an admin, I block users that are reported here. Usernames for administrator attention - Usernames that may require blocking because they violate the username policy are reported here. Wikipedia:Help Desk - The Help Desk is where users can ask questions about using Wikipedia. Feel free to go there whenever you need help, or go to our live help, at #wikipedia-en-help connect on the freenode network. Request for page protection - This is where users can request for pages to be [un]protected, because of vandalism or edit warring for example. Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents - for reporting and discussing incidents that require the intervention of administrators. User categories for discussion - the deletion, merging, or renaming of user categories are discussed here. Miscellany for deletion - where Wikipedians decide what should be done with problematic pages in the namespaces outside of the main namespace (also called the "article namespace") which aren't covered by other specialised deletion discussion areas. This is the network that Wikimedia uses (un-officially) and we have many channels on this network. If you would like to know more about the network please read this and if you wish to support the network, see this page. So what do I do on IRC? Well, I'm a 'channel operator' for many Wikimedia and other channels, which means that I make sure that everything is in order - no spamming, trolling or canvassing allowed! Any users that abuse the channels may be quietened or banned (like an administrator blocks users on Wikipedia) for a specific period of time.
