DYK for Mahmoud Dicko

On 6 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Mahmoud Dicko, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that imam Mahmoud Dicko, one of the most influential political figures in Mali today, announced that he was leaving politics despite never having run for office? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Mahmoud Dicko. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Mahmoud Dicko), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

User talk: List of Central African Republic prefectures by Human Development Index

@Calliopejen1: Hi Calliopejen1, I fixed both the complaints from you (the RS and naming a section "Departments"). The source that I got the HDI's for the prefectures had a confusing thing called "RS". Can you look at my article again?

Hi Calliopejen1, I'm sure you're doing pretty fine. Could you please review the above draft article. The article is about someone who qualifies for a Wikipedia article. Plaese review my edit

I have corrected the fault you noticed in my recent edit.please review it now. Silverdragon3002 (talk) 06:56, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

A Minor Point

You declined Draft:Tokyo Torch, which was of course necessary because it also existed as an article. In the same situation, after declining the draft, I replace the draft with a redirect to the article. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:29, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

I do that sometimes, based on a combination of whether the draft is stale, whether there is anything worth merging, and whether I'm editing from my phone. ;) thanks for the tip! Calliopejen1 (talk) 03:54, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Unrelated Point

I mostly agree on the Korean articles and will reply, mostly agreeing. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:32, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

@Robert McClenon: Sounds good, thanks. I think this is one of the worst indictments of the AFC process I have seen, in terms of an unreasonable insistence on very high standards that results in G13 deletion and a net negative for the project. The declined articles aren't perfect but almost every one of them is a good start and better than nothing. And collectively the loss of all of them would have been a significant loss for Wikipedia. A few of the declines were possibly justified but the overall result royally sucks. Calliopejen1 (talk) 03:54, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
We mostly agree. We disagree on the details of some of the declines. I think that the real problem is not with AFC. I think that the real problem is with GNG. While it is meant to keep out YouTubers, corner grocery stores, and garage bands, it sometimes makes it difficult to include people or things that are useful inclusions. More later. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:36, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
@Robert McClenon: I think the problem is definitely AFC. Specialized encyclopedias don't usually write articles without existing secondary sources, or at least that's my understanding. The existence of an article in a specialized encyclopedia suggests that a subject would meet WP:GNG if we looked. This comes back to WP:NPOSSIBLE -- just because the sources aren't there doesn't mean they don't exist.... And AFC reviewers, particularly those who lack knowledge of potential sources in a foreign-language subject area, shouldn't be throwing stuff like this in the trash heap. (By the way, I personally speak zero Korean and know nothing about Korean literature, so I'm not suggesting that I know about these things.) Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:40, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Morocco and Panama

Hi, just noticed you deleted those pages. Did you finish them off afterwards? Admittedly I reached a stage where I'm relunctant to create new stubs as so much work needs doing with what we've got but they needed starting all the same. Hope you're well!† Encyclopædius 15:39, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Encyclopædius, to be honest I don't really remember one way or the other! I was just cleaning out stuff I didn't really feel like working on any more. Maybe if there are more to do, I should restore the pages for later.... Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:32, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Remember you made cut and paste articles using excel or something? I think Thine Antique Oen finished off most of the Moroccan ones but I think there was still a few districts to do for Panama.† Encyclopædius 17:08, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for refunding the draft for Princess Titaua Marama of Tahiti. I'm not sure who asked, but I had it on my watchlist and went to have a look. Some work has been done since I last saw it and I think it will survive AfD so I published it. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:06, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

@ThatMontrealIP: Thanks for promoting it! No one asked... every day I go through a report of snippets of G13 deleted drafts and open up the ones that look reasonable. Sometimes I promote them straight away and sometimes I watchlist the restored draft and come back later. I probably undelete between 1 and 5 articles in a given day, though one day recently I noticed a massive AFC fail and probably restored about 40 at once... (see discussion at WT:AFC if you're curious about this) Calliopejen1 (talk) 04:10, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

AfC and Completely unrelated

Hey, hopefully this time round we can get some improvements to AfC - fingers crossed. And yes I had the same realisation this year that AfC accepts from autopatrolled/admin meant it was marked as patrolled. You can just mark as unpatrolled if you want NPP to take a second pass, something Primefac pointed out to me so thought I'd pass it on in case you hadn't realised. Although I just double checked on a recent article I accepted and instead of the "Open page creation" in the left hand menu it shows "Add to the New Pages Feed", i think it depends on what's happened before but one or other should be an option. It's amazing how many years you can be doing this and still keep finding these things to learn. :) Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 21:06, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

@KylieTastic: Thanks! I'm not sure I totally understand but I'll look for these things the next time I accept an article. Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:10, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
@KylieTastic: Okay, I just looked out for this while I was accepting an article and don't see either phrase anywhere (and ctrl-F isn't finding them either). Where should I be going to find these options? Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:39, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • I went to look for examples on accepted drafts and today I either get the "Open Page Curation" in the left hand Tools menu or the Curation toolbar open/closed on the right hand edge. I've seen other questions regards a missing curation toolbar as well, so seams like this is buggy at the moment. The only place I could find the "Add to the New Pages Feed" was on peoples user pages. Just so your clear what I'm talking about... image! Looking at a couple of your recent accepts Disability in Denmark, Disability in France, Basic fault theory I get offered the curation toolbar on all and can see they are all in the accepted state at the moment, by default as nothing in logs to show any patrol/curation. It's definitely been changing functionality recently so hopefully if you don't see any of the options now they will appear again! Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 19:57, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • @KylieTastic: I found it! (I think.) I'm not sure if I had been looking in the right place before or not... Anyways hopefully I'll remember to do this going forward. At best I expect that I'll remember on like half of articles... Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:01, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Yup you found it :) I see you just marked those three as unreviewed. KylieTastic (talk) 20:04, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

AFC

Hi. I read your comments on some talk page (can't remember which) about our existing sorting processes not being able to separate wheat from chaff. I wonder whether filtering out BLPs and companies would sort of achieve that? My idea of an AFC submit wizard would probably achieve that (see WT:WPAFC). Totally unreferenced material is also chaff I guess but that's a bit tricky to handle ... – SD0001 (talk) 07:49, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

@SD00001:. Thanks, this is a good idea. I had previously kicked around some ideas about users self-categorizing incoming drafts. I'll try to figure out where that was and get back to you... I have some more ideas about the choices that could be helpful. Can you do radial buttons in Javascript so users select one of several options? Calliopejen1 (talk) 13:05, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Yep, pretty much anything you see here is possible. – SD0001 (talk) 16:24, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

user:82.40.130.75 is abusing her talkpage. CLCStudent (talk) 00:37, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

La vida breve

Isn't life too short for that move from La vida breve to La vida breve (opera)? The next innocent editor who knew this link for years will land to a disambiguation page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:20, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: If you're thinking it's not WP:PRIMARYTOPIC then I don't feel that strongly. I will note that in Spanish and German, the main title is a disambiguation page. (I give some weight to the views of es.wiki editors given that both are Spanish-language works.) I don't think that longstanding usage is a good reason to leave it there though. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:23, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
Also, in es.wiki, where both articles have been around for a while, more readers go to the novel than to the opera.[1] Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:25, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
And in de.wiki, more readers go to the opera, but not overwhelmingly so.[2] Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:27, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
(ec) I look at it more from a practical point of view, admitted. I'm not surprised that the novel gets more views in Spanish in a Spanish-speaking environment. I doubt that for English, where reading the novel would require much more familiarity with the language than in the opera (where subtitles will normally be supplied in a performance). I remember that someone moved Lohengrin (opera) to Lohengrin (Wagner) because there's also another (forgot the Italian name). Much work, much arguing, then back to as it was before. I may be the only one always irritated when a good simple name gets converted to a dab, naturally without a redirect. Thank you for doing all the link changes, btw.. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:33, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
What I see is that many more links go to the opera than to the novel, and I see all of us writers about opera singers having to remember another where the title isn't enough. You have probably no idea how often I have to correct links others set to Lohengrin but mean the opera. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:38, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I agree that there are more links, but that is a product of the nature of opera-related articles (where every bio lists every opera they've ever sung in etc.). That's not what decides whether it's a primary topic or not. (Visual editor also helps avoid creating links to disambiguation pages, but I assume you're not using that.) Maybe we should wait a few months and see what the article views look like? Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:51, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
I laughed out loud about every opera ever sung ;) - Look at Oskar Czerwenka. - It doesn't matter what editor I use, - I meant others linking just to Lohengrin (and from now on also La vida breve). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:08, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I know, but "most links" still isn't the criterion for determining WP:PRIMARYTOPIC... I still think revisiting in a few weeks'/months' time is the best approach. I honestly have no idea whether the opera is "much more likely" (per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC) to be the article most readers are interested in. It seems conceivable that it is so, given that the language of a novel is more of a barrier to consumption by English speakers than the language of an opera. But on the other hand, the novel has been translated into English, and the de.wiki stats don't show readers being "much more likely" to go to the opera... Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:14, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
Go ahead. I just don't believe in that primary topic philosophy, having watched Engelbert Humperdinck and the singer who usurped his name. The worst case of a good name going to dab I remember. Take care. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:24, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Smooth life's journey as you onward go.

Blest and be blest, is the law of love.

Just wanted to drop you a note recognizing your excellent work this year over at AfC - you've done some wonderful things and sparked some wonderful conversations. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:33, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Ser Amantio di Nicolao, thanks so much! I really appreciate it. A lot of times it just feels like I'm shouting into the void... Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:29, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
Oh, but you aren't. For my part, I've had...misgivings, shall we say...about AFC for some time, and it was refreshing to hear my feelings echoed by another longtime editor, especially one whose abilities I hold in such regard. The whole business about Korean literature earlier this year validated a lot of my opinions on the subject - it's not the only thing that's happened this year at AFC to give me conniption fits, but it was about the biggest.
By the by - mind shooting me an email when you have the chance? I have a musical question for you, but there's no need to clutter up talkspace with it - it's not Wiki-related. (Well...tangentially, insofar as anything can be related back here.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:39, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Request on 19:03:04, 30 December 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Tavst

Hello! Thanks for your comment on my draft article 'Initial License Offering'. ILOs are quite a new concept that we're actively trying to educate people about. Unfortunately, as they haven't been around for too long there is a lack of resources available. What edits do you advise so our article is eligible to be published in the future?Tavst (talk) 19:03, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Tavst (talk) 19:03, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

@Tavst: There is nothing you can do to make the article eligible if there are not independent reliable sources that already discuss the article. Once the concept has been covered by independent journalists and/or in scholarly sources, you can revise the article so that it is based solely on those sources, and resubmit at that time. Happy New Year!

A wish for the new year
A quote from Gargantua and Pantagruel by Rabelais; it is taken from the manuscript of Jules Massenet's opera Panurge, in the composer's own hand. It is my greeting of choice for the new year, because it encourages us to live joyfully, and try not to take life too seriously...while quaffing whatever beverage we choose, naturally. This has been a challenging year, to say the least; I hope that 2021 may bring a fresh start, and better days ahead. May the new year bring you joy and peace...and many days of fruitful editing.

Why my draft of book Why does a man rape is declined?

They don't show only mention if you clearly read the Policy Times article or Diverge Media, it clearly shows about book. Like in the policy times article it talks about the book and says that ‘Why Does A Man Rape?’; Uncovering the Dark Truths behind the Heinous Act of Rape. Moreover, other articles also talk about the book it's just they have mentioned the author in the beginning and then they have talked about the book but that doesn't mean it is only a mention. In addition, every article shows that what is inside the book and why the author has written it like "This book addresses some taboo and controversial issues related to rape. Why do people rape? Who to blame for rapes? Is rape confined to the human race? Is this new in this generation or are there any references to such incidents in our history? Such questions are answered fluently in his book, 'Why does Man rape'. Kindly tell me your review on this so that I can resubmit it Rajveer90 (talk) 22:54, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

AFC helper script

Hi Calliopejen1, Thanks for accepting my submission, Anna Utenhoven. I noticed that the AFC helper script seems buggy. In this edit, it duplicated some categories that I already added, duplicated the defaultsort, and also added the living people category. Were these just mistakes based on the type of submissions you usually accept, or is there an error in the script? Adaptation Planning

Hi. Calliopejen1. Sorry about the ping I might have sent you earlier today about Draft:Adaptation Planning. It's been on my ‎watchlist for some time and came back to my attention when it was deleted. I'd forgotten in the meantime what you had written in your decline statement.

Would it be OK with you if I ask the folks at WT:WikiProject Climate change what they think of this draft and whether there might be suitable merge target(s), or whether some of it might be viable as a standalone article? I don't know the user who created it, but I Googled his name and he looks to be knowledgeable. I'm mostly trying to give the newbie some encouragement in the hope that he will continue. Speedy deletion nomination of Saddam Hussain

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Saddam Hussain, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Question from Speedoman999 (01:16, 29 June 2021)

Hello, this is Kirk Dean and I got an unusual "E-mail" from a "Warren E Buffet" saying he has a large amount of money for me and being that I am humble but strong- I am wanting to clarify his message and intent because I am one to help people- from individuals- to the multitudes and although it sounds great I would just like to be involved with his business being any finances I receive would be greatly appreciated and guaranteed to go to good causes, after all- My name in itself according to Webster's dictionary is essentially a "Church", and that's how I behave, and although I am not religious, or affiliated with any certain religion- I am immensely spiritual meaning I can adhere to virtually any religion on the planet because I believe that every religion has at least some basis in fact, none the less- please talk to me and I will respond in kind and punctually- Kirk L. Dean... "The minds eye". --Kirk L Dean "The minds eye". (talk) 01:16, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Question from Speedoman999 (01:44, 29 June 2021)

I think- among other issues are that the most important issues facing the current human population is 1) Global warming, 2) overpopulation and 3) waste disposal- unless we confront these issues soon and in a timely fashion- I believe the life we live on this planet will cease to exist in a very short period of time- meaning the planetary temperature is rising rapidly primarily because of automobiles and power plants, and even though there are still wide open spaces- they are either already owned, or are inhospitable, and considering the human population- to sum it up very simply, although discusting is it amounts to about 8-billion flushes per day- Now i believe that is very significant and although complaining doesn't make a darn bit of difference the solutions for everybody to "change their ways" would be as simple as outhouses were in the old days considering even though we recently acquired the space age very rapidly- we are having troubles with the backwash of such a predicament and washing everything into the rivers won't cut it- everything requires containment and proper procedures as to what to do about it, and overpopulation- sure their are contraceptives' but if we have to use an outside source such as preventing the "Corona" virus for example be preventing it from reproducing and the after affect being it slowed human population growth to about 5-percent- if I am accurate, and last but not least- sure cars and powerplants aren't going to go away- but we have to make it profitable such as solar and wind power generation- for example- like immense "solar" farms, etc... and last but not least is to contain our facies and mix it with dirt into pellet's that we can then spread it across the wide open plains to let the earth do what is does best by neutralizing it, then rendering it harmless, and transferred into a more acceptable material thru plants and animals- Just food for thought... God bless and good luck... "The minds eye". --Kirk L Dean "The minds eye". (talk) 01:44, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Request on 23:21:17, 29 June 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by 916crdshn

Someone left the following comment when denying my article: "This is pure original research. If you want to draft a list of neighborhoods that are actually within the city boundaries of Corona, that might be appropriate. But Wikipedia is not the right place for a list of places that you believe are within the influence of Corona."

Here's a source DIRECTLY FROM City of Corona via the City's official website regarding the Sphere of Influence of Corona, CA:

Via CoronaCA.gov: https://www.coronaca.gov/home/showdocument?id=4647 https://www.coronaca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument?id=1700

"Sphere of Influence" isn't some random term I came up with nor are the communities I said are within the "Sphere of Influence" not recognized as such. This isn't something I merely "believe"...It's based in reality, the term "Sphere of Influence" isn't something I made up, and I didn't deviate from what the City's map above shows.

MORE MENTIONS OF CORONA'S SPHERE OF INFLUENCE:

VIA State of California: https://ceqanet.opr.ca.gov/2006031128

VIA Los Angeles Times: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-09-29-mn-4902-story.html

VIA Wikipedia: First two sentences: "Home Gardens is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County, California, United States. "It is within the City of Corona's sphere of influence." *I didn't write this article, but it was approved with the aforementioned "Sphere of Influence" claim. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Gardens,_California

Why was this denied?

If the author of the comment needs to learn the meaning of "Sphere of Influence" as it relates to geography, a quick Google search wouldn't hurt. Simply put, however, in this context, the areas within the Sphere of Influence of Corona, CA are Census Designated Places (CDPs) located within the County of Riverside that either border or are surrounded by the City of Corona and are simply unincorporated - meaning they haven't formed incorporated cities of their own within Riverside County nor have they officially become neighborhoods/sections/districts of other neighboring cities, BUT they share a zip code or multiple zip codes with Corona, CA thereby being recognized as being within the Sphere of Influence of Corona because of their respective locations and ZIP codes.

Again, these are NOT NEIGHBORHOODS I "BELIEVE ARE WITHIN THE INFLUENCE OF CORONA", these actually are recognized by the State of California and United States Postal Service as being within the Sphere of Influence of Corona, CA. When mailing to an address in Coronita, Home Gardens, El Cerrito, or Temescal Valley USPS will recognize those zip codes as being part of Corona, CA and will apply Corona as the CITY THE MAIL IS BEING SENT TO.

Did the person who wrote the comment I'm responding to do any research before commenting that????

I know I'm speaking to a human - I wasn't being rude at all - no slander, name calling, insinuations...everything I posed were questions to the author of the denial message and proof that I'm not making it up. Don't misinterpret my passionate writing and punctuation as being rude, rather address the message and inquiries contained therein knowing that the person to whom you're replying cares deeply about the subject matter.

Your expressed feelings aside, I'll take your advice by making this page a non-detailed list and site my references to each neighborhood regardless as to whether they're within the city limits or city adjacent/Sphere of Influence.

Thanks.

Hi -

My org is trying to publish an article and we recently received a message that our article has copyright violations. We've looked over the article, but can't see anywhere that there is a copyright violation. Here is the article in question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Muslim_Council_of_Elders

Can someone help us understand where there's a copyright violation?

94.249.74.49 (talk) 07:26, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

@Rozella.protas: This website identifies copied content in the article.[3] There may well be additional copied content not identified by this tool, which is not perfect. Presumably, since you created the article you should be best positioned to identify and remove copied content! All copied content should be removed or rewritten from scratch (not just reworded -- see WP:PARAPHRASE). Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck! Calliopejen1 (talk) 07:31, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I'm just not understanding. Yes, there are areas in the article which quote from other sources, but they've all been sourced in the footnotes. They've even been put in quotes, so users understand we're quoting another source. We went over the article, but there's nothing that stands out that hasn't been correctly sourced. Is it possible to review the article again and check the footnotes? @Rozella.protas: The last paragraph is copied and not in quotation marks. And, in any event, it's not really a good practice to copy large chunks of text in quotation marks for various non-copyright reasons (encyclopedias generally shouldn't have block quotes, gives undue weight to speaker's own views, etc.) But if you rewrite the last paragraph it should be fine to approve and this editing process can happen when the article is live. Ping me and/or resubmit once you have finished the last paragraph. Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:44, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Calliopejen1,

Do you have any feedback I can use to help get this article approved? Or do you think that Alderman Simmons's work is worthy of a Wikipedia page?

Thanks!

Shawn Mayberry ShawnMayberry (talk) 17:18, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

ShawnMayberry, hi, I'd say her personal notability is borderline. Most of the sources are about the reparations initiative, not her personally, but some contain a non-trivial amount of information about her. (With the exception of the hyperlocal Evanston source... local news aren't that helpful -- most city council members get run of the mill local news coverage but nonetheless don't qualify for articles.) I'd recommend adding some biographical facts stated in the referenced sources to the draft (with footnotes) and then resubmitting to get someone else's take. Alternatively, a better approach may just be to write about the reparations initiative itself and mention her within that article as the leader of the push for reparations in Evanston. The reparations initiative got a lot of coverage, and so I don't think there would be any issue with notability there. You may also want to ask for help at WT:WIR where people who work on women's biographies hang out. Calliopejen1 (talk) 17:38, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Request for assistance on "Mindsponge" contribution

Hi Jen,

I received an announcement that my contribution to the "Mindsponge" content was declined. Could you please provide more details on how to improve the draft? It would help me a lot in improving my contribution's quality.

Thank you so much! Han — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nmhhg8 (talkcontribs) 18:15, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Nmhhg8, Hi, the issue is that I don't think the topic qualifies for an article. Other than the author who proposed the concept, it doesn't seem like other academics are writing about it. Could you provide a list of articles where the concept is discussed (not just mentioned or cited) in peer-reviewed papers other than articles by Vuong, Quan-Hoang? Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:18, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply, Jen! As far as I know, the concept has been widely discussed by other academics using various languages, like English, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese. It's hard to create a list of articles as you require, so I think the list of works citing the original papers of the concept might help.

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=0&hl=vi&as_sdt=2005&sciodt=0,5&cites=9245576165775423058&scipsc= https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=0&hl=vi&as_sdt=2005&sciodt=0,5&cites=10870011086755930757&scipsc=

By the way, I acknowledged that my early draft was quite superficial, so I've been conducting extensive research and preparing a more detailed draft on the topic. I'm planning to resubmit soon. It would be very nice if I could receive some advice from you before the resubmission.

Cheers, Han

Nmhhg8, it's really not enough that the paper proposing the topic is cited elsewhere, particularly where it's Vuong citing him/herself (or Minh Hoang Nguyen -- is that you? I ask because it's the initials of your username -- citing Vuong, his sometime collaborator). I did a search for "mindsponge mechanism" in google scholar and excluded certain preprints and very little came up, particular when you consider the articles' citation counts. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=10&q=%22mindsponge+mechanism%22+-osf.io&hl=en&as_sdt=0,5 If authors are writing about this in other languages, you need to cite those articles, though I'm a little skeptical given that English (in abstracts at a minimum) is the lingua franca of academic publishing. Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:47, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Here are the results if you exclude Vuong's own papers... almost nothing.[4] Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:48, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

I see. Yes, I'm Minh-Hoang Nguyen. I was one of the users of the Mindsponge mechanism. Could you please check again with the term "mindsponge" only, because it might be referred to by different names https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=0&q=%22mindsponge%22+-osf.io&hl=en&as_sdt=0,5 https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=0&q=%22mindsponge%22+-osf.io+-author:vuong&hl=en&as_sdt=0,5 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nmhhg8 (talkcontribs) 19:03, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Nmhhg8, Thanks. I note that most of these are pre-prints, though I have not gone much past the first page of results. You certainly can try to revise and resubmit. I would recommend against making the article longer; to the contrast, it is better to make it shorter and use only the highest-quality references, including high-quality references written by people other than Vuong (and other than you as well). I would recommend investing your effort primarily in a literature search to identify the best references. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:59, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
By the way, in your draft, please do not cite/rely upon papers that do not discuss the mindsponge mechanism explicitly. For example, "Making creativity: the value of multiple filters in the innovation process" does not even mention it. The first step of review for whoever reviews the article next is an audit of the references. It is not helpful to your cause if they find references that don't discuss mindsponge at all, or contain only superficial mentions. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:03, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I will try to modify the draft according to your advice.

Have a nice day! Han

Hi Jen,

I just resubmitted the draft for re-review. I would like to summarize major changes that I have made here:

1) I have added more basic details of the concept and its conceptual diagram for the readership. 2) I have added high-quality references that used the concept explicitly (e.g. peer-review articles, books, dissertations, and theses). Also, I tried to keep the draft as neutral as possible, so I did not include studies written by Vuong Q-H and myself unless those references are very important.

Could you please have a look through it and give me some feedback?

Thank you! Han

PhoCoHaNoi/Draft: Khanh D. Pham -- Request of Help on Neutral Point of View

Hi Jen,

I am very new to Wikipedia and thus I am so grateful for your kind review and comments. Per your concern of lacking of reliable sources, I have attempted to add more inline footnote citations. Yet, I am not sure whether I have met your expectations. Would you please so kind to either highlight or call out some specific sentences and portions that need my close attentions on: i) neutrality of point of view and ii) reliable sources for verifiability.

Your truly student. Thanks.

Hello, it seems to me that you are likely to be Pham or have a conflict of interest with respect to him. Given my limited volunteer time, I generally avoid working with people with conflicts of interest, so I won't be able to provide much help.... One specific example for you: "The most satisfaction Pham has day-to-day is knowing he is able to serve, represent, and motivate a cadre of 100 plus high tech small businesses and entrepreneurs that represents the growth and development of so many future leaders and engineers by means of America’s Seed Fund and the likes." My general advice is to limit the content in the draft to what independent, secondary reliable sources (usually these will be newspaper articles) say. If a fact cannot be sourced to a reliable newspaper article, delete it. Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:15, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

An 'essay'?

I could understand that, you declined my draft article 'Pigments in chloroplast'. Your reason was that draft article reads like an essay. Can you explain why it looks like an essay? Hrishikesh Namboothiri V (talk) 11:48, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Hrishikesh Namboothiri V, A lot of student essays take the form of here is an article about X, but then just unnecessarily summarize information in subparts A, B, C, D, etc. that already are adequately covered elsewhere. The current draft is also somewhat badly written in the way that student essays often are. In any event, it's not clear to me why we need an article listing pigments in chlorophyll and providing a paragraph about each. We also already have the article Accessory pigment. Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:09, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Then can I change it to a list article? Hrishikesh Namboothiri V (talk) 05:50, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Hrishikesh Namboothiri V, if it is just a list, why wouldn't it be better to cover in the cloroplast article? Calliopejen1 (talk) 12:34, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback on the Fulcrum Acoustic article draft. You mentioned the article was declined because the references lack significant coverage. There are more Pro AV magazine references I can add to the article but I wanted to make sure I understand the issue. Is it that there are not enough referenced articles? Or does the article require more diverse publications?

ChazGoodman (talk) 20:18, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Publications that are just rehashed press releases don't count toward notability. See WP:CORP. Most of what you have falls in that category, and if Pro AV is more of the same, then it won't be any help. We need substantive articles based on independent reporting. See wp:Corp for more details. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:34, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

also, interviews don't establish notability either, so the Boston Globe piece you have doesn't help... Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:35, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Tobias Adrian

I have resubmitted this draft article after including more references. I invite you to take a second look. It is difficult to think of a more eminent economist: when Christine Lagarde puts out a press release with your job offer, you have pretty much arrived. Hanjaf1 (talk) 00:00, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, Unfortunately, I think you have made it worse rather than better. What the article needs to be based on are independent reliable secondary sources about Adrian (as opposed to articles that he wrote or in which he is quoted or interviewed). In his field, the sources you should be looking for are newspaper articles, and that is what the vast majority of sources for the article should be. Right now very few (if any?) of the sources are acceptable. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:18, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, Maybe I should have stated it more simply: what you need is better references, not more references. In my opinion, it would be best to identify the five or so best sources about Adrian (in-depth newspaper profiles of him, ideally), delete the entire content of the article that is there now, and summarize what those five newspaper articles say instead. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:20, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Well, your opinion is one of many, and I disagree. Hanjaf1 (talk) 00:23, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, well, let's see what the next reviewer says. I'm a mere mortal but am one of the few hundred top contributors here on the English Wikipedia. I've been around a long time, and I know what is expected of biographies here. I predict that the enormous quantity of references will mean that it does not get reviewed promptly (because who wants to click through all of them when most do not comply with our policies) but will ultimately be declined. You're lucky because there's currently a drive to clear the backlog of submissions that is ongoing. Instead of waiting till the end of the five-month queue it's possible that it will only be days or weeks. Though you never know. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:31, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Can you read German, big shot? [5] Hanjaf1 (talk) 00:33, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, I can't, but this is exactly the sort of reference that the article should be based on -- not IMF press releases, interviews of Adrian, or things Adrian wrote. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:35, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, If the article had five references like these instead of the 41 mostly worthless (for Wikipedia purposes) sources you have now, and simply summarized what those five articles said, it would be swiftly approved. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:37, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, I'm now looking at his Google Scholar page, which makes clear that he qualifies for an article.[6] I'm going to revise the draft substantially and approve it. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:41, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
I would appreciate that very much. You needn't have looked him up on Google Scholar: his authority control information was all there already. Hanjaf1 (talk) 00:43, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, Do you have a source like a literature review, textbook, etc. for the claims about the significance of his work on the inverted yield curve? That paper is not that highly cited (relative to his others at least) and our article on the inverted yield curve attributes that insight to someone else. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:54, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Hanjaf1, BTW Google Scholar does citation counts, which the others through the authority control links don't (?). With three papers cited >1000 times, you definitely get an article. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:59, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your timely intervention. I can see now that I got off on the wrong track, and the page is significantly improved. Hanjaf1 (talk) 17:59, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
  • I accepted the draft, accepted that he is an eminent economist, and did so despite the excessive primary and connected source count, because it could be readily stubified to survive AfD. I think the page is likely to be rapidly involved with the greater attention it receives due to being in mainspace. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 02:23, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

JohnMendal, I'm happy to provide advice but I highly doubt that The Press Walla qualifies for an article, given how new it is. The first step for you is locating independent reliable sources that discuss The Press Walla. These would generally be newspaper articles published in other newspapers. Do any of those exist? Greatbear0021, Yes, this is closer. The one issue with this article is that it appears to simply be a summary of an interview rather than reporting with a variety of sources. (Interviews do not count toward Wikipedia's notability requirements.) Calliopejen1 (talk) 13:15, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

César Yauri Huanay

Howdy! This goes way back to a stub you made in 2009. Do you have any tips on what might be notable about him? Was this possibly made from a translation of another language wiki? I have been poking around but cannot find much. Thanks. --- Possibly 04:45, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Possibly, I suspect that this was from the period when I was converting a system of requested translation organized by lists into the current template system. For many articles, I had to start a small stub to apply the banner so I could remove the item from the list. I have no idea if this person is notable and won't care if it's prodded. Steve Ravic article submission query

Hi Calliopejen1 , I finally had some free time on my hands and was about to re-write the draft on Steve Ravic due it being declined by user Ken Tony, but I'd noticed you'd resubmitted the article.

There's a bit of a story here, but I'll try be brief: Ken Tony declined my third submission on Steve Ravic because a clone of it appeared on Everybodywiki, which after some research turns out that, to my understanding, take submissions that have been declined and post it on their own wiki, either to stay up there or to be eventually deleted if Wikipedia does accept the submission, kind of like a back-up I guess. So my ultimatum was to reword the submission slightly and resubmit it even though it was originally all my wording and that the Wikipedia page predates the EverybodyWiki one. So instead I asked if Ken Tony would be ok if I contacted EverybodyWiki to try and get them to take it down or even just get permission for me to take it down myself and this was agreeable to Ken Tony.

Since I haven't been getting responses from EverybodyWiki I thought I'd just reword it and resubmit it but I noticed you had put it up for review. I was just wondering if this would effect the draft's chance of being accepted since I haven't made changes and wasn't successful with getting in contact with EverybodyWiki, I'm just worried the the draft will be deleted as per one of the lines on the notice (Namely this one: "If you have not resolved the issues listed above, your draft will be declined again and potentially deleted"), but if it's a non-issue I'm all good with that.

I'd like to thank you for resubmitting on my behalf if you thought it was good enough to make the cut though, it does put some pep back in my step for writing here. MetalDarren (talk) 15:20, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

MetalDarren, Hi! KenTony is a new reviewer and made a lot of mistakes when reviewing. There is no need to worry about anything posted at EverybodyWiki or to revise because it's there. I don't have any opinion about the draft itself, but that wasn't a valid reason to decline it! Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:51, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Tarun Chhabra

Hello. New Wikipedia editor but longtime reader here. Trying my hand at editing and article creation to pay it forward.

You rejected my article on Tarun Chhabra. He seems notable is listed on the White House National Security Council page and is considered by multiple journalistic sources (e.g. Politico, Axios) to be an important player in the Biden White House. What could I do to make his placement more compelling?

Thanks!

@Wghgljsj: What you need are sources about Chhabra (where did he go to school? what has his career trajectory been? etc), not articles in which he is merely quoted or mentioned. If you have sources like that, please add them. Note that adding more low-quality sources is not helpful. Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:53, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Also note that these need to be in independent reliable sources (here those would typically be newspaper articles). Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:54, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Question from DeptfordDave JC (00:05, 27 July 2021)

Hi,

After seeing the entry for Zak Starkey, and thought it needed an addition. I decided to add an entry, so I joined (s'thing I've thought about doing for a long time). However, as I"m not really good with web coding stuff, I used other entries to shape the way I should do add citations and references.

My first question is to ask if my entry is OK (not sure if this is the type of question I should ask)?

The entry is under the section title: "Other projects: 1980–present". My entry is the paragraph starting: 'In 2016, Starkey...'

Also, as basis of this entry is to state that he launched Trojan Jamaica, there is no Wiki page for Trojan Jamaica. Does one need to be created? It's a small label, licensed by Trojan Records that does have a page.

Also, I'm a Brit in Canada, and tend to use Canadian English, which generally uses British spelling, while generally using US punctuation. I do see that depending on the entry, both US and Brit English is used, along with other countries' English standards. --DeptfordDave JC (talk) 00:05, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Please do not mark as 'minor' anything which changes the way the prose is read and/or understood (see Help:Minor edit). Otherwise looks good. You could add a bulleted entry for Trojan Jamaica at Trojan Records#Labels licensed to Trojan.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 00:51, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
DeptfordDave JC, hi and welcome to Wikipedia! Your addition looks good to me! I somewhat doubt that Trojan Jamaica qualifies for an article based on some initial googling. The relevant standard is WP:NCORP, which is more stringent than the general standard, especially because of problems with spam. If you are interested in starting an article (which I discourage because of its borderline notability and also because starting a new article is the hardest possible thing you can do as a new user here), please see WP:YFA. As for British vs. American English, most articles on British topics use British English, and most articles on American topics use American English (and likewise for smaller English varieties). The Starkey article uses British English, which is indicated in a hidden template at the top of the article that can be viewed in the code editing view. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:56, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Question from D.kumara narayan on User:D.kumara narayan (17:02, 27 July 2021)

How can i attache picture in my article --D.kumara narayan (talk) 17:02, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

D.kumara narayan, hi and welcome to Wikipedia! To add an article using the visual editor, see Help:Introduction to images with VisualEditor/1. There is a button at the bottom of that page that will take you to an equivalent page for the code editor if you are using that instead. I will note that the only contributions of yours I have seen are not in English, and the English language Wikipedia only accepts articles in English. See List of Wikipedias for a list of wikipedias in other languages. Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:51, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Help! The dark mode is misbehaving!

Hello Calliopejen1. Can you please tell me how to get rid of dark mode because it doesn't work when I use the preferences and I always save the preferences. I also tried the special page: Help:Preferences, and that didn't answer any of my questions.

I didn't really know I had a mentor until now, so it's my first time asking you a question.

Thank you sooo much!

Request on 00:12:45, 23 July 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by JenBraddy

Hi Calliopejen1, this was my first article submission and I just have a couple of questions--

First-- Your feedback asks that I cite independent, reliable, published sources and I made a conscious effort to do exactly that... If you review my 38 sources, you'll see news outlets, .org sites, business journals, charity websites, retail publications, etc etc. The only exception is a company pdf that supports their process improvement steps & social responsibility. If I delete citation #34, will that resolve this issue?

Secondly-- Can you please give me an example of an excerpt that can be written less like an advertisement? I did my best to model this writeup like the Rooms to Go page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooms_To_Go) and other similar furniture pages that have been published, but your insight/feedback will help me edit more effectively.

Any tips/ insights you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

JenBraddy (talk) 00:12, 23 July 2021 (UTC)JenBraddy

JenBraddy (talk) 00:12, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

JenBraddy, ad language examples: "Since opening its doors in 1971" " Rather than heading into the corporate world post-graduation," "Keith and Andrew continue Kevin's legacy through CITY Furniture’s culture of continuous improvement", " include furniture options for every room", listing every minor donation they have ever made, etc. I didn't look closely at the sources and declined on the basis of it being an ad alone. I am, however, wary of the Furniture Today source, which looks like it does a fair amount of reprinting repackaged press releases, particularly the ones that have "anonymous" for a byline. See e.g. [7]. Repackaged press releases aren't reliable sources. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:22, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi Calliopejen1,

Thank you for your feedback and explanation. I have edited my writeup and am hoping you'd be kind enough to tell me if this is closer to what you are looking for.

I also have a few questions about your feedback. Specifically-

First- "Listing every minor donation they have ever made, etc." Does 'etc' refer to the eco-friendliness section or another part of the writeup? Asking because as a consumer, I tend to seek out companies that conduct themselves ethically and invest in their communities, so I believe these sections are important inclusions. If you perceive them as "salesy", how would you suggest I modify the wording in order to keep them mentionable in the article?

Second- Re Furniture Today-- I understand why articles without authors are no bueno so I will replace/get rid of those. Do I need to remove/replace ALL Furniture Today citations? This is an industry publication that differentiates press releases from written articles... For example, citation #30 Are the original content articles also no good?

Lastly- This is a huge company that does a lot for the community, which is why they are worth inclusion in wiki. Would a "less is more" approach have a better chance at approval?

Again, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your guidance & insights. JenBraddy (talk) 00:45, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

JenBraddy, etc refers to the fact that basically the entire article felt like a sales pitch. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy spending my limited volunteer time coaching people writing quasi sales pitches about marginal companies. Overall I would recommend massively chopping down the article and playing it very straight. Imagine writing the most boring, factual possible narrative you could write. Question from Gloriajjoz (20:41, 2 August 2021)

Hi! I am having trouble getting a page that needs to be published to be actually published - let me know how you are able to help! --Gloriajjoz (talk) 20:41, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Gloriajjoz, please read the decline messages you received and follow the links and read those pages too. The article needs to be based on reliable independent sources (for a band, typically these would be newspaper articles). If there are not sufficient such sources, then they do not qualify for an article. I'm not sure why you say it "needs" to be published. If you have been a conflict of interest read WP:PSCOI and if you are a paid editor read WP:PAID and make the required disclosure. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:47, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Claudio Clemente de Reyes (July 22)

Literary criticism is essentially an opinion which we're all entitled to, however, just because you (Calliopejen1) do not understand or agree with a particular type of literature does not give you the right to refer to it as "junk"...that's extremely rude and unacceptable! I will be looking elsewhere to publish my articles. Jreyes101 (talk) 19:53, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

Lay minister

Hi Calliopejen1, your point is well made, so I've taken that into account in creating a dab page. The reason for that is that there is no mention of lay ministers at laity except within the Mormon church and nothing that would lead anyone to the article on Anglican LLMs at all. So I've set up a dab page. What is needed now is to cover lay ministry more fully in all the other denominations you mention at the Laity article. Meanwhile I'll link them. Trinidad Sánchez Moreno moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Trinidad Sánchez Moreno, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Calliopejen1 (talk) 21:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Sarah McKim

Many thanks for helping fix the article. I saw you've managed to find books and bibliography about her. Would you mind sharing with me the process as I'm having a similar issue on my draft about Draft:Catherine Cussans and I was wondering whether I could still salvage it or not. Appreciate your guidance. --WomenProj (talk) 11:38, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

WomenProj, to be honest, it's not clear to me that McKim merits an article, though I think it is at least worth a community discussion, which is why I accepted it. My approach depends on the subject. Here, Cussans is from long enough ago that the usual online newspaper databases are not likely to have anything. So I look at Google Books, Google Scholar, JSTOR, Gale, and a general Google search. I'd try "Catherine Cussans", "Catherine Holburne Cussans", and "Mrs. Thomas Cussans". This, from the Holburne Museum, is the most I found. I think she probably does not qualify for an article. Especially given that that write-up doesn't seem to indicate that she did anything of note--it's primarily a genealogical description... You could post at WT:WIR to see if anyone there finds anything more. Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:57, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

Review on Wikipedia page Michal Novotny (curator)

Dear Calliopejen1 Many thanks for your reviews. I would like to understand how regarding the fact Michal Novotny was the director of the most important contemporary art place in Czech Republic (Futura) and is now the Director of the Modern and contemporary art collection of the biggest museum in Czech Republic (National Gallery), doesn't make it enough "notable" for a wikipedia article .

Regarding the article you are cited, I would be glad to add this part. Let me know if you have any further tips to improve.

Many thanks for your time Cordially

@Juliebaie: I actually expected to be accepting the article when I saw his positions, but there were essentially no good sources about him cited, and I found very few additional sources when I searched. Wikipedia judges notability based on press coverage. Please add to the article high-quality independent reliable sources discussing him and his career trajectory. These would be magazine or newspaper articles (not interviews though). By the way, adding additional low-quality articles will not help you, so beware of doing that. I say this because that's what often happens... We don't need any more articles where he is mentioned. We need articles that discuss him for at least a few paragraphs. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:05, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Dear Calliopejen1, I am super grateful for your precise feedbacks. I added 3 articles. I hope it will be ok. Anyway again thank you for your time and words. Cordially Julie

Request on 14:38:46, 13 August 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by BaltimoreReporter

My submission for a page about Baltimore Fishbowl was declined about a week ago. Calliopejen1 said the page submission was declined because the references "do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject." However, the page references multiple reliable secondary sources' coverage of Baltimore Fishbowl's work, including Baltimore Fishbowl's story on cannabis arrests (which was written/talked about in The Baltimore Sun, WYPR, CityLab and others) as well as Baltimore Fishbowl being awarded several "Best of Baltimore" wins by Baltimore Magazine. Can you further explain why these references do not meet the criteria for significant coverage? Other news outlets, such as the Baltimore Brew (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Brew) have fewer references but still have a page. That is not to say that their page submission should not have been accepted (it certainly should as they are a valuable local news source), but so should Baltimore Fishbowl.

BaltimoreReporter (talk) 14:38, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

BaltimoreReporter, The newspapers simply mentioning that the Fishbowl did some reporting (or summarizing reporting by the Fishbowl) does not count toward notability. What we are looking for is several sources that discuss the Fishbowl as a news website generally in some depth-- say, a few paragraphs each. When and why did it start? Who founded it, and what is their background? What sort of journalism do they typically do? We need sources that discuss these sorts of things (again, in some depth) to be able to write an article. The "best of" article is the closest you have, but it's borderline, and it's only one source. Calliopejen1 (talk) 15:24, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Please help!

Hello @Calliopejen1: I am writing you because you have been involved with the ongoing debate between me and cristodelosgitanos. I know as an administrator it is one of your jobs to uphold the guidelines and make sure everyone feels safe and respected especially when it comes to protected attributes. I am afraid if I go to ANI he will accuse me of doing this in order to stop consensus but that is simply not true so I am coming to you here first since you’ve been generally neutral and to make it clear this has nothing to do with the Flamenco page, the worst insults actually came from an entirely different page. Ever since cristodelosgitanos has first started editing he has continually harassed me and my colleagues with personal attacks and threats. He has made it extremely unpleasant for me to edit on Wikipedia because of these constant personal attacks and has taken it too far. He constantly assumes my outside identity and attacks me and my intelligence for it. I simply cannot go on with addressing him after what he has said to me as it has deeply offended me on another level, so this is just to alert you that until this is resolved I will only be responding to you as I did not come on this website to get harassed. He has attacked my nationality, character, ethnicity, and race, even when most of his assumptions were wrong while I have never once mentioned anything about his personal background at all. I have warned him so many times to stop with the personal attacks but he has continued and has now crossed the line with the most offensive thing you could ever tell a Romani person like myself. Here are just a few examples:

  • ”Indian nationalist”
  • “you are out of your depth on this topic”
  • ”a topic you are not familiar with since it does not pertain to your ethno-linguistic domain.”
  • ”I am quite convinced you do not speak Spanish, you have never been to Spain nor know anything about Spanish/ Andalusian culture or Flamenco. Yet you insist on pushing a false narrative in this article because of your interest in Romani activism and need to appropriate flamenco for your particular cause.”
  • ”hippy blogger”
  • ”Rosamaria Cisneros-Kostic is and ACTIVIST from somewhere in the midwest. They are basically hippies which are the only sources you seem capable of providing. Please give me a break. These people are not reliable. They teach dancing and hippy stuff in third rate universities in the US.” Also goes on to attack a Calé Roma Dr. Rosamaria Cisneros Kostic calling her a hippie, a “figure” and “colorful character” as well as continuing with the clear anti-American rhetoric(Both Dr. Kostic Cisneros and Me are not from the USA but regardless)
  • ”In the long run, its a lost cause.” Threatens me to stop editing and defending my position also threatens to edit war if I don’t follow his specific guidelines, which are contrary to Wikipedia guidelines
  • he goes on the reliable source/NPOV noticeboard and calls me an activist user in a derogatory way
  • accusing me of lying about knowing Spanish
  • ”nor are your conspiracy theories relevant here.”
  • ”I really don't think an editor who until a few days ago thought that Flamenco was a "dance" and has been pitching pseudo-academics as "Flamenco historians" should be the one to decide which sources are "independent".

And here is where it gets even worse beyond just petty attacks:

  • He come on MY talk page and threatens me to not make anymore edits relating to gitanos ”Por tus ediciones a mi m queda bastante claro que en tu vida has estado en nuestro pais ni has conocido a un gitano.” (From you edits it’s has become abundantly clear that in your life you have never left your country nor have you every met a gitano) and yes I translated that myself
  • ”gringo que jamas ha salido de su pais” [8] He insulted my cultural literacy by calling me a derogatory Mexican slang term for White Americans and saying I’ve never left my country. Note that i’m am neither White nor American but trying to expose and attack someone’s personal background regardless if they are right or wrong is against Wikipedia guidelines.
  • and worst of all this comment right here where he crossed the line and disrespected me beyond belief:[9] “I'm quite familiar with white americans adopting fanciful identities such as cherokee or romani.” He called me a White American pretending to be Romani, this is the biggest Insult you could ever tell a Rom, not only is he wrongly assuming my personal background, he has attacked me in the worst way possible and has literally made Wikipedia a living hell for me to edit. I have warned him multiple times to stop with the personal attacks but he won’t stop. Please do something about this, at least talk to him or give him a warning, I will not address him at all until he stops with the personal attacks and issues a formal apology. I am not overreacting, he has insulted me in the highest degree possible. He has continually used condescending language and practiced general incivility with me but this is too far. I know Wikipedia is supposed to be a professional place where Editors do not get attacked on protected attributes such as Race. Nationality and Ethnicity, please at least give him a warning. Sincerely, TagaworShah (talk) 23:10, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi. I'm happy to say something to him, though I don't want to be the arbiter of your personal dispute to the extent it will interfere with my ability to help with the content dispute. Some of the things above are fine, and some cross the line (mostly the ones relating to your personal background cross the line). If you take this to ANI, I advise you to highlight the following: ”Indian nationalist” (this one is borderline), "a topic you are not familiar with since it does not pertain to your ethno-linguistic domain" (possibly bad, hard to tell out of context... you may want to add some context to this one), "Por tus ediciones a mi m queda bastante claro que en tu vida has estado en nuestro pais ni has conocido a un gitano" (this is mostly bad because it is irrelevant), "gringo que jamas ha salido de su pais" (i'd say this crosses the line to a personal attack but it is somewhat minor IMO, especially I'm not sure that a Spaniard using the word "gringo" is necessarily using it with a negative connotation... but again this violates the rule to comment on edits, not editors), "I'm quite familiar with white americans adopting fanciful identities such as cherokee or romani" (this is bad and irrelevant). Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:21, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
@Calliopejen1: Thank you so much! I just wanted to run it by an involved administrator first to make sure this doesn’t get misinterpreted as me trying to prevent consensus in our flamenco discussion, imo the worst attacks were on completely different pages. I agree that you becoming the arbitrator of this dispute might hamper consensus, I will now take this to ANI thank you for the tips!TagaworShah (talk) 23:36, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
TagaworShah, thanks. I left a note on his talk page but I'm hoping that others can take it from here to the extent necessary. Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:40, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Would you please review the draft:Seyed Ali Jaberi and helping to resolve issues? WPooya (talk) 06:24, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

WPooya, Hi, this is not an area of interest for me, so I won't be able to help out much. My two comments are: 1) it looks very similar to the article about him that was deleted last year. You may want to add a comment at the top of the page indicating how it is different. 2) I see references in Farsi that are listed only with their English-language titles. This is a bad idea because if the link goes dead we want to be able to search for the reference. The "title" parameter in the reference is for the original title (i.e. Farsi) and the "trans-title" parameter is for an English translation. Calliopejen1 (talk) 11:51, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

One of the leading photography studios in Chennai, KO Studio was founded by Mr S.P. Muthuraman, who is the current CEO and Chief Cameraman. About CEO Mr. S.P. Muthuraman has been very passionate about photography since his early teenage years. Growing up, he leaned toward art and didn’t realize that he had this thing for photography until he picked up a camera for the first time. Soon after the photography bug bit, he decided not to ignore it and set out to learn the basics of the capturing photographs. He spent countless hours behind the camera and honed his skills to advance to a level where he decided he could make a profession out of his passion.

Muthuraman has spent the last two and a half decades exploring different genres and becoming one of the reputed photographers in Chennai. Over a career spanning 25 years, he has been fortunate enough to collaborate with some of the best photographers in Chennai and work on several individual projects covering a wide range of photographic genres.

He adores what he does with his camera, and loves being able to use his skills to capture some key moments for his clients that make them happy – one day, he can be in a studio doing staged shoots taking close up shots of products, the next standing by a private beach in ECR capturing memorable shots for a newlywed couple, or taking candid photographs of a family get together event that are reflective of the exact dynamic and energy of the family. Hi - I'm a journalist, now retired, of 46 years standing. There was once a Wikipedia page about me which disappeared at some point. I don't know who wrote it. I would like to revive a page about myself. How can this be done? Thanks. --Blasty72 (talk) 10:55, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Blasty72, do you know what the title of the article was? there was probably a good reason it was deleted. writing autobiographies on Wikipedia is highly discouraged, as well. Calliopejen1 (talk) 13:28, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
I can't remember a title. I simply found it by Googling my name and up came a Wikipedia article about me - which I quite liked! There are contemporaries of mine, other journalists of the same era, who are currently featured on Wikipedia and I would just like the same for myself.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Blasty72 (talkcontribs)
(by talk reader) @Blasty72: I note that you've started writing a bio and the discussion here on the same person explains the journalist in question is not notable. As you have a conflict of interest regarding yourself, as we all do, it is unwise for you lobby editors in this manner. Generally speaking, wanting an article about oneself on Wikipedia is vanity, and the article often becomes a regret as the subject cannot control what the article about them says. Please do not see a Wikipedia article as some sort of award. We are an encyclopedia written by dilettantes and you should find recognition elsewhere. Question Regarding WP:NLT

Hello, and thank you for being my mentor!

I observed a legal threat be made by an IP user ([10]) during RCP'ing in Huggle. Per WP:NLT it recommends reporting this to an administrator or WP:ANI. I also see that the IP user was reverted and given a warning by administrator Schazjmd. I have a couple of questions about this:

  1. If an IP user is making the threat, is reporting that to WP:ANI most fitting or would WP:AIV or another venue be more appropriate?
  2. Is the warning issued for making legal threats a courtesy, and thus a report can be made for making the threat within of itself, or is it similar to vandalism warnings wherein an administrator taking action is dependent on the user being warned first?

Thank you for your time! —Sirdog (talk) 22:37, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Sirdog! This isn't an area I work in much. My general sense/hunch is that you don't need a warning before a block for NLT. I don't really know anything about how IP users intersect with NLT issues. I'd recommend asking at WP:AN. Good luck, and sorry I can't really answer your question!   Arbitration

  • A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
  • Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
  • The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.

  Miscellaneous

  • Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
  • The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.

Question from Alexander - Ashley (15:28, 6 October 2021)

How do I add a citation? --Alexander - Ashley (talk) 15:28, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Alexander - Ashley Check out Help:VisualEditor#Adding_a_new_reference and let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck! By the way, I see that you added a reference to Wikipedia in this edit, and then another editor came along and substituted it out for another non-Wikipedia reference (the reference cited in the Wikipedia article you put in the footnote). Per WP:UGC, it's not a good idea to cite to Wikipedia. But of course you can always cite to other reliable sources that Wikipedia cites. Good luck and happy editing! RfA 2021 review update

Thanks so much for participating in Phase 1 of the RfA 2021 review. 8 out of the 21 issues discussed were found to have consensus. Thanks to our closers of Phase 1, Primefac and Wugapodes.

The following had consensus support of participating editors:

  1. Corrosive RfA atmosphere
The atmosphere at RfA is deeply unpleasant. This makes it so fewer candidates wish to run and also means that some members of our community don't comment/vote.
  2. Level of scrutiny
Many editors believe it would be unpleasant to have so much attention focused on them. This includes being indirectly a part of watchlists and editors going through your edit history with the chance that some event, possibly a relatively trivial event, becomes the focus of editor discussion for up to a week.
  3. Standards needed to pass keep rising
It used to be far easier to pass RfA however the standards necessary to pass have continued to rise such that only "perfect" candidates will pass now.
  4. Too few candidates
There are too few candidates. This not only limits the number of new admin we get but also makes it harder to identify other RfA issues because we have such a small sample size.
  5. "No need for the tools" is a poor reason as we can find work for new admins

The following issues had a rough consensus of support from editors:

  1. Lifetime tenure (high stakes atmosphere)
Because RfA carries with it lifetime tenure, granting any given editor sysop feels incredibly important. This creates a risk adverse and high stakes atmosphere.
  2. Admin permissions and unbundling
There is a large gap between the permissions an editor can obtain and the admin toolset. This brings increased scrutiny for RFA candidates, as editors evaluate their feasibility in lots of areas.
  3. RfA should not be the only road to adminship
Right now, RfA is the only way we can get new admins, but it doesn't have to be.

Please consider joining the brainstorming which will last for the next 1-2 weeks. This will be followed by Phase 2, a 30 day discussion to consider solutions to the problems identified in Phase 1.

There are 2 future mailings planned. One when Phase 2 opens and one with the results of Phase 2. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Gerda's October corner

October songs

Today: DYK #1700, and I uploaded images, mostly blue and green, for hope. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:53, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Gerda Arendt Your photos are so lovely! I wish I had more time to spend in nature. And congrats on the DYK! I wish I could assist with German translations, but I speak only Spanish and (a bit of, decreasing by the day...) French! Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:09, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! Did you notice who created the DYK article? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:46, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt Yes, I saw/see that it was initially LouisAlain and then you and Grimes2. My thoughts about LouisAlain are very complicated. I understand that he did some work that was a good stepping stone for others (and I'm sure work that was good even standing alone), but it does not negate his detrimental contributions and his victim/persecution complex. I know you were friends and I don't intend to grave-dance, so I'll leave it at that. No use discussing further at this point, he's already blocked... Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:50, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
What leaves me unhappy - if I may still speak, no need to answer - is that one person was singled out for a problem he can't influence: that the German Wikipedia has different referencing style. I made a suggestion in the AN thread, not regarding one user, but general for this type of article, - perhaps comment there? He is a victim, and left before being blocked, I don't see him even want to return, - would you want to work with people who tell you that a red link would be better than your article? I explained on my talk how I was helped by great users from the start, and nobody gave me the impression that my productions were inferior, - the miracle of Wikipedia if it happens: that a Stockhausen expert helps a newbie and layperson with her second article (see Talk:Siegfried Palm). Today's DYK is by the same gang, btw, and more to come, such as Max Creutz ;) - Seriously: I am so thankful to have met biographies like that, and I - and the world - will have to miss that type of content. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:27, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Question from Max Carbide (02:14, 15 October 2021)

Hello, I was looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Randolph and found this "Ann figured in a scandal involving her brother-in-law and distant cousin, Richard Randolph of Bizarre, in which he was responsible for "feloniously murdering a child said to be borne of Nancy [Ann] Randolph."[9]"

I knew this was only an accusation and checked the source of footnote 9

which there reads

"Judith's husband Richard WAS ACCUSED of "feloniously murdering a child said to be borne of Nancy [Ann] Randolph."1 Defended by Patrick Henry and John Marshall, he was ACQUITTED of the crime."

Well, now how do I proceed to make the edit? --Max Carbide (talk) 02:14, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Max Carbide Just press edit! Change "responsible for" to "accused of" and note in the "edit summary" that you're making the change to conform the text to what the reference actually says. Thanks for catching this. Calliopejen1 (talk) 02:18, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi

Calliopejen1 wanted to give you a heads up and express thanks. Despite having a massive head-on confrontation, trading insults, we eventually managed to resolve our disputes and practically reach consensus from diametrically opposed positions. Calliopejen1 But thank you for trying to mediate between Tagawor and I. Turned out we managed to come to an agreement and I think we can work productively on the article. COI Request for Input on Draft Article

Hi User:Calliopejen1: I have created a draft article for Draft:VIDA Retail and am looking for input from various volunteer editors before recommending it for creation. I found your name under the Wikipedia:WikiProject Fashion page and wanted to request your input on this business. I thought it might be of interest to you as a part of that Wiki group. As I have declared, I am in a COI relationship with this person, so am going about my requests according to the Wikipedia guidelines for such. If you might have some time to provide feedback on the article, I'd greatly appreciate it. Best to you, LeepKendall (talk) 02:21, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

LeepKendall, I made some revisions to your article to make it less like an ad and more like a Wikipedia article. At this point, I'd just recommend submitting it for review. I'm not sure that it qualifies for an article given the WP:CORP requirements--it's probably borderline. But that's a matter of the nature of the sources available, not any issue with the draft as written. Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:31, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Kambiz Derambakhsh

Hello, I translated Draft:Kambiz Derambakhsh article directly from Persian (Farsi) Wikipedia and add some sources from French wikipedia article. I didn't understand copyright problem of this article. Kidsonthemoon (talk) 08:12, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi Kidsonthemoon! First thing: If you translate from another Wikipedia, you need to attribute the source for your translation. I have done that for you now, so that is taken care of.[12] Second thing: It appears that the fa.wiki article you translated from itself had copyright problems. See this comparison of the fa.wiki article and the Shamis art gallery page about Derambakhsh. If you speak Farsi, I would encourage you to clean up the fa.wiki article so that it no longer is a copyright problem. And then also remove/rewrite from scratch any text in the en.wiki article that is a close paraphrase of the gallery page before resubmitting. Make sense? Question from Friends of the Mansion (00:36, 9 December 2021)

Hello, How can I add/correct information? Thank you --Friends of the Mansion (talk) 00:36, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Friends of the Mansion A few things first. Wikipedia does not permit shared accounts--see WP:ISU--and your username implies that your account is being used by more than one person. Usernames that are the same as an organization's name are also not allowed--see WP:ORGNAME--so to the extent that "Friends of the Mansion" is an organization, that is not okay either. Please see WP:UNC for the process of changing your username, or simply abandon this one and sign up with a new account. Also if you have a conflict of interest, it needs to be appropriately disclosed. See WP:PSCOI. If you have a conflict of interest, you should not edit the relevant article directly and should instead simply propose edits on the talk page. If you do not have a conflict of interest, the answer is basically that you click the edit button and edit as appropriate. All edits must be supported by reliable sources, however. See Help:VisualEditor#Adding_a_new_reference. Calliopejen1 (talk) 05:03, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

RFA 2021 Completed

The 2021 re-examination of RFA has been completed. 23 (plus 2 variants) ideas were proposed. Over 200 editors participated in this final phase. Three changes gained consensus and two proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration. Thanks to all who helped to close the discussion, and in particular Primefac, Lee Vilenski, and Ymblanter for closing the most difficult conversations and for TonyBallioni for closing the review of one of the closes.

The following proposals gained consensus and have all been implemented:

  1. Revision of standard question 1 to Why are you interested in becoming an administrator? Special thanks to xaosflux for help with implementation.
  2. A new process, Administrative Action Review (XRV) designed to review if an editor's specific use of an advanced permission, including the admin tools, is consistent with policy in a process similar to that of deletion review and move review. Thanks to all the editors who contributed (and are continuing to contribute) to the discussion of how to implement this proposal.
  3. Removal of autopatrol from the administrator's toolkit. Special thanks to Wugapodes and Seddon for their help with implementation.

The following proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration:

  1. An option for people to run for temporary adminship (proposal, discussion, & close)
  2. An optional election process (proposal & discussion and close review & re-close)

Editors who wish to discuss these ideas or other ideas on how to try to address any of the six issues identified during phase 1 for which no proposal gained are encouraged to do so at RFA's talk page or an appropriate village pump.

A final and huge thanks all those who participated in this effort to improve our RFA process over the last 4 months.

This is the final update with no further talk page messages planned.

How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. Question from Jmangel66 on Eros and Civilization (01:30, 8 January 2022)

Hello,

I was reading the page on Eros and Civilization, a work by Herbert Marcuse. One paragraph was very strangely worded and seemed to have the tone of some personal bias. It referenced a thesis paper by an unknown author and used this thesis to out-and-out dismiss Marcuse, one of the best-known and more respected philosophers of the 20th century.

Further, the paragraph had no citation.

Would you advise me on how to raise this issue or properly edit the page?

Thanks --Jmangel66 (talk) 01:30, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Hi Jmangel66. I checked the article and that paragraph was added a year ago by an anonymous (IP) editor. I've removed it. Thanks for pointing it out. Schazjmd (talk) 01:39, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

LA to FA 2022

LA to FA 2022

Dear Calliopejen1,

You're invited to a zoom call, taking place on February 11, with the goal of improving the article on Los Angeles to Featured article status! I often find it daunting to approach the Big Subjects on my own—so if you, like me, want a time to sit down with fellow dedicated editors and tackle something important and complex, this is the zoom for you! I, unfortunately, have no way to transmit snacks over zoom; but I trust you to exercise good judgement and discretion in selecting snacks of your own. Hope to see you there—if you're interested, add your name here!

Question from WanderingFido (10:39, 17 January 2022)

Why is Wikipedia flagging my edit as 'potentially abusive'? I need to replace a diagram made by someone else about the Model-View-Controller Design Pattern paradigm. It's incorrect. --WanderingFido (talk) 10:39, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

WanderingFido The only edit that it looks like you have made (other than leaving this message here) is this one. I don't see that it is flagged as anything. So I'm not sure, sorry! Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:00, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Question from Willyshoguns22 (12:29, 17 January 2022)

hello i want to create a wiki page for a few artist and entertainment companies i know --Willyshoguns22 (talk) 12:29, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Willyshoguns22 Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. It sounds like you may have a conflict of interest with respect to these artists/companies. Creating a new article is the hardest thing to do on Wikipedia, and it's even harder with a conflict of interest. Your clients may not understand what Wikipedia is actually for, and that a Wikipedia article is not necessarily a good thing. Any article about a topic is in no way for the benefit of the subject. There may be benefits, but those are on the side and not our primary goal. A Wikipedia article must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the subject, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability. Wikipedia has no interest in what a subject says about itself (this includes press releases, brief mentions, announcements of routine activities), only in what others completely unconnected with the topic choose to say about it. Please read Your First Article. If you still wish to attempt to create an article, please use Articles for creation. We also usually recommend that you first gain experience by editing existing articles. Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:06, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I am new to the Wikipedia platform. I am in Uganda. How do I get started with regard to contributing to this platform.Where do I start? Thanks. --Yokana4 (talk) 09:01, 26 February 2022 (UTC)

Hi Yokana4 and welcome to Wikipedia! One easy place to start if you speak and write English well is Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit. You can also check out Wikipedia:Community portal for more ideas. Or if you have certain skills you think you'd like to apply, or if you have certain topics you're interested in, let me know and I can brainstorm more ways for you to help! You could also try introducing yourself at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Africa. (And there is also Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Uganda, but it is not very active at all.) Again, welcome!
