Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

You inserted an extremely large file without restricting the display size of the image, resulting in it taking up a very large amount of screen space. In fact, the image took up about as much space on the screen as the entire rest of the article, which made it basically unreadable on most devices. Actualcpscm (talk) 17:43, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable non-free use File:Eden-gardens,Kolkata.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Eden-gardens,Kolkata.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 21:11, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Gca-logo offical source.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Gca-logo offical source.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 21:16, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Non-free images edit

Use of non-free images must meet all of the non-free content criteria. For your image uploads in particular, none of them satisfy WP:NFCC#1 on replaceability. All of the images you have uploaded can be replaced by free images because the articles already have free images of the stadiums. Even if there were no free images, a free image could be made of the stadiums so they are still considered replaceable with a free image. Please do not upload any more non-free images to replace free images. They will be deleted. -- Whpq (talk) 17:43, 16 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Tata-ipl-logo.png edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Tata-ipl-logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Orphaned non-free image File:Gca-logo offical source.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Gca-logo offical source.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:17, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Images- final warning edit

Stop uploading incorrect fair use images- you have 11 warnings on your talkpage for the same thing. You seem to be making useful article space edits, so focus on that, not on uploading files, as you clearly don't have a good grasp of WP:NFCCP. If you upload anymore images, I will ask at WP:ANI for you to be blocked, as this is disruptive. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:38, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Use of non-free content can be confusing. Please read over the guidelines before you upload more non-free content. If you need help or have questions about non-free images, you can post your questions at Media Copyright Questions. I am posting this message because of this edit. The use of the logo for the cricket association in an article about a stadium is simply not appropriate use of a non-free logo. And the stated purpose you provided "Used to illustrate the official Gujarat Cricket Associatioan seal." isn't really a good purpose, and more of a tautology. This is not the logo for the cricket grounds and so its use here does not meet the significant context needed for WP:NFCC#8. -- Whpq (talk) 18:22, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also, uploading 3 copies of the same logo, all for the same article and all with different (all incorrect) rationales for fair use it not helpful. And non-free logos of (cricket) organisations can only be used on the page for that organisation i.e. it the logo seems fine on Gujarat Cricket Association, as it's their logo, but not on any other article.
