Help edit

I'd like to nominate New Zealand women's national cricket team record by opponent to FLC which I created along the lines of this and this. I'm guessing it does not have enough citations to be an FL right now. Can you be kind enough to take a look at the article and comment on it (specifically the prose) when you're free? Thanks.--$ufyan (talk) 06:33, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@$ufyan: - there's a couple of uncited sentences (eg the last one) but overall I don't think there's an issue with the sourcing. As long as everything in an article is sourced, the number of citations isn't an issue - there's no minimum number of citations needed in an article. The only things I would pick up on based on a quick read are:
  • "most number of wins" should be "highest number of wins" (you can't say "most number" of something)
  • Remove the space between the punctuation and the ref at the end of that same sentence
  • In some cases you have two refs together and they are not in numerical order
  • Because the "opponent" column sorts based on the flag, "Young England" doesn't sort correctly
That's all I found, and I think this would stand a great chance at FLC! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:26, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much, I'm working on the issues and will be nominating it soon :) --$ufyan (talk) 07:48, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Peer review edit

Hi Chris, would you have time this month to peer review another football article? After starting List of international goals scored by Manon Melis, I began working on her main article, which is now a GA. I hope to bring it to FAC but am not sure if it is ready. Would you mind doing your usual magic on this Peer Review page? No worries if too busy. Thanks, Edwininlondon (talk) 09:24, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Edwininlondon: - sure thing, I will take a look in the week -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:45, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi Chris, the article about Manon Melis which you peer reviewed is now at FAC. It has not attracted any reviews yet, sadly. It has not changed much since you reviewed it. If you happen to have some spare time, I would very much appreciate it if you could have a quick look and let the coordinators know your view. Here's the link: FAC review. Thanks! Regarding a list edit

Hi @ChrisTheDude: I recently created a list "List of marches composed by John Philip Sousa" from a re-direct page. I plan to nominate it for FL, but would appreciate if you can give your comments on it. I have few general questions:

  • Does the "Notes" column looks fine/compiles with criteria, as it has text in <small> tag. I added small tag as without it, the list would be unnecessarily long.
  • Is the formatting of audio files in list fine?

Would appreciate your comments on the list and these queries before nominating for FL. Thanks! Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 12:21, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Kavyansh.Singh: - small text really should be avoided. WRT the audio files, they look OK to me, but you shouldn't merge the notes across both columns where there's no audio file - just leave the cell in the audio column blank. A couple of other points: in the title column, anything starting with the words "A" or "The" should sort based on the next word. And not sure what value there is in making the audio column sortable - it seems to put them into a really random which I can't figure out. Other than that, looks great! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 19:07, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@ChrisTheDude: Done: all the changes you suggested are made. I removed small text tags, un-merged some cells, Added "data-sort-value" in cells starting with the words "A" or "The", and made the Audio column unsortable. Appreciate any other feedback. Also, when do you suggest should it be nominated for FL? i.e. do you believe that it has reasonable chances of meeting the FL criteria? Thanks for your help! United States presidential elections in Arkansas edit

Hi @ChrisTheDude: Recently, I made some changes to the article "United States presidential elections in Arkansas". I plan to nominate it for FL but wanted to confirm whether it stands with the criteria or needs some more issues to be resolved. Just from a quick read, can you tell some problems with the list? FAC co-nom edit

Hey, do you fancy co-nominating 1999 Football League Second Division play-off Final at FAC? If you have time/inclination, let me know and I'm all in. Cheers. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 09:53, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @The Rambling Man: - sounds like a great idea which I would be well up for, however I am off on holiday on Friday. If you are happy to hang on till I get back on 2nd August, I'll be equally all in on responding to FAC comments, etc. But if you would rather do a solo nom before then, go for it! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:09, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Given how long these things can take, I'd be happy nominate it now and cover off the easy stuff until you return? If you'd rather I waited, fine too. The Rambling Man (Stay alert! Control the virus! Save lives!!!!) 00:02, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Go for it - I'll pick up anything that comes in until I go away (although as FACs sometimes seem to take a long time to get started, this may be nothing :-)) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:19, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The Rambling Man: - BTW, I will also have 1995–96 Gillingham F.C. season ready to go pretty soon. The season when you were lucky if you saw as many as two goals scored (by both teams combined) every time you went to Priestfield. Didn't exactly dazzle 'em with skilll on the way to promotion :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:06, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

1999 done, well played! So, how about 1987 Football League Third Division play-off Final for FAC co-nom now? I'll understand if you want a break from (me/all this)... The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 22:25, 7 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@The Rambling Man: - sure, why not? I have had one waiting for several weeks to nom as soon as this one closes (which will hopefully be today) but I can have a solo nom and a co-nom simultaneously, right....? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:52, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hey Chris, can we delay by a couple of weeks? I've been working a bit on the Euro 2008 final with Amakuru who would like to co-nom immediately (for WikiCup points as much as anything else), but hopefully (and especially if you'd throw in a review there!) you and I could look to co-nom the play-off final in a couple of weeks (normally three supports + image review + source review + 2 weeks elapsed time == add another nom). Is that ok? The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 10:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Some guidance requested edit

Hi Chris,
I know you're incredibly busy with the number of projects and candidacies you have here on Wikipedia so I feel a little bad for coming to you for some assistance. But I kindly ask for some guidance, if you may, as I really value your expertise. My request is regarding the first list I have written, which documents the awards and nominations received by an actor. Of course, the goal is to eventually promote it to a featured list, but if it doesn't make it to that level, I'll be glad to have improved it nonetheless. I've taken some inspiration from the featured lists in this category that are already promoted, but I still feel skeptical about my article's flow, if the content is not specific enough, and some technical questions about the notes I have included. Please let me know if you're able to discuss whenever you're free. Thank you so much for your kind assistance! Tunestoons (talk) 03:50, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Tunestoons: - which article is it, please? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:41, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@ChrisTheDude: - Hi Chris, thank you so much for the quick response. I really appreciate it. You can access my list here as I've not yet posted my changes on the actual article yet for fear of my work not being adequate enough. Thanks again for the help. Tunestoons (talk) 18:34, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@ChrisTheDude: - Hello again, I'm revisiting my request as you hadn't responded or made any changes, but I did want to ask if you had some time to spare for any assistance again. I value your experience crafting featured lists so I would love to have a look before I really put the changes out there. I'm linking my list here, in my sandbox. Thanks again. Tunestoons (talk) 00:22, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Tunestoons: - humblest apologies for forgetting to get back to you. I think the list looks great and it's definitely ready for a run at FLC - I'm struggling to spot any real issues at all! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:37, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@ChrisTheDude: - Hi Chris, thank you so much for getting back to me and taking a look at the page. I really appreciate your time. I do have a few questions now that you've taken a look at it and I'd be happy to get a hear a few thoughts from you about them.
* I'm a bit weary of how extensive my "notes" section is, and I know I cannot really help that because each year's nomination for an ensemble-related award tends to have a long group of nominated individuals, but I'm afraid some might say it's still too much. I'm not sure if there's anything that should be done there, but I did want to preempt any possible comments.
* Additionally, for the notes, I linked all individuals that have a page, but I know that the same individual is linked every time they're mentioned, so I'm not sure if I should or shouldn't keep that, as there are those who advise against double-linking. Also, should I list them in alphabetical order by last name? I took the names as listed on the sources by their positions ("executive producer" vs "producer").
* I've re-read my lead many times but do you find that it's comprehensive or objective enough to someone else who is unfamiliar with Odenkirk? I do not consider myself a huge aficionado or expert on Odenkirk or his body of work, but I tried my best to convey a bit of his work.
* Also, if and when I submit my list for FLC, would you be OK with me mentioning you as one of my proofreaders? I very much appreciate your assistance.Tunestoons (talk) 09:58, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Tunestoons: - I personally don't have an issue with the notes section - as you say, all the information is accurate, and I don't know how else you would represent it - "shared with a lot of other people" wouldn't really work :-) In terms of the linking, you've correctly linked everything in the table each time it appears because it's sortable, but I guess the notes aren't sortable, so maybe the "re-linking" each time isn't required? The lead looks great to me, and yes I am more than happy for you to comment that I looked over the list :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:19, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Play off articles in history section of Gills edit

I don't want to interfere too much in your working through the GFC article (Great job), but it seems odd not to link the match articles of the 4 play off finals we have suffered/revelled in in the history section. I know some the Man City and Wigan games are in the manager section, but given that all four are mentioned in the history, I'm wondering why those mentions would not be linked? Another two FACs.... edit

Hi Chris

I hope you're well, and apologies if I'm asking too much at this point, but I have two more FACs that I'd appreciate your input on if you have time, at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/2014 FIFA World Cup Final/archive1 and Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/UEFA Euro 2020 Final/archive1 (the latter is a joint nomination with TRM). As you probably know, it's the final month of the WP:WikiCup now, so I'm really trying to motor these two through in the hope that they're promoted before the end of October, so that I can garner as many points as possible! Of course, whenever it's convenient and no worries if it's not. If you're doing one, maybe start with the 2014 WC final since that's almost got enough supports to get it over the line now. (The other one is more of a long-shot, as we only opened it today!) And wishing your son a happy birthday for Sunday. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:52, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Missing cite in 1996–97 Gillingham F.C. season edit

The article cites "Brown 2003" but no such source is listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]] to your common.js page. Thanks, Renata3 02:51, 11 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Re: List of FA Cup Finals edit

Ah yes, I did consider that just after I removed it, but I couldn't see any reference to it in a key or legend, so it just seemed like a random line. Not sure what purpose it serves to indicate when the Football League started, so I hope no one will object if I don't add it back in. – PeeJay 14:17, 18 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
