Thanks for the note about 3RR for "ACN Inc."
I've done many things on Wikipedia, but I've never requested that a user be blocked for 3RR on the 3RR noticeboard. I was not aware that a warning was required for this (though it makes sense now), and I was looking for a valid reason to block a user who, based on your comment to me, was blocked anyway for a different reason. Why do you keep messing with my article
How come you keep deleting my Sherwood Dungeon article? you sudgested it for speedy deletion before it had been up for half an hour! You did not even give me enough time to finish writing it and assert its notability! I just seem to feel like it is because I made it and wrote it. What i meant to say was why do you keep destroying my Sherwood Dungeon article. It is played by 40,000 people a month. i think that that makes it noteable enough to be on wikipedia. Borderless World Volunteers
Thank you for your edit comments. I understand your reasoning behind flagging this article but I believe that according to the Wikipedia notability guidelines for organisations it says "Large organizations are likely to have more readily available verifiable information from reliable sources that provide evidence of notability; however, smaller organizations can be notable, just as individuals can be notable, and arbitrary standards should not be used to create a bias favoring larger organizations." While the organisation may not be Oxfam, it has been covered by news sources including the university newspapers, an article of which can be found at McGill Tribune Campus Newspaper. The organisation has a Board of Directors with professors from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, McGill and Oxford. It currently has over 800 members and is expanding quickly. I have seen small organisations on Wikipedia be covered. I really appreciate your help in keeping Wikipedia clean, but I do ask for your understanding in this matter. Re: Question about the contest
We never really made any provision for adding articles to the logs after the fact, so my initial inclination would be to avoid that particular can of worms and just limit it to keeping track of entries listed in the current month. Given that it's basically a "just for fun" thing, I don't think it's a big deal if some articles don't get counted. Kirill 04:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Post to delete
Did you read the part of my post that stated that according to WP:NPF (People who are relatively unknown) Wikipedia also contains biographies of people who, while notable enough for an entry, are not generally well known. Sir, I respect your position in the community. As such, I realize that perhaps edits (particularly of awards) should be made. However, please feel free to browse through the bios section for Airmen in the USAF. There are plenty. I do, therefore, believe that my service in the world's greatest Air Force and the resulting contributions to the digital forensics community make me, while not "generally well known" at least "notable enough for entry" (referring back to WP:NPF). Keep in mind that the target audience is the digital forensic community. Do you think that the listed publications do not warrant notability at least in that field. I sincerely request that you re-edit your post to state to keep with the action of editing awards and decorations. Also, just a heads up, you forgot to do the four tilde to sign the post. - Phyllis McCarthy is a dogbreeder who is included. Norm Augustinus is a podcaster who is included. How about this one? Carl Free is a Swedish businessman. Have you read through the bios? There are countless bios shorter and seemingly less significant than mine who are accepted (and rightfully so). The purpose of wikipedia is to share information. I want for my publications to be sought and known about by the digital forensic community for THEIR BENEFIT. I just so happened to post an originally poorly written bio at the same time that some people were trolling recent posts with a javascript program called Twinkle. That's the only reason my article is even questioned. While I may not warrant notability because of my military service specifically, I feel that my contributions to digital forensics is definitely notable (as do other people). I am even willing to remove the military infobox if you think that would be a fair article, but my contribs to digital forensics are notable, and I honestly don't understand how you don't see that. - How is it fair that people allow Charlene to post AGAINST the policy for deletion review?! This is not the place for debate. The debate page was closed long before there was ample time to debate the deletion of the article. "Remember that Deletion Review is not an opportunity to (re-)express your opinion on the content in question. It is an opportunity to correct errors in process (in the absence of significant new information), and thus the action specified should be the editor's feeling of the correct interpretation of the debate." Main page
Check this out: Wikipedia:Today's_featured_article/August_2007 for Aug 1st. Baden-Powell was a Brit general and founder of the Scout Movement. Aug is the 100th anniversary. We tried to get Brownsea Island Scout camp on the main page during the first week of August, but are happy with this anyway. I don't fight vandals much when something is on the main page, just check the version after it comes off with the final good pre-main page version. We've been sprucing it up the last few days. W. T. Marine Biographies
I just wanted to respond to the discussions you left on my talk page. I didn't realize there was a standard template, is there an MOS page with this info that I can reference? Though I admit that many of the pages I have made edits to have similarities, many are also very different. Many don't seem to have the same sections, many lack infoboxes, references, or links to related articles. In regards to the citations themselves I have seen several different styles, some are in blockquotes, some in italics, some in quotation marks and many don't have it at all. In addition to this the sections titles differ some call if Citation, Medal of Honor citation, Medal of honor etc. Not trying to be argumentative, just looking for calrification.--Kumioko 19:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
List of U.S. Marines
How about if I moved the page back to "List of famous U.S. Marines"? I mean the title of the page sould match the subject or subjects. The title as "is" really makes no sense at all, to the casual reader it call be misunderstood that it can refer to almost anyone who was or is a Marine. What do think? Would you please help me? I am trying to find the deletion discussions for Olga Karavaeva, I'm pretty sure the subject matter passes the notability requirements, and that the most recent delete was as a copyvio, one which came through ignorance of policy. I think Miss Karavaeva created the article herself, but it was a copyvio from her own website, and that the copyvio problem could be resolved by asking her to give herself permission to gnu license or to place the material in the public domain. If you would, could you copy the latest version of the article to User:Pedant/Olga Karavaeva for me. If possible I would also greatly appreciate if you could help me locate any deletion discussions or similar relevant material. Thanks very much for any of this that you can help me with. - Apparently the article was Olga karavaeva which you deleted 2006 August 11. I understand notability/vanity/COI/verifiability/reliable sources etc., (I helped write some of those policies), she is notable, and there is plenty of info on her from reliable sources, but someone else needs to write the article who isn't Olga and use resources besides her own website.
- I just don't have admin tools, and don't think I should have them, because I only access and edit Wikipedia in brief spurts. I don't want someone thinking they can ask for help from me and get a timely response. Can you please help me retrieve the deleted article and locate the deletion discussion?

Army medal of Honor website

Marine Corps MOH Citations
Sorry I thought I already got back with you on that. Here is the new link to the Marine Corps Historical Branch website were the citations can be found. http://www.tecom.usmc.mil/HD/Whos_Who.htm. Unfortunately not all of them are on there but its a start. I have already started to update some of them but there are a lot to go. Let me know if you are looking for anything else. Comment?
The MoH images are being removed from the infoboxes by Kumioko. I know that you went through a lot of trouble placing these in infoboxes, so I thought that I would ask you to comment on that. Tony the Marine 23:40, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, i edit VC articles and know that it can look good and act as a guide. Yet, if the correct infobox is being used then it will also list MOH under the awards section. The infobox is primarily a summary of their life, quick access to all the information. If a picture of the recipient is available then that should always be used. The medal can go later on in the paragraph. I apologise if you feel left out of the conservation, that was not my intention. I continued the discussion on the WT:MILHIST page because that is where the discussion would get the most "footfall". Infoboxes would start to get congestedif you started listing awards. Some would argue, perhaps erroneously, for the inclusion of other awards. What if someone is awarded honorary distinctions of a very "high Order", would we then include all of them? Do we show all the ribbons in the infobox? I think the main image should be the image of the recipient. I understand that this is a highly "emotional" (for lack of a better synonym) topic. These people are truly remarkable people who have done remarkable things. Yet each recipient is different. For some, this will be the defining moment in their life. For others this will be the start of even greater things. That is my opinion anyway. Woodym555 01:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

However, I do know for a fact that Mercer was a Marine, but what I'm going to do is let my son (who now writes for Ringside Reports), look up for any reliable source or sources. COBot changes
I have noticed a lot of pages getting modified by the COBot bot for people with different medals. Was that something that was consensus or a personal initiative on someones part. I know its not your bot but I figured you might now. --Kumioko 23:46, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- There was a series of CFDs on it--part of the craze to convert to lists. To get there, call up page history on the article, click on the cat in question, and click "this article's entry" on the cfd notice. If there are cats you're interested in, set a watch on the cat itself and you'll see when the notice tag is put there, that's what I do. Rlevse 23:53, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I wished I would have known about those conversations because I do not agree with their decission. I agree with the argument that some awards are relatively minor and don't rate to be a category but even in the case of the Medal of Honor with relatively few recipients the lists are extremely long and must be split up on multiple pages. If we create lists for recipients of the Air Medal which has many more recipients the lists may be thousands of members long or span a large number of pages. Too late now though I guess, just my 2 cents.--Kumioko 00:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Military Infoboxes and article templates
Thanks for the links to the templates and infoboxes. I have been working on scrubbing the existing articles making sure they all had infoboxes, make sure the lists are filled out and things like that but once I am done with that I was going to start filling in all the red links for the articles that are missing. Thanks for the info on the use of full middle name or initial when naming articles. I had asked that question a few times already and hadn't received an answer. In regards to using received versus award or win I read somewhere when I started doing it that the Medal of Honor is not a trophy or award and shouldn't be referred to as such. Smedley Butler photos
Thanks, for the photo templates I will get those fixed. I couldn't even find a mention of the snipers bullet (althought the book mentions that snipers were taking shots at them) so I removed it already. Iagree it would be a good topic on the talk page. I am going to see if I can get some info on that and a couple of other things from the folks at Marine Corps museum or at the archives but it may be this weekend before I get it. Sorry to be a bother but I had a couple of recommendations that I wanted to run by you. I saw that you made a change to the format of the findagrave template and I wanted to suggest another. I recommend that we add the Retrieved on and date thing to the end of the template. In regards to another template I wanted to suggest another change. I think we should modify the Age template to wikilink the from date like it does for the to date. Let me know what you think. Byrd's North Pole claim
Byrd took a sextant reading of the Sun at 7:07:10 GCT (1926-5-9). His erased diary record shows the solar altitude to be 19°22'34", while his later official typewritten report shows the same 7:07:10 altitude to be 18°15'32". (See Goerler 1998, compare pages 84-85 to page 154.) The bottom line is that Byrd knowingly falsified the navigational record of his flight and then tried to cover it up. If there is an innocent explanation for this, I have yet to hear it, from Portney or anyone else. Until then, the case against Byrd's 1926 claim should be considered to be factually established. - Exactly the opposite. As Byrd's claims have been widely accepted, the assertions that they are false need to be proven. What reliable sources have proven that these are the facts? Are there other sources who dispute this? Extraordinary claims require unquestionable sources. Is it generally accepted in the scientific community / among historians that the records were falsified? Template idea
Just had an idea and wanted to see if you would be interested. I was thinking about template boxes, much like the one for say Commandant of the Marine Corps, for all of the Major Subordinate Commands in the Marine Corps [1st - 6th Mar Div, 1st-4th & 9th Air Wing and 1st - 4th MLG (old FSSG)]. I am talking about the boxes that state current, preceded and succeeded by information. Just a thought and I wouldn't want to go any lower than this level b/c at least they are all general officers here. List of Marine units
I've been thinking about reorganizing the various lists of USMC units, and wanted your input on the matter (since you are heavily involved in USMC articles). I spell out my idea here, but here is the gist: I think it would be best to group units together by which component of the MAGTF they fulfill: Ground combat, Aviation, Combat Service Support, Other, and Inactive. This makes five very comprehensive lists, in hierarchical order, and much easier for a civillians to see and understand teh organization of the Corps, as well as make it easy for a Marine to find a specific unit. bahamut0013♠♣ 00:01, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Use of "public domain" templates in References section
- Thanks for the info, I wasn't done yet, my intent was to do a few and then go back and add the inline citations. Since were on the subject though I do have a questions about it. Actually 2 questions. The first is when you have 2 sites with like information, like the Marine Corps whos who link and DANFS (for the sake of this we'll say the date and place of birth). Which one takes precedence or should you use both as inline citations. My intent was to use both as citations in case 1 stops working and to help validate the information. The 2nd is along the same lines but in this case its more specific to the Medal of Honor citation. I can list at least 5 sites that display the Medal of Honor citation and I was wondering if it was appropriate to list them all as references and or inline citations. Great job on the research! After watching the trolls on the 9/11 talk page today, it's nice to wade back into more interesting issues with experienced editors who know how to communicate their ideas effectively. Hey, thanks for you note regarding the subject. I'm afraid my mentoring role clearly hasn't been taken up too well by Ms Harrison who doesn't seem to have grasped the idea of COI or spamming. Shame really. So, as I said at the MfD for her sandbox, as long as someone has asked her to stop spamming and if she intends to do anything furthe with her sandbox, I'll be more than happy for someone to delete the sandbox and, if needed, block her account and her IP from adding more spam. I won't take offence, it's too hot for me to do that! As you're probably aware, I can't do too much, I'm in an internet cafe in Vang Vieng at the moment so not particularly secure for admin work... For your watch list in 2008
In 2007, it was announced that Robert Leckie's book Helmet for My Pillow and Eugene B. Sledge's With the Old Breed, would form the basis for the HBO series The Pacific. ISounds like it will be the Marine equivalent to Band of Brothers. With this in mind I thought it might be a good idea to spruce up the articles that may get some added attention because of the series. From looking at the 2 books I would say that 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, 2nd Battalion 1st Marines and 1st Marine Division will be the big unit pages. ALong with the pages for the authors themselves which need some sprucing up I wouldn't be surprised if we need to create one for Andrew Haldane see this and look at Sledge's Book around page 38. He may be the Richard Winters equivalent for a portion of the series. That is all I can think of to start but I am sure this list will expand some in the future.
These are just some initial thoughts. I am sure the miniseries will generate some more traffic on those pages. Let me know what you think. --Looper5920 (talk) 20:31, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Aces Table
We had talked about this earlier and I took about 5 minutes and put a very rough draft together. It can be found in my sandbox. Just scroll down a bit. There is a very good one already available on the net so in order to make this worth it so I am trying to think about what we can do to really make this stand out. The other point to note is that the website only lists 118 aces while the Sherrod book (i.e. the bible for WWII USMC aviation info) lists 120. I'll have to figure out what the deal is. I'm sorry that you want to escalate this to be a personal issue. If you chose to view my attempts to mediate an edit dispute by directing parties to work on the article's talk page to come to a consensus as reflecting poorly on me, that is unfortunate. While you clearly don't agree with my deletion or comments, calling them lame, a jihad, threats, or uncivil is going toward crossing the line on civility and personal attacks. Quoting from relevant Wikipedia policy:
- WP:CIVIL — Civility applies to editing "[articles] and writing edit summaries, comments, and talk page discussions." Calling editors "lame" and referencing "jihad" are not civil comments.
- WP:NPA — Unacceptable comments include "religious, ..., ethnic, or other epithets" Calling an editor's actions a "jihad" is such a personal attack.
- WP:Vandalism — Wikipedia's definition — "Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia....Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism." My deletion was made in good faith, not as a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. While you threaten to view this as vandalism, it clearly is not according to Wikipedia. I did assume good faith on your part (see my edit summary), did you the courtesy of communicating to you on your talk page to let you know what issues I saw, and did not block you. I did implore you to use the talk page for discussion rather than escalate it to the point that 3RR would be an issue. This was not a threat, it was a reminder.
- WP:BLP — "The burden of evidence for any edit on Wikipedia, but especially for edits about living persons, rests firmly on the shoulders of the person who adds or restores the material." Therefore, the burden of proof that the edits belong belongs on the editor adding the material. I do not have a "personal POV" with respect to this addition — rather, I requested on the talk page that the editors who had a dispute on the content discuss it. I did not take the heavy-handed approach of protecting the page.
The article's talk page is the appropriate place to work towards consensus. I note that Rlevse has been discussing on the talk page and has been working toward a compromise. Your recent addition of a single quote from the documentary seems aimed at making a point

In the best case, it can lead to an unencyclopedic article. In the worst case, it can be a serious violation of our policies on neutrality. When in doubt, biographies should be pared back to a version that is completely sourced, neutral, and on-topic." when there is no privacy issue, the material was well-sourced, and you yourself found it necessary to include a passing film mention as encyclopedic without bothering to ask anyone's permission. The NPOV concerns are nonsensical, as they exist equally with the McCain film details you've added, which also has its own NPOV issues that have been left ignored. Overall, the bottom line is that none of the issues you raised have any validity. The most disturbing aspect of your actions are the threats made on my talk page which appear intended to push me away from further editing of the article and to leave the one-sided presentation of the article undisturbed. I do believe Ben's story. I may just be a sucker, but it has a ring of truth to it. I actually knew about Alex living with Ben's family, as Ben and I have corresponded via MySpace and email since things went pearshaped. Maybe he is scamming me, but I think the threat to give all the info I have to his school has scared him into stopping any nonsense he may have been involved in. Also, his story about the others pretending to be him has been remarkably consistent for weeks now. That, coupled with the emails from Joe (the friend who was impersonating him) convince me that he is telling the truth now. I know there is a thin line between AGF and naiveté, but I would hope the community can give him one last chance, and let me try to mentor him strictly.
