Yeh, the map I've made has got some errors I'll correct in the comming days. Thanks for having noticed them. By the way 16. Inca, El and 17. Iñaquito is right, because in spanish "ñ" is still a letter that comes after the "n", at least I haven't read yet any change announced by La Real Academia de la Lengua. Grettings.

Population of Quito

Hi! Apparently you thought that the first figure of the population estimate was wrong, but it is actually 1 instead of 2, according to that Web page. The number I copied is the one under "Quito urbano", given that at least the number under "suburbano" is for rural parishes. The number under "total distrito" is the number for the whole canton. Why are only the teams eliminated added? Previously the 08 box, showed the current teams too. I'll edit it again, until you check, but if you edit it out again, then i'll talk to you again later.

Updating 'Date'

Hi, I am really trying to understand your point of view, so maybe we can discuss it in our discussion pages instead of doing all these reverts. I will give you an example. If Serie A last played on March 15, but the classification was not updated until March 19, the date used at the bottom of the classification will still be March 15, and not March 19. If someone finds an error in the classification on March 21, the date will still remain March 15. Given this, my message would say "UPDATED TO GAMES PLAYED ON MARCH 15, 2009" which makes sense. Your message would say "LAST UPDATED ON MARCH 15, 2009" which does not reflect what is happening. Believe me when I say, the editors use the 'last game played' date when choosing the date, that way they know which games are missing and which games need to be added. Hi, I was just wondering what's the point of the page Primera División de Paraguay 2009 when there are already 2009 in Paraguayan football and Torneo Apertura 2009 (Paraguay) which cover the same thing, won't this create the same thing that has happen in the Argentine season football articles and is yet to be resolve?--Bocafan76 (talk) 06:21, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, again I understand what you mean about the "XXXX in country football" articles, I myself enjoy how the european season articles are done and also how you have manage the Ecuadorian league articles, the only problem I see is having the editors of other leagues change their current format, an another thing is the fact that there is a lack of information in some of the other latin american leagues an having more than the "XXXX in country football" is more than enough since you won't find any other information, I know 'cause I have work on different "XXXX in country football" articles like the one for Paraguay, Uruguay, Guatemala and the one of Argentina as you well know, but as far as I go I agree with you, but I don't know about everybody else or their willingness to change, maybe you should try to talk to the main editors of the articles an just maybe they agree to change the current format.Good Luck --Bocafan76 (talk) 07:42, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, part 3 :) , well since this seasons are already in some cases half way of almost half way through I won't change them now, instead I will try to improve some of the season articles if possible next season, so they might be inline with their European counterparts. I know that the one of Argentina for sure as well as the one for Guatemala since I am their main editor, Paraguay and Uruguay not sure, but we'll see. There are 2 tournaments each year, it does not work the way it does in Europe, where there is only 1 tournament a year. also the Final is Officially called la Ligilla. Also I have reason to suspect that either you are a sock puppet of Black and Blue, Since he also shows up alot in the edit history, of this page. Image Primera División de México Clausura 2009

Hey, I do like what you have redone with the article but, there are two things I have written under discussion, that I will just paste here. On the stage names, I was looking through the FEMEXFUT site and could not find a direct translation to "Liguilla" thus why it has been named Liguilla on the engilsh version of this article. The reason the Liguilla has its own article is because the champions and the champions league qualification comes out of the Liguilla not from the regular season. The regular season only give teams the opportunity to qualify to the Liguilla and give spots in the South American tournaments. The Liguilla in the end has the same importance as the MLS Cup Playoffs since the champions are derived from that phase of the tournament.Hazerduz (talk) 16:54, 28 April 2009 (UTC-6)

Misspelling Quiroz

Can you please help fix the last name Quiroz with no written accent? [2]. Quiroz because it ends in z has no written accent, not the same for Quirós because it ends in s. You're right, and wrong. You are right that Quiroz is without an accent. But you are wrong in that it should have no accent because it ends in a Z. My last name has a Z (Ramírez), and is written with an accent. Same goes with Hernández, Fernández, Rodríguez, Chávez, Vélez, Pérez, Álvarez, etc (pretty much every Spanish patronymic) is written with an accent and end with a Z. Thank you for your response for the edit. Actually, I can accept most of your point, but the third one is the one I am arguing with, and I don't agree with it.
Of course, I know that Team #1 vs. Team #2, and the game would not take aggregate result but the points between two teams. However, there is no rule that the Team #1 must be the higher seeded team in two-leg template practice. I know that CONMEBOL listed that higher seeded teams are the home team at the second leg, that mean the lower seeded teams are the home team at the first leg. According to the practice in CONCACAF Champions League 2008-09 English Wikipedia article, the home team of the first leg were listed as Team #1 despite the fact that CONCACAF listed those teams which play at home at second leg first. It shows that most of the editors prefer the home team at first leg as Team #1, despite the fact that the home team at the second leg listed first officially. Raymond Giggs 08:14, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

If seeding are important in the table, then the group winners should be the Team #1 in every article, strongly especially UEFA CL, as they regarded the group winners as home team. 2009 Copa Libertadores Final

I noticed you started the 2009 Copa Libertadores Final. I was wondering if it would be ok to move it to 2009 Copa Libertadores Finals considering a final isn't played like in the Champions League. If you look at it that way, then the first-leg would just be some game and the second-leg would be considered the "Final". Think about it. When you see the title 2009 Copa Libertadores Final. you'd expect to see one game like in the World Cup Final or Champions League Final. Yet in the Copa Libertadores you'll find two "finals". That's not fair. When you discovered that the different stages in the Copa Libertadores 2009 are called First/Second and not Preliminary/Group stage you changed it and you had evidence that it should be changed. Then I do the same thing and you don't listen. The English documents aren't reliable because they have a lot of mistranslations and use of Spanglish. --MicroX 01:17, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Economy section, Miami Dade County

I'm fine with the addresses being taken away. However the companies themselves should stay:

• While there is more than Burger King, you should add {{expand|section}} to indicate that the section is not complete
• I was really listing companies in unincorporated Miami-Dade - I added back BK and I added Air Florida, which no longer exists. I know at the end, Eastern Airlines was in the Miami area. I'll see where it was. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:49, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Colombian league

The Colombia league will no longer be allowed to be called Copa Mustang next year. Would it be called by its new sponsored name or simply Colombian Primera A in the wikipedia article? I was looking at the Reglamentacion published by DIMAYOR of Colombia. In Articles 21 and 32, they mention these divisions known as Primera A and Primera B. I assume Primera B is the second division and that the Primera A is the Copa Mustang. Would you be interested in renaming the article Colombian Professional Football to something like Colombian Primera A so we can get that Copa Mustang out of the way? --MicroX (talk) 06:15, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Starting round of Corinthians in Copa Libertadores 2010

Do you understand Portuguese? I'm reading the 2009 Brazilian league regulations [3]. On Page 3, Article 7, it explains the qualification for Copa Libertadores 2010. Now if my educated guess is correct, according to the file, it seems to say:

a) If the Copa Libertadores 2009 champion is Brazilian, then #1 and #2 go to Second Phase, and #3 and #4 go to First Phase.

b) If the Copa Libertadores 2009 champion is not Brazilian, then #1, #2, and #3 go to Second Phase, and #4 goes to First Phase.

If this is correct, it'd imply that Corinthians, being the Copa do Brazil champion, would go to Second Phase regardless of whether the Copa Libertadores 2009 champion is Brazilian or not. Chanheigeorge (talk) 05:41, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I am in the process of requesting a bot to be made to move the English season articles to have the year first. However, I am not sure how to proceed with the articles in Category:The Football League seasons, as moving the year to the front would look a bit odd (e.g. 2009–10 The Football League). Do you think, in this case, we should just drop the "The", or is there another solution I've overlooked? – PeeJay 08:52, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

I think that keeping the "The" looks weird whether we add "season" or not. Personally, I'd prefer to stick with 2009–10 Football League. – PeeJay 09:44, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Veracity of edits

Do you have sources on Ecuadorian football stats to verify or challenge a series of edits by a Spain-based unregistered editor? He (or she) seems to be increasing the number of caps players have earned, or giving them an earlier date for first cap, which makes me suspect that he is including games that are not full internationals, or is counting call-ups rather than actual participation in a game. I don't think adding live scores in italics is emphasizing anything. Sure, it's treated differently, but this is simply to inform the reader that this match has not finished yet. Posting match results is as much acting as a news service as posting live scores. Anyway, to save argument, I won't add the two goals that were just scored. Cheers mate. I didn't say white space wasn't necessary in some cases. It's not necessary in the case of the 2009 Canadian Soccer Championship article as in my browser, nothing is affected without your additional formatting code. 2010 Copa Sudamericana

I know it's strange because the source says that all countries except Argentina and Brazil will gain an extra berth but then it says Argentina and Brazil will keep their 5 berths. Well, they never had 5 berths but it does say they will keep berths. I don't know if the source meant to put they will now have 5 berths (like in the Libertadores) or if they are keeping their 8 (Brazil) and 4 (Argentina) berths. Argentina has 4 berths because the other 2 berths were the Boca Juniors and River Plate invitations and apparently they won't be invited anymore. I'm just going to leave it like that to use less space and until CONMEBOL becomes clear about the subject. --MicroX (talk) 19:49, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that source probably just meant keep berths for Sudamericana but were thinking of the 5 berths of the Libertadores. An honest mistake. Or the CONMEBOL probably said "keep the 5 berths for Sudamericana" and they, the source, just repeated what the CONMEBOL said and the CONMEBOL ended up making the honest mistake. --MicroX (talk) 20:24, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Christian Benitez

You can do both in England as well, and many do. But the Luke Freeman discussion concludes that, for the infobox, once a player has played for a club at senior level, he is into the senior part of his career, whether or not he plays for his club's junior sides thereafter. Life's too short to revert-war over it, but that's how I understand it's supposed to work :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:23, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I'd guess it's an arbitrary decision based on practicalities rather than on assuming there's no overlap between youth and senior careers. In very recent years in England the Premier League has run an Academy league with strict age rules, but reserve teams are open-age, and junior teams of lower-ranked clubs play in structures without such strict age rules, as did all teams until not long ago, so it's very fluid. To source the year at which any given player last played a "youth" match would be difficult, apart from at the biggest clubs, so I'd assume a convention grew up that a player's senior career was deemed to begin when he turned professional or played for a senior team, of which the Luke Freeman decision was an extreme case. (There were related discussions at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 27#Infobox's and Template talk:Infobox Football biography#Proposal to change infobox section title.) United Soccer Leagues 2009

I realize you are just trying to edit the page to match the rest of soccer, but there are a few things different about this page. First, we don't use the standard win-draw-loss standings format in America (as well as in Canada), here we use win-loss-tie, which is why we have our own wikitable format we use for our football/soccer standings. This is consistent with the rest of the soccer pages here, including the MLS pages, where there has been a good amount of discussion on what table format to use, and it has been decided to use the American format of standings for USA and Canadian soccer, and why I have undone or changed your edits a few times there. I'm not trying to be a jerk, make it personal, or start an edit war, I'm just explaining that there is a method to what we do on the USL pages. This is one of the reasons I have asked for discussions on the talk page before doing any drastic changes, so that there can be input from all sides invested before anything is done that may need to be changed back for the sake of consistency. Again, I'm not trying to be mean and insulting, and I apologize if that comes across like that, but please talk over any drastic changes beforehand, I'll be more than willing to engage in discussion about the matter. Primera Division

I saw the consistency on the national football team article namings and the football association articles of South America and was wondering if the Primera Division articles would have some consistency as well. Like I mentioned a while back, as of 2010, the league will no longer be known as Copa Mustang because the government is going to make it illegal. Ligas Superiores del Peru

While checking Category:2009 domestic football (soccer) leagues, I stumbled upon an article named Ligas Superiores del Peru 2009. The corresponding main article revealed that these leagues are located on the fifth step (out of seven) of the Peruvian football league system.

The main article tends towards a "keep" for me as this step might just be notable enough to warrant an article. However, I don't really know what to do about the season article (PROD or not?). Vélez Squad for Copa Sudamericana 2009

Hi, even-though I don't mind the removal, I would like to point out that this separate squad section has been used before in two other articles, one of them was the Boca Juniors article and the other one was River Plate article, the separate squads were for the 2009 Copa Libertadores. In this two cases the other squad section was useful specially for River, since the players were not the same as the ones that played in the Argentine league, but I see that in the case of Vélez it was useless, since it was the same players and the same numbers. I just wanted to ask if there is any progress on renaming the Latin American Leagues, because there are still some articles to be moved in Category:2009 domestic football (soccer) leagues and, since today, Category:2010 domestic football (soccer) leagues. Can those moves be executed now or should I still wait?

Carlos Espínola

The Sporting Nationality is Paraguayan. The Ecuadorian Nationality is only for internal purposes (as you explained, in Ecuador are permitted only 4 foreigners in each team). This is the case in Europe, in many leagues (Italy, Spain etc.), so Southamerican Players acquires some EU nationality, for not being considered foreigners. But their sporting Nationality remains that of the country they played for. So, even if for the Ecuadorian FA Espínola is Ecuadorian, his sporting nationality is Paraguayan. Either one of those (removing the bolding or slightly widening the column) would be okay by me. I actually like that now it's the normal width for the rest of the footy articles, so maybe unbolding the names would be best. Either way, I'll work with you on trying to standardize this format backwards. I'm even interested in trying to rework the 1996-2006 season articles so that they are standardized as well. Unfortunately, I did break the 3RR. No denying that. It started as an intent to keep the integrity of a featured list that has a format widely used in other featured lists of a related nature. Re: Inquiry on the LPF

Hello, This is actually a complex situation which is also closely tied with the lower division. The 2009 Apertura I and II are part of the same season where originally the "Apertura II" tournament would've been the Clausura, however, among the new changes made to the league was that it would parallel the European league systems. In other words, instead of the clausura tournament ending in December (which marked the end of an LPF yearly-season), it was moved to July so it ended right about the same time European league's did. So the 2009 season of the LPF started with the Apertura I and finished with the Apertura II. However, this also brings another problem for the Apertura-Clausura format used in the project for the next 3 seasons due to relegation and promotion in the LPF.

It was decided that the Liga Nacional de Ascenso 2010-11 season would be canceled for 5 months and re-start on May 22 2010 and end sometime May 2011. What this means to the LPF is that the aggregate table of the 2010 Clausura and Apertura, and 2011 Clausura seasons are going to be determining who gets demoted. In order words, the 2010 Clausura article is going to have to be merged with the 2010 Apertura and 2011 Clausura article as well because it is, essentially, part of the 2010-11 LPF season. After these seasons are over than the Apertura and Clausura format that is currently used in other leagues will fit perfectly.

Let me attempt to explain myself a bit better. Reverting on that template happened for one of two reasons: 1) a disagreement over a point of contention (specifically, the title "South American football" or "Football in South America"); or 2) reverts of removal of unrelated good faith edits caught in another user's blanket reverts (hopefully that didn't seem confusing). I know you think any reverting my seem wrong, but its reverting based on reason #1 (over a specific issue) is when things get ugly and it should be prevented since it is disruptive. Spaces in scorelines

Hi man, I can understand why we should not have spaces within football scores in regular prose, but in the {{footballbox}} template, it looks far better with the spaces. Appearances in CL top goalscorers

I'm planning on restoring the "Appearances" column in the top scorers table of the current Champions League page once the table is otherwise updated from today's matches. I can see how you might think it wouldn't be very helpful right now, but especially as the competition continues, it gives some interesting insight into scoring frequency. Minutes played only gives part of the story. Moreover, previous Champions League season pages have included this column. Primera Argentina

Hey, I was reading the Spanish versions of the Primera Division of Argentina for the last few seasons and I was surprised to see that the qualification methods is by an aggregate table and not points-per-match aggregate table. I checked the regulations for the 2010/11 season and it supports the Spanish version. So on a side note, a newly promoted team would not be able to qualify for Copa Libertadores by the end of this year (2010) because they will have only played 19 games whilst the rest will have played 38. When I said first stage I was refering to first stage for the Brazilian clubs. Second, I don't know if you have watched the past editions of Copa Sudamericana, but as I said, in the second stage (first for the Brazilian clubs), since 2007 edition, Brazilian teams play against another brazilian team. Brazil 1 against Brazil 8, Brazil 2 against Brazil 7, Brazil 3 against Brazil 6, Brazil 4 against Brazil 5. In this case, according to the last season Brazilian Série A table Brazil 1 is Atlético Paranaense, and will play against Brazil 8, which is Flamengo. Xguilex (talk) 03:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Understood the reasons for portuguese name removal, I must say that if you look at the Conmebol wikipage will find the name of the institution in both languages. It has nothing to do with the fact of anglo-speakers recognize one of the languages in common usage; it's, certainly, about giving information like Conmebol is a bilingual institution because of one of its members. Now, I don't see any problem about keeping both names like general information for non-portuguese neither spanish speakers. You take the "public opinion" side of the issue to determinate your position, I give reasonable illustrated arguments (like half of the Copa/Taça Libertadores audience in the region is brazilian); and important community that must be represented in these kind of info sources.

About Atlético Nacional add, you didn't say what's the mistake. I write about andean south american countries, which is an existing article in Wikipedia. Again, I give reasons with sources, you provide opinions.

It's not less important to mention the fact of Atlético Nacional being from the Pacific or an Andean country. It's important because the name of the section (above) is "Pacific emergence" (didn't you see it?). Entitled like this (wasn't me who did it) needs an important fact to remark that "different" thing that happened. So, it's actually as important saying that is a colombian time as saying that Colombia isn't a South Cone country (you might thing it's irrelevant, but maybe saying "Pacific countries" or andean doesn't have any meaning to people in other continents who really don't know the South American inside differences).

Maybe this time you understand what I mean.

Hey Digirami, thanks for adressing this issue to me. Perhaps it is inaccurate to call the 2010 Puerto Rico Soccer League season an official PRSL season, but I would say it was, more or less, the official season because it named the qualifiers from Puerto Rico for the 2011 CFU Club Championship competition. The 2010 season was supposed to be a much larger competition, but apparently was called off due to financial difficulties. Also, at this time, I cannot find any official information about the 2011 PRSL season. But considering that 4 Puerto Rican clubs are playing in US-based leagues this season, it would not surprise me if the PRSL decides to hold a short tournament, similar to last year's, that would name the country's CFU Club Championship participants late in the year, but that is just speculation on my part. --Rougue1987 (talk) 23:55, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello there! Please don't take this personally and I don't want to start an edit war, but we have to revert your team name shortenings in this article. İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor (football team) is always referred to as İstanbul B.B. or Büyükşehir Belediyespor in Turkey, not just Istanbul because there is also an İstanbulspor A.Ş. club which in fact is called İstanbul in short. Also Beşiktaş is a town, and the name of the club is Beşiktaş J.K. Thanks for the logo image size corrections and editing out the flags though. Hey. You told me a while ago (during Sudamericana 2010) that since aggregate scores are not taken into consideration, then the articles should be using bracket templates with only the results of the two legs like in their Spanish counterparts and no aggregate scoring showing. I think this would be the most appropriate template: Template:Round16-2legs. I put it up for deletion (since it isn't being used) but afterwards I remembered what you said and if this should be the CSF cup template, then we don't have to delete it. There is no promotion for a company and the data is unbiased, factual even. The external link to any organization is acceptable under Wikipedia standards. Your reason for deletion is not valid. No extra information is conveyed by adding "Round" before each La Liga match. In fact, I see it as excessive since only using the match number provides just as much information. More importantly, there exists no official name for each fixture, so you can freely call it "Round" or "Match" or "Week" or "Fixture" or other things; the use of an arbitrary title is not appropriate. Player names

Hi, just fyi, the documentations for the templates fb si player, fb in2 player, and fb out2 player all use the players' name on their jersey as the display. Perhaps that is something that needs to be changed. Bobby (talk) 21:00, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Transfers in/out

I have restored the original organizational structure on the Real Madrid season page because "Transfers in" and "Transfers out" may be ambiguous headings, as the sections also include loans and a possible player retirement, not just transfers. Bobby (talk) 16:07, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

"Transfers" is an ambiguous word here that probably cannot be replaced with another word. Keeping them as subsections lessens the association of ambiguity. Bobby (talk) 16:21, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

The ambiguity I'm referring to is the reference to either a player swapping clubs or the type of transfer. Notice how there is a specific column in the template for that distinction. Are you sure? The documentation for Template:Infobox football biography shows both totalcaps and totalgoals in the example template "For current players". Hope Solo, to use another goalkeeper example, includes totalcaps. Powers ^T 11:30, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi, why did you undo my edit on the page (I put in a little anotation that would indicate clubs coming from the Greater Buenos Aires region). I though it would be a coherent thing to do since the map on the side shows "Buenos Aires" as a whole and therefore people who might not know where the suburbian cities of Buenos Aires are could get a better idea of the geography the ligue has Igiarmpr (talk) 18:22, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
