BARB ratings edit

Just a note about ratings for The X-Factor, I'm not adding up the Saturday and Sunday episodes. The ratings for ITV should include ITV HD, and the time-shifted channel ITV+1 [1], so the combined numbers for X-Factor is higher (10.65 million). British TV ratings system is complicated, so I don't mind it being listed as no. 1, but you should know that there are different ways of looking at the figures [2], and reported figures for ITV and Channel 4 are often the combined figures from different channels. Hzh (talk) 10:27, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Hzh:, you had me and ITV+1 and ITV HD, I didn't know that they were listed separately on the BARB site, unlike the HD channels for BBC which are not listed. Thanks for clearing that up. --  axg //   10:45, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
That's fine. I think it would be OK to leave it as it is if someone else change the ranking to 1 again, I think most people don't understand the intricacies of British TV ratings (I certainly find it puzzling why ITV HD number is listed separately), so we could spend an eternity reverting the number. Either of the numbers would be equally valid depending on how you see it, ITV certainly would prefer that the number totalled from different channels is used, BBC perhaps not. Hello! I'm just wondering if it's okay if I upload the Junior Eurovision 2014 Logo on the swedish version of Wikipedia, as the file does'nt exist there. As you uploaded the file on the wnglish Wikipedia, im just wondering if EBU/PBS has any copyright on the file? #spaceon2 (talk) 16:38, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) - I'd recommend checking with Swedish Wikipedia first, as they may have different rules than English Wikipedia. And after checking previous ESC and JESC articles, Swedish Wikipedia don't seem to use logos. I'm assuming that there is a Swedish WikiCommons? If so, that would be the best place to ask if such image can be used. Wes Mouse 21:48, 22 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Türkvizyon 2014 map edit

AxG,

It has been brought to attention at Template talk:Infobox Eurovision/Türkvizyon 2014 that the map is not functioning properly. Since your creation last year, Germany have now joined the contest which meant the map was resized. This has resulted in the coordinates being out of sync. Is there any chance of fixing this issue? And if possible (when time is of convenience) would it be OK to possibly teach me how to add the coordinates so that if these issues arise in future that I'd be able to rectify them accordingly without having to disturb editors. Thanks. Wes Mouse 13:40, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Project Eurovision templates edit

AxG,

I'm wondering if it is possible to modify the project templates, such as ESCYr so that it incorporates the j=Junior and d=Dance parameters? And also if it is in any possible to incorporate parameters for the Eurovision Young Musicians and Eurovision Young Dancers contests? I was going to attempt myself, but I'm a bit fearsome in breaking the templates that are currently used on so many articles. Wes Mouse 20:28, 19 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Turkvizyon map (again) edit

Hi AxG,

Sorry to bother you with yet another map issue. File:Türkvizyon 2014 map.svg needs a bit of tweaking. Someone has just put a "blob spot" on the city of Moscow, when it should be the Moscow Oblast region. Any chance of correcting it? A few others may also need map coordinates adding to them too, so that they link to their respective articles. Wes Mouse | T@lk 20:52, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Wesley Mouse: But why is the flag in that source that of the federal city of Moscow (Flag of Moscow), and not the one of the Moscow Oblast? --  axg //   21:10, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've no idea, and can only assume the editor's have made a general mistake that is easy to do. Its known the contest is for countries/regions - and it would be unusual for a city to compete in a contest against countries/regions. And I've read the Russian source and they make reference to Moscow Oblast. I suppose Eurovoix made the common error and assumed it meant Moscow (city) and not Moscow Oblast (region) - similar to how some people forget that London is a city in the Greater London region, or Manchester is a city in the Greater Manchester region. Wes Mouse | T@lk 21:22, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Great, just when it couldn't get any more confusing. Eurovoix stated Russia is now Moscow. A Russian website states Russia is Moscow Oblast. And Turkvizyon website are now displaying the Russian flag and stating they are Russia again. Confused.com! I certainly well are. Wes Mouse | T@lk 21:29, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Wesley Mouse: Moscow has been replaced with err Moscow. Anything else that needs doing? --  axg //   21:45, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Other the fact I'm now having doubts on Eurovoix's reliability? First they publish news citing from a Russian website that Russia has become "Moscow". Eurovoix used Moscow City flag. I checked the Russian website and they state Moscow Oblast. Then today they [Eurovoix] publish the running order and cite Turkvizyon.tv - and also state Northern Cyprus and Tuva have withdrawn. I've just checked Turkvizyon, and they have no running order draw published. They still have Northern Cyprus and Tuva as taking part, recently publishing news of the song the Tuvan singer will perform. And to top it off, they are showing "Moscow" as "Russia" again. I'm surprised, as Eurovoix have been 100% reliable, up until these last few incidents. Wes Mouse | T@lk 21:49, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Concerning to the Eurovision Contest edit

OK, fine, as you wish, and I've already expired my 3 reverts... and I was convinced that Cyprus would be paintes in colour while Serbia and Kosovo would be painted in 2 colours! That's anglo-saxonic narrative, not my narrative, since I'm Latin! And "nuestros hermanos" ("our brothers") in Spain don't recognise Kosovo as an independent country... Sorry to tell you that I trust more in the Spanish press than in the Anglo-Saxon leaders, but ...yes! And in Lula and Marina Silva! And in António Costa! And in Cristina Kirchner! .... And in Alexis Tsipras in Greece! And in any decent Italian politician that may appear meanwhile. So on, so on! I don't really care the Eurovision contest! The only 5 winning songs I've appreciated in the last 23 years were Insieme (1991), Nocturne (1995), The Voice (1996), Love Shine a Light (1997)... yeah, ok, that 1990s were great but not only in Eurovision, and in 2006 with the superb "Hard Rock Hallelujah". Nothing else. It's my opinion, it's obviously subjective, but I don't really care about the Eurovision, and in 24 hours you could not find a single againt my (I think it is) objective position... Like as I'd be commenting if Taiwan could considered an independent entity in an Eastern contest, or Western Sahara as an African entity. I think both are... You probably think that Taiwan is China and Western Sahara is Morocco... It's just a little difference between you and me, don't take it too seriously... Seriously would be in a political article, not in an Eurovision article.Mondolkiri1 (talk) 22:43, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
