Week 2/ Ryan1232378

I edited the LVMH article on Wikipedia to include information about LVMH's acquisition of Swiza, owner of L’Epée 1839, in June 2024. You can see the changes in the diff link. Through this process, I learned about LVMH's strategic acquisitions to enhance its luxury watch division and the importance of preserving historic craftsmanship.

Ryan1232378 (talk) 13:39, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

@Ryan1232378 Please review the Wikipedia policies training materials again related to the first two pillars of Wikipedia. The edit you made included too many buzzwords and terms that appeared like marketing language and did not appear to be written from a Neutral point of view. Additionally, some of what you contributed appeared too close to the actual sources you used, which some could challenge as plagiarism (please review this part of the training on this). Please edit what you wrote and then ping me here and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 11:22, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I have revised the edit according to your suggestions, removing the excessive buzzwords and ensuring a neutral point of view. The revised content is in the following link: LVMH and the diff Ryan1232378 (talk) 06:10, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

week 2 / yz10411

hi this is Joanna Zhao, I edited: Marketing and artificial intelligence in wikipedia. expand more details in the introduction part. this is the previous version I don't know whether you could see it: Marketing and artificial intelligence from this assignment I learned that we could use the resources online professionally. and I did more research on the topic which I interested in. looking forward to the next assignment. Yz10411 (talk) 23:55, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Addition was uncited. But it was also merely cut'n'pasted (at best some was close-paraphrase) content from various (uncited) sources. I undid the edit. DMacks (talk) 04:26, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
@DMacks Thank you for the helpful feedback for my student. FULBERT (talk) 12:38, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
Glad to help. I'm not sure why so many pages of your students' have accumulated on my watchlist over the years:) I'd be happy to back off a bit if you (yourself, or plural your class) are feeling like I'm overly focused on them. DMacks (talk) 03:31, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
@DMacks I appreciate your help and suggestions. While I am trying to teach many people to use Wikipedia, having our community involved in this such as yourself demonstrates that this is not only a community effort but also that there are real people watching these articles, and as part of the ecosystem of free and open knowledge, this is as real as it can get. Week 2 / age497

Hello,

In the assignment for this week I made changes in the "ESG" article in Wikipedia. I made changes on the section of Firms where is talks about the implications of ESG in companies. I added information highlighting the financial challenges that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face when adopting ESG practices. Specifically, I noted that while large corporations have the resources to invest in sustainable technologies and practices, SMEs often struggle with the upfront costs associated with these initiatives. By doing this I learned the process on how to change/add information in articles in Wikipedia and the correct way to do it. Looking forward to Week 3.

@Ae2744 Did you see the follow-up edit that another editor did to your edit here, along with their edit summary? FULBERT (talk) 10:32, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
@Ae2744 Please give me your thoughts about what they wrote as a reply to me here, and then you will be complete with Week 2. FULBERT (talk) 10:32, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
@FULBERT Thanks for your reply, I had not seen that follow-up edit. I believe that my edit does not explicitly say that the impact of ESG regulations on SMEs is a fact or something 100% certain, what I got from the source was that it can be more difficult for business with those characteristics to successfully cope with them, that is why I used words like "can" or "may". 200.89.87.150 (talk) 16:25, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Week 2 / Garnix L

I edited the Volleyball on Wikipedia by adding the reference to the part of volleyball game rules change. Here is link diffGarnix L (talk) 15:30, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

@Garnix L Please finish all parts of this assignment for this week and then ping me here. Your edit should to include a sentence or two to express your contribution in context and demonstrate how it adds to the knowledge in the article before the citation. Also, write a sentence or two about what you learned in the process. Ping me here when done and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 12:08, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. There are some of my modifications, please let me know if have any suggestions.
  1. On contribution, by adding a reference to the official FIVB volleyball rules, I enhanced the credibility and accuracy of this description of rule changes, providing readers with an authoritative source of information.
  2. Through this process, I learned how to integrate primary sources with existing Wikipedia content, and how to properly cite official documents to support and verify information in the article. This practice not only improved the academic value of the article but also deepened my understanding of the evolution of volleyball rules

Week 2 / Jb022801

Hello everyone. I edited the SSENSE article about a e-commerce establishment that retails designer fashion and streetwear. I made two edits. The first edit was an addition to the text elaborating on SSENSE's overcoming of obstacles. The second edit consisted of including a citation. Here is the diff link [1]. Throughout this process I learned the importance of reliable sources because I noticed many of the references in this article to be from blogs. This resulted in the article being quite generic, broad, and ultimately unreliable. I will apply this lesson to my research project in class to ensure a reliable and comprehensive research paper. Thank you, Jb022801 (talk) 02:06, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

@Jb022801 Please assign yourself this article in the Dashboard and per the assignment add a sentence or two to your edit, as adding a citation alone is not as helpful as adding a sentence or two along with the citation. The citation itself is fine. Ping me here when done and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 10:32, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

I edited the Pet adoption article on Wikipedia by adding the contents of the responsibilities of pet dog ownership after pet adoption. diff link is here. Yz9988 (talk) 22:13, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

@Yz9988 Your edit does not fulfill the Wikipedia policy of using reliable, third-party WP:INDEPENDENT published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy WP:RELIABLE. As discussed in the assignment and class, always use a reliable source, such as an academic journal article or another high-quality reference. Avoid blogs, corporate websites, reviews, press releases, sources where we cannot determine author expertise or bias, and opinion pieces as they generally do not count as reliable sources. Please add a source to support your claim and then ping me here when done, and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 11:28, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
