Clue 1: I have the names of some of the master stonemasons who worked on the Beiteddine palace. here, this is an excerpt of this book. More to follow. I know of at least four palaces built by the Emir, two for himself and two for his sons. I will search where I read this information. three of those palaces survive, all three are in the Beiteddine area. The main and most opulent of these is Beiteddine itself, the second one is said to be built as a summer retreat (others say for his dowager) it survives now as the summer retreat of the archbishop of saida. the third one to survive is Mir amin palace, now a hotel ([1] pics), i tried to find the residence of Bashir's other son, I think it's in ruin in some part of the valley, have to ask locals -~ Elias Z. @Elie plus: Cool, let me know if you can get your hands on some sources. By the way, I just saw the Arabic wiki page for Bashir, and I think it shows those four palaces you mentioned. The arabic page mentions only Beiteddine palace. The article names Rustum and Youssef Moujaes as "famous stonemasons" (the ones mentioned in the above book). The Arabic version's tone is, like most articles on the arabic version written in a pompous and inadequate tone. Some of the passages are taken from a school textbook. Usable passages explain why Bashir decided to move his residence from Deir el Qamar: the Deir al Qamar palaces (Fakhreddin and others) were too small to accommodate him and the members of his court. Deir el Qamar was home for the Baz family and their supporters and he had killed two of the family heads. The town also harbored rival feudal lords such as the Nakads. The text says that he bought the hill over which he built the palace and drew water from Safa spring (Nabeh es-Safa) which he also bought; he appointed Khalil Attieh al-Dimashqi to oversee the works of drawing that spring's water to the palace (the palace had no water source). There is a common folk tale that says that a madman called "Akhwat Shanay" (the madman of Shanay- a town in the shouf) gave the prince the idea of drawing water into the palace by building a canal. The prince assigned to his male followers two days of unpaid labor per year for the construction of the canal. Another folk tale says that he cut of the hands of the masons which is not true according to the source. I will have to search for this source to verify all those passages but nowhere does the Ar text mention the other palaces. ~ Elias Z. (talkallam) 05:41, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi again, I had a question and I was not sure who to ask.. I was considering creating an article with the name of Operation Martyr Muath [2], should it have an article of its own or combined with Muath Al-Kasasbeh article? I considered this cause there's alot of information to add, including; public and international response, human rights organizations opinion, ISIS casualties, the female American hostage killed, targeted sites, etc.. @Makeandtoss: The operation is notable in itself so it could warrant a separate article. If you could provide a sufficient amount of reliably sourced material, I'd say go for it. Features Articles

Hi Al Ameer, I'm looking for some advice and thought i'd ask you given your record of bringing WP:Palestine related articles up the formal quality scale. Since you've worked on many GAs and DYKs, but haven't worked on an FA since 2007, do you view the latter as simply too time consuming to achieve? I have just brought Balfour Declaration to GA, and am debating whether I should try to go for the next step. Oncenawhile (talk) 20:01, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@Oncenawhile: GA reviews are less arduous, involve one reviewer, but still require an article to be high quality i.e. comprehensive but focused, fully sourced to RS, good prose, written objectively, stable, etc. FAC's are another ballgame. The requirements are similar, but have to be near-perfect and require several reviewers to agree that it meets the highest standards. It could be exhaustive, but well worth it, since at the end of the process you have a really fantastic article and a Main Page feature. But indeed, the amount of time needed on an FA would prevent me from working on so many other articles that I'd love to improve, so I'm generally satisfied with DYKs and GAs. Just nominated Hasan al-Kharrat, but that article is small and the subject is really limited to one year of history, so the process hasn't been as exhaustive. I'd encourage you to work toward an FA for Balfour Declaration even if it takes time, because of the subject's obvious importance to the history of Palestine and the Middle East. You need to take a real good look at the FA requirements and, if possible, find FAs about similar documents to compare. --Al Ameer (talk) 23:13, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Feel like making an article about a Palestinian poet?

When creating the article for Musmus, few sources stated that a "well known" or a "legendary" poet named Rashid Hussein was born in that village. I couldn't find an article in English or Hebrew for that. I might make a stub with what I can find soon. He Bolter, no problem. Found a couple sources about the man, who I never heard of before you mentioned him. And thanks for re-establishing Musmus. That was one of the first articles I worked on, but it was a less-than basic stub and we decided to merge it into Ma'ale Iron. I'm glad you found the material necessary to give it its own page again. Population updates

Hello Al Ameer son. I see you are updating the populations of some places in Israel. I've developed a template that does this automatically ({{Israel populations}}), and have been (slowly) adding it to articles. You add it like this. When the CBS add the new populations, we just update the template, and it updates all the articles. The "correct" names to use can be found in the template, or in my sandbox (you have to use the same name as the template to get it to display). Hope that it explains it well enough? Hey Number 57 I'm having trouble with towns that have a hyphen in their name like Majd al-Krum (Majd Al-Kurum), Daliyat al-Karmel and Jadeidi-Makr (Judeide-Maker). Even when I remove the hyphen, there's still no population. Do you know how to fix this? --Al Ameer (talk) 20:12, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

It seems that inside the template (you can see here) any word directly after a hyphen is lower case, so it should have been Majd Al-kurum (I've done that article). Does that solve the problem? Apologies about that. Number 57 20:23, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

No problem, I meant to do it years ago but never quite worked out how it could be done, but I came across a template that worked in a similar way and twigged! Requesting language improve again

Hey, I made this edit adding a lot of new information to the Zalafa article (the one near Musmus) but I feel like the language there is not good. Could you do your magic? (If you need help in understanding what I wrote, ask)

@Bolter21: Made some copyedits, still needs a bit of clarifying though. I'll detail those points at the talk page a little later. As for copyedit requests, there is the Guild of Copy Editors, but requests there usually take a while to fulfill. The Guild should probably be reserved for those articles you intend to nominate for higher status, but that's up to you. Unfortunately I still didn't receive anything. I don't know how to navigate the trouble ticket system, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that there's a long-standing issue with certain email provider accounts (Yahoo! mail?) not always working with Wikipedia. Question about Hamulas

Hello, if I recall correct, you are an Israeli Arab. I don't know if it's only a Levantine thing or an Arab thing but it"ll be stupid to ask if you know about hamula. My question is, how do you say hamula in English? Until now I used the term clan. Since I am working on Arab villages with various hamulas and the matter doesn't have an article, I need a name that more English speakers will understand. I don't want to use "family" for obvious reasons. Also, how long can Wikipedia stand the non-existance of an article about one of the most fundemental things in Arab societies? The hamula. Hey Bolter. The hamula is indeed the rough equivalent of a "clan". I was actually going to create an article on hamula, but never got to starting it since my focus is always wandering. Dear User:Al Ameer son, I saw where you removed "Category:History of Palestine (region)" and replaced it with "Category:Ottoman Palestine".
