UAA instructions

Only report accounts with edits and do not report those with no edits in the preceding 2 weeks. Do not report a user that has not edited or has not edited in the preceding 2 weeks, except for an instance of an egregious name violation. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste time dealing with accounts that may never be used. Best, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:09, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Hello dear @Deepfriedokra:, I will now take care of what you have told me and report just when needed. I apologise for the error; have a pleasant day.--SanemAyhan07 (talk) 18:27, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

Reverting vandalism

Please go back and look at the edits. I am a recent changes patroller and was just reverting vandalism on Benedict Allen. Please remove the post on my page after you look into this. TriskySeskel (talk) 13:50, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Liliair Article

Hello DreamRimmer, I am sorry for not putting any Sources into my article. This is because I have done my research in german (my native language) and figured that most readers wouldn't understand my sources anyway. If you want, I can put them in. ShortKingBen (talk) 15:25, 9 April 2023 (UTC)

US Open Cup locations

I updated the locations based on the US Open Cup website, which stated that several teams aren’t going to be playing at home. Could you undo the change please thank you. 159.115.9.43 (talk) 18:18, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello there, by citing a trustworthy source, you can ensure that your edits to that page are acceptable under Wikipedia's policies. DreamRimmer (talk) 18:32, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

DreamRimmer,
I did quite a bit of work researching and editing the Rosalia de Souza wiki page. I tried to leave source citations but had great difficulty getting the editing software to accept them. I kept trying and they kept disappearing. I finally was able to leave one (7 - Discogs, March 2023) but that was all I was able to get your system to take. And you took it out.
It's too bad that you found the modifications unacceptable because they were based on multiple updated sources, like a new album and her more singles and EPs. Wikipedia makes it very difficult for people who are not experts with its software to contribute to a wiki page, and add important information. And I assume that you don't contact the individuals featured in the profiles so they can update their own information. That's an issue because wikipedia comes up first when doing an online search. Jcauus (talk) 19:52, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
To ensure that readers receive relevant, free information, a number of policies must be adhered to on Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to edit Wikipedia, but if you don't abide by its rules, your edits could be undone. DreamRimmer (talk) 20:09, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

What?

Why? HumanBeing69420 (talk) 18:44, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

You included external links in the body of the article that were not acceptable according to WP:ELPOINTS, thus whenever you find a reliable link, avoid including it directly in the article and instead use it as a source. For more details, check WP:CITESTYLE. DreamRimmer (talk) 19:10, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Why was I even blocked?
Did I do something? Do reply Johnnyprick (talk) 12:36, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
You removed content from the 2023 Cricket World Cup article without providing a valid reason and continued to do so after numerous warnings, so Euryalus blocked you for 48 hours in accordance with Wikipedia rules. DreamRimmer (talk) 12:58, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

Your name change was reverted because you didn't provide a source for it. While making changes, you should reference reliable sources. DreamRimmer (talk) 12:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Cities Aviv

You restored content that had been removed by another user, with the edit summary Unexplained content removal. The removal was explained, if only briefly, and certainly with the dubious removing false content. But did you examine the content that you were restoring? These were fairly serious allegations of sexual misconduct made by anonymous Twitter and Reddit accounts. I should think that Wikipedia has a higher standard for reliable sources than these, especially where biographies of living persons are involved. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:22, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Hello, @WikiDan61; I restored that version because it was added many days ago, and many editors saw it and fixed the article and content since then. You stated that the user provided a summary when removing that information, but he did not explained why that information is incorrect. When I was reviewing previous versions, it felt acceptable to bring this content back. I am well-versed in biographies of living persons, and I am also aware that Twitter and Reddit sources are untrustworthy. If you believe I made a mistake, please accept my apologies. Your warning on User talk:Kautharabdul

Hello, you sent Kautharabdul a warning about embedded links ... but you should have sent them a spam warning, because they were adding blatant spam. Most embedded link additions like this are spam and should be treated accordingly. Graham87 03:34, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

I chose this warning because I believed the links to be relevant to the article's subject. DreamRimmer (talk) 04:10, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
See our guideline about external links spam. Generally if a site hasn't been linked before by any other experienced editors, it's safe to assume that its addition is spam. Graham87 11:04, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
@Graham87, It is not necessary for all of the links placed after that to be spam. The reason for this is that all of the readers of Wikipedia are IP only, and if they find anything lacking, they attempt to contribute something according to their own preferences, unaware of the rules that apply. As a result, they inserted links in the middle of the article. After that, an editor decides if they are spam based on his or her experience. I did not consider them spam links, but rather external links, because they had not been advertised in such a way that we would consider them spam at that moment. It is common for others to judge your experience if you have fewer edits. Still, you know more than I do; therefore, I will put it properly in the future. DreamRimmer (talk) 13:31, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
Yeah you're probably assuming way too much good faith here, a tendency that will probably reduce with experience (but hopefully not too much.) Many many editors try to promote their own website/pet cause here, in violation of the conflict of interest guideline, to the point that WikiProject Spam has existed since September 2005! If you see an editor adding an embedded link to a reputable news site or something that seems to have been added as a good-faith reference, then sure, use the warning template about embedded links ... but I've very rarely found this sort of template useful and I didn't even know it existed until you pointed it out. Thanks for agreeing to change your editing behaviour and happy editing! Graham87 13:48, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

The Hives (band)

Hi there,

I believe my edit on The Hives (band) has been removed incorrectly. Any advice on how to get this restored? Twentyfourevan (talk) 11:43, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

@Twentyfourevan, Your change was reverted because you inserted that information without any source. You are free to do so if you support your statements with credible references. DreamRimmer (talk) 11:53, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

Harry Gray's Wikipedia Page

Hi, you deleted my edits to Harry Gray's Wikipedia Page stating that I had no references. Here is the reference: https://cce.caltech.edu/people/harry-b-gray?back_url=%2Fpeople%3Fcategory%3D%26category%3D3%26search%3D%26submit%3DSearch%2B%25C2%25A0%2B%253E The information on Wikipedia goes up to 2013, so I thought it needed updating to 2023 (10 years forward). If you have the means to update it from the Caltech Official Website, then please do it. If not, it will remain outdated. 131.215.40.15 (talk) 20:01, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

You directly copied and pasted all the information from an external website on that page, which was infringing copyright, so your edits have been reverted and your revisions have also been deleted. I removed your edits because you didn't provide any references at the time, and when an administrator noticed it, your revisions were also deleted for copyright infringement. DreamRimmer (talk) 01:22, 3 May 2023 (UTC)

User talk:MandaeanHistoricalResearch

Yes, the edit was bad, but it wasn't spam. Incorrect explanations tend to frustrate newcomers, especially since they are being thrown all of this policy about how they should be adding more links. Please AGF and try to correct problematic edits instead of going the easy way and reverting. (Roundish t) 17:55, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

@Roundish, you're correct, of course, but I reverted it since it appeared to me to be a forum. In addition, I respect the intentions behind such changes. DreamRimmer (talk) 18:08, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi DreamRimmer. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:30, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hi DreamRimmer. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 00:55, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
