Greetings! You have been randomly selected to receive an invitation to participate in the request for comment on Talk:Pacific Solution. — Legobot (talk) 00:03, 3 January 2014 (UTC) The RFC was not stated properly in that Talk:: page, the RFC template was posted to the top of the page yet there was not a description of the specifics of the discussion's contention(s) which often results in people not commenting. I added a request for one of the editors to fill out the RFC according to policy a little better. Damotclese (talk) 17:47, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Greetings! You have been randomly selected to receive an invitation to participate in the request for comment on Talk:Progressive tax. — Legobot (talk) 00:02, 7 January 2014 (UTC) I commented onthis RFC since what we're looking at here is whether a text blocks hould be included or not, and checking the text it looks like the text is not academic, not encyclopedic and -- if the citations are legitimate at all -- are obscure and holds minute weight. I recommended that the text be omitted as did most RFC comments. Damotclese (talk) 17:53, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Greetings! You have been randomly selected to receive an invitation to participate in the request for comment on Talk:Single-payer health care. — Legobot (talk) 00:01, 21 January 2014 (UTC) I commented on this in the Talk:: page. The issue was whether a list of external links should be included, asking which if any should be included in the article. Checking them the are all suitable for inclusion so I noted as such. Also the RFC lacked clarity about what the issue(s) of debate was however I expect that Republican opposition to a black man being President of the United States may have motivated the RFC more than the desire to ensure suitability of external links. Greetings! There was proposed textual resolution to the issue that the editors were asking about, and the proposed text sounded good, it was definitive and descriptive. When talking about right-wing corporations like Yelp, avoiding rhetoric -- and avoiding advertising/promotion-sounding text -- I think deserves extra effort to work things neutrally. Greetings! When an editor reverses another edtor's contributions without comment it is usually due to the reversing editor's ideological motivations, not due to a legitimate problem with the proposed text. Checking the text that kept getting reversed without comment I don't find anything monstrably wrong with the proposed text, the editor making the reverts, I suggested, needs to refrain. MMR vaccine controversy edit

Interesting issue with the MMR vaccine controversy page which is subject to heavy ideology-based edits. Wikipedia attempts to be encyclopedic and provide testable, falsifiable, scientific information in the arena of scientific issues and I'm happy to see a number of volunteer editors working to eliminate ideology-based, biased text suggestions in such pages. It shows that people care enough about Wikipedia quality to revert inappropriate changes and to suggest Wiki guidelines for the disruptive WP:SAP to follow.

Thanks to everyone working on the MMR vaccine controversy page to keep it accurate. Damotclese (talk) 16:22, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Have you tried User:ProveIt GT? You might find it helpful, especially for articles with a tone of refs, like Narconon. I think it's enabled in the preferences tab. Also, I like to add 'accessdate' as a field to help offset linkrot, especially for Narconon's own sites, since it seems likely to me that those sites might not always be around. Cheers. avg wage page edit

I need your help. On the avg wage page, they are insisting on using numbers from a BBC article which quotes figures from ILO. Here are some facts and issues. The BBC article is a few years old, and the ILO data no longer exists on the ILO website, raising a presumption that it has been deleted and retracted. In addition, for most countries listed, we already have TWO other sources which actually match eachother quote nicely, just that one is monthly and the other annual. The ILO data for some countries directly contradicts the two other sources, and in fact when I did a simple calculation on the talk page using the same meth of the ILO, the figures were radically different, but similar to the other two sources. This lends further credence as to why ILO deleted the figures. What is the policy for a page quoting numbers which has later been deleted by that source, and for which there is redundancy in that list to begin with? I have proposed not using the ILO list due to these issues, or perhaps using it for countries not mentioned in other two lists. What do you think? Lneal001 (talk) 16:07, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. So what do I do? It is clear that I think one source should not be used for the reasons mentioned above.Lneal001 (talk) 02:10, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Narconon Arrowhead closure edit

I don't want to get involved in the Narconon article (and well, I can't), but there seems to be some time-wasting confusion on the Talk page about what was closed that I might be able to help with.

The same-old Narconon Arrowhead drug rehab, with the same CARF certification as they've always had since the Chilocco days, remains open. Since the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (page 2) gave up about the same time as the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services fired their two investigators, I doubt that'll change soon.

They had also opened a Narconon Arrowhead medical detox at a separate location in McAlester, and were operating with a temporary permit. A medical detox uses drugs to ramp people down off their addiction where going cold turkey would be medically dangerous. After that they go to the drug rehab. The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services declined to issue them a full certification, their temporary permit expired, and it was closed.

  • Russell, Doug (2006-08-28). "Narconon set to open detox center". McAlester News-Capital. Retrieved 2013-10-21.

Georgism edit

There is an RfC at Talk:Georgism concerning scope of the article. This is a neutral notification. Collect (talk) 15:40, 30 May 2014 (UTC) I did a comment on this one. The question is whether the article should state something when really the RFC should be asking if there are supporting citations and references for the proposed edit. Hello,

You can help determine consensus by commenting at the RfC at Talk:Ta-Nehisi Coates#RfC:_Discipline_issues_in_high_school. Your input would be appreciated. Thank you. Useitorloseit (talk) 20:15, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Well, there was already concensus, this editor is simply refusing to accept that concensus. I recommended banning. Damotclese (talk) 22:35, 5 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

L.A. events on June 21 and July 6 edit

Upcoming L.A. events: Unforgetting L.A. edit-a-thon (Saturday, June 21, 12-5pm) and Wiknic (Sunday, July 6, ~9:30am-4pm)

Gallery at 356 S. Mission Rd.
Get hungry for the Wiknic!

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

The L.A. Wikipedia community has two exciting events coming up in the next few weeks: an edit-a-thon sponsored by the online magazine East of Borneo, and the fourth annual Los Angeles Wiknic!

The East of Borneo event is an edit-a-thon that aims to build a better history of art in Southern California. This next chapter of their Unforgetting L.A. series will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 12pm to 5pm at 356 S. Mission Rd. (map). Beginners welcome! Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. For more info, see eastofborneo.org/unforgetting.

The Wiknic is a part of the nationwide Great American Wiknic. We'll be grilling, getting to know each other better, and building the L.A. Wikipedia community! The event is tentatively planned for Pan-Pacific Park (map) and will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 9:30am to 4pm or so. Please RSVP and volunteer to bring food or drinks if possible!

I hope to see you there! Calliopejen1 (talk) - via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:59, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
