Crash bandicoot sales

According to the VGChartz website all the first 5 orignal crash bandicoot games have sold well over what has been stated on the crash series wiki for example, it states crash warped has sold 3.87 million units however it has sold well over 7.2 million units worldwide can someone update them please, the psn sales have also sold approximetly 1.2 million. if any clarification is needed go on to the VGChartz website and in the info box type in the crash bandicoot games and will give you the correct sales amount —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.240.198 (talk) 14:12, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

VGChartz isn't considered a reliable source for Wikipedia because its information is unfounded and thus invalid. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 18:27, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

The source that is used currently for the crash bandicoot sales is the magic box, how do you know that is a valid source? that also may be unreliable, that sourced is dated in 2003 the sales have increased vastly since then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.240.197 (talk) 15:45, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Unless a more recent source that's actually reliable comes up, we will continue to use those figures. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 18:25, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Crash Bandicoot: the Wrath of Cortex

Hello On crash bandicoot: wrath of cortex’s, wiki page there is no section on `Development` of the game. There is some very interesting articles stating that Mark Cerny was going to design this game as he had designed all the original games and Sony was going to publish it, but Universal Interactive fell out with them both and travellers tales (the development team) had to go from a free roaming game to a standard Crash game with a reduced time-line - 12 months - and having to design the game themselves from scratch.

It would be very, very helpful if this could be stated on the wiki page with a `Development` section as all the other crash games have this section but this does not, and not many people know this. If any evidence is required go on to Crash Mania on the games section and click on wrath of cortex mysteries as well as "Gamasutra interview with Jon Burton (the head of travellers tales)" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.3.240.208 (talk) 16:50, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Crash Mania can't be proven as a reliable source, but I think Gamasutra is okay, so I'll look into that. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 21:42, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Crash Bash

Hello First I’d like to thank you for what you added to the wrath of cortex it all makes much more sense now.

On the Crash Bash video game wiki page there is not enough information on the successful sales it had achieved. All the other original PS1 Crash games had all the information about the sales. I.e. crash bash sold very well as it achieved 1.6 million in sales. And as a whole the crash bash wiki page looks weak and needs more information, especially the introduction.

It would be very helpful if you could do this

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.221.106.160 (talk) 13:18, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Crash bandicoot music section

On the Crash bandicoot series wiki there is no section with music from the series, it would be very useful to have this included as the crash bandicoot videogame music was very popular.

Can you do this please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.220.101.249 (talk) 15:20, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Crash bandicoot series

Hello

I have started a music section article on the crash bandicoot series wiki page as there wasn't one. The Crash bandicoot video game music was extremely popular and still is, I as well as others were very suprised to find out that this section hadn't been done, anyway i have started it and it would be very helpful if you could help finish it as it is vital to have this included and also you are very good at doing wiki pages as you are a member.

Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.221.106.163 (talk) 17:36, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry things got a bit heated over the merger discussions. If its any consolation, at least most of your writings and improvements are still being implemented, just across 2 articles now, instead of one. Both articles look better, and little to none of your efforts were wasted. Sergecross73 msg me 18:07, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Year in review critically acclaimed games sections

Hello Cat's Tuxedo,

I realize you probably put a fair amount of work into these, but I don't think your changes to the Year in Video Gaming lists was actually an improvement (e.g. 2016 in video gaming , 2017 in video gaming ). Most notably, you don't appear to have used any "sanity" threshold on these lists for number of reviews. It's comparatively easy to get a high score off just 4 reviews on obscure sites or the like, but it's misleading to consider that equivalent to more heavily reviewed games reviewed by all the big players. This is a smaller issue, but I also don't see the advantage in including GameRankings. See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games/Archive_119#GameRankings_discussion for one old discussion on the topic. If nothing else, including GR has bloated the length of these lists more than I think is merited - a stylistic preference to be sure, but going more than 25 or so games starts getting a little too long. Basically, I'd rather we go back to one source (MetaCritic) and enforce a threshold of at least 10 reviews to make the resulting list, with mentioning in prose at the end of the table highly scoring games with only a few reviews (both gives them credit, but recognizes they are potentially niche and maybe less reviewed for a reason). SnowFire (talk) 20:35, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Fair enough. I really only included GameRankings to begin with because in the earlier years, MetaCritic would omit some significant titles for some reason or another (first two Spyros come to mind), and I needed something to balance that out. Goes without saying that I never bothered to set a cut-off year for the GR stuff. Things definitely started getting wonky around when downloadable titles started becoming a thing since what would appear on one aggregate list at a certain threshold wouldn't be on the other, so I wind up having to increase the range just to make sure both aggregates were adequately represented. Anyway, I understand that "hard work" doesn't always equal merit, so I've got no objections to your proposal. Though to make a suggestion, I would say 2002 would be the ideal year to stop including GR since that looks to be the year MC stopped omitting any of the big stuff. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 23:17, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
I'd be fine with GameRankings being used even past 2002 (maybe 2010?), just the really recent stuff it's basically just a worse and less accurate copy. I'll give a look into this. (If I was in charge, it'd be a simple bulleted list of solely game names and platforms as well, but whenever I've added that, someone invariable decides to "help out" and make it a proper table with lots of random extra columns and the like. Oh well. I'm a bit of the less-is-more opinion on the topic.) SnowFire (talk) 23:28, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
In that case, I'd say 2009's good too; '08 was the last year the sixth gen had any notable critical impact, and '09 does seem to be where the smaller stuff started cluttering things. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 02:31, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Sierra

I read through both sources, and they are dated to 2006, which was when Vivendi Universal Games ceased publishing under their own name. That's why all those games are listed as Sierra even if they weren't originally branded as such. Like sure enough in Europe they were branded as Sierra, but in the US and Japan, they are branded as Vivendi Universal, so please, just take my reasoning right.

Also, why do you have to abbreviate Vivendi Universal on the Crash Twinsanity page? It makes the page look unprofessional. Luigitehplumber (talk) 15:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

The same source identifies Sierra as a brand belonging to Vivendi, so your point is moot. Unless there are equally reliable sources citing differing publication status in other regions, you're better off leaving the matter alone. Also, abbreviation is standard procedure in certain cases and lends to a more concise read; establishing an abbreviation in an article, for example EA for Electronic Arts, ensures that you don't have to use the full name for every instance in the article. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 16:30, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
Okay, but with EA, their logo uses the abbreviation, while Vivendi Universal didn't, just casually saying. Luigitehplumber (talk) 20:41, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
The VU Games abbreviation has been used by several sources, so it's equally valid here. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 20:52, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
If you say so, that's fine. I'll have to remember that I ever edit on the page again. Good Luck at attempting to make the page a featured article. Luigitehplumber (talk) 21:44, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

Health

Hey. I was going to review your GAN for Health (game terminology) but I'm hesitant because most sources are offline and I have no access to them. If I was to review the article, would you be able to provide relevant pages, e.g. as scans via email, for review? Regards, IceWelder [] 22:48, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I don't actually own any of the literary sources cited in the article. I translated the vast bulk of the article from the Russian version, which had their equivalent of Good Article status, so I simply used the same citations for the corresponding statements. However, if I needed a more satisfactory reference for any particular statement, I could certainly try to find a suitable online addition/substitute. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 04:57, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
That's a bummer. ruwiki by itself is not reliable (with or without GA status), so we probably cannot blindly rely on that. Could you check whether the pages are available on Google Books or similar services? IceWelder [] 08:40, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
Hardly any of the relevant pages are available in previews from what I can find, sorry to say. At this point, I'm thinking I'm better off just withdrawing my nomination. Can't see a point in forging onward when I'm unable to vouch for those sources. It's what I get for pushing my luck, I guess. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 18:05, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
I probably won't be able to take the review under these circumstances, sorry. I wish you luck with whatever you have planned for the article. IceWelder [] 08:55, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Crash Twinsanity), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. DDLC "fads and trends" thing

Hey! Just wanted to clarify that I have absolutely no problems with DDLC. In fact, I liked the game back when it was popular and still do today. I just thought it qualified as a fad, but I guess not after all.

Remember Baldi's Basics? That was more of a fad than DDLC, imo. It was popular in June 2018 but then kinda died, VERY similar to Fall Guys this August. DDLC didn't really "die", it still has a highly active subreddit and fanbase. It's just not a "trending game" anymore, but trending games aren't the same as fads.

If DDLC is considered a fad just because it got popular, then by that logic Cuphead should also be considered a fad. See the problem in that logic? I do now so I'm sorry for potentially causing edit conflict on the DDLC article. On the Undertale page, I added reliable sources, but could find no such sources for DDLC. So I won't add the category to the page from here on out. --ThisIsSparta2007 (talk) 19:03, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Would you be okay with a compromise instead of a Morshu article?

Hello, I know you weren't happy when I created a page for Morshu, however I did it not to joke around, but because he has been one of the most longstanding memes on the internet dating back to when I was in elementary school. Would you be okay with a potential compromise instead? If so what kind of compromise would you be ok with?

There's nothing left to discuss. Only subjects with real-world notability get articles, and nothing you could offer changes the fact that this subject has none. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 00:24, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Something about Bob Camp

Recently, I talked with Bob Camp on his Facebook post - https://facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10225941420785679&id=1339389430&anchor_composer=false and the real reason why he calls himself as the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy, is because he sees some people and verificable proof that don't consider him as the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy as lies and misinformation and he defended himself with his work in the original series as a defense, but because that these verificable proof shows the true side of the creation of Ren and Stimpy (like Bill Wray's 1993 interview), I think we should urgently protect not only Bob Camp's page, as well The Ren & Stimpy Show page here to avoid another fan of Camp add unsourced information he being the "co-creator" of Ren and Stimpy in these pages, like happened with the show's page, when a fan of Bob Camp added a unverifiable source which was an interview with him on YouTube, which was reverted MariaSantanaSilva (talk) 18:52, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Notice that Camp sees some people and verificable proof that don't consider him as the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy since the show's beginning, just clarifying here about it MariaSantanaSilva (talk) 20:24, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Two things that oppose each other

How do you like cats but do not own one? I mean, those are your two first userboxes, and the fact that they're so close together yet so contrary in their meanings bothers me :/ Other than that, I agree with all of your userboxes, but please use Twitter... carefully. It's a weird place, at the very least.

And great work on the most underrated Crash game.

But mostly, the point of this section is to warn you about EATEOT. It seems like you're interested but it can get really depressing at times. I'm not gatekeeping or anything, this album has proven to really mess up some people, especially those that had close experiences with dementia. I recommend listening to An Empty Bliss Beyond This World first as sort of a tech demo, whereas EATEOT is the full game. Wetrorave (talk) 13:20, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

@Wetrorave: I did have a cat for quite some time, but he was put down after a good couple-days-short-of 15 years, and I feel like that was enough. My father and brother do have their own cats, so fortunately I'm still around them, but I'm just personally done with pets.
Thanks for reminding me to update my userboxes, seeing how I finally got the boot from Twitter just last month. It was really a matter of time, but can't say there's any sadness there; what I will say is that it takes a pretty sick soul to look at the sentence "Mental illness should not be normalized" and deem it hateful.
Another thanks for that, too. Crash is certainly one of my specialties, and Crash 4 gets the credit for reigniting my spark for it whilst getting back in the GA groove after my time away in another ill-fated online venture.
Already three hours in, and you shouldn't worry that much. I have no personal experience with such a matter, and as someone with a few Inhale tracks in his library, I'm no stranger to dark ambience.
One last thanks for stopping by. Can't say anyone here has ever just sat down and had a chat like this. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 17:02, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Oh ok, I didn't realize you were already familiar with dark ambient (though even for those, the series can still be a bit too much). And thank you for not using Twitter anymore, it's good for one's mental health :)
I would actually deem myself not that good in regards to talking with people and stuff, so it's surprising that I'm apparently bold at it. Haven't got to play Crash 4 yet but it certainly seems great; unfortunately consoles are ridiculously expensive where I live (no, you are not going there, everything is ok) and my PC's got an integrated GPU (though it's an AMD one). ~ Wetrorave (talk) 18:06, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Collaboration / Help with Toys for Bob

Hi! I've been trying to figure out who in the Video Game WikiProject might be able to help. I thought you might have the expertise, and hope you might have the time, too. I managed to get Toys for Bob to GA about a year ago, and I'm hoping to get it to FA by the end of the year. I don't want to just get away with throwing the current GA into the FA process, because I think there are probably some gaps that could be filled in their Activision era: specifically any key staff who deserve to be highlighted, and their work on Skylanders, Crash, and Spyro. I saw you had done some high quality editing around these topics, and wanted to see if you felt like collaborating on an FA, or even just helping me dig up some sources I haven't found yet. Would be happy to return the favor on another collaboration that you care about. Shooterwalker (talk) 18:08, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

@Shooterwalker: I've never really worked on articles for developers before, so I'm not all that confident in my abilities in that area. However, skimming over the page, there's definitely some links that need archiving and publisher credits if you're gunning for FA, and I could certainly pitch in on that front whenever I can find the time. Also, I did get Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time up to GA recently, so you could take a look there and see if there might be some extra sources to use. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 18:39, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
The Crash article is exactly what led me to reach out. You're right that I could double check some of the references at that article, and I may start there. Any additional help is definitely appreciated and thanks for the quick reply. Shooterwalker (talk) 19:20, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
