Statement of Association

So that it is clear, I (Kern Sibbald) am the principal author of the Bacula project (with help from many other contributors) thus I have an interest to ensure that the Bacula page is accurate and does not contain material that is inappropriate for Bacula (competitor advertising, denigration of the Bacula project or its members). From what I can see, the Bacula page was started in 2006 (not by me) and has evolved over time, with changes from many people, including myself. Though there have been a few edits that were either not clear or not accurate, these were easily changed and no dispute ever ensued. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KernSibbald (talkcontribs) 06:23, 22 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

BackupPC uses checksums

edit

The following statement may not be true for BackupPC, if rsync and --ignore-times are used... By default, and as is case for all other Open Source backup software, Bacula's Differential and Incremental backups are based on system time stamps. Meonkeys (talk) 09:35, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Spelling

edit

The contentious paragraph has, about halfway through, the possessive pronoun "Its" mis-spelled as "It's". As I have no admin rights, I am unable to correct it myself; so I hope some admin will. Maproom (talk) 19:32, 13 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Also, a few words earlier, "name" is unnecessarily capitalised. Maproom (talk) 19:34, 13 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

RFC regarding Revision as of 15:52, 14 July 2013 by Jeremy Butler

edit

The above editing removed information that is pertinent and factual, not "puffery" as the editor claimed. More importantly the changes removed the reference that Bacula is a registered trademark of Kern Sibbald.

Please revert at a minimum the trademark removal and preferrably all his changes. KernSibbald (talk) 13:36, 19 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Suggestions in email

edit

Thank you (User:Mdann52) for posting the email on the Bacula talk page. This above email has suggestions about the recent controversy between myself and User:Gul.Maikat. I agree with all points in that email and now that the page is no longer locked, Iwould like to implement them. I would prefer it if you would modify the disputed Bareos paragraph to avoid a new conflict with User:Gul.Maikat.

For the edits I am suggesting to make, I propose to change the comment about 3rd party contributions to the Bacula project to say that: "Any third party contributions will either not be accepted or will go into the Bacula community version. Only, if the contributor has given authorization by signing a Fiduciary License Agreement may the contribution also be included in the Enterprise version." I believe that all the suggestions including my modification, other than for the Bareos paragraph, are non-contraversial and thus they should not be disputed.

Summary: 1. With your agreement, I would like to make the changes suggested to the Bacula page including my clarification given above. 2. I request you to make the suggested change to the disputed Bareos paragraph. KernSibbald (talk) 13:02, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Since I had a few other changes, and they seem non-contraversial, I have gone ahead and made the changes noted in point #1 above. KernSibbald (talk) 15:25, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Implementing last suggestion in email

edit

There being no more comments, I am implementing the one sent in by email, which corresponds the best to all the comments that have been made. KernSibbald (talk) 16:10, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
