Silver Star and Ethan Place

Concerning Silver Star recipients: The Category:Recipients of the Silver Star medal can be visited to find those who have articles. As you will note in the Silver Star article, it is the third highest decoration given by the U.S. military for gallantry in combat, preceded by the Navy Cross (which is the award given to U.S. Marines). The Silver Star itself was established in 1942; its predecessor was the Citation Star. "Home of Heroes" gives an estimate of between 100,000 and 150,000 recipients World War I recipients of the Citation Star. During the War in Iraq alone, there have been over 200 awards of the Silver Star, 74 to Marines. In addition, there is currently no official database of Silver Star recipients, so creating a comprehensive list would be difficult from both the point of sheer numbers and accuracy.

For a particular Silver Cross recipient, such as Ethan Place, if he meets the criteria for notability and you can find reliable sources on which to build an article, please feel free to create one. In this case, any article must also follow the the policies for Biographies of living persons.
