Recent changes

• The Unified login system's edge login should now be fixed for some browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera). This means that if you visit a new sister project wiki, you should be logged in automatically without the need to click "Log in" or reload the page. Feedback on whether it's working for you is welcome. [1]
• Edit notices are now available within the MobileFrontend/Minerva skin. This feature was inspired by the gadget on English Wikipedia. See more details in T316178.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 October. It will be on all wikis from 19 October (calendar).

Future changes

• In 3 weeks, in the Vector 2022 skin, code related to addPortletLink and #p-namespaces that was deprecated one year ago will be removed. If you notice tools that should appear next to the "Discussion" tab are then missing, please tell the gadget's maintainers to see instructions in the Phabricator task.

(Except the rebranded developer name "Planforge GmbH" - it was not reviewed yet in the german article - it still says "ONEPOINT Projects GmbH" but I have already updated it in the german article, too, as this is not right anymore. Source: https://www.planforge.io/en/imprint)

Thus, I don't understand, how the draft could not be accepted, as the exact same german article I translated it from, already exists on wikipedia for a long time. Furthermore, as it is a translation, it would be wrong, if I now wrote it completely different than the german one, right?

Recent changes

• The Structured Content team, as part of its project of improving UploadWizard on Commons, made some UX improvements to the upload step of choosing own vs not own work (T347590), as well as to the licensing step for own work (T347756).
• The Design Systems team has released version 1.0.0 of Codex, the new design system for Wikimedia. See the full announcement about the release of Codex 1.0.0.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 31 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 November. It will be on all wikis from 2 November (calendar).
• Listings on category pages are sorted on each wiki for that language using a library. For a brief period on 2 November, changes to categories will not be sorted correctly for many languages. This is because the developers are upgrading to a new version of the library. They will then use a script to fix the existing categories. This will take a few hours or a few days depending on how big the wiki is. You can read more. [3][4]
• Starting November 1, the impact module (Special:Impact) will be upgraded by the Growth team. The new impact module shows newcomers more data regarding their impact on the wiki. It was tested by a few wikis during the last few months. [5]

Future changes

• There is a proposed plan for re-enabling the Graph Extension. You can help by reviewing this proposal and sharing what you think about it.
• The WMF is working on making it possible for administrators to edit MediaWiki configuration directly. This is similar to previous work on Special:EditGrowthConfig. A technical RfC is running until November 08, where you can provide feedback.

• In the Vector 2022 skin, the default font-size of a number of navigational elements (tagline, tools menu, navigational links, and more) has been increased slightly to match the font size used in page content. [6]

Problems

• Last week, there was a problem displaying some recent edits on a few wikis, for 1-6 hours. The edits were saved but not immediately shown. This was due to a database problem. [7]

• Following a motion, the contentious topic designation of Prem Rawat has been struck. Actions previously taken using this contentious topic designation are still in force.
• Following several motions, multiple topic areas are no longer designated as a contentious topic. These contentious topic designations were from the Editor conduct in e-cigs articles, Liancourt Rocks, Longevity, Medicine, September 11 conspiracy theories, and Shakespeare authorship question cases.
• Following a motion, remedies 3.1 (All related articles under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned), 6 (Stalemate resolution) and 30 (Administrative supervision) of the Macedonia 2 case have been rescinded.
• Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
• An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.

Miscellaneous

• The Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in November 2023, with 700+ drafts pending reviews for in the last 4 months or so. In addition to the AfC participants, all administrators and New Page Patrollers can conduct reviews using the helper script, Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. Your rejection of Kunitama

I am quite confused about your rejection of the draft Kunitama. It has 4 sources that definitely count as

• in-depth (not just passing mentions about the subject)
• reliable
• secondary
• independent of the subject

of which the bulk of the article cites from

And a few for specific claims related to local Kunitama.

And it is quite radically improved over the previous rejection which only had two sources.

@Immanuelle, I didn't come across significant coverage in the source you provided. The first source only had a brief paragraph about the topic, and I haven't found a source that delves into this topic in depth yet. @DreamRimmer, while I agree that the first source is not in-depth, it is an encyclopedia article. Having an entry in an encyclopedia is an extremely strong indicator of notability. Problems

• Last week, users who previously visited Meta-Wiki or Wikimedia Commons and then became logged out on those wikis could not log in again. The problem is now resolved. [14]

Future changes

• Reference Previews are coming to many wikis as a default feature. They are popups for references, similar to the PagePreviews feature. You can opt out of seeing them. If you are using the gadgets Reference Tooltips or Navigation Popups, you won’t see Reference Previews. Deployment is planned for November 22, 2023.
• Canary (also known as heartbeat) events will be produced into Wikimedia event streams from December 11. Streams users are advised to filter out these events, by discarding all events where meta.domain == "canary". Updates to Pywikibot or wikimedia-streams will discard these events by default. [16]

I'm not well-versed in these topics, but I've been keeping an eye on this LTA for some time. They consistently attempt to insert incorrect and misleading information into articles about Indian castes, dynasties, Turkish dynasties, and Muslim dynasties and tribes. I'll continue watching these articles. @Asilvering, recently, some LTAs have been consistently injecting a Gurjar perspective into articles about Indian and Muslim dynasties. Unfortunately, these LTAs have created several hoax articles about Gurjar clans by directly copying names and content from legitimate dynasties and clans. This specific article follows a the similar pattern, relying on the works of Gurjar writer Javaid Rahi as its sources. Articles that haven't been reviewed aren't indexed by search engines for 90 days. Hi. I noticed you posted a copyright violation tag on the article Calleigh Duquesne earlier today. However, I think the copyright violation went the other way. The website with the very similar content was created sometime during July 2007, with content that had been already on Wikipedia for a while at that point. Tvx1 23:50, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

@Tvx1, I couldn't find information on whether Wikipedia or the website published the content first. That's why I added a tag, as cases without clear copyright licensing information and publishing dates should be treated as possible copyright violation. I wasn't certain about the violation, so I just tagged it with a non-free tag. In cases where I am sure, I follow the cleanup-revdel or G12 processes. An AfDed article should be marked as reviewed to remove it from the NPP queue. I was unsure, so I only tagged it, thinking someone with more information could take appropriate action. By the way, how do you know that the content was first posted on Wikipedia and later on that site in July 2007? – DreamRimmer (talk) 01:54, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Is not that difficult to find a tool to check a website’s age. Using one I found that the website was created during July 2007 and the edit history of our article already shows the disputed content by May of that year. Tvx1 12:21, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Just a reminder, Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia open for everyone to edit. I know Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, I requested to protect that page later, but someone else had already requested to protect it on the security page, so I Have created a page, but anyone can make changes in the article, I have no problem with it nor will I, I am happy that the person on whom the article has been created is now going to serve as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, I made a mistake. Asking you questions on this topic, but it would be better for me to leave from here, please forgive me, but I have seen minor vandalism on that article recently, I know that it takes hard work of an editor to create an article. And it also takes a lot of time, the only reason was that considering you a good friend, your members had come for the talks, but now it is better for me to go.
